PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION MAY 19-21, 2023) — THE PLANET has several items to address today, so let’s get to it.

One and Done: We have learned that Ward 2 councilor Charles Kronick will not seek re-election this year. Sources say Kronick will put his name on the ballot, however, and “leave it there as a placeholder.” Remember, you read it here first.

———- ooo ———-

‘Vibrant, Dynamic’ North Street Strikes Again: THE PLANET received this bit of news from the office of Berkshire County D.A. Tim Shugrue. Wonder if Downtown Pittsfield Inc. cares to comment?

On the evening of Wednesday, May 17, Pittsfield Police responded to a 911 call for a reported attempted kidnapping.  A mother and her two children (a toddler and baby) were on North Street. Sharon Kranich approached the family and immediately grabbed and assaulted the toddler. The mother called 911. While on the phone with 911, the defendant then attempted to take the toddler and baby away from the mother. Kranich moved ten to fifteen feet down the street with the children at which point the mother was able to secure both children back in her (mother’s) custody. Kranich fled into a building. Shortly after Kranich was apprehended by Pittsfield Police.

Sharon Kranich (3/13/1968, no known local address) was charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and kidnapping. She was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on Thursday, May 18th. At the arraignment, the defense council requested an evaluation for competency. The court then also ordered an evaluation on criminal responsibility (meaning an evaluation determining if a defendant is not responsible for the crimes they have been charged with due to a mental disease or mental defect). Kranich was evaluated by the court clinic. The doctor found the defendant needed to be hospitalized at a facility for further evaluation. Kranich has been committed for a minimum of twenty days.

The court set a date of June 5th for a status report on the defendant’s competency to stand trial. If the medical facility determines that additional time is needed to complete their evaluation the commitment can be extended for another twenty days.  If the medical facility determines Kranich is competent, she will be brought into the custody of the Berkshire County Sherriff’s Department. In the case she is found competent, a dangerousness hearing may be heard on June 6th.

Kranich has no known address in Berkshire County. She appears to have previously resided in Nevada. Kranich has a criminal history in Las Vegas (Clark County), Nevada. The most notable occurring in 2018 when Kranich pled guilty to child abuse/neglect in Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County Nevada.

1st Assistant Marianne Shelvey, assisted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Giarolo. represented the Commonwealth. Victim Witness Advocate Director, Jane Kibby-Peirce, served as advocate on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office. The Pittsfield Police Department were the responding law enforcement agent.

———- ooo ———-

No Reply: Speaking of Downtown Pittsfield Inc., on Wednesday, we ran a satiric piece on DPI’s annual meeting. THE PLANET gave them a love tap, which they took as a sledge hammer to the noggin. Anyway, to make sure DPI had every opportunity to respond, we sent a personal invitation to the exec and the marketing director. Here it is:

You may have read or heard about the piece on PLANET VALENTI dealing with your annual meeting. It was critical of the organization. I ended with an invitation to respond to the piece, to “take me into the boards” by submitting a rebuttal, which I would publish on the blog. I want to personally extend the invitation to Rebecca or Kimberly (or designee). I would need copy by Thursday (5/18) 7 p.m. I’m doing this to balance out views on the topic for our readers. I am also available to meet in-person over coffee should you wish. Let me know. Thanks.

We heard nothing in reply, which we take as full agreement with our Wednesday column! Sometimes, you simply have no defense, even when the truth is shoved down your gaping craw.

You know the drill, when the email didn’t light up, we knew it was DPI not getting back to us.

———- ooo ———-

Vindication for The Don: As Syracuse Joe stumbles up aircraft steps and stares down women’s blouses, we must note the vindication of President Trump.

After nearly three years of work, Special counsel John Durham found the Justice Department and FBI should never have initiated its Trump-Russia probe, finding that the allegation to be pure fiction. The report condemned the weaponization of Justice and the FBI by the Biden Administration.

“The American Public was scammed,” Trump said, “just as it is being scammed right now by those who don’t want to see GREATNESS for AMERICA!”

