PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION, AUG. 12-4, 2022) — Before we get to more sheriffs’ sherbet and sorbet, THE PLANET‘s has a few bits ‘o honey to clear from the desk:

  • Wednesday’s Child — On Wednesday, this website will once again organize, sponsor, and produce a political debate, this one between incumbent D.A. Andrea Harrington and local attorney Tim Shugrue. We will tape the hour-long event from 3 to 4 p.m. and broadcast it on social media later that evening. Hard hats are on order.
  • 0-to-60: In 48 hours, THE PLANET‘s new YouTube — PLANET VALENTI VIDEO — channel went from 0 views to almost 2,000, a virtual 0-to-60 in one second. The debate between sheriff Tom Bowler and challenger Alf Barbalunga drew the crowd. For the present, our video venture will present any forums or debates we produce, as a kind of soft opening. We are exploring with a film company a much-more varied form of production. Stay tuned. More movies ahead.
  • Biden, Come Clean — The FBI’s unprecedented, legally illegal raid on former President Donald Trump’s home has widened America’s cultural and political chasm to now un-mendable proportions. Now even particle physics could construct a bridge that wide. President Biden denied advance knowledge of the storm-trooper tactics. THE PLANET believes him. Syracuse Joe, poor guy, doesn’t realize he’s been reduced to a front man for a cabal acting unilaterally behind his back.
  • Al Capon’s Safe — So is Donald Trump. As Geraldo Rivers found out in live TV, Scarface’s safe contained nothing but fish bones, 17 feet of rodeo rope, three used condoms, two empty lipsticks, and a Vote for Dewey button. FBI agents found less — NOTHING, EMPTY — when they illegally cracked Trump’s safe at Mar-A-Lago. The fishing expedition has nothing to do with justice and everything to do with (a) keeping Trump from becoming president-elect next year and (b) trying to prevent upcoming disaster for the Dems this coming November.
  • Much Ado About Nothing — Enjoy culture and get roughed up. Great look for “vibrant and dynamic” Pittsfield, when rehearsing Shakespeare & Co. actors were harassed and roughed up three times on three separate days at the Common this week. Culprits: knapsack-toting teens (boys and girls) buzzing in on bikes, Pittsfield’s remake of “The Wild Ones.”  Thrice, the terrified troupe sought refuge at the adjacent Zion Church. Pittsfield police thrice were called to the scene. Nothing was done. They’re Children. They need to be “understood” (code for “coddled”). They’re “good kids turning their lives around.” Officials are worried about the safety of actors, crew, and peaceful citizens when the actual performance is held. Performances are set to run to Aug. 18. How many knapsackers will be packing loaded heat? Is a mass shooting being planned? That’s not far-fetched. And how many police and security will be tied up keeping patrons safe while crime runs amok elsewhere in the lawless city? Care to explain, madame mayor?
  • Alf the Bowler Keeps Knocking Down Pins — The race for sheriff of Berkshire County has turned into one of the most interesting and volatile we’ve seen in many a handgun. Here’s the latest Barbalunga press release. We present it in full, unedited. The sheriff’s campaign sent THE PLANET his comments in red and ALL CAPITALS.

———- ooo ———-

HEADLINE: BARBALUNGA SAYS SHERIFF CREATED A CULTURE WHERE CAR AND GAS CAR PRIVILEGES REPORTEDLY RESULTED IN A TRIP TO FLORIDA (SORRY. NO TRIP TO FLORIDA.)

Berkshire County—Alf Barbalunga, a Democratic candidate for Berkshire County Sheriff, says that while rumors of take-home vehicles and gas cards in the Sheriff’s office are nothing new, the latest story, independently and voluntarily shared by multiple employees unsolicited, shocked even him. (DID SOMEONE PRANK ALF WITH THIS CRAZY STORY?)

“I was told that an internal audit was done of the Sheriff’s Office vehicles (AN INTERNAL AUDIT OF THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE VEHICLES NEVER TOOK PLACE) and one was discovered missing,” (NOT TRUE.) states Barbalunga. “I was told after some investigating, it was discovered that a family member of one of the employees had it in Florida, (NOPE) and someone had to go down and retrieve it. (RIDICULOUS) We have been informed that line staff was never told if the state paid for this trip, the flight or gas and tolls, or if the employee or their family member paid. It appears to be part of the lack of transparency that continues to be revealed as we proceed with our own investigation of the sheriff’s “black budget” and “car culture” dynasty. (NO LACK OF TRANSPARENCY. IT NEVER HAPPENED, YET SUCH A LACK OF RESPECT IN THESE SO-CALLED PRESS RELEASES.)

It is common knowledge that the sheriff’s employees, especially high ranked employees are allowed to use state vehicles to travel to and from work. How many and how much money is actually spent is what remains elusive. Alf has been told approximately 14-16 vehicles are commonly used for personal use, with the rationale that people are “on call.”

