How much will it cost the city (or state) if they help someone inject heroin into themselves and then they go out and get in a car wreck or jump off a building?

Probably the same amount that it costs the city every time someone leaves one of the federally and state regulated safe consumption sites that we already have here in town.
They are called bars, and people are leaving them impaired day and night with no blow back to the city so…

I was born in mid-1975, so I never experienced old school Pittsfield like my parents and grandparents. I have heard stories and saw old photos of post World War 2 Pittsfield. Congressman Silvio Conte brought home pork for the working class in Pittsfield back in the old days. In 2021, K Street PAC Man Richie Neal, Chrome Dome Adam Hinds of Amherst (Massachusetts), Trippy Country Buffet, and Level 5 Linda Gated Community Tyer are totally disconnected from inner city Pittsfield and the distressed families who live in daily fear of daily shootings, violent crimes, gangs, drugs, prostitution, and multigenerational poverty. GE’s industrial heyday in Pittsfield is a distant memory, while GE left the area and made Pittsfield into its dump. Jimmy Ruberto once called Pittsfield the best city, but now he lives in Naples Florida with summer condo in upscale Lenox. Pittsfield politics is corrupt with an incestuous-like group of political insider hacks taxing the proverbial Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski out of the Pittsfield’s ever shrinking middle class. Nightmarish 2021 dystopian Pittsfield reminds me of Pottersville in the 1946 Christmas movie classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” and Biff’s casino magnate city in “Back to the Future Part 2”.

You’ll be buying solar panels from China TSC. That make you all warm, green, and fuzzy.

Traitor Joe Stolen just handed Afghanistan and 85 billion in weapons to our terrorist enemies in a humiliating fashion. Now these terrorists control a country that has the most mineral deposits needed for your “green deal”, and China is moving in to harvest them.

Concerning US industry, it was the corporate leaders and Democrat supported corrupt union bosses that sold out the USA workers/people.

BTW, what did Goobberment Motors do with the bailout money Sotero gave them? They built a new factory quick! In Brazil…..

“Union Sundown” – B. Dylan

Well, my shoes, they comes from Singapore
My flashlight’s from Taiwan
My tablecloth’s from Malayisia
My belt buckle’s from the Amazon
You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines
And the car I drive is a Chevrolet
It was put together down in Argentina
By a guy making thirty cents a day.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.

Well, this silk dress is from Hong Kong
And the pearls are from Japan
Well, the dog collar’s from India
And the flower pot’s from Pakistan
All the furniture it said “Made in Brazil”
Where a woman, she slaved for sure
Bringing home thirty cents a day to a family of twelve
You know, that’s a lot of money to her.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.

Well, you know, lots of people complaining that there is no work
I say, “Why you say that for
When nothing you got is US made ?”
They don’t make nothing here no more
You know, capitalism is above the law
It say, “it don’t count ‘less it sells”
When it costs too much to build it at home
You just build it cheaper someplace else.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.
Well, the job that you used to have
They gave it to somebody down in El Salvador
The unions are big business, friend
And they’re going out like a dinosaur
They used to grow food in Kansas
Now they want to grow it on the moon and eat it raw
I can see the day coming when even your home garden
Is gonna be against the law.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.

Democracy don’t rule the world
You’d better get that in your head
This world is ruled by violence
But I guess that’s better left unsaid
From Broadway to the Milky Way
That’s a lot of territory indeed
And a man’s gonna do what he has to do
When he’s got a hungry mouth to feed.

Well, it’s sundown on the union
And what’s made in the USA
Sure was a good idea
‘Til greed got in the way.

And off source parts to 3rd world so the can claim Made in Japan.

The Japs and Germans have factories here in the USA. It’s not that American workers can’t build good stuff, it’s that “American” corporations won’t let them.

A spin off of this is we no longer have a skilled workforce. GE had some of the best machinists in the world right here in Pittsfield. All that knowledge is gone now.

Somehow back in time a carousel was a good thing in Pittsfield. Now, if the special interests cannot make money off it the city will not give it any help. If it was donated to Milltown or one of the other super influencers the mayor would rain money on it.
Quarter million for a dog park and the city picks up the tabs for poop bags and picks up the shit but no can do when it comes to the carousel (even though this one…. REALLY IS FOR THE CHILDREN)

The carousel was a dumb idea right from the start. Shulman writes those back in the day stories for the Eagle and he is the one behind it. Kids don’t even know what a carousel is nor do they care. If it isn’t electronic and they cant hold it in their hand and push buttons they aren’t interested. It was doomed to fail from the start.

