That’s your job, your right, your privilege, and your duty. Do it! Just friggin’ do it! We exercised the franchise on Friday. Before we filled out the ballot, we paused, as we do each time we cast our choices, with this image: An 18-year-old soldier, scared to death, pouring out of a Higgins boat on D-Day. That kid risked his life so you could have a say today. Don’t waste his life. Be sure to vote.
With that, THE PLANET will be taking a much-needed R&R for the remainder of the week. We’ll be back on Monday, Nov. 14. Until then, you’re on your own. Your comments on the results are welcome below and all week. Please (he asked, futilely) be sharp, incisive, intelligent, and respectful.

To give you an idea of how pathetic the engagement was for this democrat election campaign, Trump won with less votes than Romney lost with.
Trump was not even born in this country. He should not have been on the ballot. The whole thing was rigged I tell ya.

Re: Open letter to Alan Chartock
With the Republican Party in control of the U.S. Congress and the White House for the next two years, they will have to be accountable and take responsibility for their successes and failures. Trump, McConnell and Speaker Ryan won’t be able to blame the Democrats if things go badly. It may lead to a Democratic majority in the U.S. Congress after the mid-term elections in 2018.
I predict Donald Trump will try to take away the freedom of the press (or news media). He will attack anyone who criticizes his administration. He may even try to jail his opponents! Trump is intimidating.
Donald Trump attacked “the others” in our nation. He targeted immigrants and Mexicans in particular. He took the anger working class people feel as they are falling behind into the underclass in our inequitable economy.
As a personal note, if I were married with children, I would feel the same way. I would worry about living in excess debt that I would never get out of. I would hope my children would make it out of the underclass.
The irony is that Donald Trump is wealthy and does not really understand what it is to be a “have not”. His late father was worth an estimated $300 million in 1990’s dollars. Donald Trump is worth billions of dollars. He is an effective salesman and made money off of real estate and casino gambling, which is regressive taxation!
On the state and federal level in Western Massachusetts, all of the delegates to Beacon Hill and Capitol Hill ran in unopposed or non-competitive “elections”. All year long, everyone knew that Adam Hinds would be the next Pittsfield State Senator, and Tricia Farley-Bouvier would win a third term as Pittsfield State Representative. Moreover, William “Smitty” Pignatelli ran unopposed for his eighth two-year term as Lenox State Representative. How many terms is this career political hack going to serve? Is Pignatelli going to die of old age in political office someday?
How come you, Alan Chartock, don’t write about the done deal, undemocratic politics in Western Massachusetts? Is it O.K. that there are unopposed or non-competitive state and federal Western Massachusetts “elections” every two years? Do you support the top-down, political hacks that control the government through one political party rule? Do you think these corrupt, insiders have tanked the local economy with trends of a declining population base and loss of industry and jobs?
It is an interesting set of circumstances between the fascist president-elect, Donald Trump, versus the Good Old Boys political network in Western Massachusetts. The common citizen is losing to the political elites and they are looking for someone new who promises them new opportunities to earn an equitable living to provide a financially secure future for their families.
Either way, I think the common citizens’ choices are not looking good. In Western Massachusetts, they are stuck with political hacks like “Smitty” Pignatelli. Nationally, they are going to be stuck with wealthy salesman named Donald Trump who will not come through on his promise to “Make America Great Again”.

Thank you, “Luciforo” aka Andrea F. Nuciforo, Jr. and Carmen Massimiano, Jr. for trying to jail me when I was 22 years old back in the Spring of 1998. Thank you, Denis Guyer, for allegedly spreading false rumors against me from 2004 – 2010. Thank you “Smitty” Pignatelli for refusing to sign my nomination papers for Berkshire State Senator in early-2004.

Denis Guyer is a powerful person in Pittsfield politics. He was married to Allison Crane and served as a Dalton Selectman and then as Dalton’s State Representative. Denis Guyer and Allison Crane divorced, and Denis Guyer was remarried to another woman. He worked for Iredale Cosmetics for a while and moved to Pittsfield where he supported the lovely Linda Tyer for Mayor in 2015. Mayor Linda Tyer appointed Denis Guyer to the position of Director of Maintenance.
Denis Guyer and I were in a 6 year conflict from 2004 – 2010. He allegedly spread vicious and false rumors about me all around Pittsfield’s political groups. Denis Guyer allegedly said that I belong in a psychiatric institution and that my mental illness during my honorable military service in the U.S. Army is all about my love for a Jewish woman from Otis. Denis Guyer allegedly publicly stated on July 23, 2005 at the Massachusetts Democratic Party meeting a Bousquet in Pittsfield that “all Jonathan Melle ever did was stalk a Jewish woman from Otis.” Peter Marchetti, who is a close ally to Denis Guyer, allegedly told people at a Pittsfield political event honoring John Forbes Kerry in 2006 that when I lived with his great Aunt, my late maternal Grandmother, that she asked me to leave, but my plan was to live in her Pittsfield home. All of these mean-spirited gossip and rumors were relayed to me after I moved to southern New Hampshire to live with my family.
It must be nice to be in politics and use your influence to bad-mouth someone such as myself. Denis Guyer was a close ally to Nuciforo when the two served in the State Legislature on Beacon Hill’s State House and Senate, respectively. Nuciforo has been using people to bully me since the Spring of 1996 when I was only 20 years old without Nuciforo leaving behind his own finger-prints. This is why both Pittsfield and politics sucks!

