PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY AUG. 22, 2022) — First off, allow THE PLANET to break news pertinent to the race for Berkshire County D.A: Attorney Tim Shugrue has won the endorsement of the Pittsfield police union (PPU).

THE PLANET typically places little stock in endorsements, but we remain flexible enough to know when a backing is significant. This is one of them. Along with the nod from the State Police Association of Massachusetts (SPAM), getting the back of the police force of the county seat are reliable predictors of a campaign’s eventual winner. The endorsements of SPAM and PPU illustrate the loathing that area cops have for a the inexperienced, in competent Mrs. Harrington. It also adds to the evidence suggestion of a Shugrue victory so convincing as to be read as a humiliation of the vermin of an office holder who has poisoned not only the D.A.’s office but also the country’s entire criminal justice system.

And over the weekend, Jeanne Kempthorne, Mrs. Harrington’s former Chief of Appeals, backed Shugrue for D.A. while issuing a scathing indictment of her former boss. Kempthorne issued her backing of Shugrue in a letter to the Berkshire Eagle. It’s the latest in a long like of former backers who have publicly repudiated not only their support of the incumbent D.A. from four years ago but also switched sides. The lightweight, “little girl” D.A. is going down.  It’s the sinking of the Andrea OuttheDoria.

———- 000 ———-

Her ‘Enemies List’

Among Kempthorne’s other observations, the respected jurist says the in-house managerial meetings focused on her enemies in the press. Kempthorne named no names, but we have it on authority that topping the list were former Judge Fred Rutberg, now publisher of the Eagle, and some dude named Dan Valenti. Yes, Andrea pulled a Nixon. She had an enemies list. With Valenti, her orders to staff were NEVER to talk to us or provide us information. That, ironically, including her press officer and rumored boy-toy Andy McKeever, who in his previous existence masquerading as a journalist for iBerkshires, wrote glowing prose-poems praising Mrs. Harrington as a goddess.  Curiously, no one in iBerkshires made the list. Kinda speaks for itself, doesn’t it?

The other irony about her obsession with her “enemies in the press” can be found in the fact that she has never found out who our moles are in the office. They have been extremely clever in covering their tracks and, with a combination of courage and their trust in THE PLANET‘s pledge of anonymity, have mastered the Deep Throat thing down to perfection. By the way, meetings don’t take place in the McKay Street parking garage. We can say no more!

———- ooo ———-

Andrea the Age-ist

Men and women 25 years old aren’t men and women. They’re children.

That’s what Mrs. Harrington believes and demands you to believe, because if you don’t think lockstep the way she does, you’re “a racist, a misogynist, an elitist,” and every other “ist” you can imagine. That’s her Loon Left definition of “inclusion.”

We should like to ask the rattled D.A., then, following her logic:

  • Should all people 25 and under who express transgender impulses and want body-altering surgery not be allowed it? They are “children” and their brains aren’t fully formed.
  • Why shouldn’t society demand that ALL persons in the United States Armed Forces age 25 and under be immediately expelled? They are incapable of mature, rational decisions of life-taking import.
  • For that matter, why do we allow any person 25 years old and under admission to ANY profession other than flipping burgers, mowing lawns, sweeping streets, and putting butter on movie popcorn.

Mrs. Harrington won’t and hasn’t answered THE PLANET‘s questions. We don’t expect answers. We never do from cowards.

You know the drill. When the phone doesn’t ring, we know it’s Mrs. Harrington not getting back to us.

———- ooo ———-

Youth Crime Has Risen Precipitously Under Mrs. Harrington

And so you see, Mrs. Harrington is all shook up on age-related matters.

At both ends of the age scale, in her 3.5 years in office, she has totally disregarded and spat upon Berkshire County’s young people and its senior citizens. Rather than count the ways, THE PLANET turns to her opponent, Tim Shugrue. Here is Shugrue’s press release on this vital subject — vital because seniors vote, and because your people are the future:

Today, challenger Timothy J. Shugrue announces his plans for helping Berkshire County youth and criticizes the office of the District Attorney as having failed Berkshire County, on the back of another incident of gun violence by a minor, the 16th this year.

“Four years ago, the district attorney eliminated school-based youth educational programs in Berkshire County schools and dismissed every one of the loyal and talented employees in that department. These programs were effective at educating students around making good choices, providing important mentoring opportunities, and identifying resources to help teenagers and their parents..

“In a recent appearance, the district attorney mentioned her office’s role in supporting the Youth Advisory Board and STRIVE Conferences as a means to addressing rising infractions among our local youth. What the district attorney failed to mention is that both of these programs were in existence long before her administration under the Capeless Administration, and both are nationally recognized mentoring programs, not initiatives the district attorney created”,  according to Shugrue.

“One of my first acts as District Attorney will be to launch data driven social and emotional learning programs back into the schools. It is critical that we support our schools by giving students the knowledge and understanding around critical topics like substance abuse, bullying, healthy relationships, cultural awareness and diversity. Under my plan, a comprehensive program would also include development of self-esteem, internet safety and the appropriate use of technology”.  “What I have heard on the campaign trail from families and teachers is that they need help with these tough adolescent issues”.

“We are at a critical time in our community where it is imperative that we expand partnerships with schools, teachers, students, parents and caregivers. It can take years for the right message, and messenger, to reach our young people.  I will work to obtain public and private grant funding to support these programs immediately through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.”

“The DA claims that her systemic programming around juvenile diversion programs is working but I argue the offenses by our local youth have increased exponentially over the past four years. A diversion only approach risks leaving the high-priority youth at greater risk without the tools and resources a robust prevention and awareness program could provide. What we continue to see is an increase in gun related incidents involving juveniles, increased assaults at schools and an increase of substance abuse and mental health issues that need immediate attention.

“One would expect a district attorney who by her own admission is too inexperienced to represent the county in court would excel in other areas of the job:  Unfortunately for Berkshire County, District Attorney Harrington ended data driven prevention programs for students,  educators, and parents. As a result, the spike in juvenile involvement in gun violence and drug activity has left our community searching for answers. If I am elected District Attorney I will prioritize these important community prevention and awareness initiatives, all the while successfully prosecuting violent offenders in our community.”

———- ooo ———-

After today, the campaign has two weeks left to Election Day. Because no Republican is running for D.A., Sept. 6 will decide it. Early voting begins on Aug. 27. Make sure you vote and send the Andrea OuttheDoria to the bottom, where she belongs.

I am reposting this here since I think you will find it relevant to today’s post. Thanks.

