PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY MAY 11, 2020) — On THE PLANET‘s radar today: Tanglewood, North Adams mayor Tom Bernard, and two derelict locations on beautiful, vibrant, collaborative Tyler Street in Pittsfield. First, a brief note. For all those betting nickels, mayor Linda Tyer DID get back to us Sunday night, meeting the deadline. We had already posted today’s column, so THE PLANET will present the full text of the mayor’s response on Wednesday.

TANGLEWOOD — Let’s cut to the chase. Tanglewood’s not happening this year. With it will likely go the remnants of the local cultural, therefore, tourist season. Jacob’s Pillow, Barrington Stage, MassMOCA, and others have already given up the ghost, but Tanglewood is the 800-pound gorilla.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra said in April that it would make decisions about the Boston Pops season and Tanglewood by mid-May. Last week, the BSO cancelled the Pops 2020 season, including the 4th of July spectacular on the Hub Esplanade. It said nothing about Tanglewood, but THE PLANET has learned that the Lenox/Stockbridge venue will be as dark at the dark side of the moon this summer.

THE PLANET‘s sources come from the BSO’s Artistic Administrative section. Each mentioned a series of “contentious” meetings debating “to be or not to be” on the fast approaching BSO season in the Berkshires. The crown jewel of the Berkshires’ cultural season has yet to make an official announcement. PLANET sources say logistics demand a decision no later than May 22, with an announcement “likely” to happen “on, before, or near” May 15. The one caveat seems to be pressure from “the BSO Adminstration” to go ahead with the summer season, who fear the financial consequences of ditching Tanglewood. The orchestra will lose $10.2 million from canceled events assuming Tanglewood DOES occur.  To deal with its dire finances, the BSO has already has furloughed musicians and cut salaries. So let us be clear. Our declaration that Tanglewood will shut down this year includes the asterisk of a political fight between the Administrative and Artistic sides.

The BSO web site lists “Administration” and “Administration/Artistic” in its directory. An influential minority among this group is still pushing hard to reopen “as normal,” our sources say. “Administration” members:

Mark Volpe, Eunice and Julian Cohen President and Chief Executive Officer, endowed in perpetuity
Evelyn Barnes, Jane B. and Robert J. Mayer, M.D. Chief Financial Officer
Sue Elliott, Judith and Stewart Colton Tanglewood Learning Institute Director
Anthony Fogg, William I. Bernell Artistic Administrator and Director of Tanglewood
Leslie Wu Foley, Helaine B. Allen Director of Education and Community Engagement

Alexandra J. Fuchs, Thomas G. Stemberg Chief Operating Officer

]Ellen Highstein, Edward H. Linde Tanglewood Music Center Director, endowed by Alan S. Bressler and Edward I. Rudman
Bernadette M. Horgan, Director of Public Relations

Lynn G. Larsen, Orchestra Manager and Director of Orchestra Personnel

Bart Reidy, Chief Strategy Officer and Clerk of the Corporation

Christopher W. Ruigomez, Director of the Boston Pops and Concert Operations and Assistant Director of Tanglewood
Kathleen Sambuco, Director of Human Resources

We have contacted Horgan, BSO director of PR, requesting comment.

MAYOR TOM BERNARD — Who died at Crane Stationery and made him boss?

On April 29, the iconic Crane Stationery brand announced it would be closing. It cited several reasons, including lack of consumer demand. People don’t write notes and letters. They text. The next day, the company, which is owned by Mohawk Paper, announced that 85% of its workforce would lose their jobs on June 19. The remaining 15% would stay on the job until late September to fulfill existing orders. On May 1, Crane notified North Adams mayor Tom Bernard.

Bernard, of course, has done about all a mayor can do with a decaying city, crime-ridden and soaked in poverty as it is. Put a coat of paint on it and proclaim himself to be a “trailblazer” building a “successful, inclusive, and safe community.” If you want more of this gobbledygook, visits his website. A politician, of course, can’t face reality, and Bernard’s no different, which perhaps explains his puzzling reaction to Crane’s announcement.

