!!POLICE SHOOT GLENWOOD AVE. MAN AFTER RUCKUS!! … MAYOR TYER: ‘INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES ARE DESPERATE FOR HELP’
BY DAN VALENTI
PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY
ADD 1 (noon) — Here’s the PPD’s release on the shooting on Glenwood Avenue:
On Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at approximately, 10:53 PM, the Pittsfield Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from a resident at 12 Glenwood Avenue reporting that her son was “destroying” her house. Multiple units were dispatched to that location.
Initial arriving officers found the reporting party outside of the residence, reporting that the suspect was still in the residence and armed with a bat and that if officers made entry, he would go after them. Shortly thereafter, the suspect stated to officers on scene that he was armed and would shoot them.
Additional units and resources were dispatched to the scene. Officers began to establish a perimeter, make a plan to evacuate the adjoining residence and attempt to contact the suspect by phone.
At approximately 11:33 PM, while officers were still establishing the perimeter, the suspect exited the front entrance of the house armed with a knife and a broken golf club. Officers gave the suspect multiple commands to stop. When the suspect continued to advance, Sergeant Jacob Barbour engaged the suspect with multiple less-lethal shotgun rounds, with no noticeable effect. When the suspect continued to advance on the officers, Sergeant John (JP) Murphy fired on him with his Department issued sidearm twice, striking him once.
Officers on-scene immediately rendered aid to the suspect. He was transported to Berkshire Medical Center and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect, subsequently identified as Kerry P. Robinson (52 years of age) of Pittsfield is under arrest on one charge of Armed Assault with Intent to Murder. Additional charges may be filed on the basis of the continuing investigation.
The Pittsfield Police Department requested that the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit take over the criminal investigation of this incident in the interest of transparency and a complete and thorough investigation. This investigation is in the preliminary stages and is on-going. The investigation is being conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department Detective Bureau, the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit, the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force, Massachusetts State Police Ballistics Section, and Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab. A separate use of force investigation will be conducted by a Pittsfield Police Department Force Investigation Team, per Department Policy.
Anyone who witnessed any or all of this incident is asked to contact the Pittsfield Police Detective Bureau at 413-448-9705 or the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit at 413-499-1112.

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY MAY 13, 2020) — When the phone rang, THE PLANET knew it was Mayor Tyer getting back to us.
On May 7, we sent the mayor the following e-mail:
I promise that my response to your questions regarding reopening will not include the words “vibrant” or “dynamic.”
Rather than answering each one of your questions, I believe it will be more helpful if I give you an overview of what I expect will happen with regard to re-opening. First, the reopening of Massachusetts, the Berkshires, and specifically Pittsfield, will require a very careful, phased-in approach. While Pittsfield has had at least three weeks of very promising data regarding the spread of COVID-19, people are still getting sick. For example, this past week, Pittsfield had a three-day period with no new cases. Then, suddenly on Saturday, May 9, Pittsfield had four new cases. This is an unprecedented public health crisis, and we are nowhere near a solution that will allow us to return to our habits and routines pre COVID-19. There is no validated treatment plan, no vaccine, and no wide-spread testing capability. The threat of this virus continues to be real, and I believe we will see a long period of public health restrictions and limitations.
Like almost everyone in Massachusetts, I am anxiously awaiting Governor Baker’s Reopening Advisory Board report. On May 18, I expect that we will see a comprehensive report on the methods for reopening Massachusetts. Pittsfield will certainly align with the recommendations contained in the statewide plan. There may be some unique regional factors but, overall, I expect to follow the Governor’s reopening plan. In the days following the May 18 release of the Governor’s report, I anticipate that I and the team that I have assembled will spend several days delving into the specifics of the recommendations. We will assess how the plan will be implemented here in the City of Pittsfield. I am hopeful that the recommendations for a phased-in re-opening will be based upon a very specific set of public health metrics developed by scientists and medical professionals.
Regarding Pittsfield’s Economic Relief and Recovery plan, we are still waiting for the federal government to release the $789,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds that are specifically targeted for COVID-19 economic recovery. We have already developed our plan, it has been passed by the City Council, and we continue to consult with the federal Housing and Urban Development agency to learn more about the specific requirements that they expect communities to follow, monitor, and be accountable for. Honestly, it’s disheartening that those funds still have not been released so that we can put these federal resources to work in our city. When we announced the economic relief and recovery package, we received nearly 100 inquiries from residents and businesses. Individuals and businesses are desperate for help. You asked specifically about Dottie’s. If Dottie’s applies for this funding source and they meet the eligibility requirements, it is possible that they will receive funding. You also asked about premier cultural organizations. While they represent a significant sector in the Berkshire economy, they, like every other sector of the economy, will have to comply with Governor Baker‘s state-wide plan for reopening.
———- ooo ———-
THE PLANET thanks the mayor for her response to this vital question. We welcome your analyses. What do you think? Be as thoughtful as you can.