This is disturbing, disappointing, divisive community news. Multicultural BRIDGE founder Gwendolyn VanSant and her group who profess to be a community organization integrating diverse groups are holding a Racial Justice Candidate Forum. Only two candidates are invited:

“Please join us (and bring friends!) for an upcoming Racial Justice Candidate Forum with Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington and Sheriff Candidate Alf Barbalunga”

https://bit.ly/3Kcp7eF

How does this organization expect anyone to treat them as anything other a made-up cult to get money to pay the people who run it when they do things like this?

One would think a “multi-cultural bridge” would want to create a platform for mutual understanding and acceptance. One would be wrong.

One would think this organization would find healthy ways to address injustice, immoral and unacceptable racist behavior by listening in respectful and civil ways. Again, wrong.

This group is nothing more than a “cancel culture” organization and a disgrace to those are genuinely interested in pursuing meaningful exchange about diversity and inclusion.

If you want to foster a culture of inclusion where people are assumed to be of good intent and listen to each other DO NOT ATTEND THIS EVENT.

Shame on Multicultural Bridge and shame on Berkshire South for hosting an exclusionary event under the guise of community.

Gwendolyn VanSant is the race-baiting grifter of south county. She never knew a grant she didn’t like or a white person she wouldn’t disparage. She’s a great Barrington Al Sharpton, except Al is skinnier.
She jumped on the “racial attack” Bard College bandwagon, made money off of it. Harrington and Alf are quid pro quo paying her for this softball forum.

Just look at her organization and who she hired. Some very very confused groomer family members.

This is the new grift. They’ll take money from they self-hating guilty whites but won’t hire any whites.

You can’t believe anything that Alf or DA Harrington says… I noticed a quote that is on Alf’s website stating “ make today so great that yesterday will be jealous” he signed the “quote” ALF however that is not a quote that “ALF” wrote or made up!!!! He’s a phony and a liar! A quick google search showed me that he lied in taking credit for this quote. One must ask themselves…. If he will lie over something so simple as a quote what else will/ is he, lying about. Wake up people!!! Vote Bowler and Shugrue September 6th!!!

Absolutely. The daughter of an employee. Concocted the whole story, then they were called in to help make the space safe and fix the problem. This same person cried wolf at least two times, posted fake hate posters, scrawled hate speech in a bathroom.
When the college did nothing about it, because they knew it was fake, she upped the ante.

It was a complete fraud, they made money, the town spent $60k doing the investigation, the school spent money on its investigation, the fraudster didn’t get charged, and didn’t have to make reparations, I mean restitution.

at The John Dewey Academy

A tawdry squalid tale of a female teacher using drugs and alcohol to entice a male student into a sexual relationship at a private therapeutic boarding school.

Dewey Academy is sued over teacher-student affair

Berkshire Eagle
August 26, 2004

“According to the suit, Hampton was entrusted with counseling the young man. Instead, she regularly gave [the student] alcohol, encouraged his drug use and had sexual relations with him at her home in Great Barrington and in the school care.”

The teacher had a child with the student, which was later placed for adoption.
But not to worry, because the teacher got pregnant a second time by her student she was enticing with drugs, alcohol, and sex.

“The Dewey Academy, a coeducational, college preparatory therapeutic board school, was founded by Bratter in 1995. The annual tuition at the school, which houses its students year-round, is $65,000.” That was the tuition in 2004.

Who is Gwendolyn Hampton?

Civil Suit Against Dewey in MA

14, September 2004

Teacher in Abuse Suit defends actions

At Dewey Academy, feeling of betrayal
By Shelley Murphy, Globe Staff / September 14, 2004

“As his teacher, boss, and therapist, Hampton “controlled every aspect of my life at John Dewey,” Helfand wrote. “She did not help me. She further exacerbated problems that I already had and created more emotional problems that I will now have to deal with for the rest of my life.”

“Though Hampton said she did not believe her relationship with Helfand was wrong, she said she did not feel completely “comfortable” when it turned sexual and did not tell people about it.”

“After getting pregnant twice, Hampton said she hid her pregnancies from everyone at the school by wearing loose-fitting clothes to work.”

Hampton never told her student that she had given birth to a second child by him. Hampton, a single mother, said she was raising that fatherless child on her own, along with her two other fatherless children.

Hampton’s lawyer said he plans to seek child support for the second illegitimate baby born to the teacher and her student, a student at a private therapeutic boarding school for troubled teenagers in a small town in the Berkshires

You can be reasonably sure this race-baiting single mother of multiple illegitimate kids neglected the relevance of the importance of fathers in the lives of the children they irresponsibly create. In uncivilized cultures the involvement of fathers doesn’t go any further than that of sperm doner. It ends with them dropping their tainted load and disappearing. They’re not there to provide paternal protective, emotional and financial support of the illegitimate spawn they set loose on civilized society.

Breeder females and their disinterested sperm doners who create illegitimate spawn are equally guilty of child neglect to the point of gross abuse by failing the rights of children to be protected, nurtured and supported by the abusive breeders who create them.

The Consequences of Fatherlessness – National Center for Fathering

“As supported by the data below, children from fatherless homes are more likely to be poor, become involved in drug and alcohol abuse, drop out of school, suffer from health and emotional problems. Boys are more likely to become involved in crime, girls are more likely to become pregnant as teens.”

Fatherless Daughters: How Growing up Without a Dad Affects Women

Fatherless Daughters have self-esteem issues.

Countless studies have shown that fatherlessness has an extremely negative impact on daughter’s self-esteem. Her confidence in her own abilities and value as a human being can be greatly diminished if her father isn’t there.

Father-Absent Homes: Implications for Criminal Justice and Mental Health Professionals

Coming from a fatherless home can contribute to a child having more emotional problems, such as anxiety and depression. Children raised in single-parent households experience more physical and psychological problems compared to those raised in two-parent households.

The number of children who grow up without a father in the home in the United States has reached concerning levels. There exists considerable research base that suggests that children raised households lacking a father experience psychosocial problems with greater frequency than children with a father in the home. (Allen & Daly 2007). These problems have been found to extend into adolescence and adulthood and include an increased risk of substance use, depression, suicide, poor school performance, and contact with the criminal justice system.

I agree Dan. This is not only horrible, but disgusting. As a teacher you are in a position of trust. It’s not an opportunity to relive your (missed) high school days and seduce your students.

Gwendolyn is lucky she did this in MA. In other states in the US, Gwendolyn would probably be making parole about now.

Not to mention she had a kid with her student. I guess Gwendolyn was doing “activist work” when they taught safe sex in school.

