That’s how Donald Trump described the latest rekindling with the on-again, off-again, on-again pan of hash browns in Iran. Trump should know about potatoes. You remember how during Campaign 2024 he manned the French fry station at a McDonalds and slung them pretty good.
At least he did better with the earth apples than did VP Dan Quayle, who in 1992, visiting a New Jersey elementary school, participated in a spelling bee. Quayle’s word? Potato … only he spelled it with an “e” on the end. That caused a bright youngster to politely correct the Veep. And to think, this man was “a heartbeat away.” We never heard from him again.

Back to hash-slinger Trump and the Iran albatross. THE PLANET has lost count. Let’s see. In our tally, the United States has now won that war 18 times. War. That’s what it is, isn’t it? VP J. T. Vance says no. It’s not a war. It’s a conflict. You know, like Vietnam, where 58,220 American troops met their end. Technically, Vance is correct, but try telling that to those who have died, who have been maimed, who have seen their lives ravaged. Judging by the ruined landscapes and massive destruction, “conflict” sure looks like “war” to us. Ah, but there’s always a buck to be made, so what’s all the fuss?
This latest quixotic odyssey in foreign adventurism began on Feb. 28, when Benjamin Netanyahu went unilaterally au gratin and launched a massive attack on the mullahs, frosting a pissed-off Donald Trump. The Donald’s big mistake was being unable to swallow his pride by admitting that Netan The Yahoo acted on his own and against his master’s wishes.
Trump could have left Israel to deal with the mess alone, but no. In June the year before, U.S. bombers had reduced Iran’s nuclear capabilities back to Baltic Avenue. That threat had been eliminated. THE PLANET says that while also stating a truth that no one wants to hear, namely, that as a sovereign nation, Iran has every justification in wanting nukes. It happens to be that countries with nuclear weapons remain free from America’s manifest destiny.

Fast forward to today, and once more gas prices are climbing, settlement talks have fizzled, and hostilities have resumed. Both sides have dug in and they’re led by hard liners who love to posture as much as act. Iran promises to set up an exclusion zone in the Straight of Hormuz. Trump says don’t even think about it. Iran attacked a U.S. aircraft carrier and a destroyer, which our troops intercepted. America responded by hitting three Iranian oil tankers.

In this ping-pong match, one wonders if perhaps one side or the other will go too far. What that might look like THE PLANET can’t say, although the most outside speculations carry enough potato flakes to make a grim picture indeed.
Speaking of back-and-forth, look for Trump to pay a price in November. No surprise there, since mid-terms usually allow the party not in power to play off the foibles of the current Administration. It’s an old game, and it will mean little for the 2028 presidential affair. By then, it may all be potato chips.

Over the past year alone, Iran’s regime has mass murdered tens of thousands of its own people in brutal crackdowns, including minors. Iran also blacked out the Internet. Iran has detained tens of thousands of protesters and journalists alike, among others such as students, Human Rights defenders, Doctors, and others who protested the Iranian regime.
If one stands trial in Iran, it would make Pittsfield’s Good Old BOYS group of hypocritical sexual deviants who FRAMED Bernard Baran appear to be somewhat pseudo-fair. It would make Boston/Pittsfield’s millionaire LUCIFORO’s over 30-years of persecuting the have-NOT known as Jon Melle (me) look like I am O.K. instead of traumatized. In “the Pitts”, it would have the tagline “Small Potatoes”.
I liken Trump and Netanyahu’s February 28th, 2026 – present day 2026 military conflict against Iran’s regime to what did NOT happen 100 years ago in Germany prior to the rise of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Germany regime.
Had we had similar versions of Trump and Netanyahu in the mid-1920’s, then the World would have stopped Hitler and Nazi Germany from rising to power just like the World is stopping Iran from having nuclear weapons now.
What if Iran had nuclear weapons due to nobody stopping them? Would Israel continue to even exist or would their be a new Holocaust(s) worse than the one in the 1930’s until the end of WW2?
I understand that there are no easy or simple answers to Iran’s regime that abuses Human Rights by mass murder of its own people. I also understand that Iran should NOT have nuclear weapons. Even China agrees with Trump and Netanyahu on that point.

There’s also great coverage of southern Berkshire, especially Sheffield, Becket, Great Barrington, Otis and Stockbridge. Recently we read about the selling of a 91 acre tract in Richmond for housing development to Texas investors and how the town is considering voting in the opposite direction. Also the sale of a $1.3 million mansion in Hancock.
The saddest thing is that you PV denizens can’t see past your noses in trashing the BE because of your strong bias against its left-leaning editorial policy. This bias prevents y’all from seeing Quality where it exists. The BE is an award-deserving rag and should be treated like one.

The fuss is the families whose brothers sisters mothers and fathers have been told that the death of their loved ones won’t be eligible for war benefits.
Watching the “Full of Hot Air Clownsil” meeting last night was pathetically unbelievable. After almost three hours of complete asinine grand standing, my only thought was no wonder this City is going down the toilet.
First, why did the members of this Clownsil decide to seek election for this role if NONE of them have the time to read the agenda? Did they seek election for the health insurance?, or was it to inflate their egos further? Honestly did any of them look into what this role consisted of? Why are they just reading the information during the meeting. Then again, what is taking so long to provide the agenda? Why is the agenda 247 pages, why is it basically a novel. Or is Lumpy holding back information as he knows the members are not reading it?
I also ask why the Mayor and councilors are so afraid of Michael Hitchcock and his followers? First they sided with these folks allowing the “houseless” to make their homes in the doorways of retailers, which has driven many business out of Pittsfield and now they corralled them all to believe the grant for drones was all about ICE. Grant writer Margaret Gregory was very educated on the grant process, yet the councilors chose to side with the Hitchcock clan. So good ole Pits lost a $30,000 grant. What gets me is Hitchcock is NOT a Pittsfield resident.
I was appalled by Councillor Moody’s behavior towards the officer that was in attendence with Chief Marc to explain the workings of the drones. He was trying to explain an issue with the drone and Moody snarled at him and said “I did not ASK you question”, all I can say is WOW, what a bitch. Who does she think she is? She needs to take her pissed off attitude elsewhere. Anger Management is needed for her. I feel she owes that officer an apology.
Lampiasi was also on her high horse. Her comments to Warren about his legal knowledge and Cunningham about his technical knowledge were totally uncalled for and sarcastic. Who is she? What is her expertise? Being a mother of two? She also kept interrupting. Guess it was all about her.
Between Lampiasi and Hitchcock and their constant interrupting, Persip should have asked both of them to leave or be removed. Evidently, the Big Man doesn’t have any hoo hoo!s, so it was just another useless council meeting to screw up the City further.

President Trump is promising $5,000 dollars to every adult American if Republicans win the House and Senate. I’m already doing much better financially with Trump and the Republicans in office. The Democrats will flood our country with illegal immigrants again if they get power. We can’t allow that to happen.

and trumnp promised us all big bucks about a year ago and then denied ever saying it…but if he did give everyone 5 grand it would be out of their own money and still would not cover all the extra costs we have suffered due to his tariffs and high gasoline prices which are going to get worse every week