Gas card expenses for personal use appear to be a percentage of the annual fuel cost. According to Alf’s budget review, the code G05 is for Fuel for Vehicles, and in the 2021 budget, Fuel for Vehicles totaled $61,003.94. This is a lot compared to the Franklin County Sheriff’s office at $31,484 and the Hampshire County’s Sheriff’s office at $24,493. (THE BERKSHIRE COUNTY JAIL AND HOUSE OF CORRECTION HAS RECEIVED 100 % COMPLIANCE ON COMPREHENSIVE AUDITS ON BOTH THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE THIS LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE BY THE UNDER-HANDED MISMANAGEMENT THAT ALF OFTEN CLAIMS TAKES PLACE. )

We are also told that the fuel budget is augmented by a mandatory 10% wage garnishment from employees’ detail work, though we cannot trace whether this wage garnishment is used to cover personal use gas card monies. (NOT TRUE. OUTSIDE AGENCIES WHICH HIRE OFFICERS FROM THE UNIFORM DIVISION FOR DETAIL WORK ARE CHARGED $50 AN HOUR FOR THAT WORK. THE OFFICER IS PAID $45 AN HOUR. THE REMAINING $5 GOES TO DEFRAY ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OF MANAGING THE RETAINED REVENUE ACCOUNT. OFFICERS ARE PAID VERY QUICKLY FOR THEIR DETAIL WORK. THERE IS OFTEN A DELAY BETWEEN WHEN OFFICERS ARE PAID AND WHEN THE JAIL’S RETAINED REVENUE ACCOUNT IS REIMBURSED BY THE OUTSIDE AGENCY WHICH HIRED THE DETAIL. )

“At first glance it doesn’t make sense,” says Barbalunga. “There is prisoner transport around the state, but $61,000 is a lot of fuel and mileage, and when you consider there are 14-16 vehicles being driven as personal commuter cars, then it all starts to add up. Take the Assistant Superintendent I who made over $180,000 last year; he lives outside of Berkshire County, in South Hadley, MA. That’s a 100-mile round-trip, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year – that’s 25,000 miles if he’s driving to work that often. Let’s say he’s getting 25mpg for a state vehicle, that’s 1000 gallons. At $4 per gallon, that’s $4000 right there. I was also told he had kayak racks on his state vehicle for a while, which means he was apparently using it for personal use to go kayaking.”

In 2021, the Berkshire Eagle reported that Andrea Harrington drove a vehicle leased by the state, and it was apparently controversial. Barbalunga compares this criticism to the Sheriff’s Office: “This isn’t just the sheriff’s vehicle being driven, which I would understand, but he has a large number of staff with vehicles too, including a plow truck, we’ve been told, being driven in the summer using a state gas card, with the excuse that the driver was ‘on call’! I think that’s taking it too far.”

Barbalunga reports he will not allow this behavior if he is elected and will cut back on take home cars and gas card privileges. “People making over $100,000 can afford to drive their own car to work. I do.”

If elected, he is also considering selling the sheriff’s Hummer that the sheriff restored, (which appears to be maintained only for parade and car shows) and the motorcycle fleet, and use that money for additional renovations of the future women’s pod(s). (THE HUMMER IS GOVERNMENT SURPLUS. IF ELECTED, ALF WILL HAVE TO RETURN IT TO THE GOVERNMENT.)

“We aren’t SWAT and we aren’t CHIPS”, says Barbalunga, “The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t need these types of vehicles. They are just expensive toys. Any money we can save by getting rid of toys, we can put into programming and the men and women who work hard to rehabilitate the prisoners.” (THE “TOYS” ARE CRITICAL PIECES OF THE COMMUNITY’S SEARCH AND RESCUE EQUIPMENT THAT ENABLES TRAINED MEMBERS OF THE SHERIFF’S STAFF TO GAIN ACCESS TO HIKING TRAILS, WOODS, AND OTHER HARD-TO-REACH PLACES TO LOCATE AND ASSIST LOST AND INJURED PEOPLE. IN ADDITION, THE COUNTY’S ENTIRE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM INCLUDE A NETWORK OF TOWERS THAT ARE INACCESSIBLE TO REGULAR VEHICLES.)
———- ooo ———-
Other than that, not much is happening. Have a great weekend, everybody.

Hahaha, someone pranked Alf? Ashton Kutcher? Not sure the motorcycles I saw in the parade are off-road compliant. Pretty easy to pass an audit if it’s not detailed, I would like to see the audits released by the Sheriff. Notice a lot of it not denied, interesting. Gotta hand it to Alf for trying…

Tim Shugrue is getting a free pass on his controversial connections to Pittsfield’s Good Old Boy network’s legal establishment that persecuted Bernard Baran and other allegedly innocent men who were allegedly accused of child sex abuse crimes. I do not comprehend why the news media and blogs are not investigating and reporting on Tim Shugrue’s role in railroading allegedly innocent men so that he and his fellow Good Old Boy Berkshire County Attorneys could all advance their legal careers, such as his associates being elected as past District Attorneys and being appointed to past Judgeships. I posted a blog page about Tim Shugrue’s elephant in the room that no one out there is writing about, while most of the news media and blogs endlessly attack the sitting Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington for Pittsfield’s violent crime infested inner city.

The news media and blogs need to tell the people and voters that Tim Shugrue is part of a long line of Good Old Boys Berkshire County Attorneys who allegedly railroaded allegedly innocent men accused of child sex abuse crimes and destroyed the accused lives in order to advance their legal careers to be elected as past Berkshire County District Attorneys, along with the likes of Dan Ford, who is a retired Judge in Berkshire County. This is what is happening to you, D.A. Andrea Harrington, right now. Tim Shugrue, the news media and the blogs are all attacking you, which may advance Tim Shugrue’s legal career if he ousts you and is elected as the next Berkshire County District Attorney on September 6th, 2022. You, D.A. Andrea Harrington, are the people of Berkshire County’s best hope for good governance as the sitting Berkshire County District Attorney. You have my full support, and I hope you will win reelection next month.