THE PLANET understands his torment over losing about 270 out of 300+ manufacturing jobs, but would that explain the mayor’s near-psychotic reaction of “ordering” Crane to adhere to a long list of conditions before re-opening? The mayor’s attempt at bullying came after a determination that, because of the company’s business with the medical industry, it qualified as “essential.” On Friday (5/8), Thomas O’Connor Jr., Mohawk CEO, told the mayor where he could store is “order” of “conditions” by reopening the Crane facility on the Curran Highway.

THE PLANET sides with O’Connor and Mohawk. They are a private business, responsibly run, with a long history of safety. Bernard needs a crash course in the nature of capital and The Dreaded Private Sector. Politically, he is at this point a wilted dandelion plant on the putting green at Augusta.

———- ooo ———-

TYLER STREET — Pittsfield’s “hip, vibrant, dynamic, collaborative” Avenue of the Angels features two long-standing eyesores, the former fire station and Hess Forest. To its credit, the city wants to finally do something about them. So it says. Office of Community development director Deanna Ruffer and city purchasing agent Coleen Hunter-Mullet have issued an RFP seeking proposals for developing the dilapidated fire station, still a fascinating brick structure with practically infinite possibilities.

This being Pittsfield, what would seem straightforward has taken what a troubling turn. Has a valid plan been submitted but rejected solely because of political revenge? THE PLANET doesn’t have enough of the story yet, but we hope to present something later in the week.

As for Hess Forest, the city has initiated an attempt to gain control of the property from its derelict owner, Hess Retail Stores of Findlay, OH. THE PLANET backs that effort. It will be a tough but winnable fight. Hess has demonstrated epic negligence. Pittsfield must refuse to take no for answer. The city wants to turn it into a green space. That’s funny. It should have just left the forest to continue to overtake the former gas station. By now, we would have another Jungle-Rama.

Unfortunately for North Adams the lack of leadership began under the Alcombright Administration and continues today with the Masters pulling the Puppets strings and when the Puppet is left to operate without strings it doesn’t know how.

This was evidenced by the much maligned Puppet Master, John DeRosa “Retiring” after a dreadful ruling by the Ethics Commission.

These elected “Leaders” lead for their Masters and theirs.

How many Public Servants have been furloughed or laid off in the Commonwealth? I’d be willing to bet my State Pension that the number is no where near those in the DPS.

As of today I am fully vested at $401….a year. any takers?

Well, the white collar bullshit is costing us all more than than the petty crime. It’s fascinating that Hotel on North is the same family that got the Taconic HS contract and built the school not fit for purpose.
How many bennies from Crayola and the banks does Hotel on North get? How many people for zoning positions does Crayola appoint when her husband financially benefits from the zoning decisions? It’s worse than a mugging all the corruption – and it’s why no one will invest locally that isn’t on the take.

It is all bad news, blogger Dan Valenti. Tanglewood and the Berkshires’ tourism economy will take a major hit this Summer of 2020. North Adams has made attempts to better itself after falling to the lowest depths, but it is being hit with more and more bad news. Pittsfield’s inner city neighborhoods are very poor and downtrodden. North Street is called “Social Services Alley”. I would risk my life walking Pittsfield’s inner city streets after hours. In a matter of 50 years, Pittsfield and North Adams economic fortunes have gone bust. In closing, at least North Adams tried (but failed) to improve, while Pittsfield didn’t give a damn.

Causeway, what’s your issue with people hanging out at The Causeway? I did notice one of those useless neighborhood watch signs on the road. Is it a trouble spot, or sometin? Has always seemed to attract the outta shape, white trash, smoking and drinking fishermen types, not that it makes em bad people, and occasionally a real crime like a shootin. But overall, besides the real trash to go with the shot trash, seems like it’s an okay place.

Maybe if you are in a position of power watching the whole thing unfold from a safe distance it is incredible. And you are sitting on a pile of taxpayer money that you are handing out to friendly supporters.

