‘HOUSELESSNESS’ AND THE COuNCIL: STILL NO ROOM AT THE INN

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY AUG. 18, 2025) — As THE PLANET extends our VAY-KAY time, we will offer this quick comment on “houselessness” to jump start another week of community discussion. As you know, we are the only media site left for real-time, uncensored remarks.

For the city of Bitchfield, the feckless city council continues to show all the spine of a tub of goo spilled from a Tupperware container. THE PLANET‘s Right Honorable Good Friends met for their sole August meeting and decided …

… nothing.

The issue’s been too hot for them handle. Approving more tax increases is more their speed, and instead of keeping the meeting going, they punted and shanked the kick. Of course, Mayor Lumpy has been just as bad, bowing to pressure from the “Homes Not Handcuffs” bunch. We’re not saying who’s right and who’s wrong on an insolvable issue that has valid arguments on both sides, but Lumpy’s career of licked fingers and cowardly vacillation has added a fourth star to his epaulets. The guy simply won’t take a stand. He lacks the confidence.

Incidentally, the vote to extend the meeting failed, with the following councilors deeming their time too precious to deal with the matter. They call it arrogance, right Costa-Plenty, Britt No-Doz, Sleepy Conant the Barbarian, and Dizzy Dina? Those who rightly wanted to keep going needed a supermajority of 8 votes. The measure to extend failed 7-4.

During the chaos amid the discussion, the cliche “root causes” rang out, as in the city’s proposal failed to address the issue’s underlying causes  What advocates for the homeless fail to sufficiently realize, merely providing a dwelling for someone doesn’t address the reasons they are without shelter. A private home doesn’t cure addiction or mental illness, nor will it magically supply a job with a living wage. Both sides continue to miss the point, although THE PLANET will take fiery Michael Hitchcock’s frankness over the  maggot words of the politicians.

THE PLANET offer no solutions. We shall leave that to our readers.

Meanwhile, we are heading for lands out of range and touch. We have our anti-GPS death ray switched to the “on” position.

Stay well, everybody!

Then why does Boston send them to Pittsfield?

Then why does the government spend so much money on social services?

Then why do we have charities?

You really are asking why Boston sent them to Bitchfield JM?

Your “lovely,” Linda “Flat” Tyer-Clairmont brought (or is it was bought?) a bunch of bums, drug addicts, and mentally unstable Boston-area people, during the China-flu scamdemic for “grant money.”

Flat Tyer-Clairmont’s grant money haul not only brought us the Ricky Rumpus Roundabout on Tyler Street, but it also made outsiders jealous of the “diversity and inclusion” it brought to the area

OP wrote above why the government spends “so much money on social services.” Follow the money.

If there weren’t any bums or drug addicts to spend tax money on, how would a bureaucrat with a degree in “cultural studies” find work?

Why do we have charities? Why not?

People can spend or donate their money the way THEY WANT. That’s called Capitalism and a free market. People who work for a living and earn their own money usually creates jealousy amongst the welfare rats and those dependent on da guberMINT. They believe taxpayers should pay for their addiction fueled, lazy, existence.

Will Zelensky be wearing the same stinky sweatshirt as at last February’s visit to DC , today?

After Trump and Vance put the little cross dressing Tyrant in his place, he was insolent and un-greatfull, for the billions in $$$ US taxpayer dollars Biden gave him to launder. He then pouted and left a pauper empty handed.

It’s reported Zelensky is afraid of Vance and fears he may be at the meeting today.

Trump is going to give Zelensky another check, a reality check , for $0 US Taxpayer dollars.

Let the career politicians live on a part-time minimum wage job, Medicaid, at-risk of being homeless, in distressed neighborhoods with their own children attending Level 5 public schools in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Oh yeah, that is right, they don’t have to pound sand like the Underclass residents that Mayor Peter Marchetti is proposing to feed to the wolves with his fines on the have-not’s of inner-city Pittsfield.

Keep spending tens of millions of dollars more than similarly sized small cities, including the fact that Pittsfield spends over $62 million per fiscal year more than Westfield.

The fictional Kapanski’s won’t thank you for the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics pounding people’s purses….and….persecuting people.

