(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY SEPT. 27, 2021) — The Dems are in a dither. The Republicans are loving it. A financial crisis looms.

Other than that, not much is happening on Capitol Hill.

Seems as if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, ignoring the pleas of the Squad and others in the Loon Left of the party, will go ahead and allow a vote on the bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure spending bill as early as today. For the extreme left, Pelosi’s move has triggered the panic button.

Democrat extremists want to hold off voting on the infrastructure bill. They’re afraid it might pass because it’s one of those rare spending packages that have support of both parties. The Squad and squatters want to use the bill as ransom for the $3.5 trillion expansion of the social services “safety net.” The unprecedented spending would reward the “gimme groups,” penalize businesses and investors with ruinous taxes, and put more squeeze on the bedraggled middle class.

In tying infrastructure bill with the “gimme giveaway” measure, the Libs hope to force centrist Democrats and Republicans to vote for both instead of ditching the former.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer warns that if the radical Dems succeed in linking the two bills and the $4.5 trillion spending, it could not only doom both but also cause an irreparable split in the party.

All this comes as the House wants to raise the debt ceiling yet again to keep the government going. Raising the debt limit will allow the U.S. treasury to borrow more, adding to the already inconceivable $28.43 trillion the country owes. That translates to $86,000 for every American citizen. It’s a classic Hobson’s choice (and we don’t mean Butch): Either borrow more money and increase the debt, or hold the limit on debt and face the economic consequences, not the least of which would be defaulting on loans.

Without the OK for more debt, Treasury cannot issue new bonds. In early August, it began what it calls “cash conservation.” When Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski utilize “cash conservation,” you have to respect that since it’s the only way they can keep their heads above water month-to-month. When Big Government employs the phrase, it loves the words that don’t match the actions.

This program allows the government to pay its bills without having to issue new debt. Obviously, the emergency program doesn’t bode well the the country’s economic structure, and it has a short shelf life, due to expire on Sept. 30, when the national fiscal year ends. Without more borrowing, Treasury has enough dough to last until early November.

• No longer paying interest on the national debt. Look at the amounts for FY21 (source U.S. Treasury)

• Stopping Social Security payments and pensions to public workers

• Halting Medicare payments and Medicaid contributions
• Freezing military spending.

Under “debt issues suspension,” these payments simple cease.

To be sure, partisan politics at its worst have been riding this drama since Syracuse Joe took office and the Democrats got control of the White House, the House of Reps, and the Senate. They didn’t heed to old advice of being careful about your wishes.

To act before Sept. 30 and given how slim the majorities are, Dems need the GOP’s help, but Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says forget it. McConnell told Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer not to count on Republican help, saying, in effect, “Hey, you guys control both houses. It’s up to you to find the votes. Not my problem, man.”

Result: Yet another standoff and an inevitable showdown, with partisan bickering at a zenith.

THE PLANET predicts that come Friday, Oct. 1, the warring parties will have hammered out a deal, citing historical precedent. In the past 98 years, Congress has raised the debt ceiling 80 times. What’s one more?

But at what cost this time around? And how can it responsibly done with Syracuse Joe Biden’s proposed new spending that will cost $4.5 trillion at minimum, with an actual cost estimated at $6.5T.?

That, dear friends, you’ll never find out. The actual deal-cutting will never be revealed.

It will be steep, however, and one way or another, the Kapanskis will continue to be keel-hauled, the U.S. will continue its decline, and China will step closer to the crown of World No. 1 Superpower.
