PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY JUNE 24, 2024) — As you might guess, THE PLANET receives a bunch of private queries. Most we answer privately, but some are worth sharing. With that, let’s attack a mailbag’s quartet.

By the way, the DEAR PLANET salutation is house style. The letters have been edited lightly and slightly only as needed for mechanics and clarity.

———- ooo ———-

Dear PLANET,

What happens to comments that go to trash?

Thanks,

Herbie

DEAR HERBIE,

Trashed comments get emptied into cybernetic nonexistence.

Actually, THE PLANET recently tweaked the filters that patrol content. We’ll skip the technical mumbo. Our Army of Robots, who patrol all incoming, now place certain comments into, to borrow from 1984, a “memory hole.”

On a popular blog such as this, a huge, almost indescribable amount of “stuff” gets sent to us besides your comments. This includes:

  • Blocked IPs
  • Messages from foreign countries
  • Failed log-in attempts
  • spam and other junk
  • advertisers wanting to place ads
  • grifts, come-ons, and scams.

Contributors on the “flag list” get thrown into the memory hole. They range from a person’s obsession with Adolph Hitler t0 propaganda from Iraq.

Solid contributors — irrespective of political persuasion or any other delimiter — can feel confident that THE PLANET still remains committed to free speech, free of both ads and subscription costs.

THE PLANET alone remains the Voice of the Little Guy in The Berkshires.

We are the genuine article. Accept no other.

———- ooo ———-

Dear PLANET

Why [do you] not attend council meeting[s] any more?

Love what you do and hope you keep on doping it [doing it]. You’re all we got.

Bartender

DEAR BARTENDER

The simple answer is time. Don’t have the time to waste. We do have our spies, of course, who attend and report back on every meeting. Most of the time our Right Honorable Good Friends on the dais they remain below our radar. Too predictable, too vanilla, too vacuous, too “nothing,” too rubber stamping, and too “meh.”

———- ooo ———-

DEAR PLANET

Love your local stuff, but would you [consider] more national and intl [content]? Takes me away from the mess that Pete and Pete have made of Pittsfield. Thanks,

FITZIE

DEAR FITZIE

While the thrust of THE PLANET is local and regional, as you know, we do take on national and international topics. With the presidential campaign heating up and the conventions nearing, we’ll be doing more national columns. Global comes into play as well. There are enough hot spots (and still heating up) to warrant the occasional trip abroad — Russia and Ukraine, Israel and Muslims, the recent Russia-North Korea pact, the headlong, dazzling advance of China. The presidential election and international issues are deeply intertwined. Under Biden’s watch, China is eating our lunch, Russia is acting like it’s a superpower again, Israel takes our money but defies our wishes, and North Korea’s talk is increasingly belligerent. Under Trump, China and the U.S. were on equal footing, Russia knew not to mess with us, and with North Korea, the U.S. had face-to-face dialogue and diplomacy. In short, to your question, yes.

———- ooo ———-

DEAR PLANET

You called it man. Remember last October? You told me the Celtics would go coast-to-coast and [hang up] Banner #18. I said Miami had their number and the Celts would choke in the semis or Finals. They didn’t, and I owe you a dinner!

oRIoN

DEAR oRIoN

The Boston Celtics are once more The Boston Celtics! World Champs for the 18th time, and, for a blip in time, all is right with the world. Cousy to Russell to Heinson, Havlicek to Cowens to White, Bird to McHale to Parish, Brown to Tatum to Porzingis — the beat goes on, the baton gets passed. Oh, and I’ll make sure I order large when we meet for chow.

I won’t rub it in, but I will enjoy the swill. Let’s see. Think I’ll go for the Chateau Latour. Fullbottle.

“And that’s the way it is, Monday, June 24, 2024. This is Walter Cronkite, CBS News. Good night.”

———- ooo ———-.

Achievement is the fruit of determination” — Sir Donald Turpentine, Knight of the Bath.

LOVE TO ALL.

In Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, etc., one sees authoritarian dictators for life.

In free nations, one sees corrupt career politicians for life.

In Pittsfield politics, one sees a postindustrial small city that makes taxpayers pay excessive municipal taxes and fees in return for….the 2 Petes’ One Pittsfield tagline….Tricia Country Buffet and Paul Marxism….and a downward spiral.

