PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

Part Three of a Three-Part Series

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION JuLY7-9, 2023) — THE PLANET begins The Weekend Edition in this fast-reeling summer with this, received from the Pittsfield Police Department:

page1image11966352

It’s bad enough that the driver struck and seriously injured this person, of course, but what makes it infuriating is that he didn’t stop to check on Turnage. He booked it, and there’s NO EXCUSE for that type of wormy behavior. It’s become a world of “I will sue you,” as well as one driven by the increasing dehumanization of our environment due to the distancing of technology.

THE PLANET sends our wishes for a full recovery to Turnage.

———- ooo ———-

A reader sent THE PLANET this video, with the message: “It’s still relevant.”

This is the debate we hosted on Oct. 29, 2015, between mayor Dan Bianchi and challenger Linda Tyer. Give it a gander. Is it still relevant?

———- ooo ———-

Some random, utterly inconsequential observations from the special meeting:

  • Baggy: Maffuccio looks like he’s wearing the same suit he wore when he was 300 pounds heavier. Maybe a visit to Steven Valenti is in order. A Go Fund Me for Tony is in order.
  • Snazzy: Earl Persip took fashion honors: pink sports jacket with white window-pane print, sky blue shirt, and a dark-colored tie. The lad cut a rug. Only thing missing: the lapel carnation.
  • Sleeves: Kronick came without jacket but didn’t roll up his shirtsleeves. It would have made a theatrical gesture, sort of like a lawyer in summation taking off his glasses. Chaz must have known the fix was in.
  • Pound: After the meeting, THE PLANET chatted with Mayor Tyer. PLANET: “One of your favorite things to do on a warm, summer night, eh: Spend it here with this group.” TYER:”Yeah, giving up my pound of flesh.”
  • Innocence: We sat behind Ricky Ostellino, the only person in the city who could run for any office and be unanimously elected. Ricky will make a good write-in vote for mayor!
  • Mensche: Kudos to Kevin Sherman for taking good care of Ricky, whose mother recently died. The act of loving speaks far more eloquently than the words. Way to go, Kev.
  • Lame: Kalinowsky, supposed stalwart of the people, painted by the numbers in an unusually subdued appearance. Why was she coasting? Did our column the other day remove some of Kal’s starch?
  • Smirk: From the stands, we could see Kerwood laughing and smirking when Kronick spoke. Real professional of you, Mr. Finance Director. Not a good look at all, Matthew.
  • Rolling: In yet another outbreak of der kronick frenzi, Lampiasi couldn’t control her eyeballs. Her glazzies did more rolls than a drunk stunt flyer at a Texas air show.
  • Prioities: THE PLANET had chatted up interim police chief Thomas Dawley, kidding him about the need to attend such gatherings. Dawley pointed his badge: “It says police, not politician.” Nice line!
  • Oratory: White’s comments were among the best he’s made from the dais. Pete spoke with authority, in a voice louder than typical, and with an articulateness we haven’t seen from him to date.
  • Rules: Marchetti ran a good meeting, strong and managerial.  When in doubt, Peter resorted to council rules and Demeter. Actually, the only Demeter THE PLANET cares about is Don, former Red Sox centerfielder.

———- ooo ———-

Representative government doesn’t work when citizens do not participate.

In the upcoming elections, why should we expect anything different from previous exercises in pointlessness?

The self-chosen disenfranchisement of the majority of Picklefield citizens guarantees that the muck will only deepen.

There will be no state elections this November, no one up for Congress, and the presidential race is next year. Election 2023 threatens to be a low-turnout deal, which puts things exactly where The Suits want it.

As always, you get the government you deserve.

The tantalizing thing of it is that it could all be changed in a flash. Though they have lost sight of it, and though many people probably don’t even know it, We The People are the ultimate power brokers.

We are either power brokers, or power will break us.

Which shall it be? We think we know the answer.

Have a great weekend, everybody.

————————————————————————–

I believe that all government is evil, and trying to improve it is largely a waste of time” — H. L. Mencken.

