PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE ‘No. 1:’ WHO WON? WHY? AND WHO STEPPED IN ‘No. 2?’

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY SEPT. 30, 2020) — The best part of last night’s first presidential debate wasn’t even there.

THE PLANET refers the silent, socially-distanced, audience.

Who won last night?

The audience.

The spectators at the Cleveland Clinic at Case Western University remained quiet, a remarkable achievement no meant no cheering sections or hit squads. How refreshing not to see those dunderheads spoil another of these silly events. Instead, they left that up to the two contestants to gum it up. Poor Chris Wallace.

The funniest part of last night’s slugfest also wasn’t there for the debate itself. It was how the two teams sent their flacks into the horde of media afterward to say why their guy won. Trump’s team said the president took Biden to the low post and did a Spud Webb on him. Biden’s people said Joe pulled a Bill Russell, blocked the shot, and took it to the hoop the other way.

The truth could not be found in the middle but on the extreme right and left. It wasn’t truth of any moral of ethical kind but political “truth,” which always puts the word in quotes. True that both sides ignored reality. True that each tried to paint an abstract on a canvas improperly prepared. True that while such debates usually don’t decide much, we are in unchartered waters with no map or navigational equipment.

How important was the debate? Time will tell. It drew a huge TV audience, and it will likely be the biggest joint exposure the candidates get. It will be interesting to check the polls later this week, not that THE PLANET puts much credence in such exercises of prophetic self-fulfillment. That said, a poll of polls shows Trump gaining, reducing Biden’s lead from double digits earlier this summer to mid-singles. Our guess is that the race is even, especially given that Trump’s “secret voters” are drastically underrepresented in any polling.

People talk about “the women’s vote,” “the black vote,” “the this-and-that vote,” but the subgroup that will likely determine the election will be the President’s supporters who will keep quiet and uncounted until Election Day. In battleground states, Trump supporters tend to lay low because of intimidation tactics from the far left. Ironically, such bag jobs tend to backfire, which is why the Democrats are so worried about the behavior of extremists in major cities, those committing domestic terror and calling it “protest.” This could be a huge (+) issue for the President and drive voters to buy his “Law and Order” pledge.

Funniest moment for THE PLANET? When Trump pounced on Biden’s annoying habit of “That’s No. 1. No. 2 …” by saying “No, Joe. You’re No. 2.” Reminds us of the Rodney Dangerfield advice: “Always look out for No. 1, but while you’re doing it don’t step in No. 2.”

Here in the Bay State, the election doesn’t matter. It is Biden all the way. Elsewhere, the red and blues are readily identified. The swings states will likely be Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

That’s where we’ll likely see the most campaigning ever the final five weeks.

THE PLANET welcomes your thoughts on last night’s debate: Who won?

Why?

President Trump won. Biden took the debate very low early on by name calling. Biden called President Trump a “clown” and a “racist” with no shout down from Wallace to keep it civil. Was that intentional to get President Trump mad at Joe right away? I think Wallace wanted a mud fight too because despite his pretend confusion over what was happening, he did little to take control. I wanted to know about Biden’s Green New Deal position, but learned nothing about it accept a confused answer that he had his own version of the Green New Deal? What it was was never followed up by Chris Wallace and seemed like just a dodge of the question by Biden. So just more confusion. More proof that the Democrats didn’t want to give any specifics on their plans and didn’t have to by making it a shouting match. Wallace had an odd way of asking questions like the mail-in ballot issue where he asks Biden to address problems with it, but then adds that is it possible that the Supreme Court nominee was being chosen to address any confusion on election day. So naturally Biden ignored the first part of the question and just attacked the Supreme Court nominee decision by President Trump and Wallace just let him.

Biden = 47 years as a career politician who has accomplished nothing whatsoever, and his solution is to grow the already excessively large bureaucratic federal government at the expense of the shrinking middle class in post industrial America.
Trump = Refuses to make his tax returns public, and did not denounce his horrible statement that the neo Nazi’s and similar white supremacist groups were “very fine people (on both sides)” after the violent hate march in Charlottesville, Virginia that killed a young woman fighting evil for Human and Civil Rights.
Dan Valenti, I believe that neither candidate won the first 2020 presidential debate.

Marxist Melle,
You need to turn off CNN. CNN falsely claimed that Trump refuses to to call out white supremacists. He did. When asked by Wallace to condemn them, falsely implying that he had not done so previously, Trump said “sure.” When Wallace asked if Trump would ask white supremacists & paramilitary groups to stand down Trump said “I’m willing to do that.”
You’ve been brainwashed by CNN and your antifa group.