Very little substance. You should have let the phone ring.
Did anyone hear about the Covid spike after the invasion of the spring breakers or those who voted in the Wisconsin primary?
She fed you a bland tasting bull shit sandwich. Hardly answered a single question.
I disagree Johnny. I think she gave a considered, well-reasoned response that answered just about all Dan’s questions. Caution, gradual, measured, science-based…all based on sound logic. If you are asking about or worrying that she didnt address nuts and bolts specifics, apparently we’ll have to wait until 5/18 and the governor’s overall plan which she said she will follow once its released.
The one thing I do agree with her on is slow walking any opening. She seems to have gotten good advice from someone and is listening.
Where did she say she would be releasing to the public, a list of business s and landlords she would be giving taxpayer money to? That is very important to us and if she has a good reason for keeping that info secret I would like to know what it is. Did she address that and if not why not?
You could reasonably say she answered the first 6 questions about reopening by saying she would follow lead of governor, but, she absolutely, positively ducked, bobbed, and weaved on the last 6, just a round about answer, versus a straight answer. In others words, a bland BS sandwhich, served up like the true politician she is.
Not exactly a vibrant and dynamic sandwhich eh Johnny?
The lovely Linda Tyer has to propose a fiscal year 2021 municipal budget soon. It won’t be a pretty picture. For the past decades, Pittsfield politics has always and predictably raised municipal taxes and fees by around 5% per fiscal year, while raising municipal debts by tens of millions of dollars per fiscal year. Mayor Linda Tyer won’t be able to soak Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski this time around due to the decreased revenues from the COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic. Matt Kerwood will have to part with his $10.1 million slush fund to cover the city government’s budget shortfall. In closing, the hyped “Ruberto renaissance” of spending tens of millions of taxpayer dollars, including around $3 million from GE’s settlement fund, on arts and culture will backfire this Summer of 2020. (It didn’t work in the first place).
She CANNOT give away a ton of taxpayer money and then raise taxes. She needs to LOWER them. Her business friends are not the only ones taking a hit from this. She herself is a lame duck mayor sitting on a fat paycheck with all kinds of perks and advantages while living on the perimeter of her city which, while she would like you to believe otherwise, is an expanding cesspool.
Someone asks if she had driven around her city lately to see the condition of the roads or the garbage everywhere. Did she comment on that and if not why not. What is her plan if she has one?
Wednesday, May 13th, 2020, is the day when the U.S. Senate debates and votes on the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. The U.S. Constitution entitles U.S. Citizens to privacy, while the Patriot Act contradicts our constitutional right to privacy. Since 9/11/2001, the Patriot Act has had many reported (and unreported) abuses. Does the federal government protect our constitutional right to privacy or do they have the right under the Patriot Act to spy on us? Do we live in a Free Country or are we under the control of “Big Brother”? This is the very definition of insanity!

The U.S. Constitution is just an old 18th Century piece of paper that many U.S. Senators wipe their behinds with! The Patriot Act allows the federal government to openly spy on We the People. U.S. Citizens have no privacy! Instead, we have “Big Brother” government. I wonder how soon our democracy will die and our country will turn into an authoritarian regime?

