PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE THE WEEKEND EDITION JAN. 30-FEB. 1, 2026) — With a turn of the calendar page, we turn to the shortest month, another sign of the inevitable approach to spring. Saying that, THE PLANET loves that The Berkshires actually got winter this year, reminding us that the “snows of yesterday” can still occur today. Four seasons? Can’t beat it.

Ever wonder why the lesbian (Gov. Maura Healey), of-color (AG Andrea Campbell), and of-ugly (Senate president Karen Spilka) matriarchy that comprises the government in the Bay State provides so much more in money and benefits for criminals than hard-working taxpayers?

Yeah, thought so. We do, too.

One obvious reason is that the recipients of taxpayer giveaways form a controlled voting block. One overlooked reason has to be the still-smoldering remains of good, honest 1960s liberalism. In the 1960s, folks–young people, especially–caught on to the scam that is government on all levels. Peace and love were not slogans but attributes.

The Vietnam War peeled the institutional onion down do its redolent core. Cassius Clay, now Muhammed Ali, refused to be inducted, and we supported him. These genuine objectors weren’t motivated by outside agitators but by an individualized self-realization of the need to “rattle the windows and shake down the walls, for the times they were a-changing.”

———- ooo ———-

Back then, protesters came together sans social media, AI, and organized agitators. They weren’t paid. They freely gathered in virtuous UNcertainty, their doubt fueling a search for answers.

Today’s “protesters,” in contrast, consist of aging Baby Boomers who have failed to adjust their views to match reality plus an ignorant herd of clueless young people so easily manipulated by outside forces that do their thinking for them. This unlettered mob lacks the moral maturity of those who realize that a nation–indeed, nationhood itself–depends on secure borders and stringent litmus tests for citizenship.

Such idealists and sugary optimists are shallow thinkers who operate on their illusions. A true visionary and the grounded brand of optimist ponders more the underlying forces that motivate surface actions and operate on what IS rather than what they wish it to be. The first paints by numbers. The second makes art … the art of life.

———- ooo ———-

The lack of moral maturity among the disrupters masquerading as “protesters” can be seen in their rush to canonize the deservedly late Alex Pretti.  A week and a half before he met the death he invited, Pretti spit on federal agents, attacked and damaged one of their SUVs, and taunted “Assault me, motherfuckers.”

Apologists are still quick to mention the fact that Pretti was an IC nurse, but THE PLANET deigns to point out the non sequitur. IC nurse? So what? In fact, we will give 60 cents to anyone who can show how that is relevant here. Those IC patients are better off without this knucklehead. Good riddance.

ICE issues detainers only after officials establish probable cause that a “non-citizen” has been convicted of a crime or has been engaged in committing “one or more crimes.” They must also determine that the person represents “a public safety and/or national security threat.”

Reason for action, yeah? Action that Pretti tried to stop.

———- ooo ———-

Recall also how Autopen and Kackles allowed millions of unvetted illegals to pour into the United States, many of them the worst of the worst from their home countries.

For those seeking a better life for themselves, America has a process and procedure for admittance to the country, one that provides the path to citizenship. This welcoming of immigrants literally built this country. These people, which included THE PLANET‘s grandparents on both sides, came here, worked feverishly, put down roots, learned English, expected and received no welfare, and set themselves up to succeed and, indeed, prosper. Such a path to success is still open to any person on earth.

It’s the illegals that flock for the freebies (Gov. Healey has given away $3 billion in taxpayer money to those who don’t deserve it) who have drained the public treasury and contributed nothing but chaos in return. They have harmed every citizen.

You can do much better, Minnesota. You can do much better, Massachusetts.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Governor Maura Healey’s biggest political problem is the do-nothing leaders in the Massachusetts State Legislature. She takes all of the blame for all of the problems in Massachusetts because the state legislators in Boston are unproductive.

The working families in the 1930’s had more money to buy a home 90 years ago during The Great Depression than in today’s mid-2020’s era of great wealth and net income inequality. To write that Governor Maura Healey’s spending on immigrants is the main cause of the spike in evictions, delinquent mortgages, homeless residents, and so on, omits that the common families can no longer afford a roof over their heads.