What “free pass” is Tim Shugrue being given by the legal community JM?

Bernie Baran was arrested in 1984. Tim began his practice in 1994. That’s a 10 year difference JM. Did Tim Shugrue offer his legal opinion on the Baran case in 8th grade?

I respect women, including Andrea Harrington. I support her professionally and politically only. I don’t want her sexually. She is cute, but I support her for her progressive politics and equitable approach to law enforcement. As for Tim Shugrue, he has been practicing law in Berkshire County for 36 years, which takes us back to at least 1986, not in 1994. The Good Old Boys legal establishment Attorneys who support Tim Shugrue for Berkshire County D.A. in 2022 are the same people who persecuted allegedly innocent me.

JM, I’m curious about one thing you wrote in your above post. Can you explain to me and The Planet what you mean by DA Wrong Way’s “equitable approach to law enforcement?”

Not sure if you are aware, but every law enforcement agency in the Berkshires, including the state police, wants her GONE.

Then again, when the chief law enforcement official in the county calls all the police officers she (allegedly) represents “racists” without any facts to back it up, can you blame them?

Equitable should mean ‘fair.’ Fair as in law enforced against all to same degree. One man burns her sign on someone else’s lawn: 2 years jail. Many others, requesting not equitable treatment but restorative equity get off for armed crimes.

Would you describe those examples as ‘equitable’ or discretionary application of degrees of equitableness?

As for ‘cute,’ maybe it is you who is applying gender consideration to the question as to the DA’s merits. It is kind of like criticizing public women for their clothes and weight. Not appropriate.

I really cant believe that you think this stuff is needed at the expensive of us all. First in the state of Massachusetts the Sheriff and deputies are in charge of the jail and over seeing of the care and custody of those put there. They are not active law enforcement like in other state such as New York, Vermont, etc. The problem seems to be that all these department have expanded there powers and budgets. They are hired to work in the jail at good pay and benefits thats were they belong not on crime scene, not on task forces, not running around playing cop.

Apparently Black Budget Bowler, or is it Pudgy The Friendly Ghost, greatly expanded the role of the sheriffs department over the years, to assist the community, and considering the lack of inmates, it was probably in his best interest to do so, as well as his staff and the community at large. Barbalunga is like a dog in heat sniffing for something to pounce on. Bowler better get on offense instead of just playing defense. His response to the allegations could be way better.

Yes, I think it would clear up all Alf’s investigating if he actually published what he spends money on. How many cars, what kind of cars, what mpg, who drives them, where to they drive them, etc., etc., etc., the same kind of scrutiny the Eagle put the DAs office under after they discovered Andrea, like the DA before her I believe, drove a leased car. At least if the sheriff executives couldn’t live without state vehicles you should get them a budget level Prius, but it’s executive fluff taxpayers don’t need to spend money on period. No one can argue with that. the sheriff is wasting money.

Dan, maybe you can investigate and find out what the truth is, Alf seems to work off what he hears, and who knows if the Sheriff would admit to a car being in Florida (if it was). And who actually owns the Hummer? Are they saying it’s on loan? I just did an internet search and found another Sheriff’s department selling their federal government surplus Hummer. How much did the Sheriff say in the debate was the retained revenue? It was over $1,000,000, right, might have been closer to $2,000,000? If $5 out of every $45 goes to administrative costs (which is over 10%, seems like a lot), and you divide $1,000,000 x $45 and multiply by $5 you get over $111,000 in administrative costs per million, to do what? And what are administrative costs? Keeping track of who works detail and when? Isn’t payroll someone’s regular job? Or gas for cars to do detail work? Again, why not just explain it in a way the regular Joe can understand it? Maybe you can do Alf’s homework for him and get some real fact-checked answers with real budget numbers and even actual printout pieces of old-school paper? If Alf is right about someone using a car to go kayaking, it’s not unreasonable to think someone drove a car on vacation and the Sheriff didn’t even hear about it for fear of getting in trouble. As usual, Alf’s statements seem to contain some truth to them, interested to see if you can find out how much.

Since you are just here to stir up anti bowler info maybe do your own im research because you don’t know anything it seems.
Every detail in MA has an administrative cost of 10% built into it for administering the payroll costs. It’s all part of the prevailing wage contract as part of the Executive Office Of Transportation and Public Works. The reason it’s this way, is to make sure there isn’t fraud in the detail payments and to provide over site. By law the the agency that oversees the employees can’t receive the money directly. That why the payroll office of the sheriff’s office can’t process it directly.

The Hummer, it’s a freebie it’s part of the 1033 program.
“ Section 1033 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 1997 authorizes the Secretary of Defense to transfer excess Department of Defense equipment and property to state and local law enforcement agencies. This property is procured at no cost to the agency except for any shipping or transportation costs.”
Every city and town and sheriffs department participates in this program. A number of the hill towns and towns in Berkshire county have these vehicles. The program has been extended to fire departments and all first responding agencies.

Here are the links:

https://www.mass.gov/doc/executive-office-of-transportation-and-public-works-road-flagger-police-detail-regulations-and/download

There are separate costs paid to the agency if there is a car used for the detail. Maximum is $25 an hour.

Here’s what other towns do

So, I read it, I guess the question is whether the Hummer retains some military tactical advantage, if it does, it’s on loan, if it’s just civilian use now, then it becomes property of the law enforcement agency? I did a quick google search when I saw Dan’s post and found another Sheriff selling his military hummer.