Meanwhile mayor (in name only) Tyer wants to bleed the dubious Preservation account for another $110,000 give away to help with peoples rent. Uh, if I read it right the money will go directly to landlords. Hmmm. Now which “landlords” might the mayor have in mind? Will there be a public list of these landlords just like the public list of business s she is blessing with taxpayer cash?

Can some legal mind out there check and see if she can just be giving money away like this? And where does it all end? Where does it say Pittsfield taxpayers are obligated to subsidize business s and peoples rent? I need a new sewer line which I cannot afford. But I am supposed to help all these other people in trouble?
Hopefully someone can look into which of these landlords donated to her campaign or are otherwise in her circle of ass kissers.

In communist countries there are no private businesses just like there is no private property. Why are so many leaders in cities and towns across the country acting like the United States is a communist country especially in the Democrat areas of this country? A North Adams mayor thinks he is in charge of a private company. Democrat governors across the country are imposing strict quarantine measures that infringe on our freedoms. You can’t buy clothing or books in some areas, but abortion clinics are still open. Pot shops are still open in some states.

Or just go back to work and say come get me. Look what happened with the golf courses that said last week they were planning to reopen regardless of the order, the next day all of a sudden all golf courses in MA were allowed to open. Every governor saw the debacle that happened in TX with jailing a salon owner and they most certainly will not make that mistake.

I find it funny that you can go stand in a crowded grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store, or gas station, but if you want to meet with clients individually then your out of luck. Does the virus ignore the “essential” places of businesses while ignore the “non-essential?” Over 60% of the deaths in MA have been from nursing homes with a whopping 25 people between the ages of 30-59 dying and a staggering 0 between the ages of 1-29 dying of COVID. I think it is pretty safe to say way more people will become critically ill or die from not going to regular Dr or specialists appointments, losing their job & health insurance, or their business. I fear it is too late though, people have been brainwashed into the mindset that if you want to get a haircut, have a beer in a restaurant, or go see a movie your are selfish and will kill grandma.

It appears that unless you are willing to sue the Gov ( gun shops) or hire a well- connected lobbyist to fight on your behalf ( golf course owners) you will have to wait your turn to be allowed to reopen. People should be screaming about this unconstitutional extension of the lockdown.

Read “Berkshire Trade & Commerce” & Downtown Pittsfield (501c3); the mission statement. The Real Estate tycoons are RICO. Every section 8 tenant probably voted via “mail-in”. Registering to vote is probably a prerequisite for the tenants. If an individual files for funding – all of their personal identifying information is made available – perhaps a candidate could plan ahead & easily win a vote by perpetrating a mail-in ballot, or 500 mail-in ballots.

When you suppress voters by race and color, try and stop mail in voting despite the fact that you did so yourself, refuse to submit to constitutional oversight unless they’re from your party, attempt to shut out any critical media and only work with those that are either nutty or mainstream in your favor, fire anyone who tries to tell the truth because it doesn’t support your backstory, or be willing to lie and sacrifice human lives to keep power, that’s a dictatorship.

Hmm, who would fit that description?

Factually, from Washington to Pittsfield we are in the crapper. We are on our own. My only concern right now is my own family’s well-being because nobody else gives a damn.

That description sure doesn’t fit President Trump if that is what you are implying because he is all about freedom from the tyranny of big government. Big government will NEVER care about the concerns of the average person. Oh, they will pretend they do, but the globalists are all about looking at the big picture and consolidating power into one governing body. The far left Progressives are all about pushing globalism and promoting the wonders of communism as with Bernie Sanders as a classic example.

While Trump was tweeting all weekend doing zero in the War on the Virus and not having a plan that is killing 3,000 a day in the United States with no testing plan in place Trump has unleashed ignorance on a educated civilized capitalist country. In the dust of a leaderless country at war will with sickness and death are the small city mayors left to be criticized for trying.By the way the city of North Adams has one of the lowest rates of infection in the state .Both Pittsfield and North Adams have indeed been the leaders in Berkshire county. It is so frustrating to have watched a president melt in fear of leading. It really is time for Trump to resign.