The other piece of the problem in Massachusetts politics is that it is a one political (Democratic) Party state, but there are many political people who say that they are Democrats to be in the favor of the career politicians, while they are really conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, and the like.

The “Big 3” lifelines for a strong middle-class are: HOUSING, Healthcare, and public education. Many common families cannot afford to own a home anymore. Rising healthcare insurance costs are a financial hardship on middle-class households. Public education funding and quality depends on one’s zip code. Many families cannot afford to live in the wealthy zip codes with well-performing public schools.

None of the above is anything new. Governor Maura Healey is facing Trump’s severe cuts in federal funding to Massachusetts, the do-nothing state lawmakers, the high cost of housing, the crisis in healthcare insurance costs, and the Have’s versus the Have-Not’s zip codes impacts on public education in Massachusetts.

I am NOT writing that Governor Maura Healey is right or wrong on immigration. What I am writing is that Governor Maura Healey is facing “A Perfect Storm” in 2026. It is going to be difficult year ahead for her to lead in Massachusetts..

Best wishes,

Jon Melle

Massachusetts Residents, who have had their HEAP/heating/utility assistance slashed by the D-Healey cabal infesting Beacon Hill, should remember this is in large part because the Leftist/Liberals hegemony.

These crooks instead funded CRIMINAL ALIENS to the tune of ONE BILLION dollars.

This insanity continues on unabated.

Remember this at the ballot box, EVERY November.

Speaking of The Great Depression :
My family and relatives would tell us stories about the Great Depression of people voting for the people that put them on bread lines because they promised more bread. Same thing going on now with those voting for the same people. Now you get much more than a loaf of bread, like assistance that includes, housing, food, medical aid, education, a cell phone and internet service. No comparison to what they went through in
the depression.

I’ve asked you before and I’ll ask you again, were you dropped on your head a dozen or so times growing up?

You “don’t blame Governor Maura Healey….,” but subsequently go on to blame MA’s one-party (democRAT) rule and (of course) President Trump, as being the reasons, she and MA taxpayers are feeling the financial difficulty of all the reasons you listed above.

Remind The Planet who the Governor of MA is again?

She has zero blame, according to you. It’s everyone else’s fault. Just like my little kids used to do. “Not my fault dad I stole the candy bar. He dared me to.” Oh ok, well that makes it acceptable than.

I noticed you also failed to mention President Trump getting overwhelming elected to clean up the illegal alien fraud/mess left behind by the Autopen and Harris Administration.

How come? Why the lack of mention.

With millions of illegal aliens pouring into the country and NO WHERE TO HOUSE THEM, guess who created the “housing shortage” you mentioned above? Reread the last paragraph. The answers there.

I just want to toss this out there JM for your eyeball’s entertainment:

Gov Healey: Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state!

Also Gov Healey:

– signed a funding bill to provide up to $426 million to house illegals
– asked residents to house illegals in their homes
– removed bus services for students and diverted the funds toward transporting illegals instead
– turned the airport into a migrant encampment
– turned luxury buildings into migrant shelters
– Oversaw Boston DENYING 100% of ICE detainer requests

Libs of TikTok on X: “Gov Healey: Massachusetts is not a sanctuary state! Also Gov Healey: – signed a funding bill to provide up to $426 million to house illegals – asked residents to house illegals in their homes – removed bus services for students and diverted the funds toward transporting https://t.co/oxlulTEjuT” / X

I’ll await your response.

Long vacant “blighted” property assessed at $120k sells for $15k. Shows the scale of property tax fraud and parasitism that is a blight on everyone’s life.

I was able to locate the video of Meanwhile, Jonathan Melle, Vendetta ChatGPT, and TSC’s hero, Lyin’ Lizzie “Pocahontas” Warren, eulogizing their hero, Alex Pretti, for his “heroic actions” against federal agents.

In the video, Alex is shown having a little harmless fun, spitting on federal police officers, yelling obscenities at them, and just criminally damaging the police vehicle, by kicking out the vehicle’s taillight.

He’s just “peacefully protesting,” isn’t that correct, left-loons?

I’m curious if anyone of you democRATS can explain to The Planet, why you are against President Trump deporting illegal aliens?