Truth Seeker

I’ve explained it already it’s SURPLUS, there’s no “tactical” advantage to it.
It’s not on loan, it’s given to departments. Lenox Fire Department has one, they got it for free, govt doesn’t want it back ever, they can sell it if they want, most departments keep them for S&R or for parades.

Are we sure Stoutman isn’t just Barry under a new handle? Seems like he’s just trying to talk bad about bowler.

Barbalungas’ investigation of Bowlers Black Budget is totally unnecessary if Bowler releases the facts – how many cars, how many take home, who drives them, why, how much does it cost in gas, and where does the money for the detail fee actually get spent? Again, though, why do Sheriff administrator executive level people reportedly get cars and gas cards to drive, no one is disputing that. Even if they pay their own gas, if the Sheriff buys new cars for them to drive that’s budget waste. I don’t know anyone who gets a company car, work mileage reimbursement yes, but not a company car.

I would also like to know why he didn’t storm into Obama’s houses where millions of papers are that should be in the archives. I don’t believe for a second Garland nor the Post about the new nuclear weapons papers, as someone here pointed out our silo’s are all well marked out. Fizzie was that you in the park with your misunderstood child harassing the actors, I know you got lost on Ricky Rumpass Maze, you were just looking for the pump track

What we really need is the Affidavit. The warrant will not tell everything. Meanwhile, Chucky Schumer wants to pass his bill today to weaponize the IRS against people earning far less than $200,000 per year. Lots of Americans, especially those on the left, seem just fine with this weaponization.

Job posting: wanting IRS who are qualified to bear weapons and willing to use deadly force. To back up, the IRS is hoarding ammunition.

Let me think about the daily schedule:

9-10: meetings
10-12: audits
12-1: lunch
1-3: target practice
4-5: reporting

Busy schedule for the IRS bean counter.
Ford Fischer on Twitter: “The IRS is hiring new special agents! Requirements include working min “50 hours per week, which may include irregular hours, and be on-call 24/7, including holidays and weekends” and “Carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary.” https://t.co/uvwbrAkIit https://t.co/z0aVX6uoMr” / Twitter

I am told by someone who knows that the spiritual creation exists in permanent overlay with the profane. No Return – the spiritual is permanent form. I refer you to Durer’s Melancholia. Anachronistic historians say its about creative block. That’s a lot of work making that woodblock to talk about anything but alienation of the spirit from the profane and vice versa.

Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more. Same sleazy people involved. Why wouldn’t the FBI allow the inspection of areas at Mar-a-Lago with our lawyer’s, or others, present. Made them wait outside in the heat, wouldn’t let them get even close – said “ABSOLUTELY NOT.” Planting information anyone? Reminds me of a Christofer Steele Dossier!

The Pee tape was real which is the hold Putin has always had on Trump AND OTHERS he surrounded himself with. This is the reality. Yes, I know you are not going to buy it and I do not care. But if the country goes to civil war we are all going to suffer immensely. Do not think Trumps supporters will be dancing around unscathed because the economy will become dust for everyone.

Seems even the liberal media are upset with DOJ/FBI/Biden cabal of crooks. They filed an amicus with Judicial Watch.

“On August 9, Judicial Watch filed its motion asking the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida to unseal as soon as possible the search warrant materials used by the FBI to raid President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida (U.S. v. Sealed Search Warrant (Case No. 9:22-mj-08332)).
The Albany Times Union and the New York Times have joined Judicial Watch in filing for the unsealing of the warrant by filing an amicus letter and motion respectively.”

What is a ‘right wing news outlet’?

To verify if your point is valid, we need to break the answer down into defining terms of ‘news outlet’ and ‘right wing.’ For example: what constitutes a news outlet? Twitter, FOX, CNN, NTY, Facebook, Planet Valenti, Its Pittsfield Tonight (which now claims NOT to be news anymore.)? We have time to get somewhere on this.

I agree with Alf on gas cards and vehicles. The people are being well compensated for working at the jail so they should not get these perks. I would say the same about all the other government employees, why do they get vehicles to take to and from work? Especially when you take into account their benefits and pensions they make more than the Kapanski’s. Another area Alf should address is get rid of the police sitting at construction sites. A regular worker can do this as is proven in all the other states. It is time to start chipping away at this bloated government that is found in Massachusetts.

GOIT

He’s (fizzlehead) right though. I give him a up vote.

Those who get accused of being a ‘trump supporter’ (nicely undefinable term) do not know what is coming at them next. It’s the French Revolution all over again. Royalists were everywhere. They murdered the lot and kept finding more. Someday, even someone who hates DT but disapproves of the raid will be called a Trump supporter. This cannot be avoided. The innocent victim is what Hegel calls the ‘innocent flower that must accept being stomped on in the forward march of History and Greatness.”* Watch your feet, FH, you may say the wrong thing and be misunderstood! You are the innocent flower, not GOIT

Fizzlehead: dark days arrive when defense, alibis, proof become the stuff of ‘tricks.’

The tricks you mention really are synthetic and artificial; the ‘tricks’ are commissioned from conmen and given a counterfeit Trump brandmark like any other Chinese knock off. It takes a collector’s eye to spot them easily. But don’t rely on the connoisseurs. The accusations don’t stand the test of examinations that reveal photo-shopped pictures in low resolution.

