PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION JAN. 20-22, 2023) — Today on THE PLANET, something completely different, inspired by an  encounter on campus with one of today’s typical young scholars. The meeting preempted an additional PLANET CAT-Scan/autopsy of the most recent city council meeting, although, if you put your thinking caps on, you’ll be able to extrapolate how this weekend’s column can relate to the city’s current cultural, social, and political meltdown.

———- ooo ———-

Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff.

No, they’re not Teletubbies, Teenage Mutant Knuckleheads, or the new Three Stogies. They’re the members of a musical act called Migos.

You may have missed it, but Takeoff (real name Kirshnik Khari Ball … no relation to Lucille) crash landed at a private party in Houston, TX. He got shot and killed (black-on-black) in a late-October argument after a dice game. For rappers, getting shot is an upward career move. Getting shot and killed? That’s Triple Dog Ascendancy.

THE PLANET mentions this after hearing a young man (backward baseball cap, skinny, pale as death, covered in tattoos, baggy pants pulled to his crack … maybe you’ve seen him?) confidently assert that hip hop/rap is the artistic superior of Beethoven, Bach, and Brahms, and all classical music. He rattled off a bunch of rapster names and settled on Migos as tops.

“Better than Mozart,” he intoned. We were amazed he even knew the name “Mozart.” Gosh, was he a music student? No.

Turns out he heard it in connection with his second favorite hip-hopper, J Dilla (don’t ask).

———- ooo ———-

The lad, 19, is a proud product of Pittsfield Public Schools. He is unemployed and lives with his girlfriend on government freebies. Only he didn’t call them handouts. He called them his “rights” as a citizen. EBT cards. Section 8 rent. State-subsidized smart phone. Stop me us if you’ve heard this one before.

THE PLANET  simply listened, drawing several reasonable conclusions not only about this lad in particular but about the state of popular culture, accepting this Pittsfield flunky as our sampling subset.

Takeoff of Migos, shot down in a dice game, better than Mozart. Betcha didn’t know.

We finally asked the young man to recommend a Migos song. Instantly, he pulled up “Young Rich Niggas” on Spotifyt. We listened. After that, we played him the beginning of the 1st movement of Mozart’s Symphony 40 in G Minor and asked him what he thought.

“Boring. I don’t get it.”

———- ooo ———-

Here, for the curious, are the words to the Migos “song.” I’m told this is one of the more “listenable and clean” in the repertoire.

“Young Rich Niggas”

[Hook: Quavo]
Money and the power, you gotta have respect, benz coop, jaguar, G five jets
Young Rich Niggas, Young Rich Niggas, Young Rich Niggas, Young Rich Niggas [x2][Verse: Quavo]
Young Rich Nigga, I’m draped up in Versace, I went up to the jeweler, when I left I’m playing hockey
Bad bitches like it, she see Rarris & Buggatis, I’m popping bottles in the vip, she rolling off a Molly
Fendi Prada Louie bally, I don’t need a stylist, I’m taking all my goons to Cali, then we hit the islands
Order up 500 1s, I throw it all it follies, plug in Japan, so we kick it like karate
Bad bitch from Switzerland, her daddy G. O`Donnie, every time I’m on the phone we talking bout some money
I weigh it up, and wrap it up, I ship it across the country, the streets are concrete jungle play the game like it’s Jamungie[Hook][Verse: Off-Set]
My pockets is sloppy, only buy Rarris and Gottis, my clothes are exotic, Versace you copy
Migo gang is my possy, takin over like the Nazi’s, I just got out the county, money old like Bill Cosby
Hunnid bands, in all hundreds, when I make it rain it thunder, cop a lam every summer, rapping bricks like it’s a condom
I’m a rich nigga bitch, don’t even think about licks, slap a nigga with a stack, then I piss on that bitch
In the club sippin lean, but I’m still buying cris, shawty wanna talk to Off-Set, bitch you ain’t on the list
Don’t mix the lean with the sprite, drink my mud out the seil, I’m in Louie and Bally, I rock my bitches Chanel[Hook][Verse: Take-Off]
Young Rich Nigga, follow me like Twitter, all green diamonds on my neck, look like the wriller
Red, White, & Green Louie`s, bought them on the day of Christmas
Art the teacher, you the student, put you in detention
I got the camic, you my chef, and put you in the kitchen, now you dirty dancing boarding wippin washing dishes
I took yo main bitch and then I turned her to my mistress, pull up in Audi pull up in Rarri, whip full of net, it is a mystery
The rich nigga of the century, it’s going down in history, energizer bunny, wrist keep going, it got energy
Back then you ain’t know me, now that sack make you remember me, get the .45 for my enemy, tell the Lord forgive tha sin in me