Wow that’s a bullshit and snowjob sandwich.
GREAT BARRINGTON — A Housatonic man arrested last week for allegedly possessing more than 700 bags of heroin was out on bail for another set of drug charges for which he is still awaiting trial in Pittsfield.
In addition to facing these new charges filed in Southern Berkshire District Court, Ryan Babcock, 34, is also facing multiple charges in Central Berkshire District Court alleging possession and intent to distribute narcotics and prescription pills.
His next pretrial date in Pittsfield is scheduled for July 9.
At his further arraignment Friday by teleconference in Southern Berkshire District Court, Judge William Rota revoked his bail and ordered Babcock held without bail for 90 days at the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction on the earlier charges from last summer.
Rota set Babcock’s first pretrial hearing for June 4 in Southern Berkshire District Court.
Great Barrington police officers spotted him driving Main Street the morning of May 5, knowing his license had been previously revoked.
Stimulus dope.
He was looking for “The Homeless Hilton” on South Street, but was searching behind the wrong Guidos
If you elect a clown don’t be surprised when the doors fall off the car.
Firstly – she says they already decided who gets the money.
Secondly, there will be no one left to pay the bill when it comes due. These dotties, Yuki, farmers market types — who have an almost psychopathic need for others to pay their way in life make up the ‘non profit’ or special business community. It is the second biggest racket in the Berkshires. How many live mortgage free from trust funds or family money but want struggling elderly taxpayers to pay for their hobby business? Their parents never taught them right from wrong. You don’t beg for money for non essentials. Hell no. The government is going broke paying for bs initiatives. I doubt the Bianchi crowd would do much better because they would just paid the pockets of a different group of constituents but they would be a lot less duplicitous about it. Sickening.
Also, she got someone else to write that for her. I am guessing it was someone we have mentioned in this site before.
Very well said. Wish I could give you ten thumbs up.
Thanks man. Every fast one they think is original has already been tried.
Dan: Can you tell us who authorized the insane idea of putting homeless (from who knows where) into the Hilton Garden Inn. I wonder what the reaction is when the real visitors staying there see them.
You can see them panhandling at the entrance to Price Chopper in Lenox.
Give them directions to Tyer’s house. She’ll take care of them.
This was a decision made by state government. Part of the deal includes professional cleaners coming in and sanitizing after a person leaves. Tbey will have the cleanest rooms in Berkshire County. Anyone that wouldn’t stay there after this would be the same people not drinking Corona beer.
Mucas Garcia
Hotel rooms are filth incubators just like everywhere else. According to one study, approximately 81 percent of surfaces swabbed in a hotel room had at least “some” fecal bacteria. But the most egregious surface was that of the TV remote control. Light switches weren’t much better.
I read she will follow the Govenors recommendations that will be slow and cautious. I read there are over 100 businesses that would like help with funding and Dotties can apply. She worries those that dont follow the caution involved here by following a simple plan of opening could jeopardize what we have accomplished in Pittsfield and that would be disappointing requiring us to move backwards…..I agree with this approach 100% and am glad to hear that this is her attitude. Its a thoughtful common sense approach.Slow and easy.
You also believe that kids are dumb and can’t achieve and can’t be taught to read and nothing is wrong with kids reading at 60% of the state level while you take your 80k for sitting on your ass.
Btw, for the teacher lefty union people who want it to be like Scandinavia with free shit – those societies have opened up their schools.
Yeah and she’s full of shit. She already chose the businesses I mean what the fuck and why do we need another brewpub that’s going to fail or move.
The City Council last night approved a property tax relief package for Robert Trask from Lee who wants to open a brewpub on North St. Then awarded him with $150,000 from the City’s economic development fund to equip it.
I am so pissed about this. We have small businesses in this town who are struggling to stay alive! Freddies on Fenn St. I have observed was frantically searching for help when the small business loans were announced. He could not manuver through the red tape. There are so many more needing support to survive. This action by the Mayor and City Council during this Pandemic is unforgiveable!! I don’t know Robert Trask and have no ill will toward him or his business, but this is wrong. Take care of Pittsfield businesses Mayor Tyer and City Council. What the hell is wrong with you people?
How could the above comment get any negatives unless it’s from someone on the take. Damnit, it’s so fing venal at this point they barley conceal it.
After all the drug arrests and DUIs do people in the Berkshires need more places to get three sheets?
It’s the moon bats and the cumbies police. if you are posting at 3am and voting at 3am you are doing it from a cumbies parking lot
Barry, this means you.
I have said it numerous times on this site, what a slap in the face of the long standing Pittsfield businesses that have been here for YEARS and not asked for a single dime, but show up and pay the tax bill and never bitch. Thank you Kevin Morandi for echoing the sentiment, that was important for those businesses to be acknowledged. We are now going to give taxpayer funding to a brewery that will be in direct competition to places like Patricks, District, and Wandering Star. Not to mention, the model for running this business has completely changed since it was brought forth. As a result of the pandemic, can the brewery keep the promised amount of jobs? Can they be sustainable at substantially reduced capacity? Also, is Yuki going to abstain from every important vote that happens on North/Tyler? Complete waste of an at-large seat.
It used to be that when you went into business you knew it was full of risks from a variety of directions. And you needed a business plan that recognized that. But now our mayor has decided that the taxpayers, whom have their own family financial burdens, must be the parachute for those who go into business. That is so fucked up on so many levels and reminds me of the Enron scandal.
How about the only brewery in Pittsfield currently, Wandering Star, getting some relief from being shut down?
“Does anybody remember laughter??”