———- ooo ———-

Rollins Flameout: The spectacular flameout of Rachel Rollins, pro-criminal U.S. attorney in Boston, is another maduro that has blown up in the face of Joe Biden. Rollins only won confirmation after laughing hyena Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking Senate vote Dec. 8, 2021. Rollins, who checked the right boxes on the DIE approval form, is history after a scathing Justice Department report of her egregious ethical lapses.

Blacks should be embarrassed by these “of color” grifters, people like Rollins and Monica Cannon Grant, who cynically play on woke whitey guilt to extort power and money, further dismantling what King and Malcolm X fought so hard and so long against at the cost of their lives. Just as Squeaky did here in Berkshire County, Rollins epitomized the “I’m in it for me” “protected” types. The numerous resignations of Soros-backed D.A.s across the country demonstrates that to be worthy of office, one must have more going for them than the “correct” color and/or gender.

Check out the kiss-ass letter Squeaky sent to Senate leaders regarding Ms. Unethical:

———- ooo ———-

South of the Border: President Biden’s repeal of the Trump-imposes restrictions on illegals at America’s southwest border has proven the disaster most everyone has predicted. The flood of these criminals, many fleeing their native lands because of violent legal offenses, have found America’s “free ride” just to their liking, law-abiding legal U.S. citizens be damned.

Woke liberals in a bunch of blue states want to codify laws that would give the homeless the “right” to live and squat anywhere they wish. The new laws would make it a liable offense to remove them or ask them to vacate.

You can’t warehouse them in mental institutions. You don’t want them on the streets. So what does society do?

The answer is simple. Take them out back and shoot ’em. Two in the hat instantly solves the problem for everyone.

———- ooo ———

Debt Limit: From the wires: Joe Biden is musing aloud about violating his oath of office and seizing powers not granted him by the Constitution in order to avoid negotiating with the House of Representatives. This is a shameful way for the president of a constitutional republic to act.

The so-called 14th Amendment option — to have the president issue debt not approved by Congress — doesn’t actually exist. Until 2023, nobody in the executive branch has ever pretended that it does. “I have talked to my lawyers,” Barack Obama said in 2011, and “they are not persuaded that that is a winning argument.” Left-leaning legal scholars such as Laurence Tribe once agreed. Nothing has changed but the intensity of partisanship.

THE PLANET predicts that once again, an agreement will be reach at the 11th hour. Both sides will claim victory. Both sides will blame the other for the turmoil. The only sufferers will be the American people.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

OP:

Thank you! It is not an easy decision, and comes from many months of consideration.

It is an honor to serve. I am proud of the good work I have done thus far for neighborhoods and individuals, I regret my shortfalls, and I look forward to pushing the lessons I have learned forward to the end. There is still a lot of time.

I have argued for a long time now that term limits are essential, and that the ideal term is one only. If one is satisfied with my objectives, I leave them the manual to continue this work and do it better.

I have filed a petition that makes the case for rotating all elected seats every term with a one year cooling off period. We, as the inheritors of the Baystate Commonwealth, have to regain the ancient and noble beauty of self governance. This cannot take place in the culture we have grown used to where we look for leaders to reform our institutions and hope for ballots rich with options. Single terms, I argue, are both practical and the key to invigorating both our government and our public.

I shall continue my civic work whether it is as councilor (should no one run) or as private citizen.

I posted a response – but it vanished into planetosphere. Brief repost:

Thank you Optimus P. Very kind words and warmly appreciated. Serving as councilor is a honor and it is rewarding to help neighborhoods and individuals with issues that have gone untouched for decades. I also regret my shortcomings and have much more to do.

I have long argued for term limits and maintain that the ideal is one. It’s both practical and necessary to continue the noble and ancient tradition of self governance that defined our Commonwealth. This nation is in a terrible state. Things are not good and the only way to find our way back is to invigorate our civic institutions and the public. This cannot happen when our leaders become a separate class from the public dividing us into the governed and the governors.

I filed a petition to appear on the 5/23 agenda to refer to the Charter Commission my argument as to why rotating terms for elected office are both practical and long overdue.

Readers here should watch the Budget Hearings. They are not long or complex. You will see who your candidates actually are and for what they stand.

