Santa-Joe just saved the Kapanskis from an economic Inquisition. He did it by announcing that he wouldn’t support his party’s Build Back Better plan.
Okay, so it’s not Burl Ives with a “Holly, Jolly, Christmas,” but in a pandemic, this is what passes for “good cheer.”
The BBB needed some truth in advertising, and Manchin would have made Larry Tate and Don Draper proud for revealing it as TDW: Tear Down Worse.

Manchin borrowed Clark Kent’s X-Ray vision and saw deeply into the proposal, pegged at $3.5 trillion with an actual cost of between $5.5 and 7 trillion (Congressional Budget Office). And just how did Democrats plan to pay for all the new social-services spending?
They didn’t.
Manchin and nearly everyone who argued against the bill realized this. The bill’s supporters shared three avenues of payment:
- Huge tax hikes
- Flooding the economy with more printed dollars
- Accounting tricks and gimmicks — the kind that has been turned into an art by government at all levels (see “P” for “Pittsfield, Mass.”).
- THE PLANET can’t go through all the bad medicine in the 2,465-page, 444,311-word spending plan, but we can give you a taste. All good cooks and moms know that to judge if the soup is ready, all you need is a sip. Here’s your sip of the BBB:
- It would greatly increased the child tax credit.
- $285 billion tax cut for the rich (you read that right).
- Government-subsidized child care.
- Paid-leave provisions required of private employers.
- Government pre-school.
- Government monitoring of every bank account worth $600 or more.
- The dreaded “equity” provisions to create a more “inclusive, diversive” America. Read as “a more exclusive, homogenous” club of minorities. Equity provisions are for the “underserved.” Right. Look at that word. “Served.” It says that taxpayers are the “servants” of a class of people that include bums, “houseless,” addicts, drug dealers, criminals, illegal immigrants and other salts of the earth.
- $25 million for “anti-bias and anti-discrimination training.” Teaches that everyone must hate white men who don’t use beard wax.
- $1 billion for “electrical vehicle equity.” Putting in electric fuel stations in slums and neighborhoods with high rates of poverty, murder, and drugs.
- $12 billion for something called “climate justice.” Don’t ask.
- Massive grants to “disadvantaged communities.”
And remember, folks. This is the scaled-down version the Dems presented after trying for double the amount. Fortunately, there were enough clear heads to sniff out the strategy. It’s an old one: Ask for way more than you truly want then end up what you’re willing to take. Fortunately, because of patriots like Joe Manchin, even the “scaled-down” version didn’t fly.
For the time being, We the People have stalled this latest attempt to overthrow America.
“My Democratic colleagues in Washington are determined to dramatically reshape our society in a way that leaves our country even more vulnerable to the threats we face,” Manchin said. “I cannot take that risk.”
Neither can America, that is, Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski. They still define America.
For the moment.

Mr. Fritz, I do NOT agree with the Utopian Green New Deal HOT AIR and Biden’s unfunded multitrillion-dollar Social Services Democratic bill, nor do I agree with Trump’s MAGA White Nationalist political movement. What do I want instead of Utopian Socialism or alt right (Nazi) MAGA Trumpism? I want the government to start investing in the people again like it did over 50 years ago so the USA can rebuild its post-WW2 Middle Class that was an economic model for the world in the 1950s and 1960s. It is NOT rocket science! The government should fund well performing public schools and skilled job training programs, affordable housing and healthcare insurance, promote businesses that pay employees a living wage, have financial policies and programs that support family financial security, have solvent Social Insurance programs and public-option retirement plans for all workers, and begin to use its public funds to help the people in the most need of government assistance. In 2021 going into 2022, our country is very economically unequal. It should not be that way. I wish everyone in our society had an equal opportunity to live a rewarding life for themselves and their family. Instead, only the financial, corporate and ruling elites are succeeding, while the rest of us can only dream of having it so good in our lives. I wish all of the corrupt career politicians would stop with their Utopian propaganda hot air and start representing the people and taxpayers who voted for them to spend decades in elected public office! I know it is just a wish.

The role of government is to protect its citizens, not to provide for their every need.
Working hard results in a rewarding life. There are jobs galore for anyone looking for employment. Government assistance programs should be cut WAY back.