Instead of fabricating a conflict with his schedule, sheriff Bowler should have told this YT HATING RACIST BLM 503c farce to go fuck themselves. That would have been the honorable thing for Bowler to do. Just man up and refuse to participate in this shit, Bowler. Or are we to believe that if this alleged conflict with his schedule did not exist, sheriff Bowler actually would have participated in this BS. I still don’t know why he would agree to a forum in which YT hater liar Helen HANDGUN Moon moderated. And on the issues with HANDGUN Moon, the fact that she hasn’t exposed all the filth regarding her termination from the corrupt office of Dumb Ass Andrea Harrington convinces me that HANDGUN was secretly bought off in the amount of extortion HANDGUN Moon demanded for her silence. Jeanne Kempthorne left the corrupt office of Dumb Ass Harrington on her own terms and publicly exposed Harrington for the colossal failure that she is and her filthy politics. Whereas HANDGUN Moon insinuated at the time of her termination that Harrington’s corruption was MUCH WORSE when Harrington attempted to buy HandGUN’s silence with taxpayer money, only to have HANDGUN counter with her own extortion for an outrageous sum, for her silence.

Forgive my ignorance.

IMHO, it even more egregious that only Tim Shugrue was excluded from the BRIDGE. I think it speaks volumes, don’t you? This is an organization that is supposed to be all about “integration of diverse groups through education,” according to their own tagline. Their purpose is to train others such as business schools, nonprofits and YOUTH!! in building community and inclusion using something called “thought leadership from Gwendolyn VanSant.

More spiel:

Since 2007, our BRIDGE mission has been “promoting mutual understanding and respect among diverse groups serving as a resource to both local institutions and the community at large. We serve as catalysts for change and integration through collaboration, education, training, dialogue, fellowship and advocacy.”

Where is the outrage? This type of ostracism is a silent weapon in our community that is every bit as damaging as Harrington’s failure to address the hate crime hoax.

You should be outraged that VanSant and her organization together with our District Attorney are attempting to control what you hear and who you hear it from. You should be outraged that this is nothing less than ostracism. Have we learned nothing about the ways that bullying at work and in schools can destroy a community? Ostracism has been called the “social death penalty.” It harkens back to a time when there was no jury, trial or defense, you simply were chased out of town never to return. It’s the kind of thing we can’t tolerate because it leads people to terrible, terrible places. I hope we elect some leaders who will stand up to this because it is certainly no place any of us wants to live.

The state should freeze any and all bank accounts and rescind her 501(c)(3)? status as she’s obviously accepting monies under fraudulent pretenses.

How to lose your 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status (without really trying) – Internal Revenue Service

It’s easy for a 501 (c)(3) organization to maintain its tax-exempt status – and can be just as easy to lose it.

Nooooo let’s be really truthful here. Bowler had a long standing commitment well known to the entirety of the Berkshire political world. Gwendolyn purposefully chose the date knowing both Shugrue and Bowler were already committed to other events.

And before anyone edits my words.
Sex with a student or patient would be considered rape today. A patient or student under care, no matter the age, can not form consent due to the imbalance of power and influence. Gwen manipulated a child in her care into sexual relations. Today, that’s considered rape.

I think we call them Sex Offenses & there’s a Registry for reporting & tracking.

There’s also a thing called “Mandated Reporter”.

No excuse for her employment.

Someone with morals would be suited for her important role as a Rehabilitation Consultant.

She wouldn’t be legal to take kids on a field trip, no kidding. She wouldn’t be allowed to be alone with her own kids, she’d pay the YMCA for supervised visitation….

Not telling the father?

Giving one away & doing it again?

Really GOOD JUDGEMENT.

And,

It’s a boarding school. He has to stay, mandated to stay ?

BRIDGE wouldn’t recognize trafficking if it were babysitting their kids in exchange for sex and substances, while they collect a salary.

Does she run a summer camp? Are they performing free labor?

Shouldn’t you be double billing for traffic flagging now, Piggy? You are so funny!!

Well here is a good lesson, especially for simple pigs like you: financial crime such as embezzlement of millions of public dollars is worse than shoplifting, and is more important for a DA to prosecute, but you must put lipstick on a pig, so please support local corruption, Piggy as we know you will!

I have obviously triggered you as you seem very attentive, almost like a small child. That is why simple pigs supporters get so angry. I know pigs don’t have big brains too, especially when elections are near and the hired goombas get to work.

Good luck simple pig! Don’t fight crime, but complain and post here every day! It is the best way! The numbers don’t add up!!! And fight shoplifting, it’s the most important thing. Save the lipsticks, piggy, you want allowable embezzlement and unexplained patronage waste! Because dumb pigs don’t get to eat without it. I mean status quo, Liostick on a pig sounds like this election!

A Parody of blogger Dan Valenti’s writings praising Tim Shugrue and disparaging Andrea Harrington.
Tim Shugrue is perfect. He has practiced the law in Berkshire County for the past 36 years. He never had any failures as an Attorney in all of those years. I praise Tim Shugrue all of the time. I never write about Tim Shugrue’s dirty laundry with the past Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office under the late Tony Ruberto (Jimmy’s deceased brother who became a Judge), the late Gerry Downing (Did Ben Downing’s father really die of a heart attack or did Gerry Downing move far away to a place such as South America prior to the D.A.’s Office releasing of the long hidden but the later released audio tape recordings of the young children in the Bernard Baran case?), David Capeless (who retired a while after he released the aforementioned hidden exculpatory evidence), Judge Dan Ford (who prosecuted/railroaded Bernard Baran with Gerry Downing at his side), along with the other notorious Good Old Boys who covered up the late Carmen Massimiano, Jr. and Angelo Stracuzzi and possibly other homosexual deviant Pittsfield men who allegedly sexually abused underage boys, while other Pittsfield area men were persecuted for similar criminal offenses by the past Berkshire County District Attorneys for decades.
Andrea Harrington is imperfect. She has little experience practicing the law in Berkshire County. During her 3 years, 7 months, and 21 days as the sitting Berkshire County District Attorney, violent crime in Pittsfield and other areas of the Berkshires increased, but I don’t wish to point out that over 1,000 gang members now live in inner-city Pittsfield. I don’t wish to point out that Mayor Linda Tyer has been in charge of public safety matters, including the Pittsfield Police Department, in Pittsfield 3 years longer than her current counterpart in the D.A.’s Office. It is all Andrea Harrington’s fault because she uses her progressive policies that helps people in need of mental healthcare, social services, charitable organizations, community support programs, and the like. Andrea Harrington cares about the disadvantaged people instead of just throwing the proverbial book at them to punish them for their personal struggles.
I want voters to oust Andrea Harrington so that Tim Shugrue can go back to protecting deviant men such as the late Carmen Massimiano and Angelo Stracuzzi, while persecuting and railroad men such as the late Bernard Baran and the other men who were allegedly falsely accused of child sex abuse crimes under the past Berkshire County District Attorneys. I close by writing that Tim Shugrue is perfect in every way, while Andrea Harrington is an incompetent buffoon.