How many times do we have to beat this into your thick skulls? Homelessness and addiction are not the same thing. There are senior couples out there—clean, sober, with actual incomes—who are still homeless. And yet here you are, still spouting ignorance. This is exactly why no one respects you or wastes their time in conversation with you—because you’d rather stay willfully stupid than educate yourself.

When social institutions allow the Underclass residents to be homeless, panhandle, live in poverty, not having access to affordable healthcare and insurance, and so on, without adequate assistance, then it is a STRUCTURAL ASSAULT that we all still pay for.

It still costs taxpayers a lot of money to pay for the Underclass. The reasonable policy is called TARGETED ASSISTANCE. Find ways to meet the needs of the people who live at the ROCK BOTTOM of society, such as shelter, food aid, community clinics for healthcare, government assistance, disability programs, and the like.

The “Big 3” of abuses, conflicts and violence are:

1. Interpersonal Assaults, such as verbal assaults and physical assaults.

2. Structural Assaults, such as homelessness, poverty, joblessness, uninsured, and the like. This is the exact illustration of Mayor Peter Marchetti’s CRUEL proposals for homelessness and panhandling in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

3. Cultural Assaults, such as racism, sexism, and so on. This is the exact illustration of the EVIL leadership of Adolf Hitler close to 100 years ago, and the misguided leadership of Donald Trump’s MAGA White Nationalist so-called Christian political leadership today in 2025.

When we see any or all of the “Big 3”, we are supposed to STOP the abuses, conflicts and violence, and then we are supposed to find positive resolutions to make everyone whole again.

Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

Mayor Peter Marchetti has been called CRUEL, a FASCIST, a BULLY, a STRUCTURAL RACIST, and other derisive names. He is a CONTROVERSIAL leader in Pittsfield. He is named in a federal sex discrimination/harassment civil lawsuit by Victoria May against the Pittsfield Cooperative Bank when Peter Marchetti was one of her three men managers there a few years ago.

My solution to all of what lies ahead at the September 09th, 2025, Pittsfield City Council meeting is to call out Mayor Peter Marchetti, and ask him to resign from his current elected position. Enough is enough! Mayor Peter Marchetti has DISGRACED himself.

Plus new Hobo housing units going up. Yeah, it’s Happening in Downtown Pittsfield!

I agree with you VV. And sadly the situation is going to get much worse and their is nothing, nothing, that can stop it. The more money sucked out of the lower income people into the hands of the wealthy assures this very sad situation.
The country is in an economic spiral on many levels and even if the federal government wanted to help it is too late. This administration has yanked out many of the pillars supporting the economy many of them of a global nature. Much of the world does not even want to do business with us. Trump has been mean, spiteful and vindictive to both our enemies and allies. There is no longer a government on the planet that trusts America and they are all either overtly or covertly moving away from trading with us and forming new alliances. Farmers are losing their farms. Business are closing.

63 US corporate bankruptcies in June set up 2025 for highest pace since 2010By Sean Longoria and Umer Khan

The fast pace of monthly US corporate bankruptcies extended into June and put 2025 on track to be one of the busiest years for filings in more than a decade.
S&P Global Market Intelligence recorded 63 new bankruptcy filings from certain public and private companies in June, down from a revised count of 64 in May. The data includes companies with public debt and assets or liabilities of at least $2 million or private companies with assets or liabilities of at least $10 million at the time of filing.
Still, 371 bankruptcy filings have been recorded throughout 2025, the highest total for the first half of the year since 2010.
Corporate liquidity has largely worsened in 2025 as debt levels for many companies have risen and the US Federal Reserve is poised to hold benchmark interest rates at their current level through the summer. Consumer spending, meanwhile, is straining under the weight of a cooling job market, inflation still above monetary policymakers’ targets and the Trump administration’s tariffs.

Farm Bankruptcies Surge in 2025, Raising Alarms Across U.S. AgricultureBy
Jim Eadie

July 16, 2025

comment image
The U.S. agricultural sector is facing renewed financial stress in 2025, as farm bankruptcies rise sharply, reflecting deepening economic pressures across the countryside — including among pork producers.
According to multiple reports, including recent data from Bloomberg Law, the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Chapter 12 farm bankruptcy filings jumped 55% in the past year compared to 2023 and are trending even higher in 2025.
Between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, there were 259 Chapter 12 filings nationally, with the first quarter of 2025 alone seeing 88 filings — nearly double the 45 filings recorded during the same period in 2024.

