PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION APRIL 21-3, 2023) — THE PLANET has to laugh. President Joe Biden and House speaker Kevin McCarthy recently released their respective (but not respected) budget “visions.”

Reminds us of a brief back-and-forth in the comments section regarding the alleged “left” and “right” of the government in the United States of Amnesia. THE PLANET made the point that these two divisions are more like diversions, not polar opposites as the surface view wants you to believe but bipolar disorders stemming from, what else?, the desire for power.

Both parties have long gone rogue in service to the Big Money interests that control elections. The financiers hedge their political investments, of course, with only the idiot ideologues actually “believing” in what they are doing. The rest cover their bets by donating equally or in proportion to the odds of winning.

With recent presidential elections being 50-50, it’s become more expensive to own politicians, not that this has proven too great a hurdle for the deep pockets that lurk in the shadows.  The only president of recent times who wasn’t owned and could therefor act freely was the independently wealthy Donald Trump. That situation still described Trump, which is why so many at so bent (and we mean bent) on silencing him.

———- ooo ———-

Of course, partisan politics being what they are, Biden sniped at McCarthy for releasing an alternative plan. How dare he?

Bottom line, Syracuse Joe’s budget would increase the federal debt from $31 trillion to just south of $35 trillion. “Body Snatcher” McCarthy’s version would “only” add a trifle more than a measly trillion.

A trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon they’ll be talking about real money … except that real money doesn’t exist. Our “dollars” are backed by NOTHING. They used to be pieces of paper. Now, they’re not even that, just photons in cyberspace.

Scary.

From wire reports:

“You and the American people should know about the competing economic visions of the country that are really at stake right now,” Biden said at a union training facility in Accokeek, Maryland. “Just two days ago, the speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, went to Wall Street to drive home the MAGA economic vision for America.”

“He proposed a huge cuts [to] programs that millions of hardworking and middle class Americans count on,” Biden said, calling McCarthy’s agenda “the same old trickle down dressed up in MAGA clothing.”

Biden has sharpened his criticism of McCarthy and House Republicans’ economic plans as tensions over the debt limit grow and the president eyes an expected re-election announcement. The White House has accused McCarthy of failing to make a counteroffer to the president’s budget, risking the country’s faith and credit in the process.

“America is not a deadbeat nation, we meet our obligations. … No one should do anything to jeopardize the full faith and credit of the United States of America,” Biden said Wednesday. “They say we’re going to default unless I agree to all these wacko notions of theirs.”

———- ooo ———-

Remember, folks. Biden is the guy who non-campaigned from his basement promising to unite a fractured America.

THE PLANET asks you: How’d that turn out?

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Sarcasm: Joe Biden recently called me for public financial management advice. I told the 46th U.S. President that he should stop printing at least $7 trillion to possibly over $10 trillion out of thin air. He asked me why? I told him that the federal government can only run the printing presses for so long until there is hyperinflation. He said that every other country plays the same financial shell games, and that if he didn’t spend over $10 trillion per fiscal year, then it would put our economy and country at a disadvantage. I told him to please stop calling Putin insulting names and threating Xi with WW3, and instead please work with them to financially restructure the Central Banks around the world. He told me that Putin and Xi have teamed up together to bypass his presidential administration, and that the only way for him to counter them is to continue to print trillions of more federal dollars out of thin air to keep their foreign economies in debt. He asked me about the Republicans in the Swamp who want to limit federal spending to counter inflation. I told him that while his opposition are hypocrites on many levels, he should agree to an audit to show where all of his “Biden Buck$” went to. He told me that a would-be audit would show that the Swamp spends trillion of dollars to fund the military industrial complex, endless war(s), arms sales, Wall Street and K Street, and bureaucracy. I told him that the Swamp’s spending binge is contributing to the U.S.A. being the second largest polluter of global warming gas emissions second only to China, which burns a lot of coal – the U.S.A.’s burning of coal is 20 percent of our nation’s energy supply. He told me that China and the U.S.A. account for a little less than 50 percent of the world’s global warming gas emissions. If he didn’t spend a little less than $1 trillion per fiscal year on the Pentagon, which is the single largest polluter of global warming gas emissions in the world, then China’s huge military would soon become more powerful than our nation’s huge military. I told him that we are going around in circles like a dog chasing its own tail. He told me that he is 80 years old and that in about a decade from now, he won’t be around to deal with the costly outcomes of his over 50-year political career in the Swamp. I told him that we will be happy about that, but we will still be paying for it. Joe Biden said that he enjoys spending our money so we should just let him continue to spend our country into oblivion. I told him that may not be a winning campaign message. He said that he will still win in 2024 because he will blame Donald Trump for it all. I told him that my dog ate my homework. The 46th U.S. President patted me on the back.

