It’s Super Bowl weekend.
You might expect us to get all serious with warnings about super spreader events, but you’d be wrong. THE PLANET believes in freedom and recognizes that the flip side will include a solipsism — not the philosophical kind — that will paint ignorance with luminous paint that won’t need a UV light for it to be seen. Only the blind shall remain sightless.

Folks, we will be seeing once-in-a millennia greatness when No. 12 takes the field. You know the story. Sixth-round draft pick, 199th in the 2000 NFL Draft. The New England Patriots, at coach Bill Belichick’s order, took the young, doughy Michigan grad to have a fourth QB in camp that year. A human “iron mike” pitching machine. An afterthought. Couldn’t start for his 0-13 high school team. Buried in the depth charts at Michigan. The underdog’s underdog.
Now he takes the field for his 10th Super Bowl appearance. He holds nearly every meaningful SB passing record. His 33-9 playoff record is tops all time. That’s a .786 winning % in the most pressure-packed games. Winningest QB in league history. More playoff wins than all but 5 franchises. Discounting his rookie year, when he threw all of four passes, and the 2008 season when he was lost for the year in the first quarter of the season opener, Brady’s taken his teams to the Super Bowl 10 times in 19 years. No franchise has won more Super Bowls than Brady.
Think about that. In a game many players never get a chance to play in, and to play in one is the most anyone dares dream, Brady has led his guys there every other year on average.

His 20 years in Foxboro were historic and we probably will never see another NFL team duplicate that success.” The Patriots’ 20-year dynastic run was called by The Sporting News as the greatest in sports history, topping the various reigns #2 Boston Celtics (basketball), #3 New York Yankees (baseball), and #4 Montreal Canadiens (hickey).

Dan I don’t know if you are aware of a kid from D-3 Hobart College, Ali Marpet, has been protecting Brady as a starting O lineman. I do know that you are aware that Hobart is located near Syracuse in Geneva and have a very intense rivalry in lacrosse, dominated by the ‘Cuse and labeled a classic David vs. Goliath, playing there annual game for the Kraus-Simmons trophy named after the 2 long time coaches at each program.
Here is hoe Great Tom is. Aaron Rodgers of the Packers has one N F L Championship in his illustrious fifteen year career. Brady has been in the N F C one year and is tied with Rodgers for N F C championships. An amazing stat. Good luck on your pick Dan. I think if K C gets out fast they’ll be tough to beat. Not a Bruce Ariens or Andy Reed fan and don’t care who wins it. I’ll take K C big.

I loved this story. Mediocre athletes, good coaches, meaning good men who take an interest in kids they coach. Young athletes develop skills thanks to these men who receive no financial reward for their time and effort in helping these kids. I had such a coach at Pomeroy Jr. High School in the late 1940s. He was a history teacher and his name was James O’Brien. He was as good a coach as he was a history teacher. Thanks to Mr. O’Brien and later Pittsfield High School, Coach Arthur Fox, I went on to Colgate, football, professional baseball, and other professional accomplishments. It takes mentors for young athletes to develop skills to go onto higher levels like college or professional sports. I was fortunate the have a man like Mr. James O’Brian, my Pomeroy Jr. High School coach, who took an interest in me in my seventh-grade year to show me the way.

I had Coach Fox for driver ed. at PHS. Been driving almost 60 years and still act on some of his tips and advice taught in class. BTW, when at PHS a substitute teacher, a robust red headed Irish ex-Marine named Joe Moran offered me after school employment and he really instilled what the cliche “hard work” meant. I believe Joe was a Pittsfield guy who went to the U. of Kansas on a track scholarship.

Obamacare’s health insurance costs on low to middle income families is so high that most of the recipients cannot afford to use it unless it is a last resort. It is a joke to for the millionaires on Capitol Hill to debate the minimum wage without addressing the cost of health insurance. Helping the working poor is not rocket science! Pay workers a living wage, provide affordable housing, provide affordable health insurance, educate the youth in fully-funded public schools, and provide pension plans for workers when they become senior citizens. I do not believe that Capitol Hill really cares about the working poor. Members of U.S. Congress literally have to raise thousands of dollars each and everyday – mostly from K Street corporate lobbyist PACs – to be able to keep their seat, such as “PAC-Man” Richie Neal, who has been in U.S. Congress since 1989 – or for over 3 decades now. Politicians speak out of both sides of their mouths, but at the end of the day, they only care about money and power.