To quote an observation I heard made; “It wasn’t so much that Biden won as much as Trump lost”. Biden was okay, nothing overly memorable one way or another. The bar was set low and he had no problems. Trump on the hand was a mess. No restraint and lacked control. Nothing “Presidential” about that performance. God, I miss the old days when people would actually let someone answer a question instead of just talking over the other guy. Poor Mike Wallace had no control.

That being said, will it make difference? Doubtful. If Biden blew up I think it could have made a difference. As for Trump, his base is firm and I can’t imagine there are too many people are undecided at this point.

You’re right jon. Trump didn’t have the sense to let Biden get his mumbled and jumbled points across without interruption. Had he done so, Biden would have stumbled and fumbled much more than he did in the debate.

I would actually agree with that. From a strategic standpoint, Trump should have let Biden speak uninterrupted as much as possible to give Biden the opportunity to put his foot in his mouth, But instead, trying to tell what either of them were saying was almost impossible. Trump’s strategy was to keep interrupting to throw Biden of his game but it didn’t work and only made Trump look bad.

A pissing contest, with the real loser being the moderator, Chris Wallace.

Wallace allowed the debate to degenerate into chaos with at times, 3 people shouting over each other. The moderator also entered into the debate rather than just moderating.

I was not impressed with either candidate.

You are blaming Wallace? What was he supposed to do? He is not allowed by the rules to put Gorilla tape over Trumps mouth and that is about the only thing that might have shut him up for a minute.
Trump did as I knew he would. He dodged the actual questions, continually tried to change the topic and continuously talked over his opponent.
As one host described it it was your ususal run of the mill Trump shitshow and nobody was a bit surprised by that. It is what he does.

Joe calling President Trump a clown and a racist early on and never stopped or called out for it, set the tone of the debate early on. I think Chris and Joe wanted the chaos because few specifics were given out by Biden on his agenda. Joe can shout easily, but he can’t speak rationally about his plans for the country. I thought his answers were very confusing.

The Obama-Biden administration spied on the 2016 Trump campaign and then instigated a failed coup attempt against the duly elected president before he even took office. Biden had no reply to the indefensible. I think President Trump has a lot of pent up anger toward Biden and who can blame him and last night he released some of that anger. Talking calmly and politely to a man who was trying to tear you down behind the scenes would be very difficult for anyone in my opinion.

Debate was great entertainment!
Wallace, a never-Trumper, let his bias show full force.
Sleepy Joe obviously received the debate questions in advance based on his scripted delivery. Biden looked like he had been embalmed. No energy. Lots of lies.
I thought Trump took Biden out to the woodshed and beat the snot out of him. Loved Trump bringing up Hunter multiple times, blasting him for taking Moscow money which seemed to catch Biden off guard. Trump got Biden to say that he did NOT support the New Green Deal but supports the “Biden” deal, which IS the new green deal!
Can’t wait for the next debate!

Sometimes CNN gets things right, TSC.

Hunter spent a whole month in the Navy Reserve, before dishonorable discharge, for drug abuse.

https://www.cnn.com/2014/10/16/politics/hunter-biden-discharged-from-navy/index.html

Biden was commissioned as an ensign in May 2013 and assigned as a public affairs officer in a Norfolk, Virginia-based reserve unit. A month later, he tested positive for cocaine, and he was discharged in February, according to the report.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/10/trump-right-hunter-bidens-first-drug-bust-among-several-incidents-18-just-last-week-linked-russian-human-trafficking-ring/

Hunter Biden’s first arrest may have been when he was 18. Hunter was arrested on Jersey Shore related to drug charges in 1988 and had his record expunged.
Many years later and after several stops into drug treatment facilities Hunter joined his father the Vice President on a trip to China in 2013 where Hunter — inexperienced and out of place — was able to secure a $1.5 billion from China for private equity fund which he was forming at the time.
Advertisement – story continues below

A year later in early 2014 Hunter was discharged from the Navy for testing positive for cocaine.
Then in April 2014, just a couple months later, Hunter Biden Hunter joined the Board of Burisma Holdings in the Ukraine. Hunter served on the Board until early 2019. Hunter was paid approximately $50,000 a month in his position.