———- ooo ———-

Ever wonder what larger ramifications awaiting society as this generation of young scholars hits their 30s having been raised on a constant barrage of this type of cultural brain shit?

We won’t draw you the map. Just go to Cumby’s on First Street and risk your life with an hour of people watching.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

If I’m not mistaken, Flat Tyer gave them a tax break too at the Pittsfield taxpayers expense.

Over hired huh? Quite contrary to how robust the economy and job market is according to China Joe Xiden.

Yup, trying to build a tax base by giving all the big new business tax breaks. But if you are elderly and been paying ever rising taxes here for 50 years there is no break for you. And this mayor dares you to miss a payment. She dares you.

“Our current and former Senator as well as our state rep have failed to deliver zilch in the way of new business to Pittsfield.”

I made that point during the tax hike hearing. I had pointed out that commercial growth has declined consistently over the Tyer administration and that reflects a failure to attract and retain business. Businesses tend to pay more in property and real estate and can do so revenue permitting.

As a result, the resident bears the weight. It may be the state reps’ fault, but the City leadership could educate the public why we are so deep in the hole.

The 3 useless Berkshire-based State Reps – Tricia, Smitty & John – and State Senator Paul Mark only do DISSERVICES! PAC Man Richie Neal only represents K Street’s corporate lobbyist firms, especially insurance companies. Ed Markey (D- HOT AIR) lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Elizabeth Warren does not live anywhere near Main Street USA. Joe Biden takes in more big money from Wall Street and K Street (along with Ukraine, Russia and China) than any other politician in US history. Pittsfield politics has NO representation on Beacon Hill and the Swamp!

Not sure what representation Pittsfield citizens have outside the city limits but they are surely lacking within the city limits. People like Marchetti, who had the power position to effect positive change, chose not to do so. He has let his whole community down.
And now he wants to be mayor??? Are you even serious Pete? Please tell me this is a joke. One of those funny/not funny jokes?

Great commentary on today’s society. You really don’t have to wait to see where this will go, the 90’s rap lyrics were just as disgusting and you see where that has led us. It is time to stop using the Kapanski’s hard earned money on the leeches of society. I found it funny reading an article, I believe it was in the hate rag, about how governments can’t be run like a business and they need to go into debt during a recession to pull society out. Well a politician will always say society is in recession and the government needs to spend! Time to go to a balanced budget which includes all debt payments so in 3 generations we may be back to a sustainable government.

So scary Dan, but this is the government plan for these young people. The lyrics of that song certainly are not building critical thinking skills and isn’t that the point? What they have learned in the schools is the opposite of critical thinking. The song is filled with nasty names for women at a time when women are supposed to be highly respected and dreams of being rich while living off of the government. The two just don’t go together. You’ll never get ambition while living off of the government. Women will be treated as the lowest of the low after listening to so-called music like that. It shows the hypocrisy of everything in our society right now.

Perhaps moral uncertainty is the basis for the breakdown in our culture?
Broken homes, lack of fathers, no sense of right or wrong, no spiritual core values, attitude of entitlement, no work ethic, and schools that prefer to teach CRT & sex rather than reading, math & science!

Moral certainty absolutely has a place in political debate!

What Dan describes is not unique to the Pitt, as he so eloquently points out, but is the truth for every large city in Massachusetts and the USA. We are correct in feeling the way we do and pointing out the obvious problems. But we need to realize that these are problems to be solved, because they won’t go away by themselves.