Charles you did your best.Hold your head up high. Jesus christ himself couldn’t move the 8 gobsig councilors you had to contend with.
.The general public is filled with cowards who couldn’t or wouldn’t come to your aid, when you were telling it like it was. I myself feel like I am banging my head against the wall also
I say I am fighting for the kapanskis but who are the kapanskis. The people who don’t vote? I will try my hardest to knock off the two gobsigs I will be facing. The kapanskis where the he’ll are you. We need to have a clean sweep at city hall and start all over again. The kapanskis where the he’ll are you? Get to CC meetings vote for new people. The city’s future is at stake. Vote in the wrong people this time and you will experience what a real nightmare is. Get off you asses and do something for yourself and your city

He is telling it like it is. And he is right. I like people who are up front even if it is a tad harsh. This city needs that and not people who say one thing and do another. Most of this city council is a charade. This particular one does not come close to being representative of the people on a real level. And the really sad thing about it is that they know it and knew it when they signed on.

No gimmick, but I understand your concern.

I am not seeking a second term. However, if candidates do not present in Ward 2, I will accept a second term, and I will continue with the same diligence.

I am doing this (securing a space on the ballot) because my decision came late, and I did not communicate this decision in advance. Therefore, I do feel it is not good to leave the ward potentially hanging.

I am proud of the first woman to hold the elected position of Berkshire County District Attorney named Andrea Harrington, who is my fellow 1993 high school graduate from Taconic High School (I graduated from Pittsfield High School that same year). The words written about her on this blog were mean-spirited, untrue, and harmful. She helped the people who were in the most need that are otherwise always are ignored by the political establishment, which obviously does NOT give a shit about the local people, families and taxpayers. Dan Bosley’s letter to the editor last Fall 2022 was the height of hypocrisy. When he was a North Adams State Representative many years ago, Dan Bosley voted for Speakers of the Massachusetts State House who later became Convicted Felons. Dan Bosley is a greed-ball lobbyist in Boston (and beyond) who also collects a state public pension plus perks. Similar to Dan Bosley, Sherwood Guernsey is a former Williamstown State Representative who wrote a letter to the editor against Andrea Harrington late last year. Sherwood Guernsey is an old wealthy latte limousine liberal who criticized one of his own uber liberal politicians in Andrea Harrington. Lastly, I wrote to Andrea Harrington last year that she should sue blogger Dan Valenti for the horrible things that he wrote about her on this blog. I wrote to her that if blogger Dan Valenti wrote that “the Jonathan Melles of the world are responsible for the mass shooting at Uvalde, Texas”, then I would sue him for every penny he is worth and then give all of his money to the families in Uvalde, Texas. For that, blogger Dan Valenti banned me from posting on this blog for a couple of weeks until my reinstatement.

I had served upon one of her juries. I dispute your characterization “helped the people who were in the most need”. The object of her fury was needing just treatment which was granted not by the prosecution but by the jury.

Mayor Tyer has enough taxpayer money to run that river underground. Run it right under the stadium and advertise it as iconic. Only baseball park in America with a river running under it. And it solves the problem of a wet parking lot.
Ah, but Waconah also has a problem with the sun in the evening. May I suggest two sizable hot air balloons floating with a humongous tarp hanging down between them just to the west of the stadium between 6-8pm. Who would not come to a game to see that? And there could be go go girls dancing in the balloons. And before every game the mayor could read out proclamations honoring hard working city council puppets. Is it too late for a redesign?

You may not be able to put lipstick on a pig but you can put lotsa dollars in peoples pockets. Waconah park (as most other park venues in Pittsfield) are money dumps, places to make needed or unneeded repairs and upgrades and divy up some of the Kapanski cash cows innards.

Curious that this park has been around for a hundred years and along comes Tyer and Waconah Park starts to fall apart. (after tens of thousands of dollars being continually poured into it) How strange is that? Whadda coinkydink huh?

I wunner what an independent second opinion of the parks stability might show.

I too find it a funny coincidence all of a sudden the grandstand needs so much work. Where have the building inspectors been? Parks dept? Maintenance dept? Probably doesn’t matter anyways. Just a matter of time before a houseless person discovers it and before you know it houseless lightning hits and POOF!. Wahconah is gone. Oh wait, we can build a new better one….. and it goes on.