They are most definitely in some cases related! As I stated “SOME”. I know that for a fact as a young family member had everything one could want, good family, great job, a beautiful home to live in etc.., but because of a DRUG addiction lost everything and became HOMELESS and suffered POVERTY for sometime because of the addiction. The whole family tried to help to no avail because the person wanted drugs and not help. The person couldn’t even play by the rules (drug use) when different family members tried to shelter, feed, spend $ to help get clean .

So what? Sometimes divorce happens because of domestic violence. Should every single divorce automatically be labeled that way? I mean, if you’re divorced, you must be an abuser or a cheater, right?
STOP lumping people together and spitting out lazy assumptions. This kind of blanket judgment is exactly why no real solutions ever come forward—you don’t want knowledge, you want easy narratives. Instead of facing facts, you just slap labels on people you think are beneath you. And in doing so, you’ve made yourself part of the problem.

Well we know the real solutions DO NOT include housing them, when that happened at St. Joe, with a vendor (ServiceNet) helping the “houseless were so Thankful they crapped everywhere inside and outside…and not in toilets, so they don’t need them either. Let’s go back to calling them what they really are by law, vagrants. Arrest and move them out. Berkshire County’s jail does a great job at rehabilitating and could really help turn them into active participants in a civilized society.

If the clowncil really cared about the houseless of the Pitts then they would all resign their positions off $10,000.00 a year of doing nothing so the houseless could have money and health benefits for doing exactly what they do now,,,,nothing! How can our government leaders only work 3 hours for one night and decide that is too long and stressful. WOAH.This mess is not on the PPD. They no longer have any technical or digital expert inside the department—that was stripped away. The real problem sits at City Hall with Kevin Zawistowski, the CIO. Maybe start by asking him how well he’s handling the massive technical and digital demands of the police department. Then, go ahead and ask the officers themselves what it’s like trying to operate without trained, capable tech support.
Don’t put this on the PPD. The chaos you’re seeing is the direct result of City Hall corruption bleeding into the department. If you’re looking for accountability, stop scapegoating and start calling out the actual problem.

Just a suggestion for the Mayor and CC members. How about asking the dispatchers for the police and fire departments to keep a running tally for one week on how many overdoses, well being checks, drunkenness, substance abuse, shop lifting and Section 12 and Section 35’s they have to deal with just around the downtown area. Maybe when the Mayor and CC see it in writing they will finally realize what taxpayers are dealing with as they don’t believe us now. Because of this behavior most of the police cruisers spend their days in the downtown area babysitting these folks. It’s no wonder the traffic issues are out of control, the police can’t be in two places at once, their babysitting duties take priority. Us taxpayers are also footing the bill for all the free ambulance rides these folks get every day only to spend a couple hours at the ER and then released to pick-up where they left off. Change is needed to make the downtown area safe again. Changing the bike lane pattern AGAIN is not the solution. The Mayor and CC members need to get their heads out of their egotistical butts.

These final FY 2024 numbers surpass VA’s goal by over 16%, marking the largest number of Veterans housed in a single year since FY 2019
WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced it housed 47,925 Veterans experiencing homelessness in FY 2024, surpassing its goal to house 41,000 Veterans by 16.9% and marking the largest number of Veterans housed in a single year since FY 2019. VA also ensured that 96% of the Veterans housed during this time did not return to homelessness. This follows last month’s announcement that VA had surpassed its FY 2024 housing goal a month early.
Ending Veteran homelessness is a top priority for VA and the entire Biden-Harris Administration. Since FY 2022, VA has permanently housed nearly 134,000 homeless Veterans, and the total number of Veterans experiencing homelessness in the U.S. has fallen by over 4% since early 2020 and by more than 52% since 2010.
“Nearly 48,000 formerly homeless Veterans now have a safe, stable place to call home — and there’s nothing more important than that,” said VA Secretary Denis McDonough. “No Veteran should experience homelessness in this nation they swore to defend. We are making real progress in this fight, and we will not rest until Veteran homelessness is a thing of the past.”
VA has also made progress in combating Veteran homelessness in the Greater Los Angeles area, permanently housing 1,854 homeless Veterans this fiscal year — the most of any city in America (for the third year in a row) and exceeding VA’s FY 2024 goals for this region by 15.5%. Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority’s recent Point-in Time count revealed a 22.9% reduction in Veterans experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles between 2023 and 2024.
VA’s efforts to combat Veteran homelessness are grounded i