THE PLANET’s second-to-none literary skills are impressive but do not imply accuracy of content. Money drives politics, that is for sure, but making a simplistic moral equivalency assertion that right/left don’t exist ignores reality.

We need to vow that we’ll accept election results whether we agree with them or not. To not do so means supporting authoritarian autocracy vs. democracy.

The reason the radical right is only willing to accept election results if they win is because they know they are in the minority, and so the only way they can implement their minority positions on guns, abortion, affirmative action, regressive taxation, isolationism etc. is by autocratic fiat, because their views don’t enjoy broad popular support. That is the coward’s way out.

The answer lies in ethics and the truth. Anyone who tells you the truth doesn’t matter has a vested interest in avoiding the truth.

The left can’t handle the truth. If they could they would learn from the way their policies are NOT working in Europe. How the Europeans are now fighting against these extreme transgender policies and seeing them for how dangerous they are with young children being mutilated and told they are in the wrong body. Americans are charging ahead with Drag Queen Story Hour and trying to normalize taking the innocence away from children. The only ones avoiding the truth on so many issues from the border to drugs and climate hysteria is the left and some RINOS on the right.

Wanna that post is sarcasm, like JM’s post above correct?

“Radical right” doesn’t want…..Let’s talk about what the “radical right” doesn’t want.

(1) Gun Control. I’ll make a deal with you, when the government starts in the inner cities like Chicago, NYC, LA, and DC, by grabbing the guns from the young POC drug dealers and gang bangers first, then we’ll talk. Until then, unarm me and let the thugs keep their guns? That’s a big F#CK Y@U from me.

(2) Abortion is not a fundamental right; therefore, it’s a state issue. The 10th Amendment covers this. If you expect me (a taxpayer) to fund abortions for those who use it like birth control, see my above answer.

(3) Affirmative Action has been going strong since the 1990’s under Bill Clinton, especially for black people. So much so, that Asian students have been discriminated against in favor of black students repeatedly over the years.

Helen “Handgun” Moon, you should take a look at these two articles when you’re not getting locked up by white cops for being an Asain female.

UT affirmative action case divides Asian-Americans (chron.com) (2012)

Supreme Court Will Hear Challenge to Affirmative Action at Harvard and U.N.C. – The New York Times (nytimes.com) (2022)

But it’s white privilege, huh wanna?

(4) Regressive taxation, you mean like the one China Joe Xiden just did to those who take care of their financial obligations versus those who do not:

Joe Biden to hike payments for good-credit homebuyers to subsidize high-risk mortgages – Washington Times

I’ll await your response. Please try and post a NON-TRUMP reply. He’s been out of office over two years now.

Where have all the adults gone?? Politicians need to say NO to higher tax and spend policies. Time for a balanced budget amendment, come on Brandon and TFB!! To get rid of our debt the US should take China to court for unleashing the COVID virus on the US and causing all this death and destruction since 2020. Let’s sue them for a even $100 trillion that should right our books a little, Now if only Chuckie and Pelosi had listened to the orange MAGA man and stopped all flights from China in Jan 2020, I wonder if things would have turned out differently.

Biden claimed to want to unite the country, but he hasn’t met with McCarthy in over 75 days regarding the budget. He has zero interest in negotiation. Donald Trump is independent minded not just because of all of his money, but that is his personality. He wasn’t going to agree with everything the Swamp (Cesspool) told him to do. That’s a big no no in today’s version of government where so many on the right and the left are forced to walk in lockstep toward fascism.

If MCLA can get 2.6 million greenbacks to give up dorm space to homeless folk how much could mayor Tyer and her friends get for Pittsfield High sochol? Could this be the incentive she has been waiting for to go to one high school? Maybe.

And how many buses of homeless folk from Boston will it take to fill all the dorm space in North Adams? How long will it take for the homeless with Boston accents to discover that they can do better pan handling in Pittsfield than North Adams?

This is the trajectory, hidden as it may be. Have you ever tried to converse with a homeless person from Boston who is missing his front teeth? It is like talking to a large snake. One big hissing sound with waving arms.

MCLA is being reckless and greedy. North Adams is a small city of 12,000. This homeless shelter is too large and will put too much strain on the cities resources. The State should have these facilities in cities of population over 100,000. If it passes so will MCLA , good bye money whores.