And this is why the special interests recruit and vet and fund people who they know will rubber stamp as they are told to. This is why they are so nasty to anyone (like Charles, or Melissa) who are arrogant enough to ask questions or shine any light on dubious projects. If you are a person who wants to run for office in Pittsfield, and your objective has anything to do with due diligence, you will be shunned, disrespected and slandered. People know this is what they would be up against and is the main reason the city is run upside down.

and sadly, there is really very little that can be done about it at this point and is why after watching this get worse every year, My advice is to cut your losses and get the hell away from here. This place has become a losing cause and only you can decide if you want to go down with this ship. Let all the new unaware people moving in have it.

There are at least a half dozen city councilors who are there for all the wrong reasons. They are their to feather their own nests at the expense of the people who were foolish enough to trust them. Hopefully karma will do unto them as they have done unto others, for they are true shitbags and the type of people who contribute to socially dysfunctional societies.

Kronick: WHY? We needed you man.

North Street Kidnapping: WTF? That’s extremely disturbing. As much as people complain about the vagabonds and unsavory black market on North, for the most part people’s lives and liberties are not being threatened. A broad daylight kidnapping and assault is a whole new level of WHOA.

It got a bit buried in yesterday’s post but there was an excellent letter to the editor regarding North Street’s demise in such a short time. It should be reposted in this current thread.

North Street isn’t even a ghost town anymore. Ghosts are pleasant. It’s a cemetery now. Death. Zombies. Decay.

Anyone notice how the train station now has chain link fences barricading the public from sitting on their benches? What a wonderful first impression from those flying in on the Flyer from New York. “The Bucolic Berkshires”

When the mayor got elected her and her paramour could not move away from her city fast enough. She moved right near the Hancock property line so she would not have to be near the very people she promised to work for. In hindsight, that was the biggest RED FLAG she could possible have hoisted and now we are paying for our ignorance in electing her.

Not gonna change when she leaves either peeps. If you stay in Pittsfield you will continue to find special interest tire tracks up and down your back all day, every day, but especially when the taxes and fees bills come out. Do what you need to do. Lots of nice small towns in the Berkshires that have less drug activity, less gangbanger activity, better sochols, much more responsible government representation and you will just feel better about yourself. And it is true that the longer you wait to decide the deeper you will become stuck in the quicksand. Leave Pittsfield to the cannibals who run it.

The “why” is patiently waiting for Valenti’s approval as it absorbs radiation from geospherical emissions. (I learned a new word today at BIC!) Do not seek leaders – claim your heritage of self-governance and lead. You have life experience, strong morals, and Common Sense – what else do you need?

You’re good enough, smart enough, and doggone it people like you!

I showed you good folk what to do and how. Question, challenge, suggest, demand time, be reasonable. Be willing to be wrong, and you will be right more often because a leader has courage which is the bedrock for adherence to principle. I further showed that you can take insults and slander and it won’t break you. You’ll leave them gasping, like the coward ‘Quick Take’ in the end.

Be bold and step up – it’ll make a man/woman out of you!

He was merely trying to ladder climb and was willing to grab the first ladder that came along regardless of the risks. He is doing the same thing with his mayoral backers…frantically trying to climb upwards regardless of whom he may have to associate with. That picture of him in the theater with our failed mayor was another grasp at high society relevance. He does not want be kept in the lower levels of common folk as he feels a tad superior. Dan, any chance you could ask the DA to give you a copy of the racial kidnapping hoax at Simon’s Rock College a couple of years ago?

Kindergarden kept mentioning “white supremacy” and white power propaganda being passed out in the burbs in all his responses to me in your last post.

As I pointed out to him yesterday, I knew he was trying to bait me to say something racially discriminatory towards black people. It’s why he kept interjecting race into EVERY reply to me from him.

I want to show him what facts look like. Not just him telling me about his perception of white power. Funny, the. BBEC gets a $700,000 ARPA gift and now he knows everything that goes on in the suburbs.

I’ve lived in the burbs all of my life and have NEVER seen and/or witnessed any white power propaganda at my house or in my mailbox.