We have a worsening homeless problem here in Pittsfield because of all of the illegal immigrants that the Democrats brought here. The Democrats should have been focused on finding affordable housing for Americans instead of bending over backwards to house illegal immigrants and spending millions of taxpayer dollars to do it. Just imagine how they could have solved the homeless problem here if they had their priorities straight.

Looks like you have solved the homelessness problem. Is electing a republican mayor a simple fix? Will the down and out among us refuse to live in a republican run city?

Some times problems seem insurmountable when the answer is right in front of our faces. If I remember correctly Mr Kerwood is/was/who knows these days, a republican and if he would run for mayor we may have a new beginning and he would probably allow a forensic audit as well.

Meanwhile, are you trying to overtake TSC as the biggest bat$hit crazy. left-loon, on The Planet? Or have just run out of democRAT talking points and are grasping for straws now?

“….Mr. Kerwood is/was/who knows these days, a republican….”

First off, this statement in and of itself is absolutely stupid. Eddie Munster Kerwood, has been a tried-and-true, registered democRAT every year he’s been involved in Bitchfield politics. That goes back over 20 years.

Second, would a left-loon like former failed mayor Linda “Flat” Tyer-Clairmont, have a straight, white-male, Republican, on her staff? Not only no, but hell no.

She’s much like yourself Meanwhile. People who think Dirty Barry Clairmont, Mayor Lumpy, and Wimpy White, are “real men,” and that the thinking of traditional men, equates to “toxic masculinity.”

And lastly, MAGA Republicans, unlike you and your fellow democRATS, are staunchly opposed to racist programs like (D)idn’t (E)arn (I)t. Matt Kerwood has talked about how DEI helps bring “diversity and inclusiveness” into the workplace and community.

Saying Kufflinks Kerwood is a republican is about as foolish as me stating on here that Jonathan Melle has been selected to lead the NH MAGA Committee.

To paraphrase Gerry Doyle’s former proclamation, “It Ain’t Happening.”

August 19, 2025

I had breakfast with my Veteran friend who once lived in Pittsfield (MASS.) in NH this morning. He asked me what happened at the Pittsfield City Council meeting on August 12th with Mayor Peter Marchetti’s anti-homeless proposal. I told him that it was not dealt with, and that it will be voted on at the next City Council meeting on September 09th.

I said that the Mayor and City Council should write to Governor Maura Healey to let her know about the homeless residents that Boston sent to inner-city Pittsfield. My Veteran friend told me that they should contact the State Representatives instead, who would then ask for a meeting with the Governor.

I told my Veteran friend that the State Representatives are useless “back-benchers” in Boston, and that the Governor would not take them seriously. She did not take me seriously when her office emailed me to contact Pittsfield officials who failed to address the alleged scandals at Pittsfield High School (PHS), which is my Alma Mater, Class of 1993.

I told my Veteran friend that when my dad was a politician in Berkshire County decades ago now, the State Representatives did not like it when I talked to them. I said that the State Representatives would snap back at me. I said that the State Representatives are only interested in money, and people saying “Yes” to them.

My point of this letter is that it is futile for “Jon Melle” the “have not” whose native hometown is Pittsfield to exercise my free speech in the government that has turned into an Oligarchy. Governor Healey’s administration sent the homeless people from Boston to Pittsfield, Mayor Peter Marchetti wants to fine them for being homeless in Pittsfield, and the State Representatives think that they are Royalty to be praised for being useless in Boston.

Did you guys discuss how failed MA Gov Maura Healey has destroyed the Commonwealth with her TDS?

$1,000,000,000 went to house illegal aliens. Not towards US Veterans or even the “underclass,” who you constantly post about on here. That money couldn’t have helped them. Or cities in MA dealing with the “houseless” problem created by the Autopen Presidency bringing in millions of illegal aliens without a thought to house them.

