PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY JAN. 18, 2023) — At the most recent city council meeting  (Jan. 10) several interesting developments slithered from the agenda. The problem for THE PLANET: Which one to feature?

We had:

  • (A) An inadvertent admission by PPD chief Mike Wynn of how bad the gang, gun-running and public-school problems are in the city, behind all of which is the drug trade.
  • (B) The mayor asking another quarter of a million smackeroos for Electro Magnetic Applications, aka Spacely Space Sprockets at the Berkshire Immolation Center, that giant RV parked on the hill on PEDA East Street.
  • (C) The mayor proposing a “free” cash bonanza to everyone — except taxpayers.

THE PLANET climbed to the top of the Hilton, threw a dart, and it landed on (A). We’re extremely scientific here at the Fortress.

It’s funny. Another business just closed downtown, a hamburger joint on McKay Street, and someone tried to burn down St. Joseph’s Church; nonetheless Flat and Company regurgitate the “vibrant and dynamic” fiction. But when Pittsfield wants another handout from the crooks on Beacon Hill, they get closer to the troof.

Case in point, the council accepting a state grant for the PPD a grant of $394,318.78.

Ya gotta love the 78 cents!

———- ooo ———-

When the writers of the PPD grant application submitted the paperwork, they approached spilled the troof. Of course, knowing that no one will read these documents and keeping them in the equivalent of Joe Biden’s garage next to his Corvette, the city feel safe in acknowledging reality. They count on you commoners to NOT pay attention.

Here are some words taken from the appeal to the state for more money fighting the gang problem. All words guaranteed verbatim:

“An example of the challenges facing school aged youth in Pittsfield is demonstrated by a review of recent Pittsfield Public School attendance data. Pittsfield schools showed a dramatic increase in “chronic absenteeism” during the 2021-2022 school year, as compared to previous years … schools reported a rise in classroom disruptions because of student misconduct in 2021-2022. Nearly half of schools pointed to increases in out-of-classroom rowdiness, with 46 percent of schools reporting more fighting and threats of physical attacks between students …

”The city of Pittsfield is a destination for trafficking criminal guns; that’s not a myth. Guns are being purchased and stolen in other states and sold in other states, and they’re ending up on the streets of Pittsfield,” acknowledged Chief Michael Wynn of the Pittsfield Police Department (The Berkshire Eagle, July 13, 2021). In June, Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer noted that the “challenge of gun violence in our city has been something that we’ve struggled with and it goes back to the city of Pittsfield being a destination and a pipeline for the illegal gun trade” (Spectrum l News, June 9, 2021). Pittsfield’s location – within an easy drive of New York City and Boston, and close to the gun trafficking hub of Springfield – makes it a convenient staging ground for illegal gun storage and distribution. Gang members from these bigger cities recruit local youth in Pittsfield as carriers and distributors, and while the youth may not be official gang members, affiliation becomes appealing due to their young age and lack ofresources [sic]. Our outreach workers report that many youth identify with gangs, although they shift their gang allegiance depending on which cri112inal [sic]organization they are aiding at ny [sic] point in time.

———- ooo ———-

The grant application is signed by chief Wynn (“The Amok Stops Here”).

The point is that when Pittsfield presents its public face, it like a rug. When it goes begging for tax dollars, it admits the ship is sinking (nod to the Allendale Shopping Center).

$394,318.78 (don’t forget the three quarters and three pennies at the end).

Here’s how the cash breaks down:

  • 20 grand for the cops.
  • 35 Gs for the YMCA
  • The remainder, including the 78 cents, to the Pittsfield Community Connection, the local affiliate of the Family Services of Western Mass.’ 18 Degrees program.

Added to the public payroll:

  • a consultant
  • a team leader
  • 3 case managers
  • an outreach worker
  • a mentor coordinator
  • a clinician
  • a director of grants and outcomes
  • a VP of youth development
  • a community outreach and engagement specialist
  • Jerry Mathers as The Beaver
  • plus $$$ for client assistance, client and mentor activities, administrative costs, travel expenses, supplies, “occupancy costs” (office space), and “other costs.”

And have you noticed that the more programs society creates to deal with out of control youth, the worse the problem gets? Phunny, that.

———- ooo ———-

News of the grant reminds us of the old joke: “Who’s buried in grant’s tomb?” Answer: The City of Pittsfield. Grants are paid in pyrrhic dollars, coin of the realm that eventually leaves the recipient worse off than before. Grants create more administrative bloat and pretend jobs, funded until the money runs out, at which point the extra expenses are picked up by the Kapanskis in perpetuity, ad infinitum.

End result: Higher city spending and an increase in taxes.

When Pittsfield goes begging to Boston for crumbs, it tells the truth. When the city “communicates” with its own citizens, nothing but lies, lies, and more lies.

Get your popcorn ready for the commissioner’s Snow Job next week. Can someone please ask if Dalton, Lanesborough, Lenox, Hancock, Richmond and the State all used magnesium chloride during the Hot Mess?