Since we all have been living in a scene from the movie “Ground Hog Day” for many weeks now, what an exciting few days we have ahead of us. Tuesday night, we have the Pittsfield City Council Hollywood Square/Laugh In show. We can watch our elected officials make bumbling idiots out of themselves while they approve Mayor Useless’s next round of stealing our monies to build her money chest, of course no questions will be asked. Then we will watch while they approve two more TIFS. One TIF will give Food Critic White another place to feed his face. Yet they will give a long standing business like John’s Building Supply a red butt for trying to grow his business, especially Morandi who seemed to be locked in his attic, unaware of what is going on. All other towns and cities are cutting their budgets well aware of what the future will bring, but not the elected “do littles” in Pittsfield. Think about it, they have been meeting for 5 months now, what have they done for the taxpayers? On Wednesday, we will hear through Dan what Mayor Useless should have been telling us for weeks. Then again, will her comments to Dan be the honest truth. Did it take her all the days to respond to Dan so she could talk to Bowtie, Deanna, PeePee Petie and Bare Bare to get her story straight. We will have to wait and see. Thank you Dan for reaching out to her. Congrats, you are two for two lately. Much better odds than the mass majority of “Pittsfielders” which is Mayor Useless’s new name for us. She hides from us. To reinforce her basic message to us, Wash Your Hands.

Something for all of us to think about, myself included:

An observation by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, ‘I love you’ to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

And always remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by those moments that take our breath away.

George Carlin

I guess once you tell the people PIttsfield is an “Incredible” place to be during a pandemic you can’t let them find out about all the armed robberies, and rampant vandalism. That would look like you were wrong about living in Utopia.

Obviously the newspaper knows about this stuff and could print it if it wanted to but for some reason are going with the mayors smiley face stuff. Do they know their customers will remember this the next time their subscription comes up for renewal? And that potential customers will weigh these omissions should they consider becoming a regular customer? Don’t seem like it.

Hi Dan,

Speaking of incredibly BLOATED payrolls, take a gander at BSO’s.
I love going to Tanglewood and listening to the BSO and Boston POPS as much as anyone, but the amount of job padding on this list is ridiculous (see link). And this lengthy list does NOT include the BSO or POPS respective orchestras — the list is just of those employed in the ‘back-up’ organization. Reminds me of the bloated list of current and former Massachusetts state employees that forever receive a “kiss in the mail”, those whom columnist Howie Carr is always railing about.

But they still have evidence of Trump -Russia collusion . . .

Too bad that the Flynn railroading and the liars Brennan, Clapper et al. is being buried in the news, except for Chucky-with-Ass-On-Fire losing it behind the fireplace grate because DOJ dropped the case.

To review:

This is fresh off the Daily Pinnocchio Press aka Politico- the White House issued a memo that directs staffand anyone else who enters the West Wing to wear a mask or facial covering at all times in the building, except at their own desks. Additional procedures include daily testing for the majority of West Wing staff and additional teleworking depending on the office, according to two senior administration officials.

Pittsfield hasn’t had any new Covid cases since April 30th.

Also, I know a guy who is making $800+ weekly from unemployment. He was fired from his job a few months ago and hasn’t worked since. He brought home around $700 every two weeks when he was employed. Now he is bringing home more than twice what he earned in his paycheck.

This is the biggest, shadiest mess ever.

The nerve of Obama to try to fool the stupid people in America into believing his hands were totally clean in all this and he is defending the rule of law. Obama’s FBI threatened Flynn’s son with arrest if Flynn didn’t lie for them. Obama was completely behind using Flynn and the Russian spying on our elections to try to implicate President Trump by putting this shadow over his presidency which the in bed with the far left media used regularly to try to destroy Trump with ZERO evidence and they knew it. Driving north on North Street and turning right on Tyler Street is a sign on the right that is supposed to excite and infuse us with confidence. Basically it says we are now entering a street that is going to revitalize our city because it is the new center of progress. That’s basically what the sign on the right is supposed to convey to us Tyler Street is the future, or maybe a big part of it. Thanks for the dream. That’s all it is. You can please others who kiss up to you but, though it continues to sink into oblivion, North Street remains the heartbeat of the city. Of course the existing virus tragedy haunts us, but all will return to normal soon enough. We want Tyler Street to prosper but it’s a fallacy that it will revitalize Pittsfield It hasn’t for a hundred years and it won’t now. Stop dreaming, will you? Concentrate on North Street, Get rid of the ridiculous kiosks. That’s a start. Just a start.