For starters, black rap, however crass and misogynistic, is a reflection of their culture. To members of that culture, rap lyrics are much more relevant than a Mozart symphony. Viewing these problems as just a helpless mishmosh of negatives doesn’t help solve the problem.

Pat

Unfortunately it’s a culture built on the breakdown of the family unit. All of the anger toward women seems to be about a single mother trying to raise these young people and having to be extra tough because there is no father in the picture and the young people act out against the situation by thinking all women are evil. The schools also promote this by trying to separate the kids from the family unit and replacing it with the authority of the state. The politicians are working hand in hand with the schools and do nothing to strengthen the family unit by emphasizing its importance. Instead they want big government to replace the family unit which is a recipe for disaster.

Totally agree with you. I also feel that since the legalization of pot, can’t help but wonder how many drivers on Pittsfield streets are totally stoned out of their mind, that includes City workers. This legalization should not have taken place in Massachusetts until a test was developed to check a driver’s capability to drive and employers could also randomly check their employees. This erratic driving is running rampant in Pittsfield, many times I have followed Cheech and Chong on Dalton Avenue and Merrill Road driving like maniacs.

What don’t you like about this song? The swear words? It may not be in your particular vernacular but surely you comprehend the message – “I’m a rich rapper, I enjoy the finer things in life, I dress well, drink well, treat my friends well, and the rest of you are plebs.”

Would you prefer a rap song detailing a life of slinging drugs and robbing people? Is that what you expect from young black culture? Is that what you prefer?

Had a very disgusting experience early today on Tyer’s Vibrant & Dynamic North Street. In trying to run an errand at a merchant on North Street I was confronted by Tyer’s Nazi Parking Officer stating that I could not park on that side of North Street. Told the Nazi that I was just dropping off something and it would take all of one minute. His words were “Lady, rules are rules”. Have to admit that I did not respond like a lady and just ignored him and went about my short errand! There was not a City plow around the area. I did mention to the merchant that I was told that there was no parking in front of his business today, he said he was unaware of this. Felt bad for the owner, tough way to have to run a business. I also noticed this merchant was the only one that had shoveled his sidewalk. This type of behavior from the Tyer Administration proves why North Street has become a ghost town. I drove by this merchant’s store late this afternoon and the City had yet to plow out the street! That was seven hours after I was confronted by the Nazi parking officer! Totally pathetic to treat tax paying businesses, no wonder they are all closing.

“It’s the same as rotting your vehicle”
That’s because MgCl2 is an acid salt. It chemically splits water in to form acid. NaCl does not react with water – just produces chloride ions.

All solutions (pun) have costs. Magnesium chloride is a relatively new product for salt treatment, so there is good reason to doubt the value of its benefits. Depending on how well it is applied, the following may be disadvantages to consider, even though they are not present in the Commissioner’s report:

A: Slow damage to concrete: MgCl2 reacts (slowly) with concrete converting it to paste. Also, more freeze-thaw cycles increases scaling. If you have a concrete driveway, this could be an expensive problem. Some doubts on this one.(1)

B: Difficult to control brine concentration – reports of black ice at moderate temperature:
MgCl2 is reported to be slippery at near freezing temperatures. (2)
Dilution can cause black ice at -6 centigrade (2)

C: Environmentally more destructive. (Not a permanent issue tends to be minor): Chloride ion kills vegetation. MgCl2 has twice concentration of chloride ion as NaCl (halite) – thus twice scorching impact on vegetation.

The two reactions show the amounts, acid, and corrosive chloride.

MgCl2 (solid) + H20 (liquid) –> Mg2+(OH) + 2Cl- + 2H+ (acid)

NaCl –> Na+ + Cl-

NaCl does not split water molecules and does not produce acid.
That’s half the acid and chloride for halite compared to mag. Clearly, magnesium chloride is much more destructive because it produces higher concentrations of chloride and the additional acid. Further, there should be more saturation of deep crevasses in undercarraiges (more difficult to clean). This concern makes me cautious, having now tossed out 4 pefectly good cars in the last 10 years because the metal disappeared in spite of frequent cleaning.