The tricks keep on coming. The goal is to deplete the resources of the enemy. This is a very different FBI from that which went after child kidnappers and broke up RICO schemes.

*“A World-historical individual is not so unwise as to indulge a variety of wishes to divide his regards. He is devoted to the One Aim, regardless of all else. It is even possible that such men may treat other great, even sacred interests, inconsiderately; conduct which is indeed obnoxious to moral reprehension. [moral objections are trumped by historical necessity – advancement of the State in borders and power] But so mighty a form must trample down many an innocent flower—crush to pieces many an object in its path.” – Hegel, Philosophy of History

Alf sounds desperate. Sounds like he’s just lobbing out volleys to see what sticks. Even the Beagle disputed Alf’s claims against the BCHC with actual figures. Alf is actually the 4th highest paid probation officer in the state. He made quite a bit in overtime. Some on this blog have said Alf is unemployed, is that true? Did he quit or get fired? Quite a bit of pressure to provide for his family if unemployed and counting on winning the sheriff job.

hmm. just did a payroll search. cthrupayroll.gov it looks like Alf’s 2022 salary is $143k. bowler’s is $172k this year and has been for awhile, but sheriff is a bigger job than probation chief, fair, but Alf said the Sheriff is about to get a raise if he gets re-elected, but that’s statewide

Alf and Bowler both agreed Bowler doesn’t set his own salary. Alf’s 2021 salary is around $141k. 2020 it says he made $135k. 2018 $132k 2016 $124k and so forth. It’s not an excessively high salary, but he’s top of a department, not a regular admin. The sheriff has a bunch of people making salaries similar to Alf, I think that’s how the budget gets bloated. Too many people making six figures and getting raises ever year, it becomes unstoppable, it’s like compounding interest. I looked and I can’t find any other year Alf got overtime or other pay or buyout maybe he cashed in some benefit he had coming, it’s not like he pays himself.

The eagle said that Alf made about $7000 in overtime (for a salaried position?) and almost the same in buyout which is usually buying vacation or sick time back (maybe this year when he’s on a “leave of absence”?). Alf is in charge of a Probation Office of a court that meets 2 days a week and yet he is the 4th highest paid in the state. Cliffy Nilan’s letter today also states Alf got the perfect attendance award. Do we give those to adults supposedly in charge of an office? During covid?? Perfect attendance from home??

Due process rights are basically the guarantee that a person has the right to the fair application of the law before they can be imprisoned, executed, or have their property seized. This concept is responsible for all the procedures that guarantee a fair trial no matter who you are.

Governmental actors violate due process when they frustrate the fairness of proceedings, such as when a prosecutor fails to disclose evidence to a criminal defendant that suggests they may be innocent of the crime, or when a judge is biased against a criminal defendant or a party in a civil action.

Persip only cares about the grift.

You can tell this is a wish list project,

Suns President and general manager Sander Stotland said the aged condition of the locker rooms is the “number one complaint” that is received from players.

“As far as functionality we get the job done here,” he said. “I really would like to see a little bit more for our players to entice them to come here.”

It’s a third rate league, functionality is what it is. Any great players are in a different league and would never play there. Know your limitations.

I lot of ballplayers have used what is there now and the even smaller ones before that. For some Wahconah Park was the last stop, others made it to the Hall of Fame. Its what they did on the field that mattered. And I don’t know much about where the asbestos is, If it is starting to deteriorate it has to go. If it still intact with no rips , leave it alone.

The 40 person survey of people’s opinions of North Street as reported by the Berkshire Eagle was interesting.

Likewise, on the local Facebook group, Pittsfield Sentinel, there is a similar survey.

The results are overwhelmingly contradictory to the B.E. article.

409 votes for I DON’T LIKE THE NEW NORTH ST
134 votes for I AVOID NORTH STREET
64 votes for I LIKE THE NEW NORTH STREET

61 – All changes are a waste of money
28 – It’s ridiculous and a waste of tax payers money do something for these kids so they have a place to go and be safe!!!
26 – It needs some additional changes
14 – Bike lane blows
8 – Undecided
5 – Riders are stuck between parked cars that could be pulling out, crossing over to the driving lane or someone opening a door to get in or out
4 – How is this safe for riders? Put the bike lane closest to the curb for safety reasons
4 – It’s fine. People just need to use the roadways properly
4 – What about Tyler St and the rotary?

So when we do the math:

681 – AGAINST North Street
68 – FOR North Street
8 – Undecided
4 – Totally off topic

Quite a striking difference I’d say. Obviously, this is a poll where people can add their own choices to vote for.

Which brings me to my next question. What the hell is going on on Tyler Street? Are we waiting for the snow to fall so we can avoid completing it for another five months?

To be clear, the 68 FOR NORTH STREET are Tyer, Barry, most city hall employees and all the people in line for ARPA handouts. But either way, her and Morales snow job is not working this time.
Another parallel snow job concerns all the fine folk who just toured Waconah park. Mr Persip, who I am sure is not biased just because he is tied to the mayors purse strings, said he was both shocked and amazed how bad things were. Several other embedded sycophants echoed those concerns. Unless the historical people can slow things down, look for this mayor and her benefactors to ram a new stadium up our collective asses as quickly as she can. And look for local media to be beating the new stadium drum relentlessly. I seem to recall the Eagle being very upset when they did not get a new stadium before. They may be licking their chops with revenge to see this dream project coming down the pike.

