DEI, JUNETEENTH: ONE IS ONGOING, THE OTHER IS FINALLY OVER … FURTHER DIVIDING PEOPLE SET BACK THE CAUSE OF REFORM

PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY JUNE 21, 2023) — Backers cite historical balancing as a rationale for DEI offices. They claim to be helping “underrepresented and historically excluded identities.” The evidence suggests otherwise, as we have previously shown.

The quote, taken from Picklefield’s DEI page on the city’s official website, unwittingly confesses to the office’s greatest flaw.

Identity politics.

Such governmental meddling worsens the divisions that separate “classes” of people, expands the power of government over the sacredness of individuality, and deepens stereotypes.

DEI forces government to base decisions not on qualitative factors or abilities but on skin color, sexuality, and other discriminatory factors. This, advocates claim, balances out historical injustices.

Not true. It resurrects and perpetuates them.

DEI may have honorable intentions (Lord help us), but as an official government function, it buries these initiatives in bureaucracy and administration. The good intentions are seized upon as justification of lost opportunities, and quickly it turned into a racket.

This is the latest grift woke opportunists have manufactured to exploit racial/social injustice. THE PLANET knows it and so do all free, independent people who dare think for themselves.

———- ooo ———-

Such public-policy programs fail.

  • The key to reforming entrenched, hostile attitudes lies within the human heart and only there. The transformation, if it is ever to come about, begins internally and proceeds outward. Legislated attempts from outside do not penetrate the heart.
  • Self-righteous DEI fever began with the death of George Floyd and engulfed America with thoughtless, blinding speed, leading to emotional, knee-jerk reactions cleverly presented to “cancel” reasonable questioning with respect to the serious problem of social injustice.
  • DEI requires of public officials and public engagement a blind adherence, primarily because of fear — the very definition of totalitarianism.
  • DEI fosters segregation not equity.
  • DEI Deals in theory, not actuality.
  • DEI practices favoritism based on skin color, gender, or self-proclaimed orientations that defy common sense, reason, and logic.
  • “Cancels”  those it metes as enemies.
  • By lumping people into identity groups and ignoring individuals, DEI instills and perpetuates permanent victimhood. This is precisely the opposite what King, Malcolm X, and the Black Panthers preached. The woke grifters have undone that great work and set back the cause of reform more than any other group, movement, initiative, or social factor.

Left unsaid in society’s twisted grappling with race is the long history of black-on-black violence. DEI advocates ignore it. Black history ignores it. Juneteenth ignores it.

———- ooo ———-

Juneteenth is the latest affront to thoughtful, thinking people. Joe Biden’s shameless pandering made it a national holiday two years ago. Prior to that, the day was a precious, private, localized event with true meaning. Now it’s commercialized in the ugly American way, like other national holidays.

Here’s an excerpt from a think piece by Ernest Owens in The Daily Beast.

Juneteenth organizers in Pittsburgh are now accusing Pennsylvania legislators and their city government of discrimination regarding last-minute mandates for vendors and security. In Tennessee, some legislators are threatening sponsors—such as Nashville International Airport (BNA)—to divest from backing local Juneteenth festivals or face public retaliation for supporting “radical agendas.”

In so many ways, the desire to mainstream Juneteenth has now led to much of its press and publicity being met with pandering or controversy. It reminds me of Black History Month, when perhaps there was a moment in time in which America tried to take the shortest timeframe of the year seriously to acknowledge the contributions of Black people. Or perhaps Juneteenth has quickly descended into the rainbow capitalism vibes of Pride month—during which more of the festivities are being monetized for high visibility, without any intentional focus on the community.

And from Danielle Moody:

So, great, more people know about Juneteenth—but how does that actually ensure the very freedoms and concepts of emancipation for Black Americans that the holiday speaks of?

Translation: Less means more when it comes to observing Juneteenth—because our nation’s current infatuation with it is causing more harm than good.

Owens and Moody are black.
———- ooo ———-

Juneteenth had something to do with slaves in Texas finally getting word that they had been freed. But the slaves who were in states loyal to the union got to keep their slaves until after the war when the 13th amendment to the constitution was passed. That was the end of slavery not some dopey June holiday.

The point of Juneteenth is to celebrate the real ending of slavery, since slavery did not end in Houston when most of the slaves were freed.

It is kind of funny in a sad way but if you talk to black people (I use this as the government does on all their forms) who have immigrated to America they find the people and systems in place wonderful! They come and work hard in many professions and make a good life for themselves that they are happy about their accomplishments and the friendships that they make. When talking to them they say the biggest issue they face is from the blacks from America. They say they are lazy and in the gangs. They don’t understand why they can’t do as they did, get a good education and be industrious. The African immigrants tell me America is the country you can improve your living condition if you are willing to do the work!

that was over 10 generations ago. As many in the black community have stated it’s time to educate themselves and become participating members of society instead of living the “thug life”. For some reason they have not as a whole been able to make that shift. As noted before some have been able to ply themselves and become productive citizens others take the criminal path

Certain people and the politicians that are pushing DEI don’t actually want an end to racism because they LOVE “fighting” against it. That’s only part of the reason why these people support policies that in the long run, harm the very people they claim to care about. It’s job security for the politicians via votes from the black community and a money maker for some. How can these people be for the victims if you don’t have or victims?

