HINDS HIDING FROM OPPONENTS AND PRESS (read: ‘PLANET’) … WHAT’S HE SCARED OF?

BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION, AUG. 26-28, 2016) — The Committe to Elect Adam Hinds, conductor of Hinds on the Roof, the vertigonous fund raiser for The Chosen One for state senate, Democrat Adam Hinds, wants to ride out the illegality of a promotion on the city’s official web page for the event. THE PLANET predicts it will succeed, right through the primary election on Sept. 8 — held on a Thursday because of Labor Day.

Hinds will follow the classic Machine formula to local political “success”:

1. Sniff the Machine Bosses

2. Agree not to have a will of your own

3. Check self-respect at the door

4. Avoid THE PLANET

5. Count on the lazy and incompetent Mainstream Media to publish your press releases and sound bites with no followup, and

6. Rely on apathy to do the rest.

Turnout will be appallingly low, the Machine will get out the Special Interest vote — primarily from those connected with the Pittsfield School Department – and Hinds will defeat attorneys Andrea Harrington of Great Barrington and Rinaldo Del Gallo III. He will then turn to the general phase, where he will face Republican Chris Canning in November.

Harrington will disappear until the Bosses reward her for splitting the party vote. For those not familiar with this tactic, see “Sweet” Pete White doing the same for Pittsfield state rep. Tricia Farley Bouvier several years ago. The Bosses rewarded the indiscernible White, whose presence does not trigger automatic doors in supermarkets, with an at-large city council position. White thinks this is “the big time.”

Harrington and Hinds didn’t not appear on PLANET VALENTI TELEVISION last night for a live discussion of issues with Yours Truly and Supercitizen Terry Kinnas. The Committee to Elect Adam Hinds, not Hinds, told us The Chosen One’s “schedule is already booked. As you can imagine, with the primary two weeks away, scheduling is extremely difficult.” Committee, we don’t have to use our imagination.

Here’s the e-mail we sent to Hinds on Aug. 24:

——– 000 ——–

COMMITTEE
(1) In your first e-mail, you said the campaign would investigate and then let me know what it found out. A simple inquiry at city hall would provide more information if not answers. If the campaign didn’t see that the posting got on the city’s official website, which you claim, then it had to come from city hall. You need to ask the mayor and especially the person who maintains the website. I could easily do this, but I am busy, too, probably busier than Adam if truth be told. If I do it, moreover, I will uncover the information. The would implicitly suggest a cover-up. You can see where that would lead, and it likely would put the worst possible light on it for the campaign. It would be much better for you guys to get the answers.

(2) Please do pass along anything else you learn about this. I’m sure the campaign agrees this is no light matter. It’s a violation of the law as egregious as if someone walked into city hall and set up a fund-raiser right there, outside the mayor’s office.

(3) Can you please share where Adam will be tomorrow? I would like specifics, only because someone from your campaign told me today Adam is ducking me. I put no weight into this, but I do want to give the campaign the benefit of the doubt. I can do that by being able to share where he was at the time of taping. Give me verse and chapter, and I will share that with my readers and viewers.

(4) Speaking of which. We tape at 4 p.m., not 4:30 as I originally stated. The TV station moved us up on request. That may allow Adam to be there.

(5) I generally do not conduct business with a “Committee to Elect” anybody. Please give me a person, a human being with a name, who is writing these missives to me. It may sound trivial, but I assure you it’s not. And would it spoil some vast, eternal plan for Adam, himself, to contact me?

(6) I’m not a monster, I don’t steal candy from babies, and I don’t knock out canes from old ladies when they are crossing North Street (except if they have a Hillary sticker on their cane). If Adam wishes to have a coffee with me, before or after the primary, informal and off the record, I’m willing.
Thanks,
DAN

The campaign didn’t respond. These days, when the phone doesn’t ring, I know it’s Chrome Dome not getting back to us.

With that, we open The Comment Line with our usual exhortation: Be witty not witless. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Political hacks are what Boston and the local bosses want in this area. They can easily control them. The schools are of course in on the DEAL. Keep the big salary increases coming to the school employees and we will vote your hacks in every time and this is exactly what happens here in the PITTS. It’s a sick dysfunctional system that really only benefits the special interests like the school employees and does nothing for the rest of us. Just like the schools have McCandless as their “yes” man, they make sure the politicians are also friendly to their money grabbing. By having everyone that “matters” in their corner, they can easily keep taking taxpayer money.

Heard that contractor won’t file claim for the boost in premiums but will bury replacement cost and then some in his bill to us the taxpayers. Thank you Ms Yon. Thank you Jive. Thank you mayor.

4 out of 5 days on Hinds?

I get it. It was a bad thing.

I doubt hinds has access to the city’s website. I doubt he did this. The real question is who did.

I’m voting for Harrington, but Hinds still wins. He has run a better campaign, like it or not. The guy is everywhere. He quit his job to run. He is hungry, the others are not.

Dan, I think the reason that folks avoid appearing on your show is that they are not comfortable in an unscripted environment they do not control.

It is often said that nothing clarifies your knowledge of a subject like needing to train or teach someone else. That analogy applies here, because taking off the cuff inquiries, responding to a field disinclined to support you, or just being in a situation you don’t control shows your true grasp of the issues and the depth of your position,

I don’t always agree with Smitty or Ben Downing – but neither ever shied away from engaging with me to hear my rationale on an issue.

Willingness to head into the Lion’s Den is the mark of a true believer. If he cannot articulate to PV readers and viewers his positions and try to at least explain his views – you know they are canned and the limit of his beliefs is wrapped up in the press releases and sound bites he issues.

At 40 years old, lets figure he’s had 8 jobs. He has left each job not only before he accomplished anything – but before he even learned the job. What makes anyone on this blog believe he even understands the issues he campaigns on?