The largest oil and gas company in the Ukraine hired a chronic drug addict only a few months after the addict was removed from the US Navy for doing cocaine.
In 2016 Hunter Biden returned a rental car with a crack pipe with cocaine residue and a small amount of a white, powdery substance.
Advertisement – story continues below

A used crack pipe, credit cards, a Delaware Attorney General badge, US Secret Service business cards, two ID’s belonging to Hunter Biden, son of former VP Joe Biden were found in a Hertz rental car in Arizona.
A lab analysis of the crack pipe revealed it was used to smoke cocaine, not meth, however no fingerprints were found on the pipe.

And surprise, surprise, the County and City Attorney’s offices declined to prosecute Hunter Biden.
Hunter was never charged with a crime in this incident.
In 2018 Hunter fathered a child with a Washington DC stripper while he was dating his dead brother’s wife.

In 2018 the IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden seeking $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015.
And according to Page Six, Hunter Biden allegedly spent time at Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club in New York City in 2018. Hunter allegedly ordered pricey booze, was joined by several strippers in a private room while he did drugs and had strippers run to find him a dildo.
Last week Hunter Biden was tied to a human trafficking ring with women who appear to be involved in the sex industry, including non-resident alien women in the US who are citizens of Russia or Ukraine.
You won’t see this information in the media because they are working overtime to prop up senile Joe Biden as president.

Senate report on Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Ukraine–and the Bidens, especially Joke–is important because it gives the lie to things like the blurb in today’s Eagle on Marie Yovanovitch, US ambassador to Ukraine 2016-2019.

“Yovanovitch was recalled from Kyiv as Giuliani pressed Ukranian officials to investigate BASELESS corruption allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden . . . and his son Hunter.”

From the Senate report:

“More than one year after Kent reported his concerns about Hunter Biden to the vice president’s office, he once again raised the issue this time to his superiors at the State Department.

On Sept. 6, 2016, Kent wrote an email to senior State Department officials, including Deputy Assistant Secretary Bridget Brink and U.S. Ambassador Marie YOVANOVITCH, and offered his contemporaneous view of Hunter Biden’s association with Burisma.

Kent wrote, ‘the presence of Hunter Biden on the Burisma board was very awkward for all U.S. officials pushing an ANTI-CORRUPTION agenda in Ukraine.’

In testimony Kent expanded on this comment:

I meant that people who talk the talk need to walk the walk, and
for the U.S. government, collectively, when we talk about the need
to have high standards of integrity, again, as I’ve said, the presence
of [Hunter Biden] on the board created the perception of a
potential conflict of interest.

So it was the OBAMA admin that was supposedly interested in anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.

In fact, there was nothing BUT corruption going on with Joe, Hunter, and very corrupt oligarchs and the very corrupt, and known corrupt, Burisma.

Bidens are very, very corrupt.

And then there’s China . . .

Peter Schweizer needs to follow up to his “Clinton Cash” book with a new one titled “Biden Bucks.” Or maybe be already has:

I agree and how could President Trump possibly be charming, kind, and polite to a person like Joe Biden. President Trump can be all of those things and also have a great sense of humor, but Joe Biden is not only a political opponent, but he is also one of the people who has been trying to tear down this president since 2016 while Joe’s own past is so shady and the media just hides it. President Trump’s votes are being found in streams and fields and he is just going to act like everything is great? He has every right to rail against what has been going on and what is currently going on with the swamp creatures in Washington.

Letter from DNI to Senator Graham

Chairman Graham,

SEP 2 9 2020

In response to your request for Intelligence Community (IC) information related to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Crossfire Hurricane Investigation, I have declassified the following:

• In late July 2016, U.S. intelligence agencies obtained insight into Russian intelligence analysis alleging that U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump by tying him to Putin and the Russians’ hacking of the Democratic National Committee. The IC does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication.

• According to his handwritten notes, former Central Intelligence Agency Director Brennan subsequently briefed President Obama and other senior national security officials on the intelligence, including the “alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.”

• On 07 September 2016, U.S. intelligence officials forwarded an investigative referral to FBI Director James Comey and Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok regarding “U.S. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private mail server.”

Upshot: Hilary and her minions cooked up the hoax and wasted millions and two years of our time on a total lie to explain why she lost.

I couldn’t watch straight through because Joe looked embalmed. It was painful. He had his eyes closed and head bowed low whenever he wasn’t talking. (What was he doing? Did he not have the strength to hold his head up? Is this how he’d interface with world leaders?) We simply can’t have a weak, almost dead, low IQ, delusional, senile old goat leading this country.

What if you had just turned your head sideways so you could not see the Tv?
And your last comment about Trump was disloyal and unAmerican. Wow, Pat is not going to like that one.