What did she say? Just a bunch of empty circle talk. What questions did she answer? None. It verified what I said a couple days ago. She had to check with Bowtie, Deanna, PeePee Petie and Bare Bare so they could craft an answer for her to give the Planet. Mayor Useless can’t speak in full sentences, never could, when on her own she speaks in cliches. After watching the City Council Laugh In/Hollywood Squares meeting last night I have lost all hope that the City of Pittsfield is going to survive. Just the fact that they approved $300,000 for a brewery for someone that is not even a resident of Pittsfield tells us local taxpayers everything. What has the Mayor and City Council done to help the actual taxpayers? Us taxpayers are not receiving free rent, free mortgage payments, free food, free masks, free anything. We just keep receiving bills from the City of Pittsfield and we pay them. Yet so many of the receivers have always been and still are receiving assistance with subsidized rent, utilities, food, and constant freebees, Our taxes are going to be beyond sky high, how else are they going to keep playing the money game. What is Mayor Clueless and her puppet CC going to do when taxpayers start putting up the House For Sale signs and get out of Pittsfield. Then again that is if you can sell your home in this filthy, trashed filled, crime ridden, drug filled, prostitute filled, potholed filled, lack of businesses and retail stores Vibrant & Brilliant City. Oh, wait a minute we are going to build a City financed SPACE CAPSULE. That item alone might sell my house. Yay! There is some HOPE. By the way, Connell’s dog was once again the star of the City Council meeting, maybe the dog can figure out how to use Zoom, because Chris can’t. The dog mugs was much better to look at than Pissed Off Pee Pee Peties huge mug.
House for sale signs? Take a look at Pittsfield on Zillow.com.
Just took a look, WOW! Pathetically sad and verifies my thoughts. Thanks Johnny.
Dan – can you ask Cook the lawyer to comment if there was a quid pro for Lee taking the toxic dump and Linda giving these Lee people $$ for the unnecessary Brewery? Are those negotiations public through FOIL? That is the only connection I could think of this arrangement.

On more time:
On TV every hour of every day for 2 or 3 years: “Trump is a Russian agent.”
Under oath in private: “We ain’t got dick for evidence on any of this.”
Mad-I believe once President Trump wins a second term, a day of reckoning will becoming for the Barry Sotero crowd.
Are you really going to vote for Trump?
Trump said he will bring charges in 2 weeks against Obama for his crimes that everyone knows about.Who here knows what he will be charged with?Trump said it so we know its True.
I heard he was getting extradited with Eric Holder to Mexico. For murders committed with Fast and Furious guns. American jails are too nice for either one.
But seriously, Mexico wants to know the truth about this Sotero crime scandal as much as Americans do.
As does border patrol agent Brian Terry’s widow, murdered with one of the Sotero/Holder supplied guns

On January 5, 2017, the day after Strzok moved to keep the Flynn case open, President Obama met with Director Comey, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, Vice President Biden, and National Security Advisor Susan Rice. In that meeting they briefed Obama on the Russia investigation. It’s unclear to what extent they discussed the details of the investigation amongst each other. Given all that we know now regarding the fake foundation to the inquiry, it’s time we asked: what did Obama and Biden know and when did they know it?
Fox News Talking Points from the White House is starting to enter my thinking. I only started watching 3 weeks ago and Im beginning to think Don Trump is a cool dude……The Rhode Island Govenor is smart. She said to business in her state that the citizen s only want to open once and it should be slow and cautious so the economy slowly grows. The fear is Trumps total lack of leadership…..Hes is one very weak human being.Trumps lack of discipline could be a disaster.Follow the govenors or follow Fox News