Your Supreme Leader, Xi Jinping, does much worse to illegal aliens and criminals than President Trump and ICE do. What gives?

Quoting Nathaniel Philbrick – VAliant Ambitions:

Democratic Republics are incredibly fragile. The emphasis on personal liberty can makes dissent extremely dangerous for the stability of the republic.

“For the American Experiment to work, a way must be found to balance political freedom with the need for political stability. But, to get to that point, the war of Independence must first be won.”

We know today that powerful foreign enemies – Russia and now China – have since the end of WWII been working hard to terminate the American War of Independence. To keep it, we need to reestablish that balance.

I agree. What has Gov. Healey done for Massachusetts residents? All she has cared about is illegal immigrants by making this a sanctuary state and protecting criminal illegal immigrants from arrest. $3 billion dollars would go a long way toward helping citizens of this state with housing and energy costs.

Its the only real example of white privilege I’ve seen since they started talking about white privilege. White liberals believe they can attack and interfere in federal law enforcement. Then they are surprised when they are arrested, slammed to the ground, pepper sprayed , shot to death. It’s nuts!

A parent was alarmed because the Taconic speaker (from Turning Point) was handing out “propaganda” such as U.S. Constitutions – how shocking! LOL
This is how brainwashed the libs are in MA! Shame on the principal for cancelling the rep from Turning Point! Shame on the parent who complained about a conservative speaker!

Yet another PPS scandal as a conservative speaker was escorted out of Taconic over Kirk wristbands.
Bishop should have been long gone over the previous issues at the schools (in his role as Asst. Supt.). Now apparently there is to be no freedom of speech (as far as conservative speakers are concerned ) at Taconic. Yet students are allowed to be dismissed to participate in liberal political demonstrations. Hypocrisy!

It’s unbelievable what these schools are doing. A Taconic High School parent said it was so disgusting that Charlie Kirk material was handed out to the students. The politicians and far left parents know they need to keep tight control over what these students are exposed to so the brainwashing isn’t broken. God forbid they are exposed to other points of view. These parents were silent when kids were being sexually abused in the schools, silent when kids were being told they were trapped in the wrong body and operated on and given drugs to change their gender, and silent when they are being brainwashed to participate in liberal causes like protecting criminals and given the permission of the schools to take time off to attend these often violent events. Yet it’s Charlie Kirk materials that set them off?!?

I am able to read only the headlines on the Berkshire Eagle’s web-page. I see that Pittsfield readers are hearing about the upcoming Wahconah Park project/boondoggle, the homeless residents in need of targeted assistance, Mayor Peter Marchetti’s controversial comments on ICE Agents, the would-be heavily redacted, taxpayer-funded, 6-figure school report on alleged wrongdoings at PHS that may be released in 2026 after being held in private in 2025, Governor Maura Healey’s executive orders to limit ICE Agents actions in Massachusetts in 2026, along with her fiscal year 2027 proposed state budget, and the severe cuts in state administered, federal aid funds by the Trump administration.

From what I understand, state and local governments alike are in the process of proposing their annual budgets in the dark because they are going to lose billions of dollars in federal funding. Massachusetts already under-funds state aid to local governments. Any around average increases in state aid that State Senator Paul Mark, and State Representatives John Barrett III, Tricia Farley-Bouvier, and Leigh Davis, and Governor Maura Healey vote for and sign into state law later this year 2026 will really be funding cuts to local government in the beautiful Berkshires (where I, Jon Melle, am from).

In closing, it is like a pecking order. Trump cut federal taxes for the billionaires. Governor Maura Healey proposed a new state budget that is said to be without needed financial data due to the BIG cuts in federal aid that are distributed by the state government in Boston. The Berkshire’s local governments still are not receiving fully funded state aid to operate their municipalities, public school districts, and the the like.

We also live in a time that too many people do not understand how our government as a REPUBLIC supposed to work. They really believe that it is part of their rights to be taken care of by the government.
You can chalk this up to the dumbing down of education to control the masses….