Maybe we don’t really want the magnesium. The Commisioner’s report indicates that towns using magnesium did not fare very well. The obvious answer is only use it at sub 10 degree farenheit and sparingly. Judging by the piles of salt where the plows slow and stop raises doubts.

All solutions have (lots) of costs often unacceptable to those who are supposedly served by them. This is why good governance demands great care in developing them. My solution: pretreat with regular salt and keep residents informed. When we are all rich, wealthy with money to burn, we can spend $50,000 on magnesium.

Sources: both are biases in terms of industry interests, but they float for me.

Draft – linked version is pending approval.

“It’s the same as rotting your vehicle”
That’s because MgCl2 is an acid salt. It chemically splits water in to form acid (H+).

MgClhas twice concentration of chloride ion as NaCl (halite) – thus twice scorching impact on vegetation.

The two reactions show the amounts, acid, and corrosive chloride.

Mg(Cl)2  + HOH –> MgOH + 2Cl- + 2H+ (acid)
NaCl + HOH –> Na+ + Cl- + HOH

Eagle has Morales snow job report. Ya got to read it to appreciate it. Bottom line is the city was in the trenches fighting like hell aginst impossible odds and crash victims are whiners who cannot drive.

Will not be surprised if the mayor hands out medals to Morales and others who were involved either actively or looking out windows with their hands up in the air.

Agree. Morales should be given a raise,a medal and then a citation to appear in superior court for endangering the lives of taxpayers that day. I can attest that there was zero anything on my street that day. Not even a mouse.

That report is full of bs. The city called a snow emergency over this past Friday’s storm which generated 2 inches max with ice. Another storm emergency has been called for this coming Monday’s storm. Who was responsible for calling in a code red for the Christmas storm? And if the mayor was out of town, who was in charge?
I call BS on the statement that crews were out in full force on Dec. 23-25th. I was out on the horrible roads Dec 23, 24th & 25th and never saw a plow or evidence of plowing. There was a 7-car pileup on the outer Williams St hill on Christmas Eve! Surrounding towns had no issue clearing the snow! The city’s failure to clear the snow was not due to equipment or supplies and people need to be held accountable!

Often times the lying and cover up is considered worse than the original misdeed. But there was not one person in Pittsfield or Berkshire county who expected the mayors report to read any different than it did. It is what she does.

Curious if Marchetti endorses the report. Get this guy on video with his detailed comment. (if you can find him)

But this is what you get when there is no oversight. No one with the balls to stand up to the outright deception.
You did not see what you saw, says the mayor. There must be something wrong with you if you saw mismanagement that day.

If anyone knows how to post pictures on here, make a quick search of Ricardo Morales, Pittsfield, MA, will bring up the picture of Ricky Rumpus on his bird scooter heading to work. I do not know how to, otherwise I’d post it.

Sir Chaz, if you present a slide show at the city council meeting, be sure to include that pic and title it “Ricky Rumpus to the Rescue.”

Flat Tyer, Ricky, Dina Simpson-Washington-Thompkins-Horton-Williams-Lampiasi, might not find it funny, but the taxpayers will. The taxpayers need some levity. Only race baiters and hustlers get money in this city. Besides, they hate you any way. Nada to lose.

Why not bring a 4′ x 8′ version to city council and offer it? Always give your manager solutions, not problems.
If everyone brought one, we councilors could vote on the best design.

Dr. Shirley Edgerton, PhD-RACE HUSTLER, spent the money on the “solution” to the problem, by exploring her, her family, and family friend’s, roots in Africa this past summer. Under the ROPES guise Shirley, correct?

Any chance Dr. Edgerton would like to comment on the recent arrests of young POC, caught up in large scale operations of selling methamphetamine, heroin, and firearms? Ultra MAGA or white privilege has to be it!!

If meth takes over the Berkshires, look out. You ain’t seen numphin yet. Search “tweakers” on YouTube and enjoy, until it’s in your backyard. All Flat Tyers parking kiosks better be gated up. That copper is valuable to tweakers.