Sorry it’s so long. Just know it’s worth the read.
These are the kinds of people Andrea Harrington and Alf Barbalunga hitch their wagon to.
This “woman” raped (by todays standard and DESE standard this is rape) a student who was in a vulnerable position as she was his teacher and drug counselor. She had a child by him (maybe two) then wanted child support

These are the monsters Andrea Harrington surrounds herself with, Alf as well.
It seems they all share some sexual deviancies and get along well.

Bowler and Shugrue should issue statements that they aren’t going because that they will not participate in a forum led by a sexual predator and they are both shocked that Andrea and Alf would even agree to it. They are supposed to help victims, not support the criminals who violate trust.

#metoo works both ways.

At Dewey Academy, feelings of betrayal
By Shelley Murphy, Globe Staff | September 14, 2004

GREAT BARRINGTON — At a private boarding school for troubled teenagers in this small town in the Berkshires, Gwendolyn Hampton earned respect as a seemingly devoted Spanish teacher, counselor, houseparent, and single mother.

But students and staff at John Dewey Academy said they now feel betrayed by Hampton after a federal civil lawsuit was filed in Boston last month alleging that she had a secret, sexual relationship with one of her students and had at least one child by him.

Wiping away tears during an interview in her backyard, Hampton said she is humiliated by the case, which has jeopardized her career as a teacher. She insisted that she did not have sex with Adam Helfand, the student who filed the suit, until after he graduated in 2001.

”I didn’t believe I did anything wrong,” said Hampton, 32, who is 10 years older than Helfand. ”I feel I was good for Adam in the time I had a relationship with him. I certainly wasn’t luring or enticing anyone.”

But Helfand, who responded to several questions from a reporter via e-mail, said he was midway through his junior year at Dewey Academy when Hampton ”enticed me with alcohol, drugs, and sex.”

As his teacher, boss, and therapist, Hampton ”controlled every aspect of my life at John Dewey,” Helfand wrote. ”She did not help me. She further exacerbated problems that I already had and created more emotional prolems that I will now have to deal with for the rest of my life.”

Helfand, who was expelled from an Illinois high school in 1999 for using drugs and alcohol, was supposed to be getting help for his problems at Dewey. Instead, he said, Hampton gave him alcohol and prescription pills.

”We would smoke marijuana together, as well,” he said in his e-mail, adding that other former students were sometimes present ”when we were getting high and drunk.”

Hampton denied ever giving alcohol to Helfand or encouraging him to use drugs. But she said she did sometimes drink alcohol in her home, despite rules at Dewey Academy that required its teachers to refrain from alcohol or drug use at any time.

Though Hampton said she did not believe her relationship with Helfand was wrong, she said she did not feel completely ”comfortable” when it turned sexual and did not tell people about it.

After getting pregnant twice, Hampton said she hid her pregnancies from everyone at the school by wearing loose-fitting clothes to work.

While Helfand and Hampton agreed to give their first daughter up for adoption in June 2002, Hampton said she never told him that she gave birth to a second daughter by him on Sept. 17, 2003, because he had broken off their relationship six months earlier. She said she’s raising that child on her own, along with her older children, who are 12 and 14.

Hampton’s lawyer, Joseph Elder of Hartford, said he plans to seek child support from the Helfands for the baby born last year.

Laurence E. Hardoon of Boston, the lawyer who represents the Helfands, said the family would ask for a paternity test to determine whether the child is Adam Helfand’s.

Hampton also said that more than two years ago, Helfand and his aunt urged her to join him in filing a suit against John Dewey Academy, but that she refused.

Hampton said Helfand wanted her to support his false allegation that their sexual relationship began when he was a student, promising that he would give her a share of any money he might get from the case and that she would be ”set for life.”

Hardoon called Hampton’s version ridiculous and said she had distorted a conversation in which Helfand’s aunt was upset after learning that her nephew had a baby with his teacher. Helfand also said the conversation had been distorted.

Hampton has not been charged with any criminal wrongdoing. The age of consent for sexual relations is 16 in Massachusetts, and it is not illegal for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student who is at least that age. However, school districts strictly forbid such relationships. The suit alleges that Helfand was 18 when the sexual relationship began.

Hampton said she is teaching at another private high school, which she would not identify, but the Department of Education has refused to issue her certification because of the pending civil suit. She said she’s afraid she’ll lose her job and currently has no health insurance for her children.

The civil suit accuses Hampton of ”counseling malpractice.” It alleges that Dewey Academy, its president and founder Thomas Bratter, and dean Kenneth Steiner were negligent in failing to supervise Hampton.

Bratter said he was unaware of the relationship between Hampton and Helfand and had received letters from the young man’s parents praising the school for supporting their son and helping him get into college.

”If I had known about the relationship I would have fired her immediately,” Bratter said.

Hampton was forced to leave the school last September after the Helfands’ lawyers sent a letter to Bratter alerting him to the allegations.

Mitchell and Caron Helfand paid $110,000 to send their son to Dewey for two years after he was expelled from the Illinois high school. The suit alleges that Hampton had sex with Adam Helfand in a school car and at her home.

Hampton said she developed a very close relationship with Helfand because she was asked to do too many things: teaching him, serving as his primary counselor, and overseeing him when he worked in the school’s kitchen. She often called him to her house to baby-sit or to do chores, and he became very close with her family.

”The boundaries were blurred; I was his lifeline,” Hampton said, adding that she became very close with Helfand’s family as well.

She said they paid for her and her two children to visit their home in Illinois in December 2000 and in June 2001 and often gave her gifts. She also said that through her efforts, a rift between Helfand and his brother was mended.

When the relationship turned sexual, Hampton said they discussed their age differences and she told him: ”This is probably something that is not going to be long-lasting. We are in two different phases in our lives.”

According to Hampton, Helfand ended their relationship via e-mail in March 2003 after confiding the details of their affair — including the baby and the adoption — to his parents. He had also learned that Hampton had told his parents that she believed he continued to have a drug problem.

Still, even now, Hampton insists that she did nothing wrong or illegal and that she cared deeply for Helfand. ”I didn’t see myself as going out with a kid,” she said. ”I brought out the best in him. He made grown-up decisions, mature decisions.”

But that’s not the way Helfand sees it.

”She did not do anything to help me,” he said in his e-mail. ”She furthered any problems I already had and added emotional issues that I deal with on a daily basis.” He wouldn’t comment on the babies, but said, ”There is not a day that goes by that I am not affected by what happened at John Dewey.”

Hardoon said: ”There is an enormous breach of trust because the parents really embraced her as someone they believed was helping their son. They really opened their hearts to her as somebody they thought was doing good things for their son. They had no idea that any of this was going on behind their backs.”

