LEFT’s RUSH TO CANONIZE GINSBERG IRRATIONAL … FIGHT FOR HER REPLACEMENT KEY ISSUE AMONG CATHOLICS

BY DAN VALENTI

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY SEPT. 23, 2020) — THE PLANET, while quick to acknowledge the late Ruth Ginsberg’s achievement in the field of law, can’t help but wonder about the overreaction to her death. The adulation of the young and woke masses reflects one simple phenomenon, that has, despite its advantages, set back virtually every aspect of rational public life, especially our ability to resolve through debate and discussion issues upon which we as Americans disagree.

THE PLANET refers to the internet, particularly, social media, the destroyer of public institutions by giving people a powerful technology beyond their ability to maturely handle. Ginsberg’s hagiography and elevation to sainthood occurred solely because of her rise as an internet and pop culture sensation.

The Boomers, millennials, Gen-Xers, and younger — to the extent that they are paying attention at all — conveniently ignore the fullness of Ginsberg’s time on the bench.

  • The justice didn’t hire a black law clerk until 2016.
  • When San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick took a knee, Ginsberg called him “dumb” and “disrespectful.”
  • This minted icon for women’s rights and inclusion had a lifetime sinecure on the Supreme Court, the world’s most exclusive and elite institution, largely older and white. She had no problem practicing  what THE PLANET sees as Ginsbergian democracy, the kind favored by white, upper-class women and soccer moms.

So stop already with the goo. Ginsberg served, she served well, but she also brilliantly self-served, the fate of most office holders who enjoy lifetime security by virtue of law or lack of term limits.

Her death, of course, has taken the already-bizarre presidential race and thrown it into the Vita-Mix blender set on “high.” President Trump said he will name the proposed successor to Ginsberg’s seat on Saturday. Democrats are in an uproar, the same temperamentalists who had no problem launching impeachment proceedings during an election year. True, both parties have been hypocritical in their stances on filling empty court seats. The political party du jour wants to fill the seat ASAP or not depending on whose sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office.

One of the most interesting aspects of Trump’s nominee and her effect on Nov. 3 (and she WILL be a woman, a hot commodity in today’s politics, regardless of how accomplished or inept) will be how the Catholic voting bloc reacts. Catholics, the largest religious institution in the U.S., could provide the pivotal swing vote for or against. Virtually all Catholic couples practice birth control against Rome’s official policy, but the voting bloc is split over abortion. Progressive Catholics favor a women’s right to choose. More traditional Catholics hold the baby’s life as sacred.

Joe Biden, trying to become only the second Catholic to win the presidency, makes much of his faith. In June 2019, when Biden had yet to win anything, he was the only Democratic presidential candidate to back the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funding of abortion. Less than 48 hours, however, Uncle Joe flipped. Now, he favors its repeal. In plain English, he thinks Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski should pay for a woman’s abortion.

That’s flat wrong and will be deal breaker for the majority of Catholics.

The division on this issue couldn’t be starker: The left wants abortion on demand, no parental notification, with taxpayers footing the bill. The right wants more help for pregnant women. The left solves the problem of preggers by killing the baby, using abortion as a form of retroactive birth control. No baby, no problem. The right places the baby’s life above all else.

With so many options and such ease of availability for birth control, unwanted pregnancies do not have to occur. Ignorance, however, rules this day, and the unwanted will happen.

The right is right. The creation of human life cannot continue as trivial.

How this plays out among Catholics could decide the swing states.

It’s that big.

Catholic conservatives, similar to Trump himself, only practice “Moral Hypocrisy”. Catholic Priests have a long history of sexual deviancy and double standards. The old joke about Catholic indoctrination dogma is: “Some for me, Nun for you”. Abortion in politics is nothing more than a wedge issue meant to divide voters. Politicians don’t care about Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski’s reproductive decisions, but rather they like to get the proverbial Kapanski family all riled up about abortion to get their vote. If abortion versus adoption were really important, then our country would do more to provide a middle class lifestyle to our nation’s huge underclass. Instead, politicians give all of the country’s wealth to Wall Street and the billionaires who run the show. In closing, I wish we all lived in a perfect World where we all lived in middle class or above healthy families that cared about children, but that is as real as Santa Claus, Unicorns, and winning the Powerball jackpot.

I would rather talk about Rush Limbaugh getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I do not see an American who is more qualified to take the empty seat on the Supreme Court. While he is not a woman he has been married four times so he knows how they feel and what they need from a justice and a man.
Gingsburg leaned left and that pretty much disqualfies her as a decent human being and even though at times she appeared to care about the law we know her term was all a hoax and liberal plot to undermine the constituion. The truth is that until all nine justices are right leaners the Supreme Court will be looked upon with suspicion.