Apparently he felt it wise to wear a helmet while riding these scooters. But I defy you to find a picture of any of the hundreds of children, who road these up and down North street and in and out of moving traffic, with a helmet on. Or find me a picture of anyone discouraging the children from weaving in and out of moving cars, trucks and buses.

OOPS, never mind, I just saw a report that said no child was ever on one of these scooters and any accounts showing them paying for using them are counterfeit. Took a while for the report to come out but, yup, its there. My bad.

Came across a great Lou Holtz quote when asked about the difference between today’s athlete and 50 years ago, he said “today the athletes talk of rights and privileges, 50 years ago they talked of responsibility and obligations”. I am hoping the city council realizes their responsibility and obligation to the people of Pittsfield when they meet Tuesday. I remember the storm they are talking about, having to drive people throughout the storm and my experience is completely different then what the report said in the hate rag. Dalton and Lenox roads were fine, Pittsfield the complete opposite. My street wasn’t plowed until it was too late. A funny sight during the storm was I city plow truck pushing water scraping the clear pavement on Hubbard road, why was it clear? I believe it’s a Dalton responsibility.

Seventeen people on the terrorist watch list were arrested trying to come over the border this week. That’s just this week and these are the ones they caught. It just shows that terrorists are using the open borders to get into our country to cause violence. What is our government’s response since their first duty is to protect its citizens? As the country gets more violent, the governments response will be a police state. This will give the government much more power, but the people may be begging for the police state at that point since it will be so violent. In California, an autistic girl was raped and murdered by a teenager who had recently come over the border. M-13 gangs are spreading across the country. I hear that Maryland, the entire state, is a very dangerous place to live right now. Whole states are now being overrun with violence.

Just finished reading the Tyer Administration 20 page bulls*** propaganda on the Christmas storm. Wonder how many hours it took to compile this pack of lies? Taxpayers could care less about the pie charts and graphs, they would just appreciate the truth from the Liar Tyer Administration. Why is it that most taxpayers did not see a plow in their neighborhood yet Morales said they were out plowing, if no one saw them, where were they? Just once in Tyer’s “reign” it would be nice if she could just admit they screwed up. Why is the accident count 30 plus accidents less than what the PPD reported? Have spoken to many workers in stores that do not own a vehicle and were relying on public bus transportation on Christmas eve to get home to their families and church. They told me they had to wait outside in the storm for almost 2 1/2 hours for the bus to arrive, no fault of the bus company. Wonder how many broken bones and bruises the hospital ER took in. Bottom line, people should either step down or be fired due to blatant lack of service. But I am sure Tuesday night except for a few councilors that fight for the taxpayers the rest will be disgustingly staring at their laps, playing on their phones with complete boredom on their faces as they listen to the taxpayers at the open mic. May I suggest that they leave their cellphones in the back room and start paying attention to the job they are supposed to be performing, and that job is NOT kissing Tyer’s butt, it is working for the taxpayers.

Dan, just returned from an out of state visit to one of our sons. My driving skills were put to a test and even Carm will admit I am doing fine. That means I am able to drive to the RLI for a long overdue breakfast that has to be on me. You name the date and time and I will be happy to be there. Looking forward to our political and athletic discussions.

Gaetani has been calling for morales head for years, the G-man stated that morales is way over his head as up DPW commissioner G-man also states that the exorbitant cost of the treatment plants is due to Morales lack of scientific engineering know how.

Gaetani got rid of three DPW commissioners, Doyle,Collingwood and Turocy, and a fourth soon when morales is fired. Gitanas has asked Morales on many occasions to be allowed into the water plants to help the operators to run the plan is efficiently as possible, morales has consistently blocked the G man as request, looks as though the G-man will have to get rid of Morales just like he did the past three commissioners.

G-man is one of the three individuals were invented, designed, and built the Krofta warer facilities. Gaetani states that morales should be because of his involvement with failed programs which city residence in harms way such as the snow debacle and the preposterous cost at the cities treatment plants.Gaetani states that Morales must go as he is not capable of performing his duties spelled out in the employment contract with the city of Pittsfield. He must go the sooner the better.