“Governor Maura Healey’s executive orders to limit ICE Agents actions in Massachusetts in 2026, along with her fiscal year 2027 proposed state budget, and the severe cuts in state administered, federal aid funds by the Trump administration.” -JM

POTUS Trump is cutting US Taxpayer paid Federal aid to mASSachusetts, as D-Healey has illegally given over 1 BILLION of those funds to CRIMINAL ALIENS.

Further the Healey Beacon Hill Junta, refuses to disclose how any/all Federal funds were distributed and stolen.

“From what I understand, state and local governments alike are in the process of proposing their annual budgets in the dark because they are going to lose billions of dollars in federal funding.” -JM

Federal funds are being cut off to CRIMINAL ALIENS, nationwide.

“Massachusetts already under-funds state aid to local governments. Any around average increases in state aid that State Senator Paul Mark, and State Representatives John Barrett III, Tricia Farley-Bouvier, and Leigh Davis, and Governor Maura Healey vote for and sign into state law later this year 2026 will really be funding cuts to local government in the beautiful Berkshires (where I, Jon Melle, am from).” -JM

^^^^^Those D-crooks squander State Taxpayer funds too.

POTUS Trump is cutting off fraud by States that illegally siphon Federal aid to dubious entities.

In MN over 18 BILLION discovered, so far. D-MN elected and appointed officials appear to be aware and aiding and abetting this thievery. Much of this crime committed by “migrants” Obama imported from Somalia.

This seems to be business as usual in Democrat run States, as similar fraud has been discovered in OH and CA.

Woe to mASSachusetts, when the Federal investigations start examining the State bookkeeping here. D-Healey has refused to disclose what black holes she has let Federal funds, intended for mASSachustts CITIZENS, disappear into.

We know OVER 1 BILLION has been squandered on CRIMINAL ALIENS, by D-Gov Healey and her accomplices. Healey went as far as to kick out homeless Veterans from shelters, to house the invaders.

NOthing special about West MA – states are run by the cities, and the further from the center of gravity of those cities, the less matter aggregates. Laws, policies, taxes are written strictly by representatives that are largely representing urbans, and the rural ones are pandering to them.Healey screws everyone one really, but she is in the service of the mafia that is based in Boston.

Hello Governor Maura Healey,

I respect you as a professional, but on the blog PlanetValenti.com, someone wrote:

My reply: I lived more of my life in the Berkshires, Western Massachusetts, than in Southern New Hampshire. I am a permanent and total, 100-percent service-connected disabled Veteran. Even when I lived in NH, people who I and my family knows who live in the Berkshires assisted me with my VA benefits that I receive today in Amherst, NH. I am sure that if I needed assistance from Massachusetts, your Governor’s Office would be happy to assist me to be O.K. in NH. I only live around a 20 minutes drive from the Massachusetts border. I live a 1-hour drive to Boston, which is closer to Boston than when I lived in Berkshire County many years ago now.

I love Massachusetts. People in Massachusetts have been advocating for me over the over 2 decades that I have resided in NH. I read your op-ed in the Boston Globe advocating for homeless Veterans. I saw that you signed in to state law the HERO Act that provides assistance to Veterans. I saw that you brought needed reforms to the Veterans Homes in Holyoke and Chelsea. I do NOT believe that you would throw me or any other Veteran out on the streets in favor of illegal immigrants/criminal aliens. I believe that you would help me and other Veterans because your leadership on Veterans matter has been great; thank you.

Best wishes,

D-Healey did indeed evict homeless Veterans into the cold to house her new D-voting bloc; CRIMINAL ALIENS!!!

https://www.newsweek.com/massachusetts-migrants-shelters-veterans-amendment-1895141

“All but two Massachusetts House Democrats voted against an amendment to provide statewide shelter priority to U.S. military veterans over migrants.
On Friday, all 25 Massachusetts state House Republicans were joined by two others across the aisle in voting for Amendment 698 as part of House Bill 4600. The amendment introduced by Republican Minority Leader Bradley Jones, titled “Homeless Veterans Prioritization for Shelter Assistance,” failed on a 27-129 roll call vote.

“It’s extremely disappointing that most Democrats were unwilling to support an amendment to prioritize eligibility for the state’s emergency housing assistance program for honorably discharged homeless veterans,” Jones told Newsweek via email on Monday.