Marchetti has run up record debt and killed dreams retired Pittsfield homeowners had .All retirees expect is just one thing and it is the respect of the Mayor and council .Instead we have a Marchetti wanting my vote for his council financially abusing the elderly only for him to retire on a huge paycheck. How about we freeze residential home owner taxes at age 66 for 5 year periods and increasing them in 5 years at 40% of the new taxes. This will help stop his Senior financial abuse .Marchetti will never talk about taxes.Stop subsidizing landlords on North street.Let the market set the rents. How many homes in Pittsfield have been bought by Wall Street who are creating monopolized Corp. slum lord rentals….Marchetti thinks everyone makes 90k

Consider this possibliity. Pete Marcheeti gets to be mayor and his other brother Pete White is council VP. No reason to believe White is going to question anything any more than Marchetti did. Two special interest peas in a pod.

How did you like Marchetti‘s response during Dan’s interview with him and Krol about why he isn’t or hasn’t pushed back on the Tyer’s budgets? Where he said, something like well they’re her budgets. That response made about as much sense as a soup sandwich!

What he meant to say was that he does not have the balls to do the job he ran for and got elected for. It is that simple. And do you think he will as mayor, be able to say no to the people behind the scenes working to get him elected?

The answer is HELL NO!! He will continue to allow the special interest to eat the taxpayers alive and after all isn’t that why he is being propped up in the first place?

And no one knows this better than he does. Ask him point blank and watch his body language and stuttering.

Strong and managerial my ass!!!

“Well they’re her budgets.”

Good catch! That sums up my criticism of the council because it sees no purpose beyond getting a Mayor’s agenda stamped. This problem runs throughout City Hall. No checks between Mayor and Council. Council lawyer is also the Mayor’s office lawyer causing inconsistency. No checks/controls across financial departments. No internal auditor. No independent auditor (the one hired has been historically hired by Finance.)

I find it hard to blame him given his circumstances. He’s in an impossible situation. The Council could hire their own separate attorney, with focus on muny law and then Pagnatto would handle city business, contracts, etc….

He has two bosses.

The First Law of Lawyers: Not your lawyer, not your friend.

He was hired by City of Pittsfield by the Mayor. He’s her friend. He comes to Council meetings to advise. He’s still her lawyer. Not my friend, as they say.

It might seem to some that this whole adminstration has been built to order using friends, lackeys, known rubber stampers and useful compliant idiots. They seem to head every department and every important office. Almost every key position in the city is tied into one bundle designed to work together to forward a certain type of agenda.

And sadly, that agenda is not one that is designed to give the taxpayer what it thought it was getting. Quite the opposite some might say.

And if the coming election goes as they plan nothing will change for the hard working people of Pittsfield.

In Pittsfield politics, the over $205.6 bloated municipal budget is now 6 days old. On Beacon Hill, the over $55 billion excessive state budget is now 6 days late. In the Swamp, the national debt is over $32,335,958,000,000.00.

Beacon Hill’s corrupt and secretive career politicians have not met in formal session in over 2 months: May, June and so far in early-July 2023. The Swamp’s K Street funded wealthy career politicians will meet again in formal session next week through the end of July before taking their August recess until after Labor Day in September 2023. It is and will be a taxpayer-funded summer vacation for our do-nothing elected officials!

I wonder if I could go back in time 247 years ago and I told the Founding Fathers and Founding Mothers about today’s local, state and federal government in the U.S.A., would they tell me that they are happy to live in the 18th Century instead of the 21st Century? Back then, the people only paid around 2 weeks of their yearly income in taxes to the government. There were no career politicians. There was no big government in the new U.S.A. Today, most people pay many months of their yearly income to the government. There are many career politicians. And in return, the common people of mid-2023 receive “a shit sandwich” from the government that they do NOT deserve!

It is no wonder why Matt Kerwood smirked at Ward 2 Charles Ivar Kronick when he spoke out in protest about Mayor Linda Tyer’s last minute multimillion-dollar revised budget appropriations to balance the city’s “cooked” books.

Speaking of the Pitttsfield budget. Can anyone list the Pittsfield budget every year for the last 20 odd years starting just before Ruberto took over and especially the last eight years. Cannot be that hard to find but I am not capable. Pete Marchettie who reads this every day could get it up here in a short council minute if he wanted to. This trajectory could be most interesting and I am hoping it can be made public against the wishes of the administration and its handlers.