That sense of betrayal is also felt at the school, which is housed in the majestic Searles Castle, a mansion built in the 1880s by Mary Frances Hopkins Searles, then one of the richest women in the world. It is now home to 29 high school students, many of whom said their lives have been transformed by the program built on intense confrontational therapy and academics.

Matthew Sinsheimer, a 17-year-old student, credits Hampton’s counseling sessions with helping him give up his dishonest and manipulative ways and learn to tell the truth.

”I feel as if she was very hypocritical,” Sinsheimer said. ”She did something that is almost unforgiveable, that is very dangerous for the school. She didn’t think of the consequences of her actions; she never followed her own advice.”

Still, he admits he cares for Hampton and hopes she will be all right.

Diana Gittelman, a divorce mediator and lawyer who teaches law part-time at Dewey Academy, said that nobody at the school had a clue that Hampton was pregnant. ”It blows my mind, because I think of myself as an intelligent, sophisticated woman,” she said.

Gittelman said it would be unfair if the lawsuit damages the school, because it has been so successful at helping ”out-of-control” teenagers turn their lives around and go to college.

The suit has also cast a spotlight on Bratter, who has been accused in the past of having inappropriate sexual contact with two female students.

In 1995, Bratter pleaded no contest in Connecticut to a state charge of second-degree unlawful restraint, which involved his relationship with a 17-year-old girl. As part of a plea agreement, he received a suspended one-year sentence and was required to perform 500 hours of community service and donate $50,000 to a charity that helped victims of crime or abuse. The father of the girl later filed a civil suit against Bratter, which was settled out of court.

After being charged with indecent assault and battery on a 17-year-old girl in 1999 in Great Barrington, Bratter pleaded guilty to assault and battery in June 2002. He was placed on probation and ordered not to have unsupervised contact with girls under 18.

Bratter said he had put his hand on the girl’s knee while trying to comfort her as they drove to a local store in his car, but he said she falsely accused him of putting his hand on her thigh.

He said he pleaded guilty in both cases because his lawyer advised him to, but vehemently denies ever having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

An admittedly brash and unorthodox leader, Bratter said he’s been happily married for 41 years and would never do anything to harm a student.

Lisa Sinsheimer, a New York City physician who frequently volunteers at the school and heads the parents’ group, said Bratter is devoted to students and has made himself vulnerable by running a school that takes in students who don’t always tell the truth.

”When a kid comes to this school, he doesn’t give up on them,” said Sinsheimer, adding that Bratter is known to hug students, who often refer to him as Uncle Tom.

During one of the weekly confrontational group therapy sessions at the school, where staff and students gather in a circle, Hampton acknowledged that she was questioned about why Helfand continued to visit her so much after he graduated and whether the relationship was appropriate.

She said, ”I said he was having a hard time adjusting to [college] and I was support for him, which was true.”

That entire school was based on a disturbing philosophy. Great Barrington became/is a magnet for fringe Theraoy practitioners. The book Running With Scissors which describes some crazy stuff was loosely based on a therapist’s family in good old GB. Like the Indian Reservations would be sent the crazy nuns, this place had the mother ship of nut job teachers. And rich people spent a fortune to send their kids here to be ‘fixed.’ Not very supportive or compassionate of anyone in my view.

All of them have made well over one hundred thousand dollars in salary, “consulting fees,” ARPA gifts, and political kickbacks.

Can anybody name ONE thing any of them have done to help the “black and brown” communities gain head ways into a prosperous future? Lord knows they have all certainly helped their own financial gain from exploiting it. Just curious if anyone has every actually tried and helped it?

And I don’t count taxpayer paid vacations to North Carolina or Africa, to “recruit black teachers” as trying to help. Nor do I count giving DL’s to illegal immigrants helping. That only helps low-hanging fruit like TFCB stay in office.

I’m sure Gwendolyn of Multicultural Bridge gets along with Andrea Harrington very well. They both honestly do not understand why the rules and laws should apply to them.

Remember when Harrington drove 9 months with a suspended license? According to the DA it was only happened because of a tip” from a “local right-wing blogger and assorted cranks,” inspired by sexist leanings. Harrington got special treatment from PPD that time and was allowed to drive away on a suspended license. The problem with her license that was caused by her negligence she blamed it on NY bureaucrats. In classic fashion, Harrington then went on blast with the media insisting that she “took responsibility.” The same thing happened with not paying her credit card debt. Harrington rudely attacked the sheriff for that one. Of course, her tax delinquncey was not her fault. She blasted the Richmond clerk for that.

Do you see a pattern here? Keep it in mind this week, and consider these two facts. They are going to be true regardless of the upcoming election:

  1. The Massachusetts State Ethics Commission conflict of interest law prohibits any public employees from using their position to obtain an unwarranted valuable privilege for themselves or someone else.
  2. . The state Office of the Attorney General enforces any criminal aspect.

Even this story is fake.
No she got in trouble for screwing around on her phone. Her 504 required her to go to the nurse, her glucose monitor would alarm but she set the text tone to sound like the alarm tone so she could text and use her phone. Seems strange all these “redeeming” Gwendolyn family stories. 4 children, 4 fathers, one was an underaged student and patient.

This seems odd, like Simone funneled money to her specifically, “single donor”.
“She was also celebrating receiving the Henry Jensen Social Justice Scholarship, a $5,000 award to young activists by the nonprofit Beyond Type 1 and funded by an individual donor.”

Is this the daughter that Gwendolyn had with a teenage student?

Absolutely. Breitbart also wants to exhume Shirley Temples body to see if she has gold fillings in her teeth. In 1936 when she was 8 years old she filmed a movie in Saudi Arabia and when her and her entourage left there were some gold earrings missing for the Sultans wife’s jewelry chest. At the time they strip search everyone else in her film team but were too embarrassed to search a female child (even though she received 36 proposals) . Now they are renewing their desire to have the gold back and apparently someone found video of Shirley melting the earrings down. I have always trusted Breitbart to be accurate in their news reporting and find this story to be credible. Plus, Shirley was a spoiled little brat and thought the world owed her a living. DIG her up now!!!!

Does anyone have pictures and names of the ppd staff? My daughter and her friends were harassed yesterday by someone claiming to be a Sgt in the PPD.
He was driving by and yelled “nice tits” “show me more” “wiggle that ass”.
My daughter and her friends are 12-14.
When they yell they had his plate number he yelled back, “go ahead and report it, I’m a Sargent in the PPD, I’ll just know who you are and where you live.”

Maybe he’s lying and maybe he isn’t is there a place where I can see their pictures?