So, K-provide the neighborhood (zip code) in which this occurred that you KNOW of. Not “heard of.” Id like to research it myself.

You asked me to state me question clearly to you K. There you go. We’ll start with that one.

Reading comprehension is required though. I’m not your cliff-notes version of The Planet.

Thanks

Issue is the old problem of dying cities leaving people, probably disproportionately black (not pittsfield), with few opportunities and struggling to keep their children safe.

I spoke with many afro-Americans who asked me how we can keep their teenage children safe from gangs, pot, and make their creative and educational worlds fulfilling.

They are looking for answers and they frustrated that the city ignores them.

I have friends and colleagues in rural Indiana and Illinois who had wc flyers placed in their mailboxes, causing their school systems to have to develop curricular materials for teachers to offset the information in those flyers. It has happened in other (Houston, Hartford) as well. Just google ‘white supremacy flyers’ and you’ll see plenty.

Also, there were posts to this site a couple of months ago denigrating the speech, hair, IQ and culture of black Americans – posts that the readers of this blog did not criticize or thumb-down. They are reading this and hiding. Need more?

Sorry Markus but my responses keep getting censored. I’ll try again. I have friends and colleagues in rural Indiana and Illinois who have white supremacist flyers put in their mailboxes. It was so prevalent that their school boards had to design and distribute curricular materials to offset the rantings in the flyers. The same type of flyers were passed out in the Hartford and Houston suburbs. This may not happen a lot in Massachusetts. Just google ‘white supremacist flyers’ and you’ll see all you need to see.

Also, on this blogsite 2-3 months ago were posts denigrating the language, culture, hair and intelligence of our black citizens. Most worrisome was that these posts were not criticized or ‘thumbs-downed’ by our readers.

We also have the white supremacict postings on the websites of many of the mass shootings such as the Pittsburg temple and the TOPS grocery in Buffalo.

And then we have the Charlottesville marchers and the website of the driver there who plowed his car into the crowd, killing several.

White supremacy permeates our culture, Markus. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. I hope Dan lets this one through.

“The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience.” – Albert Camus

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Gay Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has announced he will be taking another 6 months of parental leave following his adoption of a section of I-95 south of D.C.

“My husband Chasten and I are proud to announce we have adopted a highway,” said the history-making first gay Transportation Secretary Buttigieg, who is gay. We look forward to the much-needed personal family time we will enjoy in the coming months and ask for privacy during this beautiful chapter in our lives.”

Pete and Chasten told reporters they will step away until November to spend some special family time with their new highway, including “litter removal, grass cutting, and breastfeeding.” Buttigieg promised to return as soon as possible to continue his fight against racist roads and bridges.

At publishing time, the couple had announced they were taking yet another 6 months of leave to adopt a Build-A-Bear.

Great article! I always knew that Obama was behind so much of what is happening in this country. This article and the interview he gave the other day makes it clear that he is the mastermind behind changing everything in this country to appease the globalists and give them complete power over us. He stays awake at night worrying that his far left globalist media isn’t completely controlling the minds of all Americans. Independent thought must be abolished and Obama said in the interview that he has sleepless nights worrying that he and Soros can’t completely control all of the media messaging to the public in this country. He’s gone off the deep end.

The Supervisor of Riverhead, NY, Yvette Aguiar issued an emergency declaration banning hotels & other facilities from housing illegal immigrants. “Taxpayers simply cannot withstand further demand on our public services” i.e. schools, hospitals & infrastructure.
Thankfully your MCLA decided against using their towers for housing illegals. Why doesn’t your Pittsfield Mayor & City Council issue such an emergency declaration? Your city is about the same size as Riverhead and deeply in the red.
Just remember, pretty boy Krol worked hard during his term as city councilor to bring unvetted Syrian refugees to Pittsfield.

How in the world do you remember this? True enough, I did make the tackle. One of the few times Brown didn’t run for a touchdown. They killed us that game, and we had a good team. Two weeks before West Point beat us by a touchdown, and they had a future Heisman Trophy winner playing halfback. He was a sophomore. I forgot his name.
Year was 1956.We had two guys, Jack Call and Bob Jamieson, who were drafted by pro teams Colts and Astros. Though Syracuse made mincemeat of Colgate in 1956 we were not patsies. That’s how good Syracuse was in Jim Brow’s senior year. They went to the Cotton Bowl and lost to Texas Christion by a single point 28 -27.