Heard that Roberta Dews, Tyer’s Asst., has taken a VP of Marketing job with Greylock Federal CU. That would explain why Greylock is “reaching out” to extend financing to the black, hispanic & immigrant crowd in their recent Eagle ad. Very racist and “woke,” isn’t it? Now that many banks are on shaky ground, they think this is a good policy to follow? How about extending financing to those who are financially stable instead of selecting customers based on skincolor or immigrant status? Geez!

Yo, use mean dis letter bro???

“In the past week we have all witnessed tragic events across our country. Even as communities work to recover from COVID-19, we are now confronted with the aftershocks from the brutal death of George Floyd, and from the countless murders of other Black Americans through the months, the years, and the centuries of our national struggle with racism.

The truth is that the daily brutality of racism is not confined to law enforcement or the criminal justice system. The insidious force of racism pervades every system in America and Berkshire County, from housing to education, to government and media, and to the business community and the financial system. So while we must confront and mourn the reality of Mr. Floyd’s horrific death, all of us in positions of influence must also commit every ounce of our energy to changing our own practices inside of our organizations and industries.

I am grateful for the leadership of our volunteer Board of Directors and employees at Greylock Federal who have committed to long-term change across the domains of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. We have made progress in changing our hiring practices and policies, and we have expanded access in many meaningful ways. But we know that we have a long way to go to achieve true financial inclusion, and I deeply appreciate the counsel of Black leaders, advisers and mentors in helping us shape our approach.

At a rally this past weekend I heard a group of young protesters chanting, “No justice, no peace.” Achieving real, sustained social justice requires achieving economic justice. And economic justice relies upon an inclusive financial system, and upon inclusive business practices. This work starts with me, and people who look like me, who are in positions of leadership.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by bad people but the silence over that by the good people.” So, people of Berkshire County, where is our voice? Where is our action? What are we willing to do to assist people of color and show our belief that we are all truly created equal?

We need to listen respectfully to our Black neighbors and colleagues, and we need to act, now and for generations to come. Precious lives depend on us making real and systemic changes.

This letter is offered with the full endorsement of Greylock Federal’s Board of Directors.”

It’s “Black”with a capitol B to the Wokeaholes, or is it Woke A Holes? it’s okay for the blacks to call each other “nigger, left and right, but us white folk have to say “the N word”, lest there be hurt feelings in the black community, even when reporting what someone else said, in news print. Main stream media darling blacks, for the most part, couldn’t care less about black lives, as evidenced by their silence concerning the extreme violence amongst black males, which Kamela, Booker, Sharpton, Jackson, Obama and their ilk ignore like Tyer ignores the bums of the corner, and this Black Crime Problem (BCP) is the root cause of Pittsfield’s violent crime problem which, as I recall, Tyler wasn’t going to tolerate!

That just follows the convention that you can’t use an ethnic slur unless you yourself are a member of that group. Being from the Pitt, in high school we used the slurs in mixed company. When I went to boot camp I found out real quick that members of ethnic minorities don’t appreciate the slurs unless you also belong to that group.

Pete White is predicted to be the next President of the City Council if/when Pete Marchetti moves up to the corner office. Pete White has endorsed Pete Marchetti for Mayor in 2023. He thinks that Pete Marchetti is the best qualified to lead Pittsfield politics. Pete White talks about the city’s so-called “Free Cash”. He said that ARPA money is going towards homelessness.

Pittsfield city council Vice President Pete White makes pitch for 5th term as at-large rep | WAMC

My thoughts about Pete White are that he doesn’t sound like he does all that much on the City Council, but he says that he listens to people’s concerns. He is on the side of Mayor Linda Tyer, Peter Marchetti and the big spenders of “Kapanski Ka$h”, while he talks about high taxes and the city’s homelessness crisis. There is no talk of economic development with living wage jobs for the working-class families in Pittsfield.

The mental health issues platform seems like a workaround of the generations of job loss in Pittsfield. If one is living on the streets without a roof over their heads, then one is going to experience mental health issues in one’s distressed life. Pittsfield has become a magnet for poor people and families with mental health issues who rely on social services agencies to survive. The problem with that is illustrated by North Street’s 15 empty storefronts.

The worst part about it all is that the career politicians only do DISSERVICES to the common people and distressed “Gateway” cities such as Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The career politicians are NOT doing anything to bring back living wage jobs to places like Pittsfield. Instead, the common people get SCAMMED with $50 scratch tickets, marijuana and alcohol, and taxpayer-funded social services to keep them with just enough money to buy more lottery tickets, pot and booze. In closing, Pete White sounds like another typical career politician in Pittsfield politics!