Kathleen,
Biden was wiring a wire. He had his eyes closed & head bowed, trying to focus on the info he was being fed. Trump knew that, based on Biden’s refusal to be checked for an earpiece & wires. I theorize that’s why Trump kept interrupting Biden & distracting him.
No wonder Biden shouted “shut up!”

Joe Biden, the LochNess monster of swamp creatures, liar & plagiarizer.

September 30, 2020

My native hometown of Pittsfield (Mass.) is once again being exhibited – this time in Beverly Hills (Cali.) – as an American small town in decay. I was born and raised in Pittsfield, which was a GE town that GE abandoned when I was a teenage student at Pittsfield High School in 1990. 30 years later, there are no GE jobs left in Pittsfield. What is left is post industrial America where Yale Professor and Great Barrington (Mass.) Gregory Crewdson resident shows Pittsfield in large photo prints to wealthy museum visitors in London, NYC, and L.A. I don’t know how I feel about all of this because I have an emotional attachment to Pittsfield. I understand the point Gregory Crewdson is making, but it also upsets me. I am happy I don’t live in Pittsfield anymore because it is has a lot of socioeconomic problems, as well as entrenched and corrupt state and local politicians. But I also hope that Pittsfield will someday get out of the proverbial ditch and at least do better for the marginalized people who still live there.

Who won? Look for the answer in crowd sizes at rallies following the debate. Ten-thousand (maybe more) attending Trump’s rally the next day at a Duluth airport. Compared to a couple hundred (if that) at whistlestops as the Biden train treks across Ohio and Pennsylvania. (Or is this low-energy slog more aptly titled Biden’s ‘trainwreck’?)

That’s what MSNBC and CNN are saying because they don’t want Joe on public view anymore than they have to do so. The stakes are very high for this election with two very different world views. If tempers flare during the debate, it’s a reflection of what the country is going through right now. There should have been a rebuttal period so each person has a chance to respond to the other person and didn’t feel the need to talk over the other person. Wallace didn’t do that which was another failure on his part. The next debate will have a much needed rebuttal period.

I’m actually quite centric. I’ve voted for plenty of Republicans in my day and was even a campaign manager for one. But I’m not stupid enough to support the biggest huckster that ever entered the Oval Office. I vote for the person and the good of the country, not the party line. And the republican party as we knew it is now dead. When Trump is gone. all these republicans in office will try to redeem themselves, but the devil doesn’t return your soul.

And he shouldn’t stop them. Let them vent. And the rest of us should keep bringing them back to reality. GE is gone, middle class jobs that merely required a high school diploma – gone, competition for good jobs not just from other ‘Mericans but from WOMEN and from immigrants and from those living outside the USA. World is changing rapidly and Trump knows that if he exploits nostalgia for manufacturing jobs and coal mining he’ll get some votes – but the reality is NONE of those are coming back. Wake UP! BTW, props to the poster who said Biden looked embalmed – that is absolutely the truth. Just embrace your age, Joe. A real face is better than an embalmed face is better than an orange face, (no disrespect to ‘Cuse, Dan) with a pelt on top.

When I first heard that Wallace would be the moderator I knew what to expect. And I was correct. If you have ever watched his weekly TV program, you know how much he dislikes Trump.

Mad Trapper (earlier) was right when he said “Wallace entered the debate rather than moderating”. Bad decision by Fox!

Verdict on the debate, just in:

Biden won by TKO.

Both candidates insisted on punching themselves in the face repeatedly. Neither landed any punches on his opponent.

Trump and Biden both went to the canvas at the same time, but since Biden punched himself less, he was able to get up first.

Trump could have easily won if he would have allowed Biden to keep punching himself in the face, but the president insisted on repeatedly stopping Biden from doing this.

NPR announced today that twitter may have to shut down President Trump’s account after the election. The Left is already preparing us for their election tricks. They are having the media spread the lie that President Trump will not accept the election results when it was Hillary who told Biden to not accept the results under any circumstances. They are planning also to secede certain states if they do not get their way and to silence any voices that go against what the media will say are the true results after the election.

Yeah, let’s talk about local issues, such as the military helicopters at the airport seemingly almost every single day, like right now, and last night after dark. And every time you’re trying to enjoy a respite from the jets and jet fumes, or the idiots in their loud vehicles.

And what will we or any elected or appointed official–local, state, federal–do about it?

They won’t do dick.

Democracy is dead.