Hollywood needs to quarantine in their mansions and swimming pools and leave politics to the rest of the country. So sick of their comments almost always against President Trump. Now even Howard Stern getting into the action with negative comments about the president. He’s not Hollywood just far left annoying media.
Don’t cha just hate movies and actors? I am never going to go to a movie or watch TV again!!! And if I could take back all the times I went in the past I would, just to show my loyalty to Mr. Trump whose Apprentice show was the only good show on TV EVAH. In fact I hate everybody he hates and that is just about everybody. MAGA
Not many talking about the blowup of the farce that was the Russia hoax. Why?
“Russians hacked the DNC server,” started it all, didn’t it.
DNC would not let the FBI see its server.
DNC hired CrowdStrike instead, which found NO evidence that the Russians had hacked it, or that anyone at all had hacked it.
An inside job?
I’ve said for a long time that all of this stuff leads back to Obama.
Maybe that’s why no one is talking about it. And the “clean, articulate” Barry is mumbling something about the “rule of law,” as if he knows what that is.
I thought democrats keep bring this up.
Does anyone know what was going on last night at Glenwood Ave. ? With so many police cruisers on the scene it looked dynamic and vibrant.
“A viewer sent photos showing police cruisers and crime scene tape on a portion of Glenwood Avenue in Pittsfield.
NewsChannel 13 called police — they were not able to release any information to us.”
Mayor needs to stop being cute with tax dough. Karma bites you in the ass,ask Trump. What’s going to happen is a total economic breakdown here and astronomical crime, including traffic violations, domestic, mayhem, theft, littering, and total disregard for the law. It’s not going to be pretty here. Money always talks. Do you think someone with a family and out of work is going to be happy? While the administration and her salary and her staff help, laugh at giving away your money? Better give the ppd an economic infusion, they’ll need it.
Pittsfield Police including the K-9 unit spent most of yesterday morning looking for a suspect with a gun around Merriam Street, West Housatonic Street and West Street, but, we will never hear anything about it just like we will probably not hear about what was happening last night on Glenwood Avenue. Mayor Useless wants us all to believe the City of Pits is a scene from Andy of Mayberry.

I will assume you are either joking or completely ignorant of police operations, and dynamic and vibrant, tactical situations. Expect more crime, mayhem, mental illness, etc, with government mandated and unconstitutional lockdowns.
In the 1950s 60s 70s 80s Pittsfield had more dive bars because it was a place where almost everyone got drunk everday day and many of them went home to intimidate the family. These kinds of bars are much different than the shit that went on 50 years ago.The bars today are much better than those were. Also people today dont drink like they did 40 years ago.
My favorite was the Blue Room,
So if this was a trade off for the river cleanup – quid pros along with one of the principles from a crummy school in Pittsfield getting a job in the Lenox district – would you still think it was a great plan?

There are 850 ,000,000 million guns owned in America. How afraid are you Pat?
Citizens have the right to own guns otherwise we leave ourselves vulnerable to a tyrannical government. This happened in Venezuela where that socialist/communist government did a gun grab on all citizens right before they took total control over the citizens who are now treated like dirt by their own government. Many are now starving and helpless to defend themselves.

