SNOW, YOU SAY? ‘TIS SNOW PROBLEM!
BY DAN VALENTI
PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY
(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE WEDNESDAY DEC. 3, 2025) — THE PLANET hesitates to call the snow we received yesterday a “storm.” A couple degrees more and it would have been rain. As it stands, however, seeing that so many in New England have become weather wimps, panic predictably set in. Holy men and hypocrites declared the End of Times, drug dealers and users wept and gnashed teeth (in some cases, “tooth”), and Mayor Lumpy slipped into a strap-on and ended up sailing along on Moonlight Bay.

For the record, the City of Pittsfield posted the following:
Stay safe.
You gotta love that.
Snow totals?
Doesn’t matter. 3″? 5″? 59″?
As “Storms of the Millennia,” this one ranked just above a mouse sneezing on a snowdrift. It’s December. It’s New England. Stop The Friggin’ Press!!! We get snow!!!!!
Why, THE PLANET recalls back in the day we had to walk 128 miles in snow 70 feet deep, bare foot, whilst hiding in a rusty metal milk jug to elude packs of rabid weasels — and still making it to school on time. In days of old, schools didn’t close. The policy: “We will be open. Parents, you decide. Just know that if you keep your kid out, it counts against the record as “absent.”
———- ooo ———-
How did city plows do?
The necessary preface to that has to be that no amount of snow removal satisfies everybody. The people who enjoy crabbing will always crab, even if the plows got the roads bare enough so that you could see the misspelling of “School” on East Street in front of PHS.
That being said, there were numerous reports:
- Some streets ignored while other streets were plowed repeatedly
- Broken blades that hit bump outs
- The city ignoring illegally parked cars
- Plow jockeys going too fast for the conditions, clogging driveways and sidewalks
- Numerous fender-benders from a combo of badly plowed streets and stupid drivers.
———- ooo ———-
All in all, the city’s performance handling a pittance of snow checked in with the usual grade.
Citizens of Bitchfield, aren’t you glad you live in a city with an Administration that cares so much about you?
————————————————————
“Bitchfield’s fortunate that snow never piles as high as political corruption” — Sir Donald Turpentine, Knight of the Bath.
“OPEN THE WINDOW, AUNT MILLIE.”
LOVE TO ALL.

By tomorrow we will hear from the mayor that the city has already gone through its snow budget and needs to upfund it. Look for this to happen a few times during the year. The last few years received a comparative pittance of the usual snowfalls but budget numbers were still not pared nor were there any excess monies to be put back into the coffers. And don’t go talking about audits or crazy shit like that. Not in Pittsfield you don’t. Stop it right now. And what the hell is an audit anyway? Sounds like a made up word.
No. What they do is give themselves raises which comes out of the budget leaving less money for the maintenance of the roads. Audit is needed on all aspects of spending since Kufflinks tenure.
They wiped out my neighbors totes on west st. They weren’t near the road. Heard there were many lawn frontages dug up. Good grade though. F
Shouldn’t have been out. No Garbage pick up.
City should have sent a message through their phone system to everyone. No one knows what the garbage pick up schedule is this week. If it was for something happening on North St citizens would have received 4 or 5 calls to tell us North St would be closed even though no one drives down North St. How much do we pay for this phone blast system that they don’t use it?
Even the Snowman said it is too much to the 2-Pete’s.
What can we tell you the two Pete system blows.
The snowman gets a lump of coal and you got a free government bag.
Congrats on your early retirement J Low. Yes, you served your country well. You should be expecting a call someday to be the Parade Marshall in Bitchfield, as the last recipients weren’t nearly as qualified as yourself. A Theatre head and a Veteran that smoked three packs of smokes a day?
Possible future for your Fifty plus years retired, can’t beat it. And thank You for your service !
If you are illegal. No S n a p …..no benefritz
2024 MSM was screaming CRIMINAL ALIENS don’t get taxpayer/SNAP benefits.
2025 MSM is screaming POTUS Trump is taking those benefits away!
Rumor has it a homeless bum threatened someone at Steven Valenti’s yesterday. Imagine this upstanding businessman having this goings on in front of his store?
Lumpy wake up,we need these businesses to thrive and taxes from these entitities pay for Cardo yours and Kuffkinks raises and fluckups.
Downtown doesn’t struggle because of crime, or unhoused people, or a lack of great businesses. Downtown struggles because Pittsfield’s economy is anemic — and nobody in power wants to say that out loud.
Residents can’t afford to shop downtown. They’ll grab a meal on North Street, sure, but when it comes to spending real money, they go where prices match their paychecks — and that’s not boutique retail.
This city is stuck in a loop of its own making:
Low wages → limited spending → weak local economy → more blame placed on the wrong people.
Meanwhile, the folks who actually shape policy and culture skate by without accountability.
It’s not a community problem.
It’s a leadership problem.
The people of Pittsfield show grit, creativity, and loyalty every day. They’re the only reason anything here still has a pulse. But I won’t pretend I’m proud of a city government that keeps pointing fingers at the victims of its own economic decisions.
I’m proud of the people, not the politics.
The community, not the excuses.
And until leadership stops scapegoating and starts problem-solving, nothing changes.
Your paying for that bag.
Speaking of illegally parked cars, when is someone going to do something about those asshats that DAILY park their grey jeep UNDER A LITERAL NO PARKING SIGN on Elm Street just past Dorchester? I can’t tell you how often people almost get T-boned because they can’t see traffic because of those assholes parking and the bushes.
The cars across the street (directly across) park under their no parking signs too.
Where’s a cop or Ward counselor when you need them? Apparently, the cops in Lenox are dosing LSD on the job to deal with trauma, Pittsfields on pain meds and cock (not a misspelling). I personally hope someone smashes those assholes’ windows