Anyways, Thursday night’s debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump should be interesting.

I will not be watching such a debate. It is highly predictable that it will be nothing more than vacuous blithering and have nothing to do realistically with what either of them will try or be able to do for the country. You will learn more if you watch a rerun of Gilligan’s Island in black and white. This “debate” should be sub-titled FOR IDIOTS ONLY and those who do watch will probably be too embarrassed afterwards to admit it.

Is it really even a debate? If mikes are muted by CNN as they please then where is the debate? A real debate is a back and forth that includes interrupting and responding immediately to what is being said. Joe can’t think that fast so that’s why there will not be an actual debate, but just each candidate answering their own questions. If we see Trump’s lips moving but no sound, we will know that CNN doesn’t like what he is saying. They will use the excuse that “his time was up”.

Trap,
The fact that the polls show an inexplicably ‘tight’ race for President, after the terrible mismanagement under Biden, is demonstrative of the liberal progressive hive mind and social group thing to the point where ‘feelings’ trump reality.

Polls are MSM bullshit.

This election ,will tell if America survives as a Constitutional Republic, or goes into a NWO/third world chaos. Want that?

We are already halfway there ,with the Biden steal of 2020, and 3 1/2 years of NWO , not America first policies.,

I saw a post of Twitter (X) that showed Trump call Paul Ryan a weak RINO and would now shill for Xiden now that Ryan is a Fox News executive “bored” member.

Lo and behold, the very next day on Fox News, Xiden had “closed the gap to within 2% points.”

Imagine that.

Polls are trustworthy these days, as it is when Tricia Farley-Country Buffet (D-illegal aliens) tried to bullsh!t everyone by telling us giving illegal aliens DL’s was “not for voting purposes, but to alleviate their fear of police when they drive their kids to the Dr’s office.”

You’re now single Trish and there are a lot of single Haitian men.

The main thing missing from the Durham report, was the place to build the gibbets for their public hangings. That would take a LOT of rope and not cheap Chinese stuff Biden Junta might have imported with Jim and Hunter’s help.

With only 2 candidates on stage I don’t think talking over each other would be a huge issue and debates should be messy anyway which does include getting passionate about a subject and interrupting. Otherwise we will just get Biden reading a script because CNN will undoubtedly give him the questions beforehand so he will know what to expect. This debate will be very watered down so Joe can handle it. Expect CNN to double down on using the term “convicted felon” when they refer to Trump.

Of all the debates over the past 30 years or so, one of the most irritating things is people talking way over their time slot and no one ever does anything about it. I’ve always thought the mics should be cut off when their allocated time is up, so those idiot candidates will learn they can’t just blah blah blah when their time is up.

Sarcasm: When I need money to pay my cable bill, I ask Pittsfield’s Pot King Luciforo for one of his 30 pieces of silver. When Nuciforo declines to offer me a piece of silver, then I ask the glorified double dipper, Smitty Pignatelli, for a few extra dollars. When Smitty declines, I ask Kufflinks for a slice of dough from one of his secretive Slush Funds. When Kufflinks declines, I watch TV by peeking into the window of one of the three greedy lobbyists: Dan Bosley, Peter Larkin or Stan Rosenberg. When they shut their shades, then I go over PAC Man Richie Neal’s home and watch Joe Biden and Donald Trump debate about their time in The White House.

Kind of disappointed in the coach then, Heinsohn. He was a turn coat who rooted for the Lakers the next decade, as a paid announcer during the Larry Bird era.

As the world inches closer to WWIII, it’s good to see the liberal snowflakes in Williamstown are gathering for a good cause. A woman’s right to kill babies.

I guess we all missed that clause that Thomas Jefferson; late one night, wrote into the 10th Amendment that a woman can abort their babies as a form of birth control and/or to launch their career.

It looks like the Planet’s very own, “grab them by the (expletive),” JM, even made his way from his home in NH to this rally.

JM is the one holding the “grab him” sign. He even has his personal security detail standing to the left of him, dressed in all black, with the Dutchboy haircut. This is out of precaution for any attacks that Andy “Luciforo” Nuciforo, might have preplanned. Luckily, nothing happened. Spike did her job.