Currently Dotties Go Fund Me Page is up to $6,132, and the owner Jessica Rufo stated on this same page that she has applied for several grants. Before any monies are handed out to Jessica or Yuki Cohen owner of Methsulah they should be required to supply an explanation as to why they are unable to open their businesses for curbside/takeout. Both establishments have decent menu’s that they could be providing takeout. How much money does Jessica from Dotties need to brew some coffee? Sounds to me that they are nothing but lazy bums looking for a free handout from the City of Pittsfield, and unfortunately they will get it. Yuki has added absolutely nothing to the City since she became a councilor, she just abstains from all votes. So us taxpayers are already paying her and also paying her health insurance. Meanwhile us taxpayers are getting squat.
We want more stimulus Mr. President. Make it beautiful over here on Daniels Ave baby!
Dow is Down. More stimulus for the tickets and smokers.
What you got a problem with us hardworking taxpayers footing the cost of cardboard crack and tobacco for the layabouts?
Merry & Bright, it seems to me that Mayor Tyer takes up a lot of space in your head. A lot of angry posts from you. You spend a lot of time everyday venting that anger here on Planetvalenti. I’m thinking you should call her up each morning so she can tell you what kind of day you are going to have.
Sorry if the truth offends you Mr. Worldwide. How much money are you being handed? By the way it is a well know fact that the Mayor does not respond to phone calls unless you are in her inner circle and trust me I don’t want to be. Yes, I am angry that the City of Pittsfield is being neglected by her. But trust me I don’t let it ruin my day. I just state the facts, sorry you don’t like that.
I am not an inner circle person by any means but the Mayor returned my call recently openly discussed issues I am having trying to run my business in this incredibly challenging time. We may not agree on all issues but she was open to listening and hearing about My concerns.
Thanks for the report, MARK.
I’m not offended at all. Not a fan. It just seems that you spend an inordinate amount of time bashing her. Lots of anger. I’m worried about your heath.
I’m with Merry, and also sick and tired of this city spinning down the shitter with each passing day, and add in the corruption and incompetence to the free handouts to the layabouts, and I and many others end up feeling just as Merry. Doesn’t affect my worldview though. I enjoy every day God gives me.
Yeah those darn layabouts. To many people on social security disability or sucking off some other social program. I hate paying for freeloaders. Thank god for good religious people like you.
Didn’t you read Tyers reply to Dan? Dotties hasn’t applied!
So either the Mayor or the owner of Dotties who posted she applied is lying through their teeth. Gee folks I wonder which one? One guess, their last name rhymes with liar.
Well – they don’t have to count the go fund me money as income – only as a gift. I expect all the bs merchants will be churning out those online pity parties for months to come.
Who is stupid enough to contribute? Must be TSC.
I find Tyer’s response disturbing!
First of all she states on May 9th there were FOUR NEW CASES, an “unprecedented health crisis.” Are you kidding me?! Testing will reveal more cases, but the purpose of the lockdown was to avoid overstressing the hospitals. As of today there are 4 people hospitalized at BMC ( not to be confused with the 4 new cases apparently not admitted to BMC) and 1 hospitalized at Fairview. A handful of newly diagnosed cases does not make an unprecedented health crisis!! Does not warrant a lockdown!
Second, she states that “individual businesses are desperate for help.” Well then, lift the lockdown so they can make a living! Handouts are NOT the answer, especially when handed out to a few politically connected individuals. Hey mayor, why not cut taxes for EVERYONE?! What about Nautilus, long-time downtown business? First he got screwed over with the parking kiosks in the nearby lot, now he’s in limbo along with other small businesses wondering why he’s not allowed to make a living!
LIFT THE LOCKDOWN!
If they had tested everyone who died in Berkshire county since the first of the year there would be well over one hundred cases. Very little of what you see in Pittsfield is as it seems. And if you depend on a local newspaper to dig out the truth you are living in the past.
If they tested everybody who died in America since Corona they would find plenty of souls that died of something else, but is written up as Corona to get more federal money.
Close Camp Winafew for the summer. Trust me.
You’re right Fritzy. Question is, if mayor had balls to defy gov and open city, what would happen? This is a state ordered shutdown not a city one. Open everything
I understand your point, Tell, but New York is opening regionally, as certain sections of upstate NY are in good shape & will open shortly. If Tyer, Hinds & TFB were really concerned about getting people in Berkshire County back to work – then how about lobbying the Guv on our behalf? What the hell are they doing to reopen the Berkshires? 5 people total hospitalized for covid in the county. Not a health crisis as the mayor claims. We were originally told the reason for the lockdown was to insure that the hospitals would not be overrun. Hasn’t happened!
A must-read is Howie’s column based on the state stats…excellent!

Bowie sux. Just like i said on here a year ago. Corporations now aren’t hiring to full capacity because of Corona. They aren’t going to reinvest unless they make a profit. I hope B Bank goes in the gutter, hiring all those legacy employees and dumping its local workforce here years ago. Of course Daly’s got the g h.
Why did Daley get the boot?
So I saw the memos today and I have pictures of two.
Internal BMC memo soliciting to house homeless “high risk COVID positive patients” at Fairview Commons.
Many of the patients are “addicted to opioids” are “alcoholics in need of a detox program”.
Several have “severe mental health issues”.
The stat was going to pay $900-$2,300 a day per patient based on the severity of their illness.
The State declined BHS due to prior failures to mitigate and contain the outbreak.
The other memo is a string of emails from DPH to the Pittsfield including the mayor. They called the city out for its lack of response.
I will try and post them
These patients ended up in GB and Pittsfield/Lenox.
And how many currently, are at “the Homeless Hilton” on South St now?
That should have been one of Dan’s question to Tyer. Along with how was Pittsfield/Hilton selected as a location.
Then how long will this be, and where will they go next? Section 8 local?
Why not “Hotel on North”?
The druggies won’t have to go so far, just outside.
But the boozers won’t have A-(crack) Mart close by. Close by to BMC for ODs. Two blocks from PPD.
Vibrant and dynamic Covid-19 on North St! Tell Tyer!!!
Remember in the 1960s when the entire city was drunk.Must have been 100 alcohol dens.
And I’m guessing you were familiar with them all.
I highly doubt anyone ever stays in the hotel on north. I bet the bar and restaurant do ok. It looks like a front.
Instead of the HON (Hotel on North) we would have the CON (COVID on North).
Would love to see the e-mails.
Joe Biden – he’s about as corrupt as they come. And this guy is the best the DNC can come up with, to run for president? He’s got enough skeletons in his closet to fill several cemeteries!