The far left is trying to influence voters everyday on social media, in person, and by phone. I regularly have my cell phone bombarded with pro Joe Biden messages every other day it seems. They leave like 34 messages all at once. They are also using the mail-in ballots to create chaos on election day.

The pro-life issue is a powerful one as is nominating someone to the Supreme Court so these are powerful motivators to get people to the polls to vote for President Trump especially people who may have been undecided voters. Watching people like Kamala Harris put down religion and advocating their frightening views on abortion in front of the entire country during nomination hearings will not help the far left with a big majority of the public.

“Catholics” are not an “institution,” but the Catholic Church is.

How any Catholic can vote for a pro-abortion candidate has always been beyond me.

I think the patina will wear off RBG once the minions realize that she royally screwed up in not retiring in 2013, at the latest, which a few in here have already mentioned. And thus she has screwed her own peeps.

The story that has yet to be told is how Planned Parenthood, NARAL, NOW, et al. have taken over the Dimorat Party. All kinds of Dems used to be pro-life, from Clinton to Gore, to Gephardt to Biden to Teddy. Cash is king and determines morals, I guess.

My hunch is that is how and wherefore Mr. Obama emerged out of nowhere (another untold story), to the point where he helped force into law the sanction on infanticide as an Illinois state senator.

Let’s be clear: infanticide is the killing of an infant, that is, AFTER birth.

Abortion is the killing of a fetus, BEFORE birth.

So Obama extended the pro-abortion logic: all that matters is the intention of the mother. If she wants the child to live, it does; if not, it does not.

Thus babies surviving abortion attempts and born alive, intact even, are left to die simply because of the intention of the mother.

Nice folks.

P.S. That insightful Tucker Carlson last night had extra video of the Kyle Rittenhouse episode in Kenosha (gives new meaning to the “Kenosha Kickers”). Very good chance the kid will win in a walk.

And the absolute POS that were attacking him–convicted felons, a child molester, a strangler and suffocator??!?!?, and other scum of the earth.

Also nice folks.

I doubt you could be an honest catholic and vote for Trump. I mean — divorce isn’t even considered valid in the Catholic Church. Plus, greed is generally frowned upon – the whole eye of the needle and the camel and all. The Pope hates Trump. I agree with JM – it’s all hypocrisy. All religion is hypocrisy even if we strongly value the tenets. I don’t think Trump shows a real respect for life – he just manipulates types that use their purported religion to feel better than others.

You are probably right. But I hate to tell you Jesus was another one of those a socialist carpenters.
So many Catholic sects denounce material goods and go to serve the poor – it’s ingrained in the faith.
An evangelical is much more comfortable with their wealth – it’s a Calvinistic exterior expression of their interior goodness. We Catholics just get the guilt.

Dan, I’d be interested in the data backing up yous statements on Catholics and abortion. I think a large number of Catholics support access to abortion, just as they support contraception and divorce, despite the teachings of the institution. Everyone is against abortion…..until they or their kid gets knocked up
The last thing this planet needs is more unwanted babies born to mothers who have no idea how to care for them or do not have the means. They are probably the single most expense on welfare. There are probably one million mothers on welfare because they had an unplanned pregnancy and the right hates the socialism that provides for them. So why are they against abortion? I don’t believe the God thing at all.

I wonder why there so many immigrants accepted into the US and Europe.

Could it be that these countries have aborted half of their future citizens?

I agree that disrespect for any life leads to all sorts of evil. We have already gone from allowing abortion up to 3 months to now allowing murder of the baby after it is removed from the womb after 9 months if the mother doesn’t want the baby. That is infanticide.

I tend to agree. I don’t feel like the people who are get amped up about it want to support single moms. They are usually very uncharitable towards poor people. The abortion rates in the US and Europe are much lower than in the developing world which means I guess economics is a big factor. I have no doubt Trump has encourage several women to have abortions. I know he was at a Pro Choice rally with HRC. It’s all hypocrisy.

As a Catholic, I support a woman’s right to choice. Why? It’s none of my f-ing business. I also like Barrett if that’s the choice, but I don’t support either conservatives or liberals. In fact, there are many days I question why I’m even a Catholic. Frankly, I think both conservatives and liberals on far right or far left, and all their supporters are a total bunch of assholes. What has extreme positions accomplished? Not a damn thing. Someone always suffers. It’s long past due that they meet in the middle, each give up something, and do thinks that benefit the vast (like 95+% of us) and not just a minority of Americans.

I also think that every position in government including judges should have term limits. When the Founding Fathers put this thing together, government work was supposed to be pretty much voluntary with a stipend for expenses, little time meeting, and hauling your fanny home to run whatever it is you did to make a life. Not this crap.