Healey ends $1B shelter program, rival says essentially ‘I told you so’ | Fox News

I bet you two Vets were furious about the way Gov Healey $hit on US Vets and kicked them out of housing, in favor of illegal aliens.

Battenfeld: Healey faces more national heat over her treatment of Massachusetts veterans

And finally, I bet you two Veterans talked about when Barry Obama and his treasonous band of deep staters created the “Russian Hoax” and ordered the FBI not to investigate Killary Clinton, so it wouldn’t hurt her presidential election chances.

You do you remember the oath of office you took when you signed up for the US Army? To protect against all enemies foreign and domestic.

In case you forgot:

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):”I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

Yes, the only homeless having a roof over their heads are the homeless coming from other countries…the illegal immigrants. The Democrats paid hundreds of dollars per night for them to stay in fancy hotels, they are helping them with rent, and even pushed to have Massachusetts residents take them into their homes. Nothing of this magnitude was ever done for the homeless of America. Even if anyone thinks that there is no obligation to provide housing for American homeless then you should also put down the huge amounts of money spent to house illegal immigrant homeless.

The “HERO Act” in Massachusetts refers to the most comprehensive legislation for veterans ever passed in the Commonwealth. Signed into law by Governor Maura Healey in August 2024, it aims to modernize and expand veterans’ services by enhancing inclusivity and support.

Key provisions of the HERO Act include:

Improved access to behavioral health services.

Increased benefits for disabled veterans. This includes expanding the motor vehicle excise tax exemption to veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating or those deemed unemployable by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Incentives for businesses that employ veterans.

An updated and more inclusive definition of “veteran”.

An expanded role for the Veterans Equality Review Board.

Codified access to medical and dental benefits.

In essence, the HERO Act represents a significant step towards ensuring that veterans in Massachusetts receive the care, compassion, and services they need and deserve.

Obfuscation and deflection on your part Johnny.

D-Healey kicked Veterans out of shelters to house, CRIMINAL ALIENS, to the tune of ONE BILLION DOLLARS.

I as a US CITIZEN, I paid for this through my taxes, that were purloined and squandered by our crooked Governor.

Tom Homan needs to arrest BOTH D-Healey and Boston mayor D-Wu and deliver them to the DOJ for prosecution and trials.

Did you vote for a Mayor with a big beer belly who spends over $226.2 million per fiscal year 2026 of our taxpayer dollars while proposing punitive measures against the Underclass residents of Pittsfield?

At least he is not Voltron the porkchop who thinks that everyone on the City Council is wonderful, while the public speakers say otherwise.

The 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics pounds people’s purses, and persecutes people with their retribution, while they spend tens of millions of dollars more than similarly sized small cities such as Westfield.

Westfield’s fiscal year 2026 budget: $163.84 million

Pittsfield’s fiscal year 2026 budget: $226.2 million

Net difference between Westfield and Pittsfield’s budget is $62.36 million from July 01, 2025 – June 30, 2026.

Westfield and Pittsfield are two similarly sized small cities in Western Massachusetts.

How does the Berkshire Eagle and other news media outlets and blogs not cover Pittsfield’s spending spree under Mayor Peter Marchetti?

On September 09th, 2025, the Pittsfield City Council will vote on Mayor Peter Marchetti’s encampment ban proposal against the homeless residents that he wants to fine for the “crime” of sleeping outside with no other alternatives.

Doesn’t anyone understand economics and finance? The landlords have to pass on higher monthly rent bills to the working-class renters due to the fact that Mayor Peter Marchetti is spending over $62 million more than Westfield.

This is NOT rocket science! The problem is not the homeless sleeping outside. The problem is the career politicians – Governor Maura Healey – who dumped poor people from Boston in distressed cities such as Pittsfield, Mayor Peter Marchetti spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars more than Pittsfield should, and then he wants to fine them because they need to sleep outside with no other alternatives.

Pittsfield is broken. Boston is broken. The career politicians – Governor Maura Healey and Mayor Peter Marchetti – are misguided and wrong on this matter. The State Representatives are useless in Boston.

Who will step up between now – August 19th, 2025 and the City Council meeting on September 09th, 2025 – to call out the Governor in Boston and Mayor of Pittsfield alike on their failed leadership?