I can’t wait. No one is going to stop the Tyer train from getting what she wants. The only satisfaction we can get is to slow her down for a day or two and expose some of the players involved. But as there is zero oversight to her insane spending I am sure in a couple of years there will be a new ballpark (probably half as sturdy as the old one) which will cost 20 million taxpayer dollars and it will sit almost empty 99% of the time. Ya just gotta laugh at this mayor so that you don’t cry.

Charles Kronick

Slow down the gravy train? Forget it! Folk on the Council, many of them would like to do so, but they do not try hard enough. I’m afraid the reason may be that they take themselves seriously in the wrong fashion and are afraid to make an ass of themselves. That is a fatal cowardice if you want to lead. If you have that fear, you cannot ever be a leader. You simply cannot extract cowardice from the body or mind. I hope my fear is unfounded.

I accomplished that much – slowing the budgetary spending. With my tabling motion, the additional Council request for spending should have come back to the council for future negotiation and proof of plan and expectation. But, they then they went ahead and violated MGL by passing a budget that was changed post State deadline. They didn’t even act decently about it and split the appropriation a distinct vote for each additional appropriation and a motion to accept the May draft budget for adoption. The legal theory presented by ATTY Pagnatto depends upon the theory, probably arguable to a judge though not to me, that end results being the same the question of legality is moot in the eyes of the court wherein no monetary damages are claimed by either side. Again, the reason for no push back: possibly a fear of rebuke by the two journalists writing missives on the process. Or something else…

No, Fizzlehead, nothing gets slowed in the slightest. A request for fee adjustments, for example, to be effected months hence or a borrowing that will be contracted 12 months hence with no idea of its cost play out in session as this conceit (a form of delusion) that the request is a crisis.

If you want change, you need to find someone with a fire in the belly and get her on the Council. We need Morningsiders, Westsiders, gay, or straight who are courageous and willing to keep at it and not care about defeat or embarassment.

I am hoping Dan can speak directly to the Persips and Nilan types who visited and commented on the old stadium. Get them on video if possible. Get their exact words as to why they think the old stadium is in bad shape and why they feel qualified to judge it. Ask who they think is going to pay for a new stadium and who is going to use it to justify the expense. Ask exactly how much money the parks department has spent on all city parks since mayor Tyer took office. Include dog parks, lake parks, Clapp park and the Common as well as Dorothy Amos Park. ALL THE PARKS AND RELATED PARK STUFF. And include all already planned stuff like the Pontoosuc Lake rebirth. Get a physical paper rundown from Mr Kerwood on all park expenses for this time period. (if he even has a clue or any accurate records exist at all)

I might suggest that the only real value Waconah Park has is its hisstory and that if it is torn down do we really need to replace it at all? I say no. I say the baseball teams that have occupied it for the last ten years have cost the city more money than they have brought in.

Also, with all the other major problems in this city why are we even talking about this. Its priority should be way way down the list right now.

On the the way back I stopped at an eatery I still frequent, and was sadly informed they are closing end of year, in no small part, because of loss of revenue/customers due to asinine traffic and parking situations.

Sure, you can buy sex, drugs, and hardware. Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, Pittsfield was actually vibrant and dynamic, as was North Street. Now Pittsfield is a disgrace on every level, and like the mayor and the other politicans, it’s budget is bloated, biggly. Anyone with half a brain, and the means to move, would do so if they have young kids.

Five Interesting points:
1) Sheriff. All candidates for sheriff since Massi. names start with ‘B’ and are beefy. I find this interesting.
2) Berkhire Eagle is excited about the Bike Lanes. The picture shows the entire stretch and length, not one bike on it. Is also interesting. Penguin is connected to this.
3) U.S Federalism is dead because it is openly challenged by federal legislation and agencies. Divided power is a compromise and only exists when it is uncontested. I predict that FBI will enjoy reduced access in Free States, and this is just a symptom of our demise.
4) Mass governments are fomenting a rumor of danger to poll workers which I find implausible. The biggest risk to them I see is that they may park in the spot and get ticket. I find this interesting too.
5)Vote for Dewey button” in Scarface’s safe. Interesting because FBI was working hard to get Dewey elected. I claim dibs on spotting the reference.

“”Unfounded attacks on the integrity of the FBI erode respect for the rule of law and are a grave disservice to the men and women who sacrifice so much to protect others,” Christopher Wray said in a statement.”

This statement says all you need to hear to know where we have landed.

Where the Constitution states who is responsible for the protection of the People and exactly defines what that phrase means, the FBI has adopted it for itself. Is the FBI the primary level of Government? Second after Congress? Or is it a policing agency with restricted powers?

Notice the use of language – ‘attacks’. Attack implies violence or unreasonable arguments. The respones to the raid from lawyers, representatives, and others amount to concerns about governance. But directed towards the FBI they filter as attacks. ‘Sacrifice to protect others’ is a deflection: the concern is that they wield power in tyrannical fashion, not that they also, in some cases, protect. And there are concerns about the secondary qualifiers, ‘unfounded’, ‘grave.’ Unfounded: Wray wants to establish a conclusion before even the warrant is published, accused gets to defend himself or respond. Grave: Wray emphasises a level of endangerment to provoke an emotional response and justify the use of ‘attack.’ Very typical for propaganda masters of the ’30’s-’40’s.

The phrase ‘protecting others’ is a deflection from the concern that the FBI may be abusing power. Few disputes the good the FBI does, the arg. is about the bad.

