BEST CHOICE FOR THIS YEAR’S MUNI ‘ELECTION’–DON’T VOTE
BY DAN VALENTI
PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY
(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE WEDNESDAY OCT. 1, 2025) — While THE PLANET ponders how October came to be when yesterday we were in the early days of spring, we can share a profound insight prompted by one of our readers and correspondents.
DON’T VOTE.
Next month is November, and rumor has it that the city of Bitchfield will conduct an “election.” We know that, like most scuttlebutt, this rumor isn’t true. There will be no election. Instead, citizens and taxpayers will be inflicted with an “election.”
The city hasn’t held an authentic municipal election since Peter Arlos was shoeshine boy for P.J. Moore. Honesty forbids calling the political charades of recent and not-so-recent years in September and November “elections.” Three-card Monty, a thrown boxing match, a rigged poker game, a fixed horse race–that’s more like it.
“Electoral” politics in the city matter not in the least. This year, Bitchfield sunk to a maggot-infested, garbage-toter low by failing to draw enough candidates to require a preliminary election. Eleven council seats, six school committee slots, and city clerk make 18 office up for grabs but not one runoff.
———- ooo ———-
The Special Interests have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Having been stung by the 2000 special election whereby hordes of city voters rejected the bid to turn Bitchfield into a dictatorship (i.e., the proposed Civic Authority legislation), a series of illegal meetings were conducted, mostly in the back room at Remo’s, DelGallo’s Restaurant and Bar on Newell Street, whose logo should have been a pair of cement galoshes.
They crafted a deliberate scheme to eliminate Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski from local politics by depriving them of a vote. They did so by making sure that the middle class and taxpayers would have no one for whom to vote.
THE PLANET doesn’t have the space to outline how in these past 25 years The Suits and their coopted office holders have done this. A couple of key moments: (1) In 2001, after Doyle runs the city into financial disgrace requiring state takeover of local finances, The Suits crush an attempt to go after Doyle and financier David Kiley by calling in their bonding. (2) The City Charter overhaul, which creates, among other bad ideas, a four-year term for the corner office.
It looked for a time in this years election cycle that there would indeed be prelims, but then a bunch of would-be candidates suddenly dropped out. Word on the street is that certain ones were threatened: Drop out or else. Threatened with what? Public humiliation? Revelation of dug-up dirt? Worse?
Of course, this cannot be true. Things like that just don’t happen in Pittsfield. Peter Marchetti defeated John Krol in an honest, totally above board race, as purse as the driven PCBs. Fact is, though, enough runners gave up the ghost to preclude a September exercise.
———- ooo ———-
As long as the Special Interests can guarantee themselves six council wins, four school committee seats, and the corner office, the city will remain where it is, in the hands of co-opted marionettes dangling on the strings pulled by the Invisible Others. With apathy now deeply entrenched among the vast majority of would-be voters, The Suits win. “Candidates” who “win” election next month will be certain to “play ball.” Or else.
So here’s THE PLANET‘s insight: DON’T VOTE.
Don’t be a part of an electoral crime. Otherwise, you’ll be an accessory after the fact.
As part of this campaign to drive away the vote, THE PLANET suggests the creation of “I Didn’t Vote” stickers, to be worn proudly on Nov. 4.
Don’t be a sucker. Don’t vote.

Some of my personal reasons for not voting because I think it is a joke process in this city.
Secrecy in the sochol taxpayer funded investigation which release was urged by the state, all media, even the local paper which is usually protective of all city decisions, and almost every taxpayer in the city. But some powerful group nixed it against all this demand. Holy cow.
The city charter, which was modified years ago to give the city government even more power over the people and was done so in a dubious manner, approved by the voters (as that is the legal process), can apparently now be changed or modified if parts of it get in the way of what elected officials would like to be able to do. WHATTTT???
In most cities large expenditures of public funds (taxpayer money) i.e. 30 million for a ballpark/entertainment emporium, would be put before the voters for approval. Pittsfield has no such voter input and the mayor, umbilical city council and all-powerful special interests literally dictate all spending, when, where, how much, who it goes to and how much more taxes will be raised to pay for it. (Lots more as we consistently experience) When was the last petition allowed for ANY change for that matter?
Absolute refusal for a forensic audit to get new and objective eyes on the city finances, as are done in most all institutions handling millions of dollars. The year over year over year of huge tax increases begs for a deep dive audit to check for both accuracy, waste and areas of spending that could be improved. Voters and taxpayers deserve this unquestionably. But, not going to happen.