Governor Maura Healey cut hundreds of millions of dollars in state funding for social services.

Pittsfield is spending tens of millions of dollars more than they should. Pittsfield is facing crises with homelessness and panhandling.

Mayor Peter Marchetti is being called a cruel bully, a fascist, and a structural racist by protesters. The common city taxpayers are struggling to pay for his spending spree.

What gives?

In the Cruel and Unusual Punishment category experienced by thousand of Massachusetts License holders. The Newly Weaponized Registry of Motor Vehicle’s are adding on Suspension to Drivers, some dating decades and generations ago, adjudicated no less and prohibiting any driving unless you pay todays rate fine from that infraction, ( sometime thousands) and in many cases make you use a brethylizer machine for ignition costing thousands?

There are many-suspensions after adjudication where there is flawless driving since but still they suspend the licens

They ( R M V ) adding a suspension to your previous record which could result in jail time on a subsequent offense, isn’t that enough. Which Is great if you are a habitual offender. But the fine is the kicker.

If you don’t pay it you have to fight it and you’re gonna lose anyway, because the fine is 20 times what you were originally fined decades ago abd hearings are months away and you can’t drive. What the fuck is wrong with our politicians.

The Lawyers are surely making money on this.

Law enforcement is the simple answer to the homeless on the streets and in the parks. This city is going down the shitter like the once beautiful Burlington Vermont downtown. It is all because of the enabling behavior of your elected officials. There are already city laws against being in the parks after dark, etc and the city fails to enforce them. It took the feds one week to move the bums along and lock up the shitbums. The same could be done in Pittsfield and not another penny is required to do it. Just the will.

Letter: “Pittsfield city charter changes should go before voters”
The Berkshire Eagle, August 22, 2025

To the editor: Before I spoke at the last City Council meeting against the proposed amendment to the city charter making the mayor chair of the Pittsfield School Committee, Councilor Kenneth Warren made a comment to me that there was not much of a point in speaking against the proposal as it would be going to the voters. (“Longer terms for city councilors and School Committee members could be on the November ballot, pending state approval,” Eagle, Aug. 15.)

Undeterred, I still decided to speak out against it.

Later on during the meeting, I became confused and then appalled when Councilor Warren made an amendment so that this change would not go to the voters. Why the sudden shift between before I spoke during public comment and the discussion on the amendment?

In a now deleted Facebook comment thread, another city councilor stated that this amendment doesn’t need to go to the voters as he believes the council knows what is best for the city, and that this would address what the council sees as issues with working with the School Committee.

I strongly disagree with this sentiment. The voters of this city voted back in 2013 to adopt the current version of the charter, and they should be the ones who decide what parts get changed and which parts remain. This is the voter’s charter, not the City Council’s to play around with.

The law even agrees. The statute the council is using to make this amendment says: “Whenever an order proposing a charter amendment to the voters is approved by the mayor and city council … a copy of the proposed amendment shall be immediately submitted to the attorney general…” So then, why does the City Council believe it has a mandate, let alone the authority, to make changes to the city charter without voter approval?

While I believe this proposal is misguided and very problematic, if the voters want to make the mayor chair of the Pittsfield School Committee, then they can vote to support the amendment at the ballot box. Not letting the voters decide on such an important matter would be a disservice to the city’s voters.

The more I hear about the council’s rationale for not sending this amendment to the voters, the more I fear that this is a hostile power grab by city leaders to micromanage the school department budget and its operations, potentially leading to devastating budget cuts. This power grab can and should be stopped at the ballot box.

Correct conclusion: consolidation of power is bad. Observation that clowncilor lie alot and say things like, “we were elected because we know more and are smarter than the voters” is accurate. Sounds like warren – if his lips are moving, something’s up. Not good.

Argument and reasoning is demented. Garrity bases his conclusion on his belief that School Committee purpose is to spend as much money as possible in 9 months.

Just pure luck as we say to hit the mark but lacking ability. Kid gets a C-.

I think what he was saying, without actually saying it, was that if the special interests want the mayor to be the head of the school committee it will happen regardless of any councilor commentary or public vote. They always get their way one way or another. If they decide they want a mayoral term of 20 years it will happen. If they want the mayor to also be police chief it will happen.

