Paving the Way: Tell us what sense does it make to create a miracle mile east to west on Newell Street while leaving the heart of East Street, one the major east-west thoroughfare in Bitchfield, looking like Clavius Base on the moon? North of East Street, we have countless millions spent on the spent Tyler Street environs. Why do these two and ignore East, which clearly should have been prioritized. Perhaps there’s a reasonable explanation, but Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski haven’t heard it, because in Two-Pete Government, the cowardly mayor and the infantile council president are still in hiding.
Time of the Signs: It’s that time of the year when political lawn signs spoil the view and foul the air. Signs don’t vote, so the shopworn ditty goes, but neither do votes sign, particularly in an “election” so foregone as this one. There was so little interest in the campaign that Bitchfield failed to draw enough candidates for a preliminary. Noon tomorrow (9/25) a drawing will be conducted to determine ballot position. Maybe the Kapanskis will get lucky, though. Before then, maybe an all-out nuclear war will vaporize the Eastern seaboard, sparing citizens another fixed choosing. As we all know, a city election these days is a rigged game.
Coffee Grinds: You could see the end coming for Dotties coffee house shortly they expanded into the two adjacent spaces. The house fell into the same one that snares many successful businesses, namely, managing growth. Dotties couldn’t do that. It got too big, too fast, and had trouble getting good help (a bane of nearly every business today). Moreover, the business fell victim to the dramatic influx of the “houseless,” illegals, and the other “armies of the road” that have overrun the city. It closed on July 6. The owner dusted off the old bromide about “wanting to spend more time with the family.” Right. A former employee is looking to reopen on Oct. 1 on a lease-to-buy arrangement. He’s got the right idea, planning to “get small” again and build from there. THE PLANET wishes the new effort much success.
Dodging the Bullet: That’s what Donald Trump did in July last year. It’s also what the American people did when they overwhelmingly rejected the Harris-Walz ticket. Kackling Kam played the race card, the gender card, and every other PC-DEI card, and the American voters said: “That crud no longer works.” Now, Kackle has a book on her 107 Days. It should have been titled, The Blame Game. Her beat-down, you see, is everyone’s fault but her own. She throws Joe Biden, the Democrats, Hamas, social media, her aides, Trump, J.D. Vance, and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver. Can you imagine having THAT in the Oval Office? Shudders.

East Street is a disaster area. I avoid that street completely to save my car from damage. East Street is a main city street so outsiders will take away a bad impression of the city and certainly wouldn’t want to move to such a dumpy city. I thought the city was trying to encourage people to move here? Maybe they have all they need now with all the illegal immigrants they encouraged to come here.
I haven’t read the Kamala book. I certainly wouldn’t pay to read it, but I haven’t heard that she mentioned anything bad about the Obamas. Things seemed really chilly between them at the Jimmy Carter funeral. Under a Kamala administration the border would have continued to be wide open and our country would have turned into England and France and all the other European countries being influenced by the left to have open borders to make their culture unrecognizable.

Why would a Pittsfield business, which has been a past beneficiary of generous Pittsfield city government funding, and was successful before that and increasingly so ever since, be getting even MORE taxpayer money? How does Pittsfield continue to wind up with political leaders who seem to be totally controlled by special interests?
When our federal government (which has a 37 trillion-dollar deficit) needs more money it just prints it. They could have helped by not giving the wealthiest people a one trillion dollar tax cut but that is not how they operate. While Pittsfield does not literally print their own money, they parallel that by bottomless tax increases, and they do not seem to care the toll it takes on a family’s financial situation. It would be one thing if the community was wealthy but as they well know it is not. It would be one thing if there was not so much frivolous spending and giveaways to well off people who do not need it.
No meaningful budget cuts and it does not look like there is even any effort in doing so. NO forensic audit to find out where there may be waste or inefficiency. Ask yourself why.
There is an election coming up. Your vote will change nothing. Even if you change a couple of warm bodies the overall result will not change. A wholesale boycott of the polls might embarrass them and is worth a try. Your vote means nothing in Pittsfield other than a symbolic gesture of phony democracy. Stay home and knit or pet your cat. At least you will have spent hour time being productive.