When you were growing up, didn’t you and your friends talk about the hot girls or guys (if that’s your thing) in school? Don’t be a hypocrite.

Now, visit a red state and watch the TV ads flood the air about Xiden “saving a woman’s right to abortion.”

First off, there is no “right” to an abortion.

Second, abortion is KILLING A BABY. What do you not understand?

Very simple math JM

democRATS support abortion = killing babies.

They could report that Pittsfield property taxes have gone up in the area of five million dollars to support immigrants’ food supply, children education in Pittsfield schools, housing, clothing, phones, transportation etc. And there is no end in sight people. Your taxes are supporting people who you will never even know and came here from half way around the world, and that money is coming from your own children’s college fund, food for your family, repairs you would like to do on your home. Wait till you see what is coming down the pike as immigrant support escalates. No one thought to allow them in in moderation so that they could be assimilated without draining much needed resources from those who have worked and contributed all along.

With the debate being hosted by CNN I expect the questions will come from the DNC survey that was sent out to voters which don’t mention inflation, endless wars, or open borders. Instead Biden will be given softball questions while Trump is asked about his DEI and climate initiatives.

Speaking of housing in Pittsfield. There was just a facebook listing for an apartment on ORCHARD STREET and it was over $1650 with no utilities, no pets, off street parking first and last months rent. So if ORCHARD STREET (not known as a desirable area) is getting that kind of money, how in the hell is anybody not getting executive salary supposed to live in Pittsfield? The special interest investor groups are driving more and more lower income people onto the streets to add to the burgeoning homeless population that needs taking care of. And some of them are getting tax breaks in the process.

Set up to fail like so much other Pittsfield misdirection.

It is absolutely fascinating to watch the reaction of this blog’s posters to the upcoming debate. It is interesting to see how they rationalize their truth denial as debate time approaches.

Since Trump will perform poorly compared with Biden, their first task is to manage expectations, so they need to give excuses for why Trump will lose and Biden will do well.

And the excuses are: Biden will be high on meds; it will not be a real debate because the mics will be controlled; Biden will have a podium to lean on; CNN questions will be biased in favor of Biden; the race is “inexplicably ‘tight’”; it will be a ‘Kangaroo show’ hosted by CNN; “CNN could easily mute Biden if he starts getting confused”; “Biden will be given softball questions while Trump is asked about his DEI and climate initiatives”; “CNN has done its best to tilt this debate Joe’s way. Biased panel, podiums so Joe will have something to lean on, mics shut off to limit actual debate, and more”; “CNN is a leftist’s haven/safety net”; Soros is providing the debate questions via the DNC…etc etc.

Instead, why don’t you all tell us why Trump will do well and Biden will lose? The answer is, because it ain’t gonna happen.

Why did State Rep. Smitty Pignatelli – along with State Reps. Tricia Farley-Bouvier & John Barrett III – recently and successfully vote down giving at risk homeless Veterans priority to Emergency Shelter in Massachusetts, but then he writes and publishes a letter saying he has appreciation and respect for Veterans?

Jon Melle

100% service connected permanently and totally disabled Veteran
—–

Letter: “Sturgeon is perfect pick to lead Fourth of July Parade”
The Berkshire Eagle, June 25, 2024

To the editor: When I first heard the news that my friend “Wild” Bill Sturgeon was being named the grand marshal of the Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade, I yelled out a big “yes.” (“Pittsfield: Sturgeon named parade marshal,” Eagle, June 19.)

I couldn’t think of a more deserving choice than Bill. He’s done so much not only for the Berkshires but for America in his commitment to service. It also came as no surprise to me that his first thought was for the veterans, especially his friends who never made it home from Vietnam. He and I have had many conversations over the years about showing appreciation and respect to those who came before us and remembering the sacrifice that so many have made to preserve our freedoms who are forever young in our hearts and memories.

This will be my last official march after 22 years as state representative, and just knowing that my friend will be leading the way will make it even more special. Thank you, Pittsfield Parade Committee, and congratulations to Bill for your friendship to me and so many others.

Happy Fourth to all.