I’m looking through the office of campaign finance database. The number of victims and families of victims who have made their feelings clear by contributing to Tim Shugrue’s campaign is astonishing. Never have I ever seen that before. Some of them are people who I know personally support criminal justice reform but found out it’s just an excuse to not have to be a competent prosecutor or follow the law. There are real victims of these crimes.

One of the funniest stories I heard about Ricky Henderson involved John Olerud. Olerud used to wear a batting helmet when he was on the field. Olerud played first base.

Olerud and Ricky Henderson were on the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993, when Toronto won the World Series. Seven years later in 2000, Olerud and Henderson again wound up on the same team. This time it was the Seattle Mariners.

It was during that season that Henderson approached Olerud in the dugout and said, “I used to play with a guy who also wore a batting helmet on the field.” Olerud looked at Henderson and said, “Yeah, I know. That was me.”

As you see, Ricky Henderson has the brain power of our current Pittsfield leadership. Probably the best leadoff hitter in baseball history though.

SIZE MATTERS, does the Policy specify size & print quality – I bet not.

Use of the official Probation Seal, is not legal on Alf’s campaign sign, but it’s okay for him.

PITTSFIELD

Campaign use of seal is lawful, state says

Alfred E. “Alf” Barbalunga’s campaign imagery does not appear to run afoul of state law.

The issue of Barbalunga’s use of elements of the Massachusetts state seal in some of his campaign materials was raised this month at a forum with Barbalunga and incumbent Berkshire County Sheriff Tom Bowler.

Moderator Dan Valenti and Bowler asked if the inclusion in his campaign materials was a violation of state law, and Barbalunga said it was not.

Debra O’Malley, director of communications for the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth, told The Eagle that “in order to run afoul of the law, the components of the state seal would likely need to be visible to the naked eye.”

In lawn signs, elements of the state seal appear on both sides, within seven-pointed white stars, but at less than the size of a coin.

“It doesn’t appear that several aspects of the seal are on clear display in what we’ve seen,” O’Malley said in an email, when asked by The Eagle to review the campaign materials.

According to state law, public employees are not allowed to “use any public seal, logo, or insignia, on campaign materials.”

Someone will be in trouble. Some how, this ‘letter to the editor’ made it through the Eagle censors and the Flat Tyer vibrant and dynamic algorithm. Enjoy:

To the editor: Seven years ago, Pittsfield was suffering through a particularly violent summer: a mass shooting off Linden Street, a young man murdered in broad daylight on Tyler Street and various other shootings in the city.
The city was in a mayoral election year, and the then-candidate Linda Tyer blamed much of the violence on then-incumbent Mayor Dan Bianchi. In an Eagle op-ed, Tyer said she had a plan, and that was why we should elect her as mayor.
Fast-forward to 2022. The shootings have pretty much continued nonstop. In fact, they are more frequent. They are now so common that they no longer make the front page of this newspaper unless they result in death. It seems like both the shooters and the victims are getting more reckless and younger. Oh, and we also have a district attorney now that doesn’t seem to prosecute very vigorously. In fact, she doesn’t seem to believe in police, otherwise she’d call them as witnesses in major crimes (like murder) in order to try and secure convictions in those few cases she does prosecute.

After eight years, I haven’t seen any decrease in violence. I haven’t seen the police given the manpower we need in order to make any inroads. But I also do not hear Mayor Tyer speaking out. It’s crickets from the corner office. Seven years ago, there was a plan and answers; today, we talk about everything but the violence and how we will control it. Blight — same thing. A house down here and a house down there, and 10 more blighted properties to replace them.
Aggressive panhandling, a million quality-of-life issues and none gets dealt with. It seems like every department gets put into stand-down mode to let whatever bad things happen so we don’t offend anyone. Draw people into the parks for Shakespeare, and the hoodlums from the neighborhood harass and threaten the performers during practice, and nothing gets done. Another neighborhood sinking into the list of places you cannot walk through.
I believe if you have a goal, you make a plan and work the plan. The goal will be reached. If the plan was to just drive out the good folks so that we know where all the bad folks are, it seems like the past six-plus years have been a resounding success.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

I will keep my letter to you brief. Dave Pill’s letter, below, points out that Pittsfield’s violent crime is increasing, despite Linda Tyer’s 7-year-old promises to lower it. Why is Mayor Linda Tyer passing record high municipal budgets for Level 5 public schools and substandard public services? Reply requested, please, on your blog.

Best wishes,

I’m sure when Barry Tyer hears about this or reads it, he’ll be angry that he didn’t bilk the taxpayers for more money on his Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) loan.

Barry only got a little more than a $100,000 PPP loan. Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s husband, got over $7,000,000 in PPP loans that are forgiven. Basically, we paid for them.

You should have aimed higher Barry. I mean after all, there’s no way a CPA could do that type of work at home, right?

Berkshire Eagle
Letter: Harrington hasn’t shown she’s fit for DA’s Office

To the editor: District Attorney Andrea Harrington’s reelection campaign strategy is simple as well as superficial.
The plan is to tout her relationships with a few recognizable and popular persons from outside the county, hoping to attract voters using the national- and state-level issues tied to their names. By focusing on issues well outside her job description, Harrington’s campaign wants voters to be too distracted by things she can’t control to notice the shortcomings of her administration.
I actually agree with many of DA Harrington’s progressive stances on issues beyond the scope of her current job, and would give her fair consideration in a campaign for a different office. However, the office of the District Attorney has certain responsibilities that are clearly greater than she can handle. It is crucial that we have a district attorney who can successfully try cases and properly run an office. These are abilities DA Harrington has repeatedly failed to display, exemplified by her office’s misconduct during the improperly brought Tucker manslaughter case in 2021, a case in which her presentation was excoriated by the presiding Superior Court judge.

Further evidence of Harrington’s poor performance is demonstrated by her office’s failed prosecution in a recent murder trial, despite having a taped confession. With consistent failures, it is unsurprising that DA Harrington lacks the support of both the law enforcement and legal communities. Her relationship with both has been downright hostile at times, largely as a result of expressing quick opinions before determining the facts and her penchant for blaming others when things go wrong.
In contrast, Tim Shugrue was recently endorsed by the State Police Association. He has been a criminal defense attorney for 28 years, and a prosecutor prior to that. Mr. Shugrue has more experience as an attorney and more success as a litigator. Tellingly, his campaign has concentrated on the local responsibilities and capabilities of the office of the district attorney. It is his proven trial competence and focus on our county that has earned Tim Shugrue my vote in the Sept. 6 Democratic Primary. I hope that comparing the candidates will lead my fellow citizens to the same conclusion.

So glad Tyer brought all those homeless to Pittsfield. Now they are camping in the park and robbing local banks.