Also, where is all the serious debate and discussion that should happen when city issues arise before the council? Why does it seem as though almost every councilor is on board with everything that comes before them? Weird huh? Does anyone remember the feisty back forths of yester year? And why is the city council president, who is supposed to be a people’s representative always sitting in the mayors lap playing with his tie instead of challenging him and putting forth ways to save taxpayers money? It is almost as though he is afraid to speak against any mayoral project. It is almost like he is a lap doggie and not an elected representative of the voters who elected him.
I will stop here for now, but this is the surface stuff that deeply discourages my participation in the “democratic” process that seems more a smoke and mirror process to me. I have done it over and over and over and it is the same empty result. At some point one can lose faith. But that’s just me, maybe I am just too impatient.
Excellent observations, MEAN. To your point about lack of a through audit, the city handles HUNDREDS of millions. Re: the city charter, yes, get rid of provisions that get in our way. Example: Getting rid of the charter objection. It’s a rigged game.
Vote with one’s feet won because many thousands of people have moved out of Pittsfield over the years, while the likes of the 2-Pete’s run City Hall.
Worst column you have ever written Dan!
I’ll take that as a high compliment!
Sarcasm: The column should have praised the career politicians in Pittsfield for being BIG Spenders, collecting BIG Salaries, having BIG Beer Bellies, and all of the BIG Businesses on North Street that exist alongside of Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny….
Wheelies for Healey when are you and CC President Pete White going to film the video instead of Big Wheels you could use bmx bikes and use your cousin Mayor Pete’s big belly as a jump then a Wheelie for Healey and be tricky.
Dumbest post you’ve ever made.
Buffooon
Apparently, city councilors agree. Almost all of them have given a negative thumb. (per instructions from corner office)
Fritz stop being a know it all dick. BUFFOON. Use your real name when you throw us darts.
The Planet gave the voters a look into Bitchfield’s political system run by the insiders a very public wedgie and it was called for!
Well it’s Facebook official, Bith Slapped er I mean Witch Slapped is closing this month. Not sure were the purple haired people and shitting on the sidewalks folk are going to go now.
At least cross-eyed Gary doesn’t have to sit home unemployed all alone by himself.
Gary Munn’s employment with the City of Pittsfield was terminated by Mayor Peter Marchetti’s administration, which is being legally disputed.
Danielle Munn’s small business on North Street called “Witch Slapped” is closing this month with alleged unfavorable treatment by Mayor Peter Marchetti’s administration.
Evan Skubel small business called “EMS Automotive Services” on Center Street closed due to alleged unfair treatment by Mayor Peter Marchetti’s administration, which is being legally disputed.
The 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics spends over $62 million per fiscal year 2026 more than the similarly sized small City of Westfield, Massachusetts.
The 2-Pete’s will set the city tax rates after the November 04th, 2025, municipal election, which will place additional people at-risk of being homeless in Pittsfield.
The Pittsfield City Council put off voting on Mayor Peter Marchetti’s proposed encampment ban that would fine homeless people for sleeping on public property until after the November 04th, 2025, municipal election.
Next year, in 2026, Victoria May’s lawsuit that names Peter Marchetti from his former bank manager job as an alleged wrong-doer will take place in a federal court of law.
In 2023, Peter Marchetti’s campaign tagline was “One Pittsfield”.
In 2025 going into 2026, Mayor Peter Marchetti’s administration tagline is “RETRIBUTION in Bitchfield”.
Beer for Everyone will be his mantra. That’s if he survives the May -Hem.
Conversely, the local politician’s hangout bar got a bruising punishment for their misdeeds. They must close one hour early for a month. So severe. Slap in the face to law enforcement.
Kufflinks and Lumpy were seen together regularly at Lach’s Lounge back in the day.
Awww, poor Molly. Everyone reading sees right through you. You’ve clearly got a fixation on the Munns — using first names like that makes it obvious. You come here just to hide behind a screen name and cheer on yet another Pittsfield business closing. But let’s be real: Witch Slapped did more for your survival than you’ll ever admit. You’ve eaten here, you’ve clothed yourself here, you’ve benefitted from the very space you now mock. Pretending to be someone else online doesn’t change the fact that you’re unemployed, underserved, and ungrateful.
Witches aren’t real
Christians aren’t real either.
I can’t argue with that…
Is that any way to talk Danielle? What purpose did Bitch Slapped serve to the city at large? It was merely a hangout for the misfits of Pittsfield who believe in ghosts. Ask Trista what a nice person you are.