Unfounded? Didn’t a jury in Michigan find that the FBI ran an entrapment scheme to change the 2020 election? Isn’t the Director from that illegal ploy now down in Washington, moved there before 1/6? So I don’t think you can claim unfounded citizen Wray

“U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart purportedly greenlighted the request allowing FBI agents to search Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach home of former President Donald Trump, a decision that reignited extreme partisan divides and raised serious questions about the potential for politically motivated prosecutions – yet this isn’t the first time that Reinhart’s determinations have caused controversy.

Before the Flat Tyer Administration invests in Wahconah Park, I suggest that they might want to check the stabilization of the second floor of City Hall. The weight of three of our do-nothing City Councillors, Marchetti, White and Persip, plus Flat Tyer may be jeopardizing the safety of those attending any meetings in the City Council Chambers. This would give them all a wonderful excuse to go back to ZOOM meetings. Also, since all of the members of the Wahconah Park committee don’t have any credentials in buildings and construction/renovations, I would suggest after viewing the picture on IBerkshires that the members at least make sure that Persip doesn’t accidentally sit on Cliff Nilan. What a bunch of useless members, they are just there because Flat Tyer mommy is opening her pocketbook strings and giving them a bunch of money to spend, with no questions asked, as usual.

I have had dealings with both men, one I would trust with the well-being of my kids, the other I wouldn’t trust to water the lawn when it was raining.
Tom is a man of integrity, honesty, decency, empathy, and above all competency.
Alf is none of those things.

Every misdeed that Alf accuses Tom of, is something Alf is actually guilty of. All that you are seeing is in his tantrums and mud slinging is Alf projecting his damaged character and underhandedness onto Tom.

Alf’s dad was a different cut, and I often wonder how the apple known as Alf fell so far from the tree. I can blame him for trying to protect his son and make sure he has a job, it’s both his greatest achievement and worst failure at the same time.
Alf is damaged to the core and not fit for public service. I feel very bad for the probationers under his “care”.
I will be voting for Thomas Bowler.

It should go without saying but I will also be voting for Timothy Shugrue. It’s time to get Berkshire county back on track.

I too know both men, and the fact is, you are right on the money, PR. The more people that Barbalunga meets and greets, the more votes he will lose, because it is readily apparent to all that he is a fraud, and full of baloney. That is why Bowler should have as many public forums with him as possible. Barbalunga cannot contain his arrogance, ignorance, and, pompousness. So the choice is clear, to all who have ever met the men, but the sherrif’s budget, just like the city budget, is bloated like all the politicians.

Thank you for acknowledging the bloat and favoritism culture of many tax payer funded agencies. I was very disappointed to read in the online Eagle today (8/14) about Jack Quinn making more $ in retirement working 20 hours per week combined with his pension than in his full-time employment at the BCHOC. Jack is a decent man but this is just not right. Alf, however, is totally disingenuous is asserting he will stop that nonsense. He is ALL ABOUT that nonsense. Again, I point to the fact that he was the 4th highest paid probation officer in the Commonwealth in fiscal year 2021 in a court that meets 2x per week, had the lowest case load. How did he make this $? With 8k of “overtime” and approx. 8k of “buy backs.” The probation department in the Commonwealth is fertile ground for BS compensation and has a history of political corruption. While there are several children of judges in Berkshire County that are employed by the Probation Department, all but Alf are good, hard-working, competent and honest.

Very true NA. It’s been commented on here before about the ARPA money doled out to Flat Tyer’s friends and co-workers. The three that really stand out are: Black Business Economic Council ($700,000), Second Chances on Second Street ($700,000) and Shirley Edgterton’s ROPES program ($500,000). *Shirley received over $1,000,000 in ARPA gifts.

The BBEC is led by Warren Dews, Shirley Edgerton, and Alfred Enchill. Warren’s wife, Roberta Dews, is Flat Tyer’s administrative assistant (conflict of interest), and Shirley is a city of Pittsfield school department employee (conflict of interest).

In the latest business summit held this past week for Berkshire County businesses starting out and/or in the beginning stages of their development, notably ABSENT from this summit was the BBEC. Why were they absent?

*In fairness to the BBEC, I did look up their calendar for upcoming events they are hosting for new black businesses. The BBEC will be hosting from August 18-21st, the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble.

Riddle me this, how does a dance ensemble help promote and establish new businesses? Wasn’t that the point of the ARPA grift….I mean gift?

Another question, did Warren and Shirley receive a “consulting fee” from the ARPA gift to help bring in the Cleo Parker Robinson dance troupe?

And finally, do the POC youth harass Cleo’s dance group, or is that just for YT’s rehearsing in the park?

Until recently not a day goes by that I haven’t cursed Alf for being transferred to Southern Berkshire. Well that is until he took his “unpaid leave of absence” to run for sheriff.
I can say the office is much better without him, less complaints, less BS, the entire court system is really rooting for Alf to be sheriff. Not that Bowler is doing a bad job, not in the least, he’s excellent but so Alf will get the flock out of here.
Ever see Green Mile? There’s a character in there called Percy, a sadistic, dim witted, mean, arrogant prick who doesn’t think any of the rules apply to him. That’s Alf. Or maybe Alf is the Hunter Biden of Berkshire County, both fit.
All the stuff you hear about Alf, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Dan here’s a tip, find Donna Sinopoli and talk to her. She has all the inside scoop. She worked with Alf in North County and can tell you the tale of what went down with Alf’s firing, I mean transfer.