And while I’m complaining, what good has social media, cellphones, any of this done for us? We’re all extremists in some way. Well, I’m done. My cellphone sits on its charger and I’m going into the basement to find something to do.

Sorry but you cannot support a woman’s right to choose an abortion “as a Catholic,” as an apostate maybe, but not “as a Catholic.”

How about her choice to throw her newborn in the dumpster?

“The supremacy of an informed and well-formed conscience” means what? Sounds like weak-kneed, liberal Catholicism to me. It is the kind of vessel you can throw anything into and call it what you want. Sounds like Abraham Maslow.

How about the supremacy of scripture, tradition, and magisterium?

Catechism of the Catholic Church:

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. “A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae,” “by the very commission of the offense,” and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

Please, the Catholic Church lost all of its right to a moral authority when it allowed thousands of children to be sexually abused at the hands of priests who were then shuffled around from parish to parish to avoid lawful consequences, and then initiated a cover-up that would make Nixon’s Plumbers blush.

Pedophile scandal is bad, really bad. I have some inventive punishments in mind for the offenders and protectors, such as POS Cardinal Law.

But that does not mean that the teachings of the Catholic Church are invalid.

Logic would be this: Some priests were bad actors, the Church did not handle it well, ergo, abortion is OK, or pick the teaching you wish to flout.

You’re also apparently excusing centuries of other bad acts… the Crusades… the Spanish Inquisition… silence while Hitler and Mussolini murdered millions… that wasn’t ‘some priests,’ nor was the cover-up of the sex scandals. The highest on high in the church knew and did nothing to stop it, while essentially ‘rewarding’ those like Cardinal Law with a cushy end-of-life-and-career at the Vatican. The teachings of the Catholic Church do not match what its own ethics are.

God is not the church. Churches, like anything else, can become corrupt because they are run by humans. God’s teachings stand on their own with or without the church and that is where so many people get confused. Good churches will teach and follow the true word of God, but not all churches are good, but that doesn’t mean throwing out the word of God because of corruption in the church.

Silence, my ass–you are ill-informed on that topic, my friend.

I’m only sad that the Crusades didn’t ultimately succeed.

I believe I have ycleped Cardinal Law a POS.

My proposed punishment for the pedophile priests and their knowing superiors is this:

String them up by their genitals along Bernini’s colonnade in Piazza San Pietro in Rome.

“Any Catholic accomplice in the act of procuring an abortion, even though not specifically mentioned in Canon #1398, receives the same penalty of automatic excommunication. Here an accomplice is one who assists in such a way that the heinous act would not have been committed without his assistance. Therefore, the doctor who performs the abortion, the nurse who assists in the procedure, the boyfriend who encourages the abortion, and the parent who pays for the abortion — all are accomplices, guilty of the act, and thereby receive the just penalty. (See Code of Canon Law, #1329.2.)”

It is perplexing that some want to protect the birth of the baby but much less concerned about it afterward. Are these same people as concernd about ethnic babies as they are white babies? Are they concerned about children starving in Ethiopia? Or immigrant children being held in camps separated from their parents?
Is the abortion controversy in America about the baby at all or is it about political parties getting their way?

Re: US Congress will take the month of October 2020 off during the flu season and COVID-19 pandemic

If there is a time when We the People need U.S. Congress to be in session, it is next month – October of 2020 – when the flu season and COVID-19 pandemic hits us all hard on many socioeconomic levels. However, I just read a CNN news story that U.S. Congress, similar to Beacon Hill’s State Legislature, has yet passed a fiscal year 2021 budget, will take the month of October 2020 off when the American People need our elected officials the most. The U.S. Senate will only return next month to confirm a yet to be named Catholic Woman nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court, which would make 7 Catholics and 2 Jewish Supreme Court Justices. The Republican Party would have 6 conservative Supreme Court Justices, while the Democrats would have 3 in their corner. U.S. President Donald Trump said today that he will not pledge a peaceful transfer of Executive Power if Joe Biden wins the 2020 presidential election. Trump plans to litigate the 2020 presidential election in the U.S. Supreme Court, where he has a partisan advantage. U.S. Senate Majority Leader denied then U.S. President Barack Obama’s nominee Judge Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court 4 years ago in 2016, but now he is moving quickly to get Trump’s yet to be named nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed before the November 3rd, 2020, presidential election. In closing, I believe that our country’s politicians have failed We the People!

Not one word, not one word on Hunter Biden in the Eagle today. Eric Trump, but no Hunter Biden.

Smokescreen.

$3.5 million wire transfer to Hunter from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow?

Matt Damon doll, NOW is the time to scream PUTIN!

Money to prostitutes?

Ukraine, Russian, China. Um, who is colluding with whom again?