Are you insinuating that I’m Danielle Munn? That’s actually hilarious. I can’t wait to text her and tell her that one.
My name is Val. I’m a 68-year-old retired attorney who lives downtown. I volunteer with Witch Slapped, the Senior Center, the Food Pantry, the Christian Center, and Pittsfield Beautiful — so yes, I stay involved.
Now, Trista… the OnlyFans misfit with very public struggles? She’s openly talked about her borderline personality disorder, emotional breakdowns, and the chaos that comes with it. Every week it’s the same cycle — feeling victimized, begging for help, threatening to give up her dogs, claiming poverty, and then turning on anyone who won’t enable her.
What she doesn’t talk about is how many times the Witch Slapped community stepped up for her — helped her pay bills, offered her food, emotional support, even friendship. It only became a “problem” when the team finally said enough after she started attacking other members.
So if you honestly think Trista is more credible, reliable, or respectable than Danielle, that really says a lot about you. Danielle has done more for this city and its people than most of you combined — and even Dan Valenti respects her. I’ve personally seen him come into Witch Slapped more than once showing his support.
If I have to explain to you what this family and business have done for Pittsfield, you’re either new here or willfully ignorant.
And just a guess… but your obsession with the Munns gives you away. Pretty sure I know which one you are. The Flogging Molly T-shirt was a dead giveaway. How many of those are in Pittsfield?
Trump put on a drug induced rambling speech to the 800 generals who got a very good look at a incompetent fascist leader. It was a eye opening look at a mentally ill man. Those generals left with no confidence in Trump. The president had no clue where he was.He was not seen anywhere yesterday as they hid him all day…..You all believe the lies that non citizens get medicade and health coverage. At least one of you must know this is a lie.Dan,do you believe this lie.FOX is also spreading this to male viewers there.
This dirty politics is also happening at the state level. Boston Mayor Wu is running unopposed. Her opponent conveniently dropped out of the race. This is how the Democrats keep total control of Massachusetts. Lizzie Warren says taxpayers have no say over what the Democrats do with our money so we should all just shut up. The Democrats are the real authoritarians. They will not allow any candidate to run who might pose a challenge to the real “Kings” in this state. They don’t want you to vote except for them. “No Kings” rallies should be against Democrats across this country who want to lock in their power.
LIzzy is the male equivalent of a dink. She should try a get her big pharma supporters to lower costs on prescriptions.
The Schumer Shutdown – Democrats more concerned about illegal aliens’ benefits and less about American citizens!

Vote ‘em out! Don’t vote for Pocahontas & Mr. Frosty aka Markey!
Not voting will send a message, but it’s a weak message easily spun positive as a sign that things must be going well in Pittsfield. Better to show up and go on record with a clear statement like NONE OF THE ABOVE on the write-in line. If enough people did that it really would send a message and it might even make the news. And maybe that modest result could be the start of a new movement in Pittsfield — a two-year plan to accomplish a clean sweep in the following election.
What?
Good points, PC!
What news? The Eagle news will say low voter turnout. Again. The city has been run by generational degenerates wow bar towing and social climb is to be a job and get elected to something.
So,how many of these apartments like former white terrace are federally subsidized. And how many currently have illegals?
Excellent points!
Been searching for an answer for the past 2 years. Can anyone name just one thing that Mayor Lumpy and the current WHOLE City Council has done to benefit the taxpayers? After living in Pittsfield for over 60 years I have never seen such a weak bunch of idiots. Why bother to vote, when the same do nothings are running to cushion their pathetic egos. My current Ward councilor NEVER answered emails, the one time she showed to speak with neighbors, she completely ignored the neighbors and just kissed the Mayor’s ass. She then moves out of the Ward a year before her term is up. Glad she could add her “reign” to her resume. She did nothing for us.
This is the third summer the City has torn up my lawn. Thought I had seen it all last year, but they really showed their screw ups this year. Came home to find my yard all flagged and marked up along with the newly paved street. Few days later they dug a deep hole in my yard. Received a letter 5 days later from the City Water Department stating they would be testing the water pipes for contamination. Well, I patiently waited until after the date stated in the letter. The City never showed. Called the City, well guess what, was told “they aren’t doing that anymore”. Was told I “could fill in the hole”. This is how our high budgeted City works. Absolutely NO OVERSIGHT. Mayor Lumpy had no idea what is going on in his Administration, and we have two more years of his lack of so-called leadership.
Next week, Pittsfield will host a fair for the city’s homeless residents next week.