Any suggestion that public opinion or a councilors input would change any special interest agenda is farcical and comical at the same time. And to substantiate this theory consider a city pushing full steam ahead on a mega million dollar entertainment venue (aka baseball stadium) during an economic meltdown where interest rates are very high, credit card debt is exploding, mortgage foreclosures are skyrocketing, food prices are ridiculous, electricity rates are at all time highs and predicted to continue to climb with no end in sight, building material costs through the roof, and they are already taxing their residents into poverty.

No sane overseer of a city government would do this unless it either had absolutely zero knowledge of how city finances work or was being controlled by outside forces it was terrified of to say no to.

Letter: “I still don’t like location for Pittsfield ice rink”
The Berkshire Eagle, August 23, 2025

To the editor: Months ago, I wrote to The Eagle imploring city leadership to rethink the location of the proposed ice rink and choose the iconic location of The Common over Clapp Park. (“Pittsfield’s Clapp Park ice rink project meets its $200K fundraising goal,” Eagle, Aug. 10.)

That didn’t happen.

We all know how a similar bad choice to put the Berkshire Carousel tucked away in a non-prominent location next to CVS went. The chosen location for the ice rink at Clapp Park won’t even be visible from West Housatonic Street: out of sight, out of mind.

And now there is the news that our next-door neighbors in Lenox are also putting in an outdoor winter ice rink. (“Here’s how this pickleball court in Lenox will become an ice skating rink by December,” Eagle, Aug. 19.)

It doesn’t seem that psychology comes into play when considering logistics. We could have something iconic with hundreds or perhaps thousands of daily north-south drivers passing the rink and planning a family visit in their mind: in sight, in mind. Add on a meal at a local downtown eatery and finish it off with a movie at the Beacon. (And by that logic, the long-term desired destination of Wahconah Park isn’t any better.)

Instead of Pittsfield perhaps offering people a downtown destination outing incorporating skating, I believe most folks coming from out of town will now just change the end point in their GPS to Lenox, as they so often do. And probably a lot of folks coming from Pittsfield will, too.

It’s still August with beautiful sunny days, no leaves turning yet, and no snow or freezing temperatures in the forecast. So it’s not too late to reverse course on this decision and figure out how to make it work.

I was wondering what happened with the Munn’s case in Pittsfield?

From Google AI Mode on Sunday, August 24, 2025

In Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Gary and Danielle Munn are business owners and community figures who have received significant local media attention.

Business and professional background

Witch Slapped: The couple founded and operates this business. According to a GoFundMe campaign, Danielle runs Witch Slapped, while Gary provided eight years of “flawless service” to the city.

Fundraiser for legal fees: The Munns co-organized a GoFundMe fundraiser to cover legal expenses. The campaign alleges that Pittsfield City Hall targeted their family and business in a “modern-day witch hunt” after Gary reported corruption, waste, and abuse of power.

Accusations of retaliation: The fundraiser claims that in retaliation for Gary’s reporting, he was fired from his job after a series of “bogus investigations” and slander. Following this, the city allegedly began targeting Danielle and Witch Slapped.

Speaking of a witch hunt. There was testimony of a local bar that they were allegedly observed over serving and a disturbance outside the bar where many police officers and cruisers were there but the owner wasn’t aware of either incidents.

The owner has video of inside the bar but didn’t bring it to the license board hearing. One of the police officers at the incident didn’t show up. The video police cam evidence wasn’t available either. The Bar owner is very smart. She’ll get another continuance during the heavy business season.

Please search: mass state officials use of credit cards in Massachusetts

on: news.google.com

Reports from the Boston Herald documented significant credit card state spending sprees of millions of dollars spent by Massachusetts state agencies on these credit cards in the last fiscal year, including instances of questionable spending at casinos.

State guidelines advise public agencies in Massachusetts to use publicly funded procurement cards only as a “payment of last resort”.

Poor fictional Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski family who dutifully pays their state and local taxes in Pittsfield, Massachusetts!

PITTSFIELD — Herberg Middle School’s new principal has been placed on administrative leave just days before the opening day of classes for undisclosed reasons.