Bikes are not electronic either but the mayor says the new Mountain bike thingy is for the kids. She has put a half billion dollars into the parks and I assume she is at least saying that was for the kids.
(not sure why I am even addressing your post. it was beyond stupid)

Local politics wether pro incumbent and,or puppets-candidates,eventually get sucked in or have no say, 8- 3 Votes have been like this for years. Committees generally are stacked with hand picked mayoral likes. Like the man from Mensa said many years ago,the voter votes, not the taxpayer, how true. While voting is foundational to democracy in many cases, it most often is NOT in Pittsfield. The deck is stacked before the polls open and even when your candidate wins you quite often find out too late that you voted for a wolf in sheep’s clothing. All to often I have found out that the candidate I thought was going to represent the people was actually part of the cabal of special interests. It is a charade. A make believe drama where you pretty much know 95% of the time who will win just by looking at who is backing them. And if it is heavy money from special interests that guy or girl is NOT going to represent you. These days, after the election is over, many of them are not even pretending. And they know who they are. And so do we.

Talking about the city as a whole from the mayor to the council president to those on the lopside of most 9-3 votes going back 30 years.
I see zero chance of the power hold changing this time around. The grip is too tight. One, two or three new people, assuming they were really not special interests reps, would not change any final votes or special interest policy.
And with that covid windfall lying there for the taking, you can bet they will leave no room for error.

I’ve talked to reps from two very well established Fortune 500 companies that looked at Pittsfield. Their reasons why they aren’t coming here, the “red carpet” team is boorish and stacked with good old boy buffoons.
They aren’t even subtle in their approach to TIFs and incentives. One of the lawyers for one of the companies had to remind Coakley that what he was actually suggesting in one of the meetings was against the law.
He was looking for a “guarantee of support” for the Mayor at the next election.
When the reps from a city ask companies to do things that are illegal, the smart ones run.

Wayfair moved here in spite of the moves by Tyer and Coakley. It was a done deal based on the tax incentives from Boston.

Dan, thanks for all the memories. These pictures show how GREAT Pittsfield was, yet it makes one feel really angry at what Pittsfield has allowed to become. Thanks also for all the behind the scenes work you have done and are still doing to make this blog one of the only places people can voice their opinions and also learn what is REALLY going on in Pittsfield. Thanks again!

Once again I unfortunately found myself watching our down right pathetic City Council meeting last night. Have to stop doing this to myself, it is really bad for your health! Want to again thank Kevin Morandi and Chris Connell for once again trying to speak for the taxpayers. The rest of the councilors should be totally ashamed of their lack of involvement in their job. Evidently Moon and Caccamo no longer feel a need to attend and represent their Ward. Yuki has only spoken once in almost two years and that was to promote her bar. Worst of all is it blows my mind how Pee Pee Petie sat back and allowed Deanna Ruffer, wearing her horse blanket, be down right belligerent to Chris Connell. There was absolutely no need for her shear bitchiness towards him and I feel it is the President of the Council’s duty to address her behavior. He seems to have no problem scolding taxpayers when they try to speak at open mic. Morales was also very snarky with Morandi. Then again their boss has the same behavior when she has anyone question her. Also, as I watched Kerwood dressed as a maitre d, trying to answer questions the only words that ever come out of his mouth are ahh and umm. Why does he not know the answers? It is also very obvious how both Kerwood and Ruffer had to keep looking back at Tyer before they answer a question. What are they afraid of? Might as well do away with the City Council, they have not accomplished one thing in two years! Tyer, Ruffer & Kerwood would never last in the private sector.

Now she does not return calls to Joe regular guy and the front door to city hall is locked up tight. Her subserviant council president (isn’t that kind of pathetic? He is a grown man for gods sake) tries to keep public input to an absolute minimum and she seems to edit and co write media releases. Is that democracy? So at least two Taconic High Staff injured when they tried to break up a teenage fist fight yesterday. The video posted online shows quite a low intensity un-brawl between females, but perhaps you had to be there.

The truth is, kids have been fighting in high schools since the dawn of time. It’s not new, it’s not uncommon. But now, everything gets recorded. The lasting impression seems much more impactful than the actual event.

“The unit held its first meeting last month, said state police Detective Lt. Ryan Dickinson of the Berkshire Detective Unit. The task force is a long-standing collaborative of officers from local police departments who work in tandem with state and federal authorities. “

It couldn’t have held its first meeting if it’s a long standing collaborative. What it is is that she fired all the real victims advocates, renamed the unit Capeless established, now is saying she needs more money.

If anybody decides to run against Wrong Way, she just provides excellent debate material. She’s writing a lot of checks that she better be ready to cash.

In addition to her office’s abysmal trial record, she also stated in this article, there have been “a lot of cases” of gender based violence that could have been prosecuted over the years but weren’t because of lack of resources and attention.

When will Wrong Way start providing these case numbers to verify the “lot of cases.” And if there truly were “a lot of cases,” and with today’s technology (DNA), why not announce indictments on those offenders for those violent “gender based” crimes, instead of a photo-op? I seem to remember Capeless and Caccaviello’s Office prosecuting men who brutal beat/murdered their significant others to the fullest extent of the law.

