The Massachusetts State Legislature’s formal session goes through July 31st, 2024, and then the 200 career politicians in Boston will go on their 5-months-long taxpayer-funded vacation.

Happy Independence Day. I attended the Town of Amherst, NH’s annual 4th of July (2024) parade this morning. I shook hands with NH candidate for Governor Joyce Craig during the aforementioned parade. I told her that she has my vote. She said thank you. I believe that you and Joyce Craig would (hopefully will) make a great team as the Governor of the GREAT Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the GREAT State of New Hampshire.

* Go further down to lines102-103, they replace the word “mother” with “person who gave birth.”

Donald Trump is challenging Joe Biden to another debate with no moderators so they can just discuss their individual agendas. Trump wants Joe to explain why he supports open borders and why he hasn’t attempted to stop the Ukraine war by pushing for a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. It’s obvious that Joe Biden and his globalists want this war. Why doesn’t Joe do more to stop inflation? Why does Joe support men in women’s sports? The list goes on and on, but Joe will never do this because it’s too unstructured and he needs all the structure he can get to try to stay lucid.
Doubt Biden wants anything to do with a debate based on strictly policies alone. He and his handlers need a debate platform that allows for anything but the usual talking spew about Hitler, Felon, abortions, threat to democracy, dictatorship and so on. After watching the parade, I would like to see where the $80,000 dollars is spent. Has there ever been an audit done of the books? It seems like it’s getting more expensive each year, but the quality is going down, unfortunately just like the city. It’s basically just people walking down the street holding banners. Maybe the city official’s new baseball shirts cost a lot or is overtime pay for police officers and fire department.
Also, with the HUGE school department budget you mean to tell taxpayers that they can’t afford to get band uniforms for the Pittsfield High band. Back in my day the PHS Band, Cheerleaders and Cadettes were all decked out in purple and white and represented the city with class. We were proud. Guess those days are long gone.
My biggest laugh was when Berkshire Health Systems float ended the parade, with the subject colorectal health. So ironical because basically with the increase in taxes and water bills long with the lack of traffic control, and increase in crime and homelessness, the city is sticking it up our butts.
No audits then, now or ever in Pittsfield and you should have your drivers license suspended for even using that kind of language where a city official might see it.
It is not like the mayor and council president are trying to rip off the people every chance they get.

I didn’t make it to the parade but I’ve seen the PHS band in some of the recent Fall Foliage parades. It’s sad what it’s become, no uniforms, marching out of step, a much smaller group than in the past. The used to represent the city with class.

There is a commentary in the Berkshire Eagle entitled “Your Religious Values are Not America’s Values”. Pamela Paul says that no wonder Americans are turning from religion, especially Christianity, when Republicans want to make students aware of the 10 commandments and the Bible in the schools. This is offensive to so many people including atheists, Muslims, and others who don’t believe in the Bible. Ms. Paul never mentions all that is currently being taught in schools that a majority of Americans find offensive like trying to convince young children they need surgeries and hormones because they are trapped in the wrong sexual identity and teaching students to be activists for the far left Democrat agenda. None of that is offensive to Americans according to the far left and, if it is, they don’t care. Moral values that religion would provide is a direct threat to what is being taught in our schools and this is the real reason Ms. Paul and others on the left want to keep these teachings away from students.

People like to hide their heads in the sand when it comes to what is really going on. Have they forgotten about the sexually explicit book that a Great Barrington teacher was making available to students? About parents coming forward to try to take back the schools from these radical teachers and school administrators who insist they know what is best for the kids? It has been a huge fight because schools have been trying to weaken parental authority and the fight is still going on in the schools.
Last year the Tyler street total renovation, upgrade, modernization project was completed with much fanfare and expense. How many millions is not clear but it was a whole big bunch.
Today however, less than one year later, the much touted, bike lanes for safety, are badly faded and almost completely unmarked in many stretches. As are the CROSSWALKS where more jaywalking takes place than North street. It is the middle of summer and school is out and tourism is under way but clearly marked crosswalks and bike lanes on Tyler street are apparently low on the list of the Petes priorities. One can almost forgive the mayor because he is very busy attending photo ops and parties, but the council president should be able to find the time, five minutes perhaps, to speak to Morales about this serious safety for children issue.
Who is the ward councilor? Why are the parents not in an uproar? Did we just spend millions to redo a main thoroughfare and make it even more dangerous than it was?
To answer your last question, yes that is what the city is constantly doing. There is absolutely no thought process behind any of their decisions. Look at all the streets they have decided to “narrow” in neighborhoods where they never even made one damn attempt to study traffic or speak to taxpayers on the street about traffic flow both vehicle and pedestrian. Meanwhile they are having to keep trying to correct the errors they have made. How much money did you save Ricardo and Peter with your brilliant idea? As far as sidewalks not being painted. Our city has the largest budget and steadily growing, yet all towns and cities around us can afford to paint their crosswalks, but then again, Bitchfield can’t even agree on what color to paint them, evidently too difficult of a decision by the CC! Also, the public works department does not seem to finish any job they start, they would rather decorate the city with orange cones and barrels. We are a neglected city, just drive around and dodge all the potholes still waiting to be filled.
Instead of addressing your obvious concerns, Mayor Pete has them Street Sweeping sandless roads. Hopefully they can stop the madness, someday.
Might I add that First street is in a similar box of neglected safety issues. Super highly jaywalked street with poorly defined crosswalks and bike lanes. Even the one from the parking lot to the Multi-million dollar common stage and Farmers Market is almost invisible.
However and day of the week you will find parks dept employees all over the parks making them pretty. Flowers being planted and attended to all over the city. But if you don’t have children perhaps it does not rise to the level of high priority.

Latest news from City Hall, $16.8 million owed the city in back taxes! City Administration keeps raising the budget which raises the taxes of those that do pay their taxes. This is downright wrong. Why has this been allowed to happen? Taxpayers deserve a better excuse than what was written in the Beagle.