Trump asks the president of Ukraine to investigate the Bidens, and he’s impeached??!?!?

Smokescreen–behind which you’ll find the Wizard, one Barack Hussein Obama. But, you can’t touch this.

And we have BLM POS sympathizers in here cheering for the death of cops?

Nice.

You really think suffering thru a life of pain & misery & unmet needs is worse than murder ? Because you’re wrong. Life is full of pain it is unfortunate.

That would be traditional marrage, Dad and Mom with child in same home.

The left don’t like/support that sort of thing. They are teaching 4 year olds about having two mommies/daddies, as “normal”

Dozens more positive Covid cases.
Some are turning up in schools now open.
BHRSD sent the high school administrative staff home.
Newspaper is refusing to report school cases unless it’s a private school.
Schools aren’t releasing info to parents or the public, they are quietly trying to trace but aren’t doing a good enough job because they don’t want to alarm parents and have them pull their kids.

Riley is a tool. He wants the Berkshires to open based on cases, doesn’t get the hospital is poorly equipped.

What medical system screwed up hundreds of tests to the point that they weren’t viable and people were told they were negative?
What medical system still refuses to do universal testing? But will test bums for free?

I do not trust the city fathers to be open and honest about the virus as they have not been open and honest about anything else. People had better take the matter serious because when they do find out the real situation it may be too late for them. Protect yourself and do not be careless.
Our mayor hid the names of the business s she gave our taxpayer money to for six months and I sure as hell don’t trust her covid numbers or talks.

Sorry, can you fill me in on the meaning of LEO?

Mad Trapper

Generic local/state/federal, Law Enforcement Officer, aka “the Cops”.

The left is OK with defunding and shooting them. Some D-cities want to eliminate them entirely. They want to have “counselors” instead of LEO. Andrea Harrington could elaborate on that. She is a SJW, aka Social Justice Warrior.

The rioters/cop shooters are BLM/Antifa that can be traced back to DNC and Soros for funding. The riots in Louisville yesterday were organized by the above. One is a prominet Anti-Semetic Democrat, seen and recorded at all of this weeks riots. They trucked in rioter suppiles (documented) in U-Haul trucks.

They should ALL be up on Federal RICO charges, but the FBI is still trying hide stuff it contrived to frame President Trump, and in the lefts pocket.

Why are you so worried about Biden? Trump is not going to honor some stupid old election if it does not go his way. He ain’t leaving no matter what and even having an election is a waste of time and money.

What ? Vote for a klan of crooks? Soteros, Clintons, Bidens,…….

Last election, was a waste of America’s time as the Leftists (they are NOT Democrats anymore) planned on winning, and when they failed miserably, used dirty politics to stifle any progress that could America could make. 4 years ongoing today!

Those bassturds are still at it, and have turned TO FUNDING RIOTS!!!

Yup, BLM funds go through “Act Blue”, the DNC itself!!!

So YOU are O.K. with Burn Loot Mayhem/Murder, defunding and shooting LEO, erasing USA history, indoctrination of school children,……

I have been labeled “deplorable”, but YOU and your ilk are DESPICABLE!

They are funding riots as the u-haul that we all saw has proved. The U-haul was loaded with their signs, weapons, and anything else they needed to create chaos. These Marxists are useful idiots being used by these rich powerful Democrats to create chaos in the streets and the far left will use them and then get rid of them in the end. This is why the far left district attorneys were so necessary in these cities so they wouldn’t prosecute these paid rioters so they could continue to disrupt.

Hillary is ordering Joe on tape, “Do not concede this election under any circumstances”. Hillary is part of this wealthy radical group of Dems who wants to flip this country just like she and our state department have done in other countries under Civil Society 2.0. They have done this before and now they want to destroy our country in preparation for one world government.

Does Trump have that charm? We will probably find out because if he does not win the election he is gonna be one pissed off man.

Now it is DNC out of control, to get TOTAL control.

Who you going to call when all the cops are gone, Johnny? BLM? Antifa?

I’m going to disagree with at least the title of the your post. RBG was a superb advocate of those who had her views. I suspect, this is why she and Scalia were such good friends. They were like two elite athletes who pushed each other into better arguments. Neither would have written either dissents or opinions that are so widely regarded if they didn’t have the other person in mind. They realized they could not afford any sloppy think, any slips in logic or missing facts otherwise their friend would pounce on it. Nobody else on the court had the ability to challenge them so they became close friends and ardent opponents. We may never see this again and we are poorer for it. RGB deserves much of the praise she is getting. If she had lived she may have inspired newer judges to better legal arguments. We are worse off because she died. Godspeed RGB..

Good analogy, is Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Rivals, but friends too.

I never knew Scalia and Ginsburg were good buddies until SHE passed. Never heard about it when Antonin did.
