QUILTING 101: FOR THE CHILDREN … GAETANI A FORCE FOR GOOD … MELANIA COATED … THE EMBARRASSMENT CALLED ‘DONNA TIDD ROVERS’

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY JUNE 25, 2018) — Finding patches of scribbles in THE PLANET‘s notebook, we look to make another quilt.

Hasta La Vista, Baby! — President Trump did the right thing by doing what he first said he could not do when he signed an executive order to prevent children being separated from their parents when trying to illegally enter the country. We congratulate the President and all those who protested for such an action. That being said, we must say that under a 1997 directive (Bill Clinton) and a 2008 White House order (Barack Obama), the Justice Department only followed the “Zero Tolerance” directive installed by Democrats. Actually, the policy finds justification in the absolute necessity to protect this nation’s borders as much as humanly possible. America has always welcomed immigrants. We still do. That’s why we have a process that allows people’s from other countries to obtain citizenship. Follow the law, become productive, and America welcomes you with opened arms. Sneak in illegally, often for nefarious purposes, however, and we should bust you. M-13, anyone? And we ask, what is more “inhumane?” A country following its laws to protect its citizens, or criminals sneaking in illegally, using children as human shields? THE PLANET asks what kind of parent breaks the law in this manner and drags the children into such a nightmare?

A Place for a Pest — Craig Gaetani has all the subtlety of a mechanical tunnel-machine boring holes in mountains. That bothers some but not THE PLANET. Democracy needs citizens like that to help keep public officials in place and to act as safeguards of public institutions. Gaetani goes where few citizens dare in a town that loves to punish those who “get out of line.” Typically, in a city where there’s up-and-up, that job falls to the independent aggressions of a free press. In Pittsfield, there is no free press or investigative journalism beyond this website. For that, citizens need a trumpeting local daily holding officials’ “feets to da fire.” We don’t have that. We have The Boring Broadsheet, a rag so compromised that it doesn’t care for its reputation or even seem to know that it is a newspaper protected by the First Amendment. Gaetani’s appearances at public meetings itch the heck out of the politicians (both in and of office), giving them rashes beyond the tending of Absorbine Jr. Bravo, we say, because isn’t that the point?

I Don’t Care. Do U? — When FLOTUS Melania Trump wore a coat with that message, social media lit up as “lit” as one of Lach’s “clientele” staggering out at closing time. People divined for the deep and hidden meanings for the mysterious phrase. Trump haters took it one way. Trump supporters took it the other. THE PLANET actually thought the jacket was the coolest thing a first lady had done since Jackie Kennedy got up on any morning from January 1960 to Nov. 22, 1963 or Betty Ford swigged down a liter of Popov vodka. Melania rocked the coat, which had shabby-sheik written all over it. When you’re Melania or Giselle, anything you wear becomes a Statement. What are the odds that similar jackets become as hot as French fries in a boardwalk greaser.

Old Woman Rover$, She Just Keeps Rolling — We still can’t figure how Donna Tidd Rover$ musters the courage — wait, it can’t be courage in a pol so easily bought. … musters the nerve to assume any kid of public stance, make any kind of public appearance, or dare to take her seat on the city council after news broke of her shameless sell-out. In April, The Suits set her up with a no-work “job” at nearly $100,000 a year (counting bennies) in what had to be the purchase of her vote on the sewer upgrade. There’s no other explanation that makes as much sense. This move will cost over-taxed citizens in debt-ridden Pittsfield an additional $80 million, and that doesn’t include the financing of the new debt. Peter Marchetti, Adam Hinds, and Matt Kerwood have their fingerprints all over the murder weapon. Linda Tyer has the perfect alibi. She’s not mayor. She’s a cheerleader.

And with that, our good friends, have a great one, whatever “one” may be. Back on Wednesday.

Kudos to The watermelon, er the Water Man for asking difficult questions of Pittsfield public figures… Questions to which they continuously cannot furnish cogent answers for.

However, let’s be clear that the Damp Dolomite’s efforts are not to benefit the Kapinsky family, nay, the Sprinkling Shuffler seeks self aggrandizement. This need for public adulation alters his legacy from a benevolent Don Quixote to a narcissistic Baron Munchhausen projecting maladies where none exist for needless and often fruitless heroics.

Plus he threatened a city employee.

Not sure why a 40 hour week is needed for the Donna Todd Rivers job as there are no jobs in the area except for those in this mysterious hidden jobs network which is ironically where Ms. Rivers got this Jobs Czar position after, of course, voting in favor of the sewer upgrade. Far too many in Pittsfield who get jobs in the “It’s Who You Know” category have similar do nothing jobs.

Actually, maybe this isn’t a 40 hour week job at all. Perhaps Ms. Rivers gets that 75K job plus benefits for far less than 40 hours.

What really scares me right now though is this latest insanity in which people are being banned (Sarah Huckabee) from restaurants based on their political affiliation. The Boston Globe ran a very frightening story this morning in which they said many restaurants are now reconsidering their policy of being welcoming to all customers after one restaurant this weekend refused service to Sarah Huckabee. The article made it sound like more restaurants may be considering banning people based on their political affiliation.