A city man is being held on $2,500 bail following his arrest for allegedly robbing the Greylock Federal Credit Union branch on Kellogg Street earlier this month.

Daniel McCutchen, 53, was arrested Aug. 18 on a warrant, according to a statement released Tuesday by Pittsfield police. Surveillance footage helped police identify him as a suspect

Officers took McCutchen into custody without incident after locating him at a “small campsite” in Springside Park, the statement said.

Good enough for a photo op, not good enough for real concern.

Harrington had delivered breakfast for the roughly 50 people who call these woods home now for lack of shelter space, in part because of the pandemic.

Kennedy is a co-sponsor of Medicare for All. He termed the attempted repeal of the Affordable Care Act “an act of malice.”

He said Monday that securing political change requires listening and persistence.

“You lay down the answer that you think is right,” he said. “You keep fighting and you keep showing up.”

One less vote for Andrea

Both of them knew that severe punishment – expulsion for Helfand, firing for Hampton – would occur if their illicit affair were discovered. (Ex. 1, G. Hampton Dep. at 596; Ex. 2, A. Helfand Dep. at 169-170). Thus, they took great pains to maintain secrecy and to mislead and deceive those who trusted them. (Ex. 2, A. Helfand Dep. at 75-77, 171-172, 185-186, 399-400).
Helfand graduated from John Dewey Academy in August 2001 and enrolled at Manhattanville College in New York. Helfand finished his freshman year of college in June of 2002. In July he went to California to visit his aunt, Holly Anderson. (Ex. 6, H. Anderson Dep. at 29-30). During that visit he told his aunt about him and Gwen – the sex, the birth, and the adoption. (Id. at 50-51). He swore his aunt to secrecy, and she agreed. (Id. at 60-61). Helfand Dep. at 213). Adam and Hampton went on having sex, and in March the parents took a trip to California. (Ex. 1, G. Hampton Dep. at 691-692; Ex. 3, C. Helfand Dep. at 213). Adam joined them there, and the whole matter (or at least the major points) came out in the open. (Ex. 7, M. Helfand Dep. at 95-96). Thereafter, the family agreed that Adam should cease all contact with Hampton, and he did. (Ex. 1, G. Hampton Dep. at 691-692; Ex. 8, E-mail). On September 17, 2003, Hampton gave birth to Maya Fay Hampton Helfand. (Ex. 1, G. Hampton Dep. at 44). According to Hampton, Adam is the child’s father. (Id. at 47).

Let’s not forget the vindictiveness that Shirley Edgerton holds for anyone in the law stems from her failure to protect a disabled woman in her care – which she got away with.

Police: Workers missed sex abuse signs

  • By Jack Dew, Berkshire Eagle Staff May 22, 2008

Thursday, May 22
LEE — Four employees of the Department of Mental Retardation face district court charges of failing to report a possible sexual assault of a disabled woman. Police were informed three days after the fact that a 33-year-old, mentally retarded woman, who lives in the care of the Department of Mental Retardation, returned from a visit with her family showing potential signs of sexual abuse. Any physical evidence had likely been destroyed by then, police said, and they did not charge anyone with assault.
But the four employees — Jennifer A. Kergaravat, Shirley A. Edgerton, Barbara M. Symonds and Kathy T. Ragusa — could face a fine of up to $1,000 each if convicted of the failure-to-report charge. State law requires caregivers for disabled people to inform the state Disabled Persons Protection Commission immediately if they suspect abuse.
According to court documents and police reports, the alleged victim does not speak and communicates through simple sign language, gestures and by pointing at pictures. She has lived in the DMR’s care for several years, since her brother was convicted in 2000 of sexually assaulting her. Kergaravat ran the home and reported to Edgerton, while Symonds and Ragusa worked with the residents.
Given her history, the group home workers had been warned to pay careful attention to the woman when she returned from family visits, including performing “body checks” to look for any signs of abuse.
In April 2007, she visited her mother and father, who live in Richmond. When her father brought the woman back to the home that evening, workers noticed that his pants zipper was down. Later, when Symonds was undressing the woman for her bath, she discovered the woman’s bra was inside out and found a white fluid in the woman’s soiled underwear.
Symonds showed both to Ragusa, according to police reports. She tried to call the worker who had dressed the woman that morning but was unable to reach her. In the meantime, she washed the woman’s clothes, possibly erasing physical evidence of assault, police said.
Kergaravat was informed of the woman’s condition, according to statements given to police, and she in turn notified Edgerton.
The four workers said they didn’t report the abuse to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission because they were not certain that the woman had been sexually assaulted, according to court documents.
“I usually err on the side of caution,” Edgerton said in a signed statement included in court records, “and I would (file) a report if something met the criteria. I felt that all I had was that (the woman’s) father’s fly was down. The (soiled underwear) is a common occurrence for (the woman). My staff sometimes mess up, and it could be they put (the woman’s) bra on backwards. In my mind, I thought there was nothing to (file) on. There were no marks on (the woman) and her behavior was normal.”
Three days after the woman’s visit to her family, a part-time worker learned of the alleged abuse and called police. By then, however, the physical evidence had been destroyed, investigators said, and it was impossible to determine whether the woman had been sexually assaulted. Authorities did, however, impose a protective order that prevents the woman from visiting her family without a chaperone.
State police sought a criminal complaint against the four case workers, which was granted by a clerk magistrate in December. In March, Edgerton’s attorney, Judith C. Knight of Great Barrington, filed a motion to dismiss the charges. Judge Paul M. Vrabel denied that motion on May 12, concluding there is probable cause to believe a crime occurred.
“At trial the defendants will be free to explain their subjective reasons for not making a report,” Vrabel wrote.
Edgerton has been reassigned pending the outcome of the case, a Department of Mental Retardation spokeswoman said; the current status of the other three employees was not available yesterday.

More information on just who Klaus Schwab really is. He is a megalomaniac who wants one world government and belongs in a James Bond movie with a white cat sitting on his lap while espousing his totalitarian ideas.

At the World Economic Forum meeting last November, Klaus Schwab, the founder, and chairman of the WEF, Henry Kissinger, heads of state, and other billionaire power brokers determined that by 2030, the little people “will own nothing and be happy.” These ideologies are both evil and dangerous.

Henry Kissinger is quoted as saying, “If you control the food, you control a nation. If you control the energy, you control a region. If you control the money, you control the world.” History tells us this is true.  The global elites want this type of control.

Finally some good news in Pittsfield!

The Berkshire Humane Society is honoring a late veterinarian, renaming its shelter in his honor
By Meg Britton-Mehlisch

PITTSFIELD — For the better part of three decades, the late Dr. John Reynolds split his time between the local vet practice and the pet facility he built on a Pittsfield hill overlooking his beloved Berkshire County and the Berkshire Humane Society.