But interim Superintendent Latifah Phillips is reassuring the Herberg community that there’s a team in place to make sure school opens smoothly on Thursday despite the absence of the principal, Ian T. Brown.

There must be someone who has the inside scoop on what really happened. The school will never let us know since there is no transparency in Pittsfield Public Schools.

Between this story, the houseless sleeping and shitting in the parks with the city’s blessing, and a new report by state auditor documenting massive food stamp fraud, etc, there is enough for us Kapanskis’ to snap a band!

No Medicare or Medicaid has been cut or veterans benefits. All lies from the far left. President Trump says continually that he will not and has not cut these programs. These programs were dying along with the rest of the country when the Biden administration and the autopen were in charge.

Time, history, and truth are not on your side, but you could care less because you suffer from TDS which requires you to deliberately ignore anything that disputes your “truth”.  Since you see no evidence your “truth” is wrong, then your“truth” must be right…

But, but, but….Mayor Peter Marchetti and Voltron CAN:

Spend over $62 million per fiscal year 2026 more than Westfield

Cut millionaire Nuciforo’s Berkshire Roots a city check for $341,000

Oversee Level 5 public schools

Cover-up the Pittsfield High School alleged scandals by spending $156,000 in city funds to an out of the area law firm for a report that was NOT released to the general public

Blame the Underclass for their own misguided leadership in Pittsfield City Hall

Pittsfield Public Schools once again is starting out with a BIG BANG. Of course once again they are hiding the truth from the taxpayers. Herberg Middle School newly hired Principal already given a leave of absence. Heard that Herberg is starting the school year out with a shortage of 8 teachers. Why? Was this the Principal’s job to do the hiring? Why wasn’t all the over paid Mercer school personnel not aware of this? Mayor Marchetti wants to be the head of the School Committee yet he was not aware of this latest Pittsfield School’s System “mishap”. Why is this just being announced 3 days before school starts? Once again taxpayers need truthful answers. Would love to know how much the enrollment in PPS’s has dropped this year, especially the high school age group. Yet we will never know, but the taxes will keep rising, won’t they Marchetti.

Are there any DEI success stories that can be verified and fact checked, to make sure it’s true and accurate?

One after the next, is either getting fired, criminally indicted, or both.

Da Dancin’ Dean, aka- Lady’z Man, Lavonte Wiggins, is Bitchfield’s shining example.

A black man with no formal education and an expired dancing certificate, got hired as a $100k a year PHS school administrator, simply for being a black man. No more, no less.

Did Pedofield Pubic Scohol’s very own DEI hire, Dancin’ Dean, make everyone proud by giving him his (literal) golden opportunity?

Nope, Da Dancin’ DEI Dean, got busted by the FBI selling large amounts of cocaine.

Letter: “A response to letter-writer’s concern on charter change proposal”
The Berkshire Eagle, August 26, 2025

To the editor: The Aug. 22 letter “Pittsfield city charter changes should go before voters” misrepresented both the process and the purpose of the proposed charter amendment.

This is not a power grab. It is about accountability. The mayor is already responsible for presenting and balancing the city’s overall budget, which includes the schools. Having the mayor serve as chair of the School Committee aligns that responsibility with clear leadership. Several Massachusetts cities already follow this structure.

The City Council is acting fully within its legal authority. Massachusetts law allows charter changes either through a commission process that goes to the ballot or through a council-approved petition sent to the Legislature. Both are legitimate. We are using the process the law provides.

Voters are not being cut out. Any charter change must go to the Legislature and then back to the city for acceptance. There are multiple levels of oversight built in.

What cannot be ignored is the past year. The Pittsfield High School investigation exposed a clear lack of accountability from the School Committee when serious problems surfaced. Parents, students and taxpayers expected openness. Instead, they saw delays, secrecy and excuses. The state itself ordered portions of the report released after ruling the district failed to justify withholding it. That is not what voters expect from their elected representatives.

This proposal to make the mayor the School Committee chair responds to those concerns. Transparency, collaboration and financial oversight have been missing. When the School Committee is not aligned with city government, it creates confusion and mistrust. Giving the mayor a defined role as chair creates accountability at the top, which benefits students, teachers and taxpayers.

The council is doing its job: debating policy, weighing options and making decisions in the best interest of the city.