BOSTON — Prostitution would be decriminalized in Massachusetts under bills discussed before the Judiciary Committee this week, though there is a deep divide among sex workers and activists about how far that decriminalization should go.

Two bills filed this session would decriminalize prostitution. One, however, would only repeal criminal penalties that apply to prostitutes themselves, leaving those who sell and purchase sex (“pimps” and “johns”) open to arrest and prosecution. Another bill filed by Rep. Lindsay Sabadosa seeks to entirely legalize the sex trade.

In response to Mr. Fritz’s post: Too bad Valenti didn’t ban you for life from his blog.
Waiting for Bosley, Nucifero & Guernsey to sue you for slander.

Blogger Dan Valenti and many posters have libeled and slandered Andrea Harrington, but when I write about the corrupt political establishment’s public record and hypocritical letters to the editor, I read that “Bosley, [“Luciforo”] & Guernsey [should] sue [me] for slander”.

Sarcasm: I thought that was the job of Mayor Linda Tyer’s third husband, the multimillionaire CPA Barry Clairmont, who is suing Melissa Mazzeo for defamation of his character a little less than four years after the 2019 municipal election that his second wife, Linda Tyer, won.

Unlike Barry Clairmont, I never sued “Luciforo” or anyone else connected to his abusive and corrupt political network for defamation of my character and related alleged wrongdoings over the past 27 years of my adult life.

If the corrupt political establishment actually sued me for slander, it would be very interesting to me given all that I went through at their dirty hands in Pittsfield politics to the secretive Golden Dome on Beacon Hill.

Hell would freeze over before “Bosley, [“Luciforo”] & Guernsey” would write a letter to the editor criticizing the corrupt political establishment because then they would have to look at themselves in the proverbial mirror of self-reflection instead of only unfairly blaming the Andrea Harringtons and Jon Melles of the political world for participating freely in our government.

Despite what any of these narcissistic delusions of grandeur patients believe, none of them are winners. But some of them are bigger losers. Only 41.78% of registered voters allegedly cast ballots in the 2015 election. And the actual number of ballots legitimated cast in 2019 is probable even less. But in the 2015 bogus election the electroshocked water wizard allegedly received an embarrassing 57 votes. Thus, making him one of the biggest losers. One would think that after winning his $50 Million defamation lawsuit he could have easily bought the election. But maybe he’s saving that $50 Million, along with the other gazillions he’s reaped from patenting his invention of water for his old age, or maybe he things he can take it with him when he goes. On the identity of Satan’s mother, my guess is she’s a harlot named HELL-en. That makes much more sense.

Can you explain the terrible conditions of the roads, sidewalks, the lack of business, the closing of businesses, the beggars on the streets, the unsafe streets, the drug infested North Street, the lack of traffic control, the lack of police officers, the crumbling of public buildings and parks, the needle infested lakefronts, the homeless epidemic, the failing schools and I could go on and on. Where has all the pot money gone? Why did Linda not hold a State of the City this year? Was she embarrassed? Did she have nothing to talk about? Was she hiding out of town again? Was she locked in her office? Or does she just not care? Since we can’t get any answers from Linda or the Clownsil, how about you answer these questions Mr. Worldwide since you think so much of these a-holes that have ruined our City. The CoLAs are the tip of the proverbial iceberg. All of the other public perks are the expensive part. The largest employer in Pittsfield is the City of Pittsfield. The city’s OPEB unfunded liabilities are in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Next year, the retired Mayor Linda Tyer will be collecting her 6-figure city public pension plus perks. After either Peter Marchetti or John Krol retire from being the next Mayor of Pittsfield in the future years to come, one of them will also go onto collect his 6-figure city public pension plus perks. The local taxpayers will pay for all of the city public pay pensions plus perks instead of saving their hard-earned money for their own retirement.