I like it that you disagree with my viewpoints, Mr. Fritz, because we live in a free country. There are holes in your argument about the role of government in our society. First, the government redistributes most of our income to the super wealthy; think of it as a rectangle where the Federal Reserve prints money for the Swamp to spend and send to Wall Street to invest and then send it to foreign banks, which means that the American People never see any real gains in their income for the past 50 years and counting. Second, post-industrial America has large swaths of our country called the Rust Belt – see post-GE Pittsfield Massachusetts – where there are little to no living wage jobs for the average working-class family. Third, the ruling elites all have it made as long as they play ball and do the bidding of Wall Street, K Street, big business and big government. Fourth, during the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009, the U.S. Government used the American People as an insurance policy that Uncle Sam cashed-in in order to bailout Wall Street with trillions of federal dollars and also bailout foreign banks in Europe and Asia that do business on Wall Street with hundreds of billions of federal dollars – the U.S. national debt is now over $29 trillion with its Wall Street-based political system and military industrial complex. Fifth, it would be EVIL to purposefully allow a person and/or family to be homeless, hungry, unsafe and insecure due to the imperfect economic system we pretend to call Capitalism. Don’t you have any HUMANITY, Mr. Fritz? Or are you like Scrooge and believe is Social Darwinism whereby the marginalized people in our society should die off because they are too powerless and poor to survive? I will gladly mail Joe Manchin a Christmas card. The Build Back Bankrupt (BBB) bill was an absolute monstrosity. This was going to cripple the middle class, and enrich the Xiden’s, Obama’s, Clinton’s, Bush’s, and the dregs of society.
A couple of three things about this bill:
(1) China and Russia spend their money on their military and defense. Not climate change. So, while America weakens it’s military to make a few do-gooders feel good about their electric cars and so Barry Obama and his ilk can fly their private jets around the world, China and Russia will spend on their military.
(2) Besides Democrats, with the rising cost of inflation, gas prices, supply chain issues, crisis at the southern border, poor Afghanistan exit leaving Americans behind, not having an “answer” to the virus as China Joe Xiden told us he did in the summer of 2020, who else is worried about child care and universal pre-K? I know I’m not.
(3) A fact MSM won’t share, West Virginia, the state Joe Manchin represents, has universal pre-K for kids, that is NOT GOVERNMENT funded/controlled. If a poor state like WV can have universal pre-K, why don’t liberal bastions like CA, NY, or even MA, not have this program?
A quick little fact, a friend of mine is an RN at a major city hospital here in the US. She told me she took care of an unemployed, not married, early 30’s year-old woman. She was there having her 11th child. The women told my RN friend happily, that of the 11 kids, they have 7 different fathers.
Under Build Back Bankrupt, that woman would receive $300 per month, per kid. By my math, that woman would get paid over $3000 a month of tax feee money, not including other welfare benefits (SNAP, WIC, affordable housing, etc), to have children, and do nothing else.
I didn’t go to school, the military, and work all my life, to just give my tax money away for BS like that.

All I want for Christmas is for a Berkshire journalist to be a journalist and make a public records request to the DA’s office for alll the charges filed in district court during 2018-2021 that resulted in a dismissal.
While you’re at it, ask for a list of lawyers and their experience level now vs. pre-Wrong Way and I think you will have your cause and effect.

2000 people died of COVID Tuesday. 1600 more yesterday. Ok, I hate to break to you Willoughby, but people die. It’s a fact of life.
How many died in America from fentanyl OD’s over those days? How many died from fatal traffic accidents over those days? How many committed suicide over those days?
You see where I’m going with this Willoughby? People die.
Another quick lesson for you Willoughby. Are you aware a virus weakens as it mutates? If it didn’t, it’d kill off the host and subsequently itself. Viruses have been on earth long before humans.
I guess the moral of the story, if you want to leave in fear, cool, I have no issue with it. But I’m not playing ball anymore. It’s winter time people get sick. Much like dying, people tend to get sick in the colder weather.
It’s why the human Rolodex, Jimmy Rob-u-too-Berto, lives in FL during the winter months.
Yes they do, MARK. Die, that is. And isn’t that the choice, always, in view of the fragility of life: Live in fear or do your best with what you have and live a good life!
I don’t give a rats ass if MARK gets a shot. It just bothers me that he would be discouraging others from getting it.
By the way our Republican governor just the risk in Mass. to SEVERE. That is the highest it goes.
So what. Live your life. Government is usually on the wrong side of everything. Follow the money.
Betcha by mid January you will have changed your tune. Some people gotta be hit over the head.
Many have died with Covid. Not as many from Covid. Almost at the 20,000 mark from dying from the jab, plus Hundreds of thousands with severe adverse effects from the jab. Please pay attention.

You missed a great one. I never got to see Chuck as a hitter, but talking to those who did and looking at his records, including his spectacular showing in two AAABA tournaments, one that featured many future big leaguers such Ron Swoboda, fellow Majestics teammate Art Ditmar, Steve Garvey, Bernie Carbo, Reggie Jackson, Barry Larkin, Al Kaline, Wilbur Wood, Mark Fidrych, Willie Randolph, Ed Kranepool, Joe Foy, Ruben Amaro, and many more. Chuck is still the all-time tournament batting king, and in 2016, he was elected to the AAABA Hall of Fame. Was Pittsfield a baseball hotbed back in the day? The Pittsfield Majestics appeared in the elite AAABA tournament each year from 1947 to 1955, competing with the best teams in the nation, and twice it won the championship. And of all these hitters, Chuck led them all. THAT’s how good he was. It only begins to describe how good a MAN CG was and still is to this day.
Thank you Dan. I truly wasn’t aware of all of Mr. Garivaltis’s accomplishments. Just thought he was a smart caring person.

Days before the groom’s ambush, the progressive district attorney claimed that “we don’t have a crisis of lawlessness, we don’t have a crisis of crime, we don’t have a crisis of violence.” The remarks infuriated Philadelphia residents, who are the victims of the crime he said doesn’t exist.

The Lovely Linda is allegedly: (a) hiring new Pittsfield Public School staff at hourly rates below the current (Massachusetts) state minimum wage of ($13.50/hour), (b) giving her city administration raises of 9-12 percent while (falsely) telling the Pittsfield public school staff that none the district’s $29.9 Million in federal and state aid can be used to adjust and increase our salaries, and (c) refusing to acknowledge how much the Pittsfield Public School staffs’ families are suffering because they cannot see it from the neighborhoods where they live! (The Lovely Linda lives in a mansion in a millionaires-only gated community within a few feet of the Hancock border where she and her wealthy CPA husband Barry Clairmont park their Lexus luxury cars at night). In the past, Mayor Linda Tyer said that it was due to a lack of funding, but that is NOT the case anymore. Mayor Linda Tyer is sitting on tens of millions of dollars in cash. The Pittsfield Public School staff state that they are being exploited and ignored by the Mayor Linda Tyer municipal administration that leads Pittsfield politics.