Do you think Tricia understands the issues? Or cares about the issues? These people are hand selected and are told not to worry their pretty little heads about “issues” and “voting” because they will be given cue cards telling them what to vote for and what to say if anyone asks them a question. Easy peasy puppet people as they are referred to in inner circles.

I disagree with Dan Valenti that Andrea Harrington is running for Berkshire State Senator to split the 3 way primary vote in favor of Adam Hinds so she will receive a political plum sinecure as her reward. Dan Valenti has written not one positive thing about Andrea Harrington!
Andrea Harrington is a Pittsfield area native who went to Pittsfield public schools, to college, to law school, who has professional experience in small business and practicing law. She is married with children. She is invested in the community. She has a lot of great qualities!

What about all of the other political hacks who traded elected political office for a sinecure?
* Luciforo stepped down as Berkshire State Senator to anoint himself as Pittsfield Registrar of Deeds for 6 years while he plotted a failed run for U.S. Congress
* Speranzo stepped down from Pittsfield State Representative to be anointed Pittsfield Clerk of Courts for the rest of his “working” life
* Larkin also stepped down from Pittsfield State Representative to be anointed as a GE Lobbyist

Andrea Harrington hasn’t accepted any sinecures! All she has done is work hard and set the example of being a small business owner and an Attorney at Law.

Reply to Jonathan Melle—Andrea Harrington is a Pittsfield area native? She lives in Great Barrington now, so far for love of Pittsfield! And if she went to Public school and college and law school–so what? Hundreds of people did–so what? Of course, on the village level that’s great accomplishment–I see.
I checked her web site–dozen endorsements from construction companies–plasterers, masons, plumbers, roofers–which she has never ever seen, never spoke to–all fake, done by her husband, connected to them. Yes. she is a nice person–my sister is aslo nice–let’s vote for her!

Last Night’s Discover Tyler Street fair was a reminder of how a group of motivated merchants who truly work together for the collective good without government interference can thrive, while highlighting why Downtown Pittsfield will never thrive under the political strong arm of Downtown Pittsfield Inc. Ask any downtown merchant or building owner, especially those who were independent enough to reject membership and they will describe how the quasi government agency demands say on everything from choice of tenants to operating hours and even what window displays should look like, while demanding that only IT knows what’s best for downtown.(see downtown master plan). Under that environment, ingenuity, creativity and true entrepreneurial spirit is lost for the sake of going along to get along. And look at what great success it has brought downtown after those worshiped economic engines were built with taxpayer funded dollars- A place to be avoided at all cost with only a handful of government workers and the urchins that Dan loves so well providing foot traffic during non theater hours. How many doors will have to close downtown before our deaf, dumb and blind city leaders realize that the failed business model just does not work?

I read that little blurb in the Eagle about tools being stolen from the Taconic job site. Between that and the unforeseen ledge and pcbs and paranoia on the job site the whole mess seems to be cursed. Has somebody pissed off the Gods by pushing through a project that should never have even been on the drawing board?

and speaking of expensive projects that were never necessary in the first place, did Mr McCandless release accurate figures on how many Pittsfield students are now opting out of the Pittsfield public school system? And how many are new this year? Did I miss the article? Thank you ahead of time for any help on this concern of mine.

New topic: I like to think of myself as being a benevolent person, but the story in today’s Eagle got to me.

The story about Youth Works (a state funded program) for those children 14 to 21 from low income families showed two gals who came to Pittsfield this past year….one from Jamaica and the other from Colombia.

100 youths applied and it appears 35 were chosen.

My question: Doesn’t charity begin at home? Why were two foreigners (non citizens) picked over our own low income youths?

This city is full of political hacks who don’t give a damn about the progression of this city but rather the progression of their political careers. The city council is full of morons. John Krol and Pete White follow around our degenerate mayor like puppy dogs. I think Krol and White take turns wiping her bottom. I mean why else would city council members support another big box store idea(Walmart)? Yeah good idea Pete and Linda bring in more minimum wage jobs so we can keep shelling out more and more taxes every month to help these people who can’t live or support their family off 10 dollars an hour. Is Walmart promising our mayor something we don’t know about? And our city councilors? Is Linda’s mayoral salary enough to pay for that mansion she moved into with the wonderful Barry Clairmont? Does Barry even have a job? (Other than walking into city hall like he owns the place and annoying the hell out of people) Corrupt as hell. This city continues to shoot itself in the foot by electing idiots and failed leaders. Younger generations will continue to move out of this crippled city and you can thank our failed leadership for that.

Another change of subject. In the Friday Eagle a woman wrote a scathing editorial bashing the turf field at BCC. She stated health issues and possible law suites down the road. What she did not mention was that she lived on west street less than 1 mile from the field. Also she did not mention that the committee for the field went with s alternative product for the field. At a significant increase to the project , they went with a Nike field that uses recycled sneakers instead of toxic tires. I wish the folks living next to the field would have the balls to say they don’t want it by there homes.

female smoking a cigarette on the curb. A couple, was walking hand in hand on the left across from the Car Wash,
nothing unusual, other than his faragots were down to his ankles. Up and over the Hill was the ever popular Pizza Parlor with about three or four people getting dinner, I was one of them. The food was delicious, also a little further down before turning around PCb alley was the Barber Shop, which was closed but the pole in front was turning. I might add, mag ident views adorn the site across from P E D A headquarters.

Anyway, they couldn’t figure that maybe sometimes gunshots and fireworks could both be happening. The police did say that they caught the culprits and fluffed it of as stopped, that’s it. How about disturbing the piece for one, illegal fireworks two, and I don’t think that that sound was a legal firecracker in most states, let alone this city.