Matt Kerwood’s city salary will be $114,329 beginning on July 1st, 2023. Linda Tyer’s salary will be $115,725 beginning on July 1st, 2023. Then add 30 years plus their city pension CoLAs for these two “public payroll patriots” and you will have a financial figure of over $7 million that will paid for by city taxpayers until around 2055. Then times 7 million dollars times a couple of hundred more city personnel and you will see a financial figure of over $500 million to $1 billion.

You, Charles Ivar Kronick, should run for a high paying elected position in Pittsfield politics to feather your own retirement nest egg instead of telling city taxpayers that they will be taxed to death, while Linda Tyer and Matt Kerwood will enjoy a wonderful retirement at their expense.

You are correct about the scales of costs, opeb. Those issues are why School Com TSC is also correct when he says our taxes are the highest in mass. City debt is the highest in mass of all mass munis. Our budget is largely servicing the debt. Therefore, our taxes are high relative to what they would be were the city in better financial stewardship.

And if you plan to stay and live in Pittsfield you will be a long time part owner of this exorbitant debt. And your forced contributions will come out of money you would rather use to support your family. It is a losing situation that no sane money manager would encourage for one of his clients. Look up “indentured servant” to see what your future in Pittsfield is going to be.

Get out now, because there is NO help on the way! NONE!

You are an absolute fool.

Pittsfield citizens are by no means paying the “highest taxes” in MA.

Not tax rate and not tax bill.

https://www.masslive.com/data/2021/04/here-are-the-50-massachusetts-communities-with-the-highest-property-tax-bills.html?outputType=amp

You are dangerously stupid when it comes to municipal finance and taxes.

That’s again a bunch of BS AND if that’s what he wanted to say he could have said that himself, he didn’t. It’s like when he said that a NFP moving into a leased space took it off the tax rolls. Another Kronick screwup.

If we were to adjust for income, Amherst would beat Pittsfield, as would Springfield, adjusted for poverty level and taxes.
But why would you even do that, most at poverty level aren’t paying property taxes or are getting substantial discounts in their taxes.

North Adams, although one basis point off on poverty, is ten percent lower income and higher in property tax. Even in Berkshire county, North Adams is worse off.

Dan, QT is an emotional wreck.

Justine Dodds agreed with me that servicenet pays less personal property tax than a restaurant with high capital items (ovens, exhaust, refridgeration) compared with office equipment. We also agreed that SN was appropriately located per the downtown planning. No issue with ServiceNet. That is, there is no issue with ServiceNet. That means, whether it is ServiceNet or Flavours to choose from – the decision belongs to the landlord. I’d draw a picture for him, but he’s an emotional man and pictures will give him unpleasant dreams.

QT is really not a very intelligent person, (want stupid, think QT) but in passion he scores well. Oh yes, even his musings of Harrington evoke his passion. Maybe, he is not the pimp but the spurned lover?

Why would I look up ‘joes’ website or masslive concoction when there is DLS data?

There are your make believe things you call facts, and then the reality.

North Adams has a higher tax rate, has less income per person by 20%, and is so very very close on poverty.

The poorest and highest taxed municipality in Berkshire county is North Adams, Pittsfield is a distant second.

If you can’t figure you must be senile.

More needed is a cap on employees. Has anyone kept count the number of no-work positions Tyer added? Though they’d probably just launder the money through consultants

Could be the pop tarts. True that.

Maybe I should propose restricting School Committee candidates to not just the age of majority and age of a Senator, but past the age that is often addicted to poptarts. The Poptart Clause?

School Comm should (ideally) be parents and property owners. Parents are the primary interest group who know what belongs in the schools, and tax payers understand the costs of administrative budgets.

However, reality is more forgiving than ideals and there are a lot of school personnel who are dismayed by the spending on admins.

Actually Dan, this mess has a good point but he/she (it – could be/sounds like a bot) misses it. By rotating every term, young people with thin skins would be attracted to public service and also not have to encounter burnt out cowards such as MM, WW, QT. QT is a councilor, no less – the one who plays both sides.

In short – too messy. Too soon to criticize.

One of the highest in the Commonwealth. No wonder Beacon Hill keeps pumping cash in – they are terrified of the day of reckoning.