Unfortunately, Pittsfield is experiencing the result of what a weak on crime DA and weak city leaders (mayor, police chief) can do to a city in a short amount of time.

It’s the “George Floyd” effect:

Emboldening criminals and making excuses for people of color to commit crimes, by blaming it on “white privilege,” or “social injustice,” or whatever catch phrase is used as the reason the criminal activity took place.

I asked before and I’ll ask again, can anyone name two people that graduated college and have used Shirley Edgerton’s ROPES course as a driving force to keep them on the education route? I cannot find one.

Shirley has received over $1,000,000 taxpayer dollars for her ROPES course. Let’s see some results. Where is MY tax money going?

Not to mention Danny Ford is his mentor

The kids are watching adults not work so they figure why should they go to school. Kids get their values from their parents and if they don’t have a work ethic, the kids won’t either.

Seriously. I read that there are families who have been on food stamps and housing assistance for generations. Grampa and grandma still collecting along with mom and dad and the kids. They consider it a part of being an American citizen. Entitlement. This is what they learn. If people are not given a survival incentive they will of course laze about. Where is the incentive to earn money for food if it is given to you? Now they have a plastic card which magically has money added to it each month. Sometimes twice a month. You don’t have to lift your pinky finger to get food. There are actually baby factory moms getting a thousand dollars a month in food stamps.

Almost everyone knows someone collecting social security disability for quite minor or non existent issues. What is the current poverty level in Pittsfield? Pretty high and ever increasing. Does anyone see this trend changing or has it gotten exponentially worse for the last decade? Will new bike parks and dog parks and baseball parks and pickle ball courts alter this trend?

If one could step into the future, five years or ten years, what will Pittsfield look like? Will there be less bums, homeless and poverty or will North street be covered with homeless housing, tents, cardboard boxes, drug paraphernalia and the stench of human waste? Which way are we trending?

The drug situation is getting worse because of our open borders. Drug gangs and cartels are exploding across the country. In California this week a 10 month old baby and her young mother were shot in the head along with several others and it was clearly drug cartels doing the violence.

Welcome to Pittsfield: Get high with marijuana, drink alcohol, use tobacco and vaping products, play the state lottery SCAM, put your behaviorally challenged children in the city’s Level 5 public schools, pay outrageously excessively high municipal taxes and fees while the city sits on over $17 million in so-called “Free Cash”, along with Matt Kerwood’s secretive multimillion-dollar Slush Funds, experience Pittsfield’s dangerous inner-city with daily shootings, over 1,000 gang members living there, and Pittsfield always being in the top 10 cities in Massachusetts for violent crime year after year and decade after decade, Mayor Linda Tyer living in a mansion in an elitist Gated Community that is a little west of Berkshire Community College within a few feet of the Hancock Border, several City Councilors not even bothering to attend City Council meetings, the Public School Committee staffing the public school district with its useless handpicked insiders who will ensure even more systemic failures in public education, Pittsfield State Representative Tricia Farley-Bouvier doing nothing (but disservices) in Boston for over 11 years other than giving illegal immigrants Driver’s Licenses, Berkshire area State Senator Paul Mark voting himself huge public pay raises plus perks, PAC Man Richie Neal raking in millions of special interest dollars from K Street’s corporate lobbyist firms, especially insurance companies, Maryland’s Ed Markey spewing his HOT AIR in the Swamp, Elizabeth Warren supporting Joe Biden, who took in more money from Wall Street and K Street than any other politician in U.S. history, and Joe Biden carelessly leaving classified documents around his private homes and vehicle for his troubled son Hunter Biden to peruse through for Hunter Biden’s alleged money laundering business fraud with Ukraine and Russia (millions of dollars), and China (over $1 billion).

He does until they block his social media and emailing ability to them. Then JM posts his dislike for them, until election time.

Then JM’s recycled “progressive politics” posts come out. His hate for Trump and his “womanizing ways,” posts come back. Did I miss anythIng JM?

And JM, before you think I’m picking on you, I’m simply saying, I believe you’d be singing a different tune about “progressive politics” if you lived in one of those areas effected by it.

Easy to state your support for the policies and the people behind them (DA Wrong Way, Flat Tyer, TFCB, etc) when you live in another state.

But I’m willing to bet if you, say lived with your parents on Bradford Street and had to live like a prisoner in their home because of gang and gun violence, your posts would read 180 degrees different.

Just my opinion. Change my mind with facts.

I believe the year was 2009 in the merry month of April, I remember it well, it was like the day MLK was assassinated, or was it like the day Boston unveiled that HUGH BROWN vulgar tribute to honor MLK, well, it matters not. April 2009 was the day Michael Wynn got all dressed up in his littl Black Rambo costume, not to be confused with his Official PPD blue fuzzy Fur and Loathing costume, and had his mug shot plastered on the front page of the eagle/news stations for his “MISSION ACCOMPLISH” proclamation to the end of Pittsfield’s violent gang leaders, violent gangbangers, illegal guns, illicit cocaine, crack, meth, heroin, and of course, copious amounts of the PPD’s party favorite, the dreaded UNKNOWN UNTRACABLE DRUG MOOLAH the PPD seized from one of Pittsfield’s many Gangland Gangbanger Drug dealer, for safeguarding.