Goes up roughly $10,000,000 per year at least last six years. Can’t speak for Bianchi’s terms but I believe the rate of growth was lower. Dan may be able to confirm.

Of note, the current budgets, award winning masterpieces of anti-corporate glitz, are like 500 pages. Pre powerpoint – 40 pages. Just the facts.

Bianchi required department heads to provide two budgets, one level the other desired and offered the Council to choose.

So You support unequal justice by both the Federal DOJ, AND the Federal Kangaroo courts owned by one political party, or uniparty as the RINOS are just the Jackasses in disguise.

We now have tyranny. Not justice.

“The house of representatives … can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as the great mass of society. This has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the rulers and the people together. It creates between them that communion of interest, and sympathy of sentiments, of which few governments have furnished examples; but without which every government degenerates into tyranny.”

True enough. But the first rule of thumb for their campaign managers is to bend over backwards making sure tough questions do not even get asked.
You cannot defend the indefesnible. i.e. Marchetti totally abandoned the people he swore to serve and he has zero evidence to the contrary. So please do not ask him exactly where he questioned any dubious spending please.

Second rule of thumb is to control the moderator. Get a puppet and give him or her the softball questions and tell him to praise all responses as if he is talking to God himself. If you have an in house radio lackey by all means use him as much a possible.

Isn’t it more likely that the interviewer/moderator wants to ask softball questions because he wants them to come back and also because he does not want to appear biased?

The best method is the old one. Candidates have a debate – freestyle. The moderator keeps it fair and clean.

As you know lots of things can change between now and July 28th. I have to position myself to win on the council or for mayor. I have a strategy but you may have to wait until the 28th before I decide where my best shot lays. I will be going against the entire gobsig network and I plan to be successful as mayor or councilor. against them my best opportunity to decide will come on July 27th .thank you all planet posters. Hopefully a new day is coming for the tax and rate payers as my goal is to lighten the load on all city residents. Have a nice weekend everybody

I don’t live in The Pitt, but what goes on there affects me greatly. It is disgusting what the city has become. I have to pass by the begging bums on most every corner, walk over the trash/needles on the sidewalks. Negotiate the slew of human trash of all colors to go shopping.

“Of course, this does not rule out the possibility that a family member left the coke behind before departing.
Dan Bongino says that this is exactly what happened. Bongino was in the U.S. secret service from 1999 until 2011. He was assigned to the Presidential Protection Division beginning in 2006 where he remained until his final year.

Bongino has firsthand knowledge of the extensive security checkpoints to enter the White House and only family can bypass them. For this reason, the only possibility is that a family member brought the cocaine into the West Wing.”

Re: Useless Beacon Hill corrupt career politicians’ 10-week break

Massachusetts State Representatives had initially considered holding formal sessions Thursday and Friday (July 6th & July 7th, 2023) before opting to continue a 10-week break from large-scale lawmaking. Beacon Hill lawmakers have not held a formal session in the months of May and June and the first week of July 2023. The yet to be voted on fiscal year 2023 Massachusetts state budget is now one week late. It is the last productive session of the Massachusetts State Legislature in over one decade. Beacon Hill lawmakers are sitting on billions upon billions of surplus state dollars without passing tax relief legislation.

Beacon Hill lawmakers are useless. Beacon Hill lawmakers do nothing, while taxpayers have to pay for their 6-figure state public pay plus perks. Beacon Hill lawmakers only do DISSERVICES to the common people and distressed communities in Massachusetts. Please support new political candidates who will change Beacon Hill politics for the better because the current secretive and corrupt political system of state government in Boston is broken.

Please vote out all of the corrupt career politicians on Beacon Hill, including the Berkshire delegation: Becket State Senator Paul Mark who recently voted against affordable housing because he is a banal rubber stamp for State Senate President Karen Spilka, Lenox State Rep. Smitty Pignatelli who has been in Boston for over 2 decades now and wrongly voted for 2 convicted Felons named Tom Finneran and Sal DiMasi for Speaker of the State House (prior to the 2 aforementioned disgraced politicians becoming Convicted Felons), Pittsfield State Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier who said that she will only “work” for the decriminalization of sex workers while Pittsfield is struggling with Level 5 public schools and always being in the top 10 cities in Massachusetts for violent crime year-in and year-out, and North Adams State Rep. John Barrett III who has been in elected office longer than many of us have been alive similar to Joe Biden’s over 50 years in the Swamp, and he recently coldly called would-be homeless families that were to be housed in North Adams’ empty college dorms “a threat” to the community. Paul Mark, Smitty Pignatelli, Tricia Farley-Bouver, and John Barrett III are all failures in leadership!

“WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a press conference this morning, interim DC Police Chief Ashan Benedict said that while they have top investigators on the case, they may never know exactly who left a bag of cocaine labeled “Property of H. Biden” in the White House while Hunter Biden was there.
“Listen, this is a difficult case to solve,” said Benedict to reporters. “The initial ‘H’ could be anyone. Hank, Herman, Harry… the possibilities are endless. We will do our best to solve this, but we need the American people to know that this extraordinarily difficult case might just be unsolvable forever.”
Sources close to the case confirmed that police had planned to dust for fingerprints, but they accidentally lost their fingerprinting kit. They were then going to review security footage of the room where the hard drugs were found, but the tapes for that time period accidentally fell into a bucket of hydrochloric acid and were ruined. DNA tests also proved fruitless, as almost all of the DNA found in the White House belongs to Bill Clinton.
“This is a case that may haunt me for the rest of my life,” said lead Detective Frank Drebin as several laser dots appeared on his forehead. “I’m completely stumped here. I really hate to see the bad guys get away like that.”
At publishing time, DC Police had also lamented the unsolvable case of the dead hooker they just found buried in the Rose Garden. “

“Even if there were surveillance cameras, unless you were waving it around, it may not have been caught,” said the White House official. “It’s a bit of a thoroughfare. People walk by there all the time.”
Politico tweeted a link to their story, saying, “White House cocaine culprit unlikely to be found.”
In response, Elon Musk sarcastically tweeted, “Any guesses?” Referring, of course, to Joe Biden’s son Hunter who is a known cocaine user.

Any guesses?

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 5, 2023

“I have a couple of ideas,” replied political commentator Ian Miles Cheong.
Conservative lawyer Rogan O’Handley also tweeted about the cocaine found in the White House, suggesting it was obvious who it belonged to.
“Hunter is a coke head,” reasoned O’Handley. “Hunter can enter the White House w/ fewer security precautions than other visitors. He just left w/ Joe Biden for Camp David this weekend. The coke was found this [weekend].”

“Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened here.”

SMOKING GUN: Press Pool Report Destroys Major White House Lie by Jean Pierre – Reveals the ENTIRE Biden Crime Family WAS at White House Ahead of the Cocaine Discovery
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2023/07/smoking-gun-press-pool-report-destroys-major-white/

There were all at the White House for almost all Friday, two days before the cocaine discovery.
The Biden regime has sought out several scapegoats ranging from construction workers to White House visitors in an attempt to deflect blame. All of these attempts have fallen flat for good reason.

As the Gateway Pundit previously reported, Dan Bongino explained that because of the extensive security checkpoints required to enter the White House, the only possibility is that a family member brought the cocaine into the West Wing.
There’s absolutely ZERO chance anyone other than a family member brought that cocaine inside the White House complex. No chance that would make it past the mag/security checkpoints. Family bypasses those.

Please read the news article, below, that says that the Massachusetts State Government is still awash in cash. It states that: “The Stabilization Fund has a balance of $7.22 billion, the state Executive Office of Administration and Finance said — a historically high level of reserves for the state that is equal to nearly 14 percent of fiscal year 2023 budgeted spending.”

Beacon Hill lawmakers have over $7 billion in surplus state cash, but they still have not passed tax relief legislation. As blogger Dan Valenti always writes, the over $7 billion in surplus state cash belongs in the pockets of hard-working families such as the fictional Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski family of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

“Massachusetts Will Make Much Smaller Rainy Day Fund Deposit — But State Government Still Awash In Cash
By Colin Young, State House News Service | July 7, 2023

The state’s sizeable rainy day fund will be infused with hundreds of millions of dollars once the books are closed on fiscal year 2023, but the deposit is expected to be “substantially less” than the $1.5 billion initially expected.