Its amazing you dont see corruption in Trump
Blue state governors lead the nation in nursing home deaths. 60% of deaths in Mass. occurred in nursing homes!

Listen to yourself.
Charlie Baker changed parties ? He’s rumored to be a ( Red ) republican.
He may have an “R” behind his name, but he’s a full- fledged Trump-hating Dem/Globalist!
We only know one thing about the killer virus and that is that it’s still here. May13,2020 and the President is so desperate he seems unstable on his feet. The President knows he screwed up.
So is it true in Pittsfield, Ma. that neither the mayor, city council president, every council person, treasurer and the daily newspapers feel that the taxpayers have any rights with regard where or how taxpayer money is given out? Is it true that the mayor and city council president feel that taxpayers have no right to know who they give money too? Is it true that not one council person would access this information and pass it along to the people who elected them because they are intimidated by the mayor?
And is it true that the Berkshire Eagle agrees with the mayor and city council president that the taxpayers have no right to know where their taxpayer money goes? And does that apply to the city solicitor as well?
The best thing that can happen is state and fed monies dry up and she doesn’t have anything to dole out. The smaller businesses make our economy when things get bad,not a brewery in a city that’s gone to pot.
Excellent point. The brewery giveaway was a bad risk. Moon made the point that if the business was willing to take the risk, so should the city. Talk about anti-logic.
That dumb bitch doesn’t know what risk is
It is true.
“I feel like Moses wandering through the desert.” – Jason McCandless. Wandering, indeed.
School budget proposed cuts of ONLY 1.4 million. No mention of closing some elementary schools – why not? This is a farce. Make some REAL cuts. Schools were expecting 2.4 mil boost in funding from state.
and what if the schools do not open in the fall? Which is a huge possibility. Will they continue to pay all the teachers, administrative and their health insurance?
Why would they not reopen? If the schools remain closed, along with daycares – what parent would be able to go back to work? For 4 people in BMC, you think the schools should be closed? Kids are the least affected by the Chinese Flu. Are we gonna close schools every time there is a flu outbreak?
Check the second and third words of my comment WHAT IF? While thinking ahead has never been a strong suit for the city of Pittsfield it might not hurt to consider the possibility. Because contrary to what people might like to think this particular pandemic is NOT over.
Fifty was cut from the cultural competency.
Who is “Fifty?”
FRITZ
Significant cuts should be the case (but won’t be). 10% across the boards. The C-19 gives us the perfect “excuse” to begin a badly needed correction in this department.
I just find the numbers interesting. As posted on Drudge:
CABLE NEWS RACE
TUES. MAY 12 2020
FOXNEWS HANNITY 4,481,000
FOXNEWS TUCKER 4,368,000
FOXNEWS FIVE 4,017,000
FOXNEWS LAURA 3,718,000
MSNBC MADDOW 3,466,000
FOXNEWS BAIER 3,240,000
MSNBC O’DONNELL 2,526,000
MSNBC HAYES 2,027,000
CNN CUOMO 1,832,000
CNN TAPPER 1,577,000
CNN COOPER 1,510,000
Where the hell is Wolf Blitzer????
Latest numbers of the big nets’ nightly “news,” again linked by Drudge the other day, something like
ABC = 9 to 10 mil
NBC = 7 to 8 mil
CBS = 6 to 7 mil
The chick who filled in for Norah O’Donnell on CBS last evening was awful with the mannerisms, tsking and clucking like a 9th grader in between gum snaps–leave that baloney to the cable channels.
And to think of the pedigree of CBS News — Cronkite, Sevareid, Collingwood, Hotilet, Dickerson, Agronsky, Murrow, and all the rest.
You forgot one…..Howard Tupper…..
“How ya’ doing’, small fry?”
Dan….Rather?
Fox and Trump own the media airwaves. The idea that the media is all democratic is silly. The right owns daytime talk radio too.
You watch the view
Barack Hussein Obama, most corrupt president in American history!
Joe Biden, most corrupt vice president in American history!
Worse than Watergate we are seeing as the evidence against them keeps piling up. More documents will be released soon. What they were doing could also be done to anyone. This would be a completely out of control tyrannical government. They have all this surveillance equipment too so that there would be nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. This is like something out of a frightening science fiction movie where people are slaves to the government and if we do nothing about it this could become normal behavior from government.
Rachel Maddow said that Russia would soon be shutting off electricity in our country, and crazy people believed it during the Russia/Trump collusion hoax that Maddow was promoting, but something real like this where we have solid evidence of what was happening, the far left media wants to cover it up. Little mention of this Obama/Comey/Biden illegal activity by Maddow and other far left news outlets except to say the GOP is using this as a distraction from COVID-19.
lemmings for Fox brain
So true. Worse than Watergate. The far left media gives it little coverage. Rachel Maddow was telling so many lies on her show during the Russia hoax, but now gives this story little attention saying the GOP wants to take attention off of COVID-19. Obama needed to get rid of Flynn because he would have exposed the Russia/Trump collusion hoax.
It is Rachals, and Obama and Hillary’s fault except when it is Chinas fault or Cumos or blah blah balah fill in the blank on any given Hannity show.
At a desk far far away Putin and the boys are around a table toasting shots of vodka ..They realize they did it conquer and divide one day the book will fold up on its self.
Fox told you.
Gordmans Department Store in North Adams is now filing for bankruptcy. It was open for about a month in North Adams after replacing the previous department store that closed in that location. What a waste. If people can pack in Walmart and shop, why couldn’t a department store be open? Same for many other retail stores like Barnes & Noble. They should be opened. People should be able to buy books.
get all the books you want cheap on ebay
I do order books online, but I love the atmosphere in the book stores because it’s like going to the library. You never know what treasures you will find. Also great if I need a certain book quickly.
The Berkshire Eagle is doing a news survey.
They want to know how you think they are doing, what could go wrong with this stupid exercise.