Barbalunga, meantime, was the fourth highest-paid of 103 Massachusetts chief probation officers last year. For his work as chief probation officer of the Southern Berkshire District Court in Great Barrington, Barbalunga took home $160,676. His base salary was equal to his counterparts in other courts, but his total pay was bolstered by $8,687 in overtime and $8,275 in time buyouts.

READERS, I copied and pasted the above from the Berkshire EAGLE which is doing a fine job chasing down facts. This fact alone should be a major concern for voters. How is it that “no-show” ALF was the 4th highest paid probation officer in the Commonwealth of Mass in slow as molasses South County? What did he do to earn over 8k of overtime in fiscal year 2021? In an ideal world, any person getting arrested and charged with another crime while out on PR/bail, should have it (bail) revoked and sent to jail until the case is complete.

Maximus better be a big guy. With the charges he’s racking up, when he gets to state prison, the booty-bandits will turn Maximus into Maxine.

Surely you must know that 99.9% of the stuff that goes on in the city of Pittsfield is never reported in the local newspaper. I took the information I posted off the allegedly official police press log. But even the official Pittsfield police press log doesn’t report all the shit that goes on in Pittsfield and it never publishes information when there are calls for domestic violence or drunk driving and/or impaired driving under the influence of drugs, with or without hit & run collisions, or disturbing the peace, or disorderly conduct, or theft, vandalism, child abuse/child neglect when it involves law enforcement/city/state officials/municipal employees and their families.

Karen Bell worked in Hamden County as an ADA. She was roundly disliked in the office there, she was known to pleaded as much out as she could because she was 50/50 at trial.
She’s purely a Harrington hire. She’s the DA as Harrington doesn’t know WTF she’s doing. She writes all the reports and does all of the DA work.

She told a friend in Hamden, “the office is way better off when Andrea aka BB (for bottle blonde) is out of the office on her little photo ops.”

More information coming out today about the politically motivated raid on President Trump’s home. The FBI is trying to say that these documents were all classified, but President Trump had a rule that any documents he brought home with him were immediately declassified. Hillary, however, wasn’t president of the United States and had no authority to declassify or classify any documents so all of her documents that she was bleach bitting and hammering were classified documents. Hillary even had the nerve to come out today and say that Trump was going to give the documents to Putin. She was the one canoodling with Russia with her phony dossier on Trump. These people are pathetic.

Pat
Pat

Also the FBI took far more boxes from Trump’s residence than were listed on the warrant. Boxes that were next to other boxes that they were just grabbing without bothering to see what was in them. This proved that this wasn’t about so-called classified documents, but it was a fishing expedition to try to get information about January 6th using the phony excuse of the documents to get onto his property.

Many documents taken by the FBI were also Attorney-Client privilege documents. The DOJ is now opposing a third party independent master to go over the documents which Donald Trump had requested. Of course they are refusing.

Dan you know Flat is only thinking about how much of those millions of dollars to fix up Deming Park will end up back in her pockets.

It’s like Wahconah Park. I believe Flat is viewing these large million plus dollar projects and the kickbacks associated with them, as her “golden parachute” to exit the corner office with.

They are a great resource. But they should not be so prioritized to the detriment of so many other more needed things.

And they should not be constantly upgraded to such a grand scale mainly to funnel money to the contractors and side benefactors.

I agree with you for once TSC.

Like I posted above, a business summit held this week and the BBEC is absent.

That $700,000 ARPA grift that the BBEC was “awarded,” could have gone a long way towards Wahconah Park, among other things in need of repair.

Then again, how would Shirley ever have been able to afford an African trip without the ROPES ARPA (grift) money on a Pittsfield Public School employee’s salary?

Let me guess, she was “recruiting black teachers?”

Was OB and the DIE Office apart of this business trip?

What? This isn’t part of tyer’s Pittsfield beatification program? Are you sure the artist[s] weren’t paid to create this masterpiece. And is that “Fuck the COPS?” Maybe this is a cry for help from one or more of Pittsfield’s disadvantaged underage youths. Maybe someone with DADDY issues. But honestly, how would underage youths get their hands on cans of spray paints. I mean, if the artist[s] had riddled the storage unit with bullet holes I wouldn’t even question how Pittsfield’s disadvantaged youths get their hands on guns?

The Berkshire Eagle coverup continues

Cops have been told to call any scooter complaint a motor vehicle complaint so as to coverup how many calls there are.

Saw a guy with a gun (white) and a 6 year old kid (black with no helmet), riding a scooter on North Street. Called it in, I don’t even see the call in the log.

And so why would they want to cover it up unless it was so bad it was a major embarrassment to the mayor?/ We need to start positng pictures so the mayor cannot continue to hide all the issues the scooters are causing. Get video if you can. And why would a police chief go along with this?

Any chance Shirley could use some of her $1,200,000 ARPA grifts to try and educate young POC to become productive citizens?

Of course, aren’t they always…

I wish you luck with the DA debate. I’m still not convinced the DA will show up.

If I were setting odds in Vegas:

*family emergency/illness (7/2)
*police incident/meeting she’s “needed” (even money)
*she attends (2/1)

My bet is with #1

If she does attend and you can ask questions, I’d love to know (1) why the black female who staged a racial-kidnapping hoax at Simon’s Rock College, was never criminally charged, and (2) how much did that “investigation” cost Berkshire County taxpayers?

Best of luck!!