The smaller-than-expected deposit is “driven by lower than originally anticipated capital gains tax collections,” officials wrote in the June 20 official statement of Bay State finances that also put investors and others on notice of the change. The shortfall in capital gains revenue contributed to the nosedive that state tax collections took in April, missing Healey administration expectations by $1.435 billion (or 23.1 percent) and falling $2.163 billion (or 31.2 percent) short of the mark from the same month a year earlier.

The consensus revenue estimate that the Healey administration updated in January forecast $2.934 billion in capital gains collections for fiscal year 2023 (which runs from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024), which would result in a $1.53 billion deposit to the Stabilization Fund based on the law that requires 90 percent of capital gains revenue above a certain threshold (just more than $1.403 billion in fiscal year 2023) be deposited into that account.

But in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2023 (through May 31), the state had brought in just $2.065 billion in capital gains collections, according to a letter obtained by State House News Service that the Massachusetts Department of Revenue sent state comptroller William McNamara last week. If the fiscal year were to have ended May 31, the rainy day fund deposit would have been $595.2 million, the state Executive Office of Administration and Finance said.

The final deposit, a number that may not be clear until the books are closed this fall, will be equal to $595.2 million plus 90 percent of whatever capital gains revenue the state collected during June 2023. Fiscal year 2023 ended June 30, but it regularly takes state lawmakers months to formally finish the accounting necessary for the state’s comptroller to compile an annual financial report.

The Stabilization Fund has a balance of $7.22 billion, the state Executive Office of Administration and Finance said — a historically high level of reserves for the state that is equal to nearly 14 percent of fiscal year 2023 budgeted spending. The fund’s balance is closer than it has been at any point over the last 20 years to the maximum allowed by law, and state budget managers have also socked away money — including fiscal year 2022’s year-end $4.8 billion surplus — in a Transitional Escrow Fund that former Secretary of Administration and Finance Michael Heffernan said “acts almost as a stabilization fund on top of the Stabilization Fund.”

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Over 90 public school districts in Vermont have filed a lawsuit due to their exposure to PCBs, which can be released into the air, posing a risk to students and staff. Please read the news article, below.

Given these facts about the dangers of the industrial chemicals called PCBs that causes cancer, brain damage in adults and learning disabilities in children, why does the Pittsfield Public School District allow GE’s PCBs-filled capped leaky landfill named Hill 78 abut Allendale Elementary School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts?

Best wishes,

“Toxic Nightmare: Schools in Crisis As Monsanto’s Deadly Legacy Haunts Vermont”
Written By BlabberBuzz | Friday, 07 July 2023 14:10

Many Vermont schools have filed a lawsuit against chemical company Monsanto, alleging toxic contamination in educational buildings from now-banned industrial chemicals known as PCBs.

In 2022, Vermont became the first state in the country to mandate older schools to test their indoor air for polychlorinated biphenyls, which were commonly used in building materials and electrical equipment before 1980.

The complaint, filed by more than 90 school districts in federal court, seeks to recover costs and damages. Under Vermont’s law, schools with high levels of contamination must reduce exposure.

The removal of PCBs is expected to be costly, with some districts potentially having to demolish and replace buildings, resulting in expenses amounting to “hundreds of millions, if not billions, of dollars,” according to the lawsuit.

The presence of PCBs in school buildings is attributed to caulking and glazing compounds, sealants, adhesives, and other construction materials. However, Monsanto, now owned by Bayer, denies any responsibility, stating that “third party companies, not Monsanto” produced the PCB-laden materials likely used in the schools. The company asserts that it has not manufactured or disposed of PCBs in Vermont for over 45 years.

Monsanto is also seeking an emergency hearing and the preservation of evidence. The company wants to participate in environmental testing and PCB-source identification, as well as document and observe the remediation work.

Polychlorinated biphenyls, which were used in building materials and electrical equipment such as transformers, capacitors, and fluorescent lighting ballasts, were banned by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 1979 due to concerns about their potential to cause cancer and other illnesses.

However, a 2019 Associated Press investigation revealed that millions of fluorescent light ballasts containing PCBs likely remain in schools and day care centers across the U.S., even four decades after the chemicals were banned.