Dan, I nominate this post for a newly proposed, The Planet’s “Dirty Barry Clairmont award.”

This award recognizes those who have their head up their ar$e on a daily basis and acts of buffoonery have come to be expected and are the norm for this person.

Frivolous lawsuits, Getting lost in city hall on election night, patrolling Cumby’s at 3AM on a Sunday night and declaring the city “safe,” have set the bar very, very, low, but this post above by TSC….WOW!!

And I quote TSC, “Fox…….have had a 40 year fake white people matter all day everyday holidays Republican use any issue to keep poor people voting for them….”

A couple of questions for you TSC, (1) what’s a fake white people? My guess, former DA Andrea “Wrong Way” Harrington. She’s a fake white person IMO. (2) what is an “everyday holidays?” I was only aware there were certain holidays throughout the year. Did China Joe Xiden make Juneteenth or Pride month an “eveyrday holidays,” that I was unaware of?

A Picklesfield Public Scohol edubacation at its finest. Be proud TSC!! You truly “earned” your HS diploma.

“underrepresented and historically excluded identities”
By definition this should include poor people of any color, disabled people and any color, and Jewish people of any color.
Yet from all these DEI people, there is nothing but crickets in regards the two local teachers who are leaving their public school jobs due to anti-Semitism from their students.
We know anti-jewish sentiment is increasing here in the United States; where are our DEI people?
Locally people living in poverty and outside are consistently vilified on local FB groups, we have a ridiculous amount o redundancy of services available for the poor and unhoused locally, and we have a brand new homeless shelter ready to go and the opening of it is being consistently and continually delayed by our local government.
As this is an incredibly underrepresented— wait no, not at all represented —class of people, why do we not hear from DEI On any aspect of local homelessness and panhandling?
Is there not a training OB could be offering the community about how to empathize with the 200 people in Pittsfield who cannot avail themselves of housing due to the Tyer fire’s love of gentrification, i e, market rate housing?
Redlining people who live in poverty from housing is a real thing, and just being done locally through blockbusting and requiring a certain amount of money in a person’s bank account every month that is three times what the monthly rent is. Since redlining transferable from communities of color to communities that are impoverished how come we’re not talking about that, as redlining is such a big deal to DEI people?
Why is nobody speaking out from the DEI camps about the atrocious curb cuts on Tyler Street while it is under construction, or even about how reconstruction of sidewalks is excluding people from engaging with their neighborhood?
If Juneteenth and Xmas and Easter are federal holidays, all three of which acknowledge and or celebrate acknowledge and celebrate types of emancipations, why isn’t Passover?Because DEI people are gaslighting us, and exploiting people for financial gain.

I’ll try, snark. The black-on-black violence in the big cities is a terrible thing, and any right-thinking person would want to get rid of it. But how is that to be done? My own view is to fund social programs, such as intramural sports leagues, big brother mentoring programs and high school tutoring and mentoring programs.

But, the relation between black-on-black city violence and DEI is orthogonal – that is, they are unrelated. Dan and others above keep saying, when the issue of DEI is raised, ‘what about young blacks killed in the cities?’ …… well, what about it? It’s unrelated to DEI, even though everyone, including DEI advocates, wants it gone. The same people of color who promote DEI can’t magically get rid of black-on-black, even though they want it gone just like the rest of us.

The questions are legit, and reveal that you believe that the inner city problems are related to tribal problems in Africa. That is what you believe.

Maybe republican-run cities IS the answer, with stiffer prosecution of crimes. The problem is, when that model was in force it resulted in a different type of error – too many black men incarcerated for lesser crimes due to anti-black bias.

Curious as to what is being done by black people in black communities to stop black on black crime. Trying to comprehend why when one black man is hurt by one white man it is national news sometimes resulting in riots but then you have these almost daily shootings within the black community (violence on their own people) and black people seem to want to push that side of the story aside.
I just want to understand the thought process because if you don’t want to talk about black on black crime it definitely undermines your argument that whitey is the problem. If someone can explain that to me so that it makes sense I would appreciate it.

And Kindergarden I do not see it as an apples and oranges thing.

Our school district had to create materials for teachers to offset the trash talk on the leaflets. We brought the materials our district created to our local congress representative (a republican) and he didn’t want to hear about it. Fringe? Hard to say. Snark: Not exactly apples and oranges, but they are separated by a degree of difference. It is for the same reason that a racial slur of an ethnic group does not count as a slur if it is spoken by a member of that same ethnic group. We assume that a black man killing a black man isn’t due to racial animus. We can’t make the same assumption when a white man kills a black man (and vice-versa).

This is the case across the country, with the extreme left obsessing about the skin color of criminals. leftists do not want “justice” for those folks; “justice” requires that criminals be treated as their actions warrant. Pat, though you and your ilk don’t want to believe or admit it, Adam Schiff and his committee were right on target. The msm are main stream because they get it right, and the opposition media make $$ by serving their audience, telling them what they want to hear, this website included.

The 86,000 IRS agents are currently going after Americans while ignoring millionaires like Biden’s son who didn’t pay taxes for 2 years.