Berkshire Hills Bancorp. (BHLB): New 52-week low: $9.15 per share. Not a peep from management.
What’s wrong with the water here.
Sell already.
How about it. Stop talking about it and sell before you lose more of your shirt.
Dow is up on news Trump to offer help for Dems new stimulus package.
It’s not time to open up yet.
Comments from Hendrix and Johnny Absurd near the beginning. Very good prescient comments early on in this blog. My point is, these two have an understanding of local economics. We’re letting a lot of things go but, the city council, hopefully, should understand some of this. My worry is they understand nothing. Okay, that’s not new, however, I hope they understand what’s at stake. Your city is in trouble. I know Chris Connel and Kevin Morandi understand this. Does anyone else?
Chuck,Connell and Morandi should be more passionate when they speak. Instead they give Kuffkinks,The Monster head and Ruffer very little argument. What does this Council need to be pounded into their brain? You know,I know the Planet knows, you save funds not spend them in a time of uncertainty. Who the hell is to say this Brewery will pay a nickel in taxes after the first year. Personally they won’t make it. Beer? Come on?
Pittsfield politics economic/financial answer to everything is to raise taxes and fees, and increase municipal debts/liabilities, to unsustainable levels, while ensuring that Matt Kerwood has a $10.1 million slush fund. Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski can either “Assume the position” or move out of town.
Thousands of people have moved out of Pittsfield (Mass.) over the past decades. Hundreds of living wage jobs have been lost. The only winners are the one political (Democratic) party ruling elites, the vested interests (Big 3 public – police, fire, & school – unions), and the special interests, such as out-of-town millionaires.
My theory about Pittsfield politics is that they either don’t care about the city’s distressed local economy and/or they use “perverse incentives” to collect as much social services dollars as possible to fill City Hall’s fiscal coffers. GE left Pittsfield 3 decades ago, but Pittsfield politics has done nothing to create living wage jobs for the average working poor Pittsfield resident. The more poverty means more social services state and federal dollars for Pittsfield. It is similar to the state lottery and casino gambling, where it is really a voluntary tax on the working poor that benefits state and local government’s fiscal coffers.
Since Mayor Jimmy Ruberto, Pittsfield politics has been in the media spotlight for its public investments in the arts and cultural venues. The catch is that “Ruberto’s renaissance” spent tens of millions of taxpayer dollars, including around $3 million GE settlement fund dollars, on downtown arts and cultural projects and institutions. Pittsfield politics modeled downtown Pittsfield’s arts and cultural venues after Brooklyn, NY’s artsy gentrification. It didn’t work for PIttsfield! Downtown Pittsfield is a scary place, especially after hours, that most people avoid like the plague. Now, with COVID-19, Berkshire County’s tourism economy will take a major hit this coming Summer of 2020.
It’s Chiners fault.
Congress votes on stimulus package two tomorrow, will passs. This would give two thousand a month for three months and would cover everyone under 120 thousand a year.It would even include money for children and.
have another drink.