I seem to remember a black female at Simon’s Rock College trying to frame a couple of white men, for committing a Jussie Smollett. Wrong Way wanted to frame any white male she could. And you bet your a*** she had those state troopers looking under every leaf and dust bunny to fram…I mean find them. Of course it was a hoax and nothing happened to her.

A white guy burning hay bails that were in support of Xiden/Harris, gets sent to jail. I do remember reading that Farley-Country-Buffet (D) even shed a few tears after hearing about it.

A lot of phantom cases at Wiliams turned out to be a complete lie. How dangerous is it that you can lie about what didn’t happen in the past to get into such an important position and then continue lying to keep it? Harrington is all policy, and “focus” but never any content and no one holds her to it.This “unit” to focus more on domestic violence is a nice head fake to avoid doing something about the rampant opioid dealing resulting in deaths and other harm – families destroyed, other crimes and general lawlessness. That is what is harming people here and ruining Pittsfield.

MR: Comparing Bill Sturgeon to a different radio-man, I’ll take Bill any day anytime. What you saw on WTBR (9/29) was one hour unredacted. He asked some difficult questions, and I wouldn’t change a thing in my answers..

He’s wise to the issues and I believe that he really loves this city. Otherwise, it was the shortest hour of my life.

(Begging Dan’s permission: here’s the show:
WTBR-FM’s ‘Morning Drive’ – 9/29/2021 (pittsfieldtv.net))

Thanks CT: I will not be lone wolfing anything. The People are the government, and my knowledge and support lies with them – not those ‘above.’ I’m more confident today, one month to go before election day, than I was when I began that my seat can make a difference.

But obviously it was a poor concept because there were no bike lanes and cones. Can you just imagine how upset the business owners must have been? Thank god mayor Tyer has fixed that little problem.

Just read Joe Curtis interview with WAMC . Here is a partial selection but overall he seems much more upset that someone filmed it and it got out to the public…………….

I was at the school committee meeting last evening. I assured all of our families that this is not the typical student experience at Taconic. This is a small group of students that are having difficulty reintegrating into the school setting, often bringing problems that exist out in the community into the school day. But this is not the typical experience. And as I pledged the other evening on video, certainly last night at the school committee, these kinds of acts will be dealt with swiftly and with accountable consequences. And we will insist on, when the consequence has been served, and the student reintegrates into the back into the school – or students, and this is for any occurrence, not just this recent one – that a restorative plan will be put in place where they have to make right with what happened and the people involved. And that often occurs through mediation, conversations and such, and it’s very individualized depending on the situation.

I agree, Analgas – Curtis more upset with and quite adamant about punishing the “filmer” – who I applaud for getting the word out that Taconic is NOT a safe, well-run school. Parents need to know about the lack of discipline. These brawlers need an alternative school setting where they will be away from the students who are actually in school to LEARN.

I’m just glad someone got it on tape. This stuff has been going on for awhile. Why no resource officer on site? No discipline in the PPS.

DA has a way with words – just reading that; my mind goes bullshit.

# 1 Andrea Harrington, never touch a victim, and don’t even say the word “touch”.

She blows at her job – is someone forcing her ? Or it’s a choice she makes ?

From the sEagle –
“””Harrington said the task force focuses on major drug-trafficking operations, and the “violent crime section” broadens the task force’s scope to “touch some of our most vulnerable victims.”””

I’ll be the one to tell ya’s… low level drug trafficking is the one that needs to be prosecuted. They don’t all have a brick kilo in their ass, all they need to destroy the world is a bag $12.00 or a bundle $100.00. It’s extremely stupid to think – let’s wait for the big bust & meanwhile people are DYING & DESTROYING THE LIVES OF THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS & PUBLIC SAFETY. Ya dumb

Will the DA be prosecuting the dealers that flock to the “Consumption” site neighborhoods to sell drugs? What is someone dies, will she prosecute that dealer? Why does an f’&*ing nurse have to come up with the kind of basic public health questions our elected officials should require before jumping on this bandwagon?

I have a close family member in treatment only because of the consequences they face if they don’t complete the program. Andrea Harrington takes away those consequences. Does she ever even talk to real people who are not “Activists” for drug use?

Harrington on the record refusing to prosecute crimes. And how exactly does not prosecuting drug possession promote public safety?

Eagles climate change propaganda makes me laugh. There will always be fluctuation in the weather. Extreme weather will always occur. Planet earth is a pimple on the universe. That being said, it doesn’t mean that we should pollute our planet. Common sense should prevail, green deal is a bad deal. I’m sure China is hoping we enact this boondoggle.

What authority does the superintendent have to suspend students for “up to 5 days” or punish them in any way for publicizing a video of a school fight? How is sharing information a heinous act? Will he also be preventing the school paper from reporting on it? This guy is a total moron.

“Well, I clarify the expectations in my letter and video overview that any student that films such a heinous act, and then certainly publicizes it in social media and other locations will face initially up to five days suspension.”