Exposure to PCBs can occur through breathing in dust or vapors containing the chemicals, consuming dust while eating or drinking, or having skin contact with materials that contain the chemicals. The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation warns that the chemicals can be released into the air, posing a risk to students and staff.

PCB contamination has already forced an entire Vermont high school to relocate to a closed department store in downtown Burlington, where classes have been held since March 2021 while the old school is being demolished.

The retrofit of the store, which is connected to a now-closed mall, cost $3.5 million and was supported by the state.

In a similar case two years ago, three teachers in Washington state were awarded $185 million after suing Monsanto over exposure to PCBs in fluorescent lights at the Sky Valley Education Center in Monroe, Washington. The teachers claimed to have suffered brain damage as a result of the exposure.

Last month, the Vermont attorney general also filed a lawsuit against Monsanto, alleging PCB contamination in the state’s schools and natural resources.

The lawsuit claims that the chemicals have accumulated to dangerous levels in sediment, wildlife, and fish, and continue to circulate in Vermont’s waters. As a result, Vermont has issued a fish consumption advisory for all of Lake Champlain and the Hoosic River due to the contamination.

Monsanto maintains that the lawsuit filed by the school districts, as well as the lawsuit brought by the Vermont attorney general, have no merit for the same reasons it previously stated.

Reading all the hate mail in the Eagle surprised they are still able to print with all the misinformation they spread. After reading how much the state is pocketing away instead of returning the money to the rightful taxpayer makes you wonder why anyone should care about voting. The machine has taken over. Here in Pittsfield the winners will be who ever promises to continue to feed the public porkies!! Who will give the highest $$ to the unions and school personnel. If they want to continue increasing the exorbitant pay they already receive who is going to trim the positions by streamlining! Consolidate schools get rid of several Assistant Supers and extra principles. You listen to the debates and candidates talk and all you hear is lies, lies everywhere lies. Where have all the honest people gone? The ones who will enter the arena for the people and one who will be able to get the downtrodden to vote! I have often wondered how certain people in the city power structure could always guarantee votes if you kissed their rings. All I can say is good luck, It looks like I will be writing in candidates seeing how I don’t see any current candidate that fits my criteria.

From backing Drag Queen story hour for young children, Critical Race Theory, and transgender surgeries and drugs for young children and trying to hide it all from parents; Biden, Jill, Obama, and the rest of the far left approves of all of it.

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

Beacon Hill lawmakers’ week ahead includes two contradictory public policies. The first policy is the long-awaited, elusive tax relief legislation, while the state government still sits on over $7.22 billion in surplus state cash. The second policy is whether state lottery sales will go online. The lottery is nothing more than a (voluntary) regressive taxation scheme that is a predatory industry that targets the mostly financially illiterate and uneducated underclass, working class and middle-class residents so that the high-income residents won’t have to pay as much in state taxes.

Beacon Hill lawmakers in the State House of Representatives have not met in Formal Session in over 10 weeks. The fiscal year 2024 state budget is over one week late now. The Legislature is debating how to spend a billion new tax dollars on transportation and education. That is laughable because Beacon Hill lawmakers give away many billions of dollars in state taxpayer dollars to their wealthy campaign donors so that the financial, corporate and ruling elites may enrich themselves at the public trough while the commoners pound sand. No wonder why some of the registered lobbyists on Beacon Hill earn 7-figure per year salaries by legally bribing the fictional Massachusetts State Representative Sellout Shakedown!

It is also Summer Vacation time for Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who went to Ireland for one week, Rhode Island for one week, and she will attend the National Governors Association’s summer meeting in Atlantic City, NJ, from Wednesday, July 12th through Friday, July 14th, 2023. She is NOT hard at work fighting for the fictional hard-working Kapanski family of Pittsfield, Massachusetts!

The House and Senate Democrats remain hung up on a mostly routine annual local road and bridge infrastructure funding bill. Joking here: I thought by 2023, we would all be flying in cars by now like in the Back to Future Part 2 movie.

RFK Jr. brought it up during an interview with Lex Fridman who was completely clueless. Media analyst Mark Dice has the story.