A super Walmart would have revitalized Tyler Street, but as usual, stupid politicians put an end to that. Imagine having those nice wide aisles instead of the narrow ones we now have in Walmart during this pandemic. No way you can keep even 3 feet apart in some of these aisles never mind 6 feet. Lots of nice parking spaces too like they have in the North Adams Super Walmart, but again, shortsighted politicians would have none of it since they think we have enough stores in Pittsfield. Yes, we are packed in tighter than sardines, but before this pandemic everybody was just fine with that, right?

No respect for the presidency from these young women reporters. Both in their 20’s and just wanting to ask sarcastic questions. One young woman reporter asks why President Trump isn’t upset about all the deaths in our country. Why don’t you ask China that question, says President Trump. Then she gets all in a tizzy saying, “Why did you say that to me?” like some petulant teenage girl. Then another young woman gets into the action by insisting the president hear her question even though he has gone on to select somebody else because she wasn’t ready, but she won’t let it go. She insists on bullying her question through. Another sarcastic question from a female was why do you compare our testing to the rest of the world like this is some contest? Really stupid question since her own far left media constantly compares the test numbers of other countries to our country, but she isn’t bright enough to get that or she is just continuing more “gotcha” questions.
President Trump calls the session to the end at that point and good for him. These young women have zero manners or respect. The young have been taught that communist countries are not to be criticized in any way because communism is our future. These young people are truly products of a dysfunctional liberal school system.

America looks so third world in dealing with this virus on every level. Anyone who believes otherwise is lying to themselves. By the end of summer most Asian and European countries will be mostly open and on their way back to normalcy. But they will not be allowing any flights in from America because Americans will still be highly infected and losing a couple of thousand people a day. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/05/president-tanzania-didnt-trust-sent-samples-sheep-goats-bunny-trees-fruit-car-oil-covid-testing-results/

“President of Tanzania Didn’t Trust WHO So Sent Samples of Sheep, Goats, Bunny, Trees, Fruit and Car Oil for COVID Testing — The Results Are In, Bad News for Goat”

President Magufuli: We took samples from goats. We sent samples from sheeps. We took samples from pawpaws. We sent samples from car oil. And we took samples from other different things. And we took the samples to the laboratory without them knowing. And we even named all the samples. Like the sample of car oil. We named it Jabil Hamza, 30 years old, male. The results came back negative. When we took a sample from a Jackfruit (Durian) we named it Sarah Samuel, 45 years old, female. The results came back inconclusive. When we took samples from a Pawpaw we named it Elizabeth Ane, 26 years old, female. The result from the Pawpaw came back positive that it has corona. That means the liquid from a pawpaw is positive. We took samples from (a bird) called Kware. The results came back positive. We took samples from a rabbit. The results came back undeterminent. We took samples from a goat and the results came back positive. We took samples from a sheep and it came back negative and so on and so on. And so now you see this you have taken samples and the results come back positive and they have the corona. That means all the pawpaws should be in isolation also… The goat should be in isolation also. “

What you think doesn’t matter cause you clearly don’t understand simple science. You antibodies are built up from what do you think? Having the disease you jackass. Is a coronavirus a living organism? No dipshit. It’s just bit of dna and stranded proteins in combination.
Once you get COVID you will always have the dna and the proteins combination in your system as well as the developed antibodies. Until you die, and even after you die that specific combination of genetic material will forever be encoded in the antibodies you carry. In a small percentage of of the population, about 1-3 percent that will allow for a resurgence of COVID.

A couple simple examples you are probably personally familiar with chickenpox and shingles.
Or in your case genital herpes. With you for life, and something that personally affects you.