Reynolds — often decked out in a festive tie — was always the first call for John Perreault, the shelter’s executive director, and his staff whenever things got tricky with a dog, cat or other animals that make up the menagerie at the humane society.

How to contribute to the John Reynolds Challenge

To contribute to the Berkshire Humane Society as part of the John Reynolds Challenge visit berkshirehumane.org/drreynolds for donation information.

In December, Reynolds died after a kayaking accident on Richmond Pond. When his family came to the Berkshire Humane Society with a gift of $500,000 in Reynolds’ honor, Perreault said the group decided to present the family with a gift in return.

“He was an amazing man,” Perreault said of his friend. “After thinking long and hard, to me, there was really only one thing amazing enough that comes close to hopefully describing or talking about the man that I knew,” Perreault said. “For me, the most amazing thing we could do is put John’s name on our building.”

He embraced ‘kindness, compassion and community’: Berkshires mourns the death of Dr. John Reynolds
This spring, the group will rename the building on Barker Road the Dr. John Reynolds Adoption and Education Center, celebrating the man who cared for thousands of families and their animal counterparts over his 26-year career in the Berkshires.

The donation from the Reynolds family — John’s wife Valeri, daughters Julia, Ceci, Sonali, mother Phoebe, brother Thomas and sister Sharon — kicks off what the humane society is calling the John Reynolds’ Challenge, a call to action to the community to match the family’s donation.

The Reynolds donation brings the balance of the society’s fundraising effort, dubbed the Forever Families fundraiser, to $2.6 million. With the community match, that figure would reach $3.1 million, about $400,000 shy of the goal.

The campaign creates a $1.5 million endowment for the shelter and helps fund a major renovation of the building that will create a dedicated wellness suite, a feline SafePet room, an outdoor classroom space and improve the building’s community cat center.

Among the programs being funded by the campaign is a medical clinic for low-income pet owners. Perreault said that’s a program Reynolds would have loved.

“I think really what John stood for is what this shelter really stands for,” Perreault said. “His name represents who we are and what we stand for.”

A legacy secured
Reynolds was the kind of vet who would stay up all night with a sick patient, slouching in an exam room chair next to a bag of fluids as he watched over the pet healing in a cage. If he did sleep, it was only after rearranging the cushions from an exam room couch in front of his patient, his family said.

“He never thought anything about it,” his wife Valeri Reynolds said. “It was what he had to do.”

Sleeping on the floor of his practice, the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital and Shaker Hill Pet Resort, Reynolds embodied the spirit of the man who drew him into veterinary medicine — Dr. James Alfred Wright, the British vet who penned the book “All Creatures Great and Small” under the name James Herriot.

“His two big things: helping the community [and] making sure his staff had good jobs and they were taken care of,” Valeri Reynolds said. “Of course, the pets came into that — but it was almost like he cared about the people, and so therefore cared about the pets.”

At home, Reynolds was known as “Dad, Dad, the breakfast man.” He found time, sometimes on four hours of sleep, to serve up a hot morning meal for his daughters and wife.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital will not allow people in the facility, but it is taking patients. Techs and veterinarians speak to owners outdoors at a safe distance.

Valeri Reynolds said her husband couldn’t go anywhere in the county without running into a patient. If he wasn’t talking about a beloved family pet, he’d be chatting with the people he met about his latest kayaking trip, hiking endeavors or the rock wall he was building.

The veterinarian built his practice up from its start on the first floor of a home the family still warmly calls the “Housie house” to a 10,000-square-foot facility that crests a hill in southwestern Pittsfield.

When he landed in the Berkshires in 1996, one of Reynolds’ first calls was to the newly formed Berkshire Humane Society.

Perreault said that when Reynolds visited him in the shelter’s old building, the basement of an old cow barn, he introduced himself and asked, “What can I do to help?”

“I believe he’s up there now, smiling down at us, saying, ‘I’m still helping, I’m still helping,’” Perrault said. “He may not be physically here with us, but man, he’s still working — still helping us.”

Another vote of confidence in Shugrue and NO confidence in Harrington by law enforcement.

August 23, 2022
Committee to Elect Timothy J. Shugrue
**************FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE **************
Massachusetts Coalition of Police Local 382 (North Adams) Announce Endorsement of Tim Shugrue for District Attorney
In the race for Berkshire County District Attorney, candidate Tim Shugrue promises aggressive law enforcement with criminal justice reform at the same time. Today, he adds to his impressive and growing endorsements from the law enforcement community with this announcement from the North Adams members of the Massachusetts Coalition of Police Local 382 union.
In announcing their support of Attorney Shugrue, the North Adams police union offered a sharp rebuke of the current District Attorney: “We refuse to sit back and let DA Harrington’s flawed policies allow criminals to continue to victimize the residents of Berkshire County” they said. They also highlighted the surge in juvenile gun and narcotic activity in Berkshire County “Is Holding those who are possessing large capacity firearms, oftentimes while distributing drugs in our communities, not a priority? Must we wait for those firearms to continue to be used in our neighborhoods before they actually become a priority and the perpetrator is held accountable? While there are a number of soft stances that DA Harrington has taken on a variety of subjects, such as drug possession, larceny, and breaking and entering that we do not agree with, we can no longer sit back and let the empty claims of prioritizing gun crimes in our communities continue. Therefore, MCOP Local 382, which represents the Patrol Officers and Sergeants of the North Adams Police Department, has decided to endorse Attorney Timothy Shugrue in the upcoming election for Berkshire County District Attorney. We hope that this change can instill a level of confidence, partnerships, and justice to create safer communities.”
“We need to change the way we operate in the Berkshire County District Attorney’s office,” Shugrue said responding to the news. “Gun violence, specifically juvenile gun violence, is on the minds of voters I speak to everyday. District Attorney Harrington has failed to prevent or respond to the recent surge and her policies are contributing to the problem. I’m proud to have the support of the North Adams police officers and sergeants and together, we can defeat the most ineffective, inexperienced and unqualified district attorney in the history of Berkshire County to restore competence and integrity to the district attorney’s office.”
Massachusetts Coalition of Police Local 382 represents all North Adams police officers and sergeants. Shugrue has also been endorsed by the State Police Association of Massachusetts.

So the Eagle has embraced the “Go woke, go broke” philosophy.

They actually let members of “Grifters Inc” write a huge column about their scam trip to Africa. They gave race-baiter Roberta McCulloch-Dews and Sharpton Edgerton, more positive press.
Why not investigate the misappropriation of funds by ROPE, the funneling of cash for personal use and the use of family members, absurdly high pay for unqualified friends and family.

Instead of holding these race baiters responsible, they give them a pass.