Definitely not a Trump fan, but both sides do and say whatever their followers want to hear to get elected. Trump is as political as any seasoned politician. It’s not a bad thing to be politically fluid when representing ALL Americans. I will be open minded.

I’m okay with him leaving a few items in like pre-existing condition coverage and staying on parents insurance till age 26. It’s the out of control prices and lack of choice in healthcare that people want to see thrown out. It will change into another plan completely, but still retain a few items that did work. What’s wrong with that?
He just says what he thinks people want to hear but offers no details on how he will fix it. My prediction is that he will make health care much more expensive. He wants to have high deductibles and have people save money each week towards their health care. Really. Look it up. Does not sound cheaper to me.

I am in despair that my taxes keep going up but the mayor has given another of her friendly donor millionaires a large tax break. Was there anything about this one in the Eagle?

On another note, wondering what our Senior citizens are thinking with question Five passed. On top of high taxes they get another levy for Springside House Restorations. Seniors haven’t seen a raise in years and many who received G E pensions were rated at the low end and not in line with what they pay todaybecuase of higher wages, by far.
I think it’s high time we drain the swamp in city hall!

I was listening to the King Krol Kool Krol-Aid hour and it had Johnny LO on, and he was talking about lawn signs in front of apartments and doubted if the tenants voted. That was definable as a slight im sure to Chris Connel. Why are these shows supported by taxpayer funds and supposedly for the students in political hands, that could sway voters or candidates, or projects?
It says in the New Eagle John and Abigail Adams recipients at Taxoic High School with receive free a tuition at any U Mass Campus, this is for four years also…..not bad! BUT I DOUBT IT!
The CPA could be the last straw that breaks the back of some small businesses. The new health insurance rate increase is ridiculously high. Then add in all the other expenses that a business owner pays. I read a previous post that explains the payment formula. What would the cost be to a struggling business with property valued at 1 or 2 million?
If they are that fickle then their business plan sucks.
Denis Guyer was fired for alledgedly making anti-gay statements around the workplace, and was going thru his budget like water. The Mayor wants to bring in Greg Yon to do the job.
Drain the Swamp
The so-called protests have crossed the line. For every peaceful protest in one city, there are riots in others. Assaults of Trump supporters, attacking police, these people are showing their true colors and potential for violence. It’s all about bigotry according to the rioters. All Trump supporters are racists they say as they use a broad brush to stereotype Trump supporters. These people are portraying all Trump supporters as being of one mind. To me this is treasonous behavior. They want to overthrow the decision fairly made by the people of this country. They are being encouraged by all of the progressive newspapers throughout the country like the Berkshire Eagle. Even Linda Tyer comes forward and adds her own divisive remarks. George Soros and the big money that went toward getting Hillary elected are also encouraging this behavior.
Donald Trump said he wants immigrants in the country to use legal means to become citizens and we should be cautious with people coming from terror prone areas. These are all policies that European countries wish they had adopted. The citizens in Europe agree which is why they are voting out any politicians who think otherwise.
WhIch probably means no more Syrian refugees.
White working class people just want the government to give them free stuff.
The working class doesn’t get free stuff because they are WORKING. The want job opportunities so they don’t need to work 3 or 4 jobs to equal one job. They want lower taxes so their money goes further. They want lower healthcare so it doesn’t eat into their limited amount of money. It’s INSULTING to say they want free stuff. By the way, this applies to all races. I say lots of people of all races standing side by side holding signs supporting Trump at his rallies.
Lots of jobs locally. Ask BMC and GD. Problem is you actually have to have to be qualified. You can’t expect to have a high paying job without putting the time and energy into your education.
Not everybody is going to be able to work for the school department and BMC. DIVERSITY of jobs is needed in this county and in this country. That’s the trouble with Pittsfield. There are 2 major employers. If you don’t have the connections and notice I say connections and not qualifications, if you don’t have the CONNECTIONS, you don’t get the jobs. Pittsfield needs more than these 2 employers to have plenty of jobs for everyone. Progressives are all about diversity, but they don’t understand that when it comes to employment we need jobs for all levels of workers. That can be done with the right political leadership.