Mad Trapper
Mad Trapper
Reply to  RN

I call BS on this! Did you take microbiology/biochemistry?

Antibodies recognize a specific molecule as an antigen. Those are usually proteins, lipo-proteins, and combinations of polysaccharides, proteins, lipids. They also recognize DNA/RNA but to imply the entire virus genome is in antibodies is ludicrous.

Some viruses/pathogens do lie dormant in certain cells/tissues. Chicken Pox is one virus, lyme bacteria and TB bacteria others. In the case of viruses, the genetic sequences of the pathogen may be integrated into a living cell, that the virus lie dormant in.

Democrats are also putting too much emphasis on tests as being the only solution for getting everyone back to work. It’s a huge lie because testing would have to be done every few days for it to be effective in keeping the virus out of the workplace. That isn’t realistic. The far left began this competition between our country and other countries saying they were doing better than us on testing then having the nerve yesterday to put down President Trump for saying we have performed more tests than any other country. Cellular data showed over 500,00 people from neighboring states flocked to Georgia the first weekend they opened. Lying about what was going on with the Russia investigation saying that there was solid evidence against President Trump when they knew they had nothing. The media in this country has an agenda. They will not support anything that Attorney General Barr says and they could care less about the rule of law. The far left media is trying to protect Comey, Obama, and all the others involved in the Russia/Trump hoax. Now the far left media isn’t interested in holding communist China responsible for their handling of this virus and instead uses the virus to put down President Trump.

You treat Trump like the kid you gave up for adoption 70 years ago. You sound like his mommy making excuses for every tiny little thing he gets blamed for. He will never grow up if you keep pampering him Pat. Poor little Donnie poohbear.

Unrelated to this article but wanted to say I am so glad to see the charges dropped against Flynn. They never should have dragged him through the dirt. His New Yorker article realty said a lot about the kind of soldier he was – imperfect but a patriot and a decent guy and def not a traitor.

Dan, just suggesting that the next time you might have the opportunity to hold court with the Majesty Mayor Useless you could ask her when was the last time she took a car ride through Pittsfield. Although, you might have to remind her that she is the Mayor of the City and where the boundary lines are. Ask her if she realizes that there are so many pan handlers at every stop light in the City. I am finding it very unnerving to be stopped at a light and having these folks staring in my car, even with doors locked. Then again maybe that is why a majority of drivers blow through the red lights. Ask her if she has noticed the garbage strewed streets, the broken and missing traffic signage, the prostitutes and right out in public drug deals, especially on her new vibrant dynamic Tyler Street. Drove down North Street yesterday and there were 3 different ambulances tending to homeless folks lying on the streets. Mayor Useless will once again get what she wants tonight when the illustrious idiotic CC votes for her latest request for our money. So as long as she gets what she wants, forget the rest of us and the condition of the City she is suppose to be the head of. Maybe we should call her Mayor Clueless instead.

This has been going on for decades. The City Council is a puppet run entity just like all the previous ones. I want the monies earmarked for the schools not be speeded and savings there-in,to revert in any form back to the tax payer.

The panhandlers are looking to open a business here named “A Drop In The Bucket “.They are going to be renting a space on North St. for headquarters and everything is contingent on if they can get a tax break for opening, help for rent from the mayors Covid -19 fund, any grants available from the local, state or feds, a low interest loan that might not even have to be paid back. Drop In The Bucket plans on being a non profit which will start with 15-20 panhandlers already here doing it and add more as they come into the area from the surrounding areas as Covid-19 patients. I’m sure I missed some, but please add on to my post…

Just left the Stop & Shop on Dan Fox Drive. They now have a security guard there because of the Corin!9 patients being brought in from Boston, Worcester and Springfield and placed in the hotel behind the store. Thanks so much Gov. Baker and Mayor Useless for adding to the blight of Pittsfield. You really care about the taxpayers don’t you? Good post Johnny.

is there a footpath, or a shortcut, from the hotel to Stop and Shop? Stop and Shop, Guido’s, and Price Chopper were great because there was no white trash.