And who will ever be able to forget Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer’s infamous ‘I AM NOT GOING TO STAND DOWN WHILE YOU TERRORIZE OUR NEIGHTBORHOODS’ 2016 speech addressed to Pittsfield’s Own Gangland Gangbangers who were still doing business in Pittsfield SEVEN LONG YEARS after littl Black Rambo rode in and smashed up the GANGS of Pittsfield. No wonder Wynn was recently named Police Chief of the Year by his admiring peers.

The Pittsfield Police Department has accepted several youth/gang violence prevention grants over several years. The city of Pittsfield recruited Adam Hinds all the way from Syria to cure Pittsfield’s Youthful Violence. And Adam Hinds allegedly did have a WHOLE ONE success story, Miguel Estrella. But the rabid PPD murdered Adam Hinds’ success story in the street like a dog.

The Pittsfield Police Department/City of Pittsfield has been accepting grants over several years to allegedly combat youth/gang violence. Youth/gang violence, depended on empirical evidence, has only resulted in youth/gang violence going from bad to worse, despite the continuation of ongoing grants to allegedly reduce youth/gang violence in Pittsfield. But, don’t worry, the PPD gets the grant money despite evidence of any positive results in curbing youth/gang violence. Because successful results are not really the point of these windfall for police departments.

Pittsfield has received Youth Violence Prevention Grants including, but not limited to,

April 25, 2014 / Pittsfield Program Targets Gang & Youth Violence, Pittsfield received $100,000.

December 18, 2014 / Pittsfield Awarded $133,000 to address Youth Violence

City Of Pittsfield Awarded $95,000 to reduce Youth Violence

Pittsfield Police Awarded $396,000 to Adress Youth Violence

On Patrol with the PPD – May 6, 2022 (All Things 18Degrees)

I could easily believe these specious grants are just supplements to the REAL money the cops seize from Pittsfield’s ever-increasing drug dealing youthful gang members, of which there is no shortage.

Seriously. Could it possibly have gotten any worse if no additional money at all had ever been allocated to fight gangs and crime in Pittsfield? No, it could not have and it is scary to think what is around the corner for Pittsfield.
Please think seriously about raising your child in Pittsfield. You know they deserve better. If you have a choice take it.

What a miracle, a snow emergency has been declared by her royal highness Mayor Tyer!
Will Ricky lay down some salt?
Will the city plows be dusted off and sent to the major thoroughfares?
Will contract plows put in an appearance?
This had better be the best snow -clearing effort in the last two years!

Will the contract plows show up for duty? Excellent question. Will they be paid for the last debacle? Excellent question.

Either way I hope they cancel schools. Too big a risk with no one coming forward to suggest they have learned from the last bad experience. Just silence from the mayor.
I was bummed out to see kids recklessly being used to promote scooters last summer and I hope they are not put in the line of fire tomorrow. Cancel the schools today so that school bus drivers do not experience unsafe icy roadways.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. When I was child snow days where far and few between. School was not canceled because of snow. Despite snow usually falling from November until April, you went to school. Like almost every kid in the neighborhood, you walked to school, no matter what the weather. My usual route to school was through a field that was covered in snow in the winter and full of wildflowers from early spring until they were buried in snow. Without embellishment or exaggeration there were many times when the snow in the field was up to my waist. After traversing the snow-covered field, I had to make in down a steep snow-covered slope to a road that may or may not have been plowed. My walk to school was usually a 10 minuet walk in fall, a snow free spring through April showers until June. My walk to school in snowy winters took a good 30 minuets, and sometimes longer. And then at 3 pm I walked home from school in the snow that had been falling all day long, and it was fun, most of the time.

Same here. Five days a week I took a dog sled from Nome to Fairbanks to a medium size igloo with about ten desks for me and my Eskimo buddies. Coming home at 3 in the afternoon and it would be pitch black out but still Dad would expect me to find and club a baby seal for supper. Sometimes I had to wrest it from the jaws of a big white bear but times were tough and so was I. Still, the sohcolls were better than Pittsfield because I did not have to join a gang or breath toxic air from the gym being resurfaced during class hours. And it was fun, most of the time.

Upcoming city council agenda has been posted. As someone else so appropriately labeled it, the “Snow Job” is scheduled to be presented by Ricky.
Will the mayor be present?
Who will get thrown under the bus?
Where were the city plows and DPW workers on Friday Dec. 23 and Saturday Dec. 24?
How much salt was used? (0)

In another petition, Councilor Kalinowsky has proposed a question be placed on the ballot to remove the bike lanes from Park Square to Wahconah! Bravo, well done!