This is how it started in Nazi Germany. A group of people who the government and the media began to say were inferior and all kinds of hate was stirred up against them. At first they were banned from restaurants and theaters and public life in general until they were made complete outcasts and we all know that it led to murder on a large scale.

“In 1933, new German laws forced Jews out of their civil service jobs, university and law court positions, and other areas of public life. In April 1933, laws proclaimed at Nuremberg made Jews second-class citizens. These Nuremberg Laws defined Jews, not by their religion or by how they wanted to identify themselves, but by the religious affiliation of their grandparents. Between 1937 and 1939, new anti-Jewish regulations segregated Jews further and made daily life very difficult for them. Jews could not attend public schools; go to theaters, cinema, or vacation resorts; or reside or even walk in certain sections of German cities.”

We do not want to go down this road of hatred because we all know how it will end.

So Pat did you see the loop of all the nasty things and threats Trump has made? Makes the Huckabee thing look like a friendly game of bridge. People on both sides have gotten nasty but it did not start until Trump made it look like the thing to do. He got on national TV for a year and sneered and threatened and made fun of people and gave derogatory nicknames. So now everybody wants to be nasty like their president because he has made it cool.

The baker did not refuse them service. He said he would make the cake just not decorate it. He also said they would be welcome in his bakery anytime.

Mr. More, it seems that the Supreme Court said that the baker didn’t have to create a cake using his artistic skills that specifically was for a gay wedding since that involved putting a message on the cake, but the bakery never refused to serve anybody in their business based on their sexual orientation. It seems that would mean polling everybody who entered the bakery to find out their sexual orientation.

This restaurant issue is completely different as it means banning outright from the establishment. Right now it is only high profile individuals being banned, but small towns where everybody knows each other could easily start banning people due to their political affiliation without having to ask. If these restaurants were to get bolder, they could ask people their political affiliation before allowing them in their establishment.

More nonsense from the Boston Globe, this time regarding pot.

“When Bernadette Coughlin stumbled and fell in the kitchen at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen last month, she thought the only real damage was to her pride.

“I was embarrassed,” said Coughlin, 55. “Have you ever been walking and your foot just gets stuck and you stumble? I didn’t recover, and I went down.”

But that clumsy stumble toward the end of her shift cost her a lot more: two broken bones and, eventually, her job. Sodexo, the company that provides food service at Holy Family, fired Coughlin after she reported the injury several days later and the company gave her a drug test. It came back positive for marijuana — the result, she said, of occasional recreational use that had nothing at all to do with her injury.”

I don’t agree with this at all. If she had pot in her bloodstream while at work then she is still under the effects of that substance. Is the Boston Globe condoning people showing up at work under the influence of pot? What if she blames the company for her injury? Workers on pot might be more likely to fall especially older workers. The Boston Globe is heavily pushing pot usage. Last weekend they had an article entitled, “Five things to do this Weekend that are Pot Related”.

If you want to set that standard then fine…Let us consider every employee who is taking anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication to also be considered under the influence and deny those claims as well. In recent years, I have been amazed at how many people in the work place are on anti-anxiety medication (the majority, not minority) We have truly become a chemically dependent society (“I want my Soma”) thanks to the pharmaceutical industry and complicit doctors and lawmakers. If you want to argue that those are prescribed medications, what about those prescribed marijuana? The Supreme Court has already ruled that it is indeed the same. Consider it one of the many double standards that has left our nation, the laughing stock of every other enlightened society in the world.
One more point: The THC marker of marijuana remains in the blood stream for 2 weeks after ingestion. If alcohol traces remained in the blood stream half that time, how many people would be considered dunk at work? I’m guessing about 90 percent.

Pat

That doesn’t change that with pot becoming so prevalent more workers will be showing up to work under the influence of pot and some jobs they may be able to do just find while others not so much. Pot is just one more thing that can be abused and society is encouraging people, as with the Boston Globe, to indulge to their hearts content. I have to wonder why the Boston Globe and other liberal media is so pot encouraging.

Your point and concern is well taken Pat. But, I would also submit that while illegal, the access to pot has always been easier than buying alcohol or cigarettes and is just a phone call or text away. My point is that making pot legal will not make any more pot smokers show up to work stoned than who already do so. Like alcohol, medications or even caffeine…It’s always about personal responsibility.

Radical Muslims who are terrorists really don’t care if you like them or not. Unless you bow to their teachings and especially if you are Christian, you are the enemy. Please read the book “The Strange Death of Europe” written by a very intelligent gay British man, Douglas Murray, who also happens to be part of a think tank in Great Britain. The guy is brilliant and he explains very completely the dangers of Britain and other European countries taking in so many refugees from Syria and other dangerous areas who cannot be properly vetted, but also the long term consequences of that decision.

President Trump has made the right decision on this issue and most on the Supreme Court agree.