There are cities in India that have less garbage than mayor Tyers city. I heard all of our sister cities want out of the relationship due to the embarrassment the association is causing them.

So they can reopen sooner. Just like Albany county.

I agree with him. Continue hard restrictions on nursing homes in terms of visitations and let the rest of society get back to putting food on the table. Most people aren’t advocating for Fenway to open, they simply would like to open their small business while adhering to the guidelines.

Watched the hearings on corona virus today with CDC officials. What a joke. The clueless Democratic senators asking questions with lead-ins like, “This country did this, that country did that”. Gee, I thought the far left didn’t want to compare our country to other countries. Is this a competition as one of their brilliant reporters asked the president yesterday. The far left news media continually wants to compare our country to other countries and only if their heroes, Obama, Bernie or some other far left Democrat, was in office would the far left Senators be happy with the response of this country to the pandemic. The CDC is the one in charge of testing and any lack in that area is clearly their fault and NOT the fault of President Trump. Fauci said kids can and should go back to school in the fall without the availability of a vaccine or treatments. Some Democrat Senator sitting in her fancy house collecting her big salary said at the end that we are a long way from being where we should be and we need to be working hard at this. I’m sure she will run for an ice cream trip to her freezer just like Nancy Pelosi as soon as she can so they don’t seem to be working too hard.

You mean the same Christian Right voters that those you mentioned did seek the votes of at onetime or another for themselves? I guess as long as they vote for a certain party they will be ok.

In our latest episode of Justice for Criminals. Why not just roll the dice in Berkshire County?
Man arrested in Great Barrington heroin bust was out on bail for other drug charges in Pittsfield
Posted Tuesday, May 12, 2020 2:24 pm

By Heather Bellow, The Berkshire Eagle
GREAT BARRINGTON — A Housatonic man arrested last week for allegedly possessing more than 700 bags of heroin was out on bail for another set of drug charges for which he is still awaiting trial in Pittsfield.

In addition to facing these new charges filed in Southern Berkshire District Court, Ryan Babcock, 34, is also facing multiple charges in Central Berkshire District Court alleging possession and intent to distribute narcotics and prescription pills.

His next pretrial date in Pittsfield is scheduled for July 9.

At his further arraignment Friday by teleconference in Southern Berkshire District Court, Judge William Rota revoked his bail and ordered Babcock held without bail for 90 days at the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction on the earlier charges from last summer.

Rota set Babcock’s first pretrial hearing for June 4 in Southern Berkshire District Court.

Great Barrington police officers spotted him driving Main Street the morning of May 5, knowing his license had been previously revoked.

Police say they eventually found Babcock in possession of 748 bags of heroin, as well as cocaine, marijuana prescription drugs and $2,700 in cash, according to town Police Chief William Walsh.

In 2013, Babcock was accused of assaulting police officers when they responded to a domestic dispute between he and his girlfriend.

Three years later, he filed a federal civil suit against several parties including the town for alleged use of excessive force by town police during that arrest. The case against one police officer was settled out of court last year.

For the 2013 incident, Babcock was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, and several drug possession and distribution charges. Some of the charges were later dropped as part of a plea deal, and he was sentenced to three to four years in the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.

Babcock was caught in a summer 2004 drug sweep in Great Barrington that resulted in multiple drug charges leading to a four- to six-year prison sentence. He had previously been sentenced to four to six years in prison on charges of selling cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and selling drugs in a drug-free school zone after

For this most recent arrest, Babcock is facing multiple charges of possession of Class A through E substances with intent to distribute, and operation of a motor vehicle with a revoked license.

Council must not appropriate any more give outs to any business. The criteria mainly is to hire people? Corona will be here through the fall to winter. Won’t be able to meet the criteria.

Maybe Marchetti should find out why his crock of squares has an audio problem before they go on air. Personally they’re messing with Connell. I didn’t know a little about computers and digital chatting.

I think the model of the t I f for this brew business is currently against the make up of the t I f itself. The unknown is a very good reason not to give a beer establishment any money. How can they guarantee employment for one?