Yup, good run. But coming out of high school, not one of the D-1 colleges recruited him. He and his coach put together a highlight film and did a bulk mailing. Michigan bit. Tommy ended up there, but when he got there, was buried on the depth chart. In ’96 as a freshman, he was 6th — not a typo, sixth — on Michigan QB depth chart. He fought and completed for playing time … in practice. In ’96 and ’97, he threw a total of 20 passes. His first career pass as a D-1 QB was intercepted and returned for a TD! ’97 saw him backup to Brian Griese. ’98 as a senior he had to fight off Drew Henson. Brady is a once in the history of the planet talent, not just as a QB but as a competitor and person.

Nothing wrong with absentee voting. People have to show proof of who they are and are tracked. Mail-in ballots are completely different and much more easily used for fraud since anyone can fill them out and forge a signature. Today, I present you with the people who supposedly represent you where you live in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
Smitty Pignatelli – He writes op-eds about Berkshire County’s drastic losses in population and living wage jobs without looking at himself in the proverbial mirror after serving decades in state and local politics. What is worse, Smitty voted for his own 40% legislative pay raise (early-2017) and he accepted 3 legislative pay raises last month (January 2021).
Adam Hinds – His first vote on Beacon Hill was for his own 40% legislative pay raise in early-2017. Like Smitty, he accepted 3 legislative pay raises last month (January 2021), while he openly supports raising state taxes later this year (2021) to be able to balance and pass Beacon Hill’s fiscal year 2022 state budget. Oh, the hypocrisy!
Richie Neal – He is the Democratic Party’s most corporate friendly “PAC-Man” for K Street’s lobbyist firms. Richie Rich brings in the big dollars for the Dems. The people who live in his Western Massachusetts C.D. are totally disconnected from the wheeler dealer named Richard Edmund Neal.
Ed Markey – He really lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland, which is a wealthy suburb of Washington, D.C. His radical progressive platform will never happen, but at least he says lofty things in the United States Senate that the radical progressive people who live in Massachusetts like to hear.
Elizabeth Warren – She says she fights for Main Street, but we all know that we are in “a K-shaped” economic recovery/recession. Wall Street is at record highs, while the Main Street economy is at rock bottom. She is full of hot air!
Kamala Harris – She is a political Chameleon who changes her political views like we all change our underwear. She called Joe Biden a racist, which is true if one looks at Joe Biden’s public record over nearly 5 decades in the Swamp, but now she is Joe Biden’s loyal Vice President.
Joe Biden – He has spent nearly 5 decades in the Swamp. His public record was racist, including his support of the mid-1990s crime bill where the Democrats called black youth “Super Predators”, which was a coded word for the “N-word”. He and his alleged crime family are all worth tens of millions of dollars each without reasonable explanation. His son Hunter is under federal law enforcement investigation for his foreign business dealings with adversarial countries such as China and Russia, along with Hunter’s alleged money laundering. Hunter Biden’s personal life includes being a crack cocaine addict and alcoholic, paying sex workers for sex, frequenting strip clubs, not providing sufficient financial support for his families, lying to a Judge by saying he did not get a young college woman who worked as a stripper pregnant, but the court-ordered paternity test proved that middle-aged Hunter was the father, having at least 5 children by at least 3 different women, among other serious allegations. Joe Biden says he is proud of his only surviving son, Hunter Biden. Joe Biden’s judgment is unsound. Joe Biden has ended tens of thousands of jobs within the first few weeks of his presidential administration. Energy prices are increasing, which is similar to a tax hike on the working class. Joe Biden’s spending plans will set record federal government deficits. The U.S. national debt will soon be well over $30 trillion and counting higher.

Americans are being hit by higher gas prices which will only get higher, increased heating costs because senior citizens are emitting too much to heat their homes. Democrats want the elderly to turn down the heat and freeze since the elderly are always cold and they need to sacrifice for climate change. Some elderly lives may be lost from being forced to live in cold houses, but saving the planet from climate change must be our first priority. People driving these big SUVs are on notice that you need to think small. Small is beautiful. So many Pittsfield drivers with huge SUVs will need to sacrifice for climate change. They are using too much gas to power up these monster vehicles. Electric vehicles may happen, but only the wealthy will own them for quite some time. Until then, we still need gasoline which we will get from China, Russia, and Iran and make those hostile countries very wealthy.

Kansas City either wins or loses the game on a field goal late. I’ve seen this is a dream. I don’t know if the kicker makes it or not. But I think he’ll miss and Tampa will win.
So, my pick is Tampa Bay.