Is it true that Mr White is being groomed for next city council president? Has his role as self appointed mayoral apologist already won him the big chair even before the election? Has his dexterity with his own puppet strings garnered him status as a revered rubber stamper? With a predictable 8-3 council is city council president really ever in doubt?

One more reason the Pittsfield quicksand will get thicker. You cannot overcome this good old boy power. Strongly consider moving those you love to a less hostile city or town. Yes, there are other bad places. No place is perfect but why raise your family in a city that eats its own? Pittsfield is like the female preying mantis. It screws you and then devours your exhausted body.

Get out and stop procrastinating about it. You owe it to your family.

Re: Are you really surprised, Erin Leahy at Act on Mass?

Hello Erin Leahy at Act on Mass,

Thank you for your political email about the fictional Massachusetts State Representative Sellout Shakedown’s vote to giveaway tens of billions of dollars per fiscal year in state tax breaks to the top 1 percent, while the common people have to pound sand with the lottery SCAM’s $50 scratch ticket and other (voluntary) regressive taxation schemes.

Throughout my life in our otherwise cruel world, when I complain about human behavior and human nature’s dark side, people close to me often respond by saying to me, “Are you really surprised, Jon Melle?” I respond by saying that while I understand that people are selfish and use conflict for their own interests, it still hurts me. They respond by saying that I am too sensitive, and that I should be able to deal with and cope with it. It is probably one of the main reasons why I am a 100 percent service connected disabled Veteran.

I hope that people will contact their respective one of forty Massachusetts State Senators to request that they please vote down the State House of Representatives’ 150 – 3 vote on the fiscal year 2024 state budget that gives away so much state dollars in tax breaks to the wealthiest residents and businesses. But, once again, I will not really be surprised when the State Senators vote for the proposed state budget that the State House voted for.

Best wishes,

Jonathan A. Melle

Hello greedy lobbyist Dan Bosley,

I read your op-ed in the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) today, and it comes as NO surprise to me that you are against helping to house the homeless families in a building at the MCLA campus. Some of your concerns are legitimate, but your public record as a corrupt career politician turned greed-ball registered lobbyist on Beacon Hill is illegitimate.

Please allow me to remind you and everyone else out there of your public record in Boston.

Then North Adams State Representative Dan Bosley voted for Speakers of the State House of Representatives who later became Convicted Felons: Tom Finneran and Sal DiMasi.

Then North Adams State Representative Dan Bosley sponsored the failed “Bosley Amendment” that was a secretive rider to legislation that would have given big businesses in Massachusetts the single largest tax break worth billions of dollars in the history of state government.

Dan Bosley is a greedy lobbyist in Boston (and beyond) whereby he earns a 6-figure salary legally bribing the fictional Massachusetts State Representative Sellout Shakedown to give huge state tax breaks for his special interest clients.

Then North Adams State Representative Dan Bosley opposed then Governor Deval Patrick’s push for casino gambling in Massachusetts because he didn’t want it to cut into the state lottery’s profits.

Dan Bosley has two residences: One in North Adams and the other in Boston, which means he lives the high life.

Dan Bosley is NOT volunteering his time at the homeless shelters and/or animal shelters, yet he criticizes the state for its systemic failures in funding and providing social services for the homeless families.

Dan Bosley wrote several op-eds praising PAC Man Richie Neal, who is the Congressman from Springfield who is in the pocket of K Street lobbyist firms’ special interests, especially insurance companies.

Dan Bosley wrote an unfavorable op-ed about then Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington prior to the Fall 2022 election, but Hell would freeze over if he wrote similar op-eds about his own public record.

Dan Bosley says he comes from a very poor family, attended MCLA many decades ago, and fought for the college when he was a State Representative from North Adams until 2011, but the reality is that Dan Bosley favors big government and big business over the common people.

When my dad, Bob, was a Berkshire County Commissioner (1997 – mid-2000), he called Dan Bosley “reprehensible”, and Dan Bosley was not very nice to my dad back then. Dan Bosley said that I, Jon Melle, am a man with no character. What a (not) nice guy, Dan Bosley!

Dan Bosley unsuccessfully ran for Berkshire County Sheriff in 2010 to try to double his state pension.

Dan Bosley voted against Clean Elections that unsuccessfully tried to drive big money out of state politics. Dan Bosley made his way in life by being in the pocket of the special interests.

It has been written in blog posts that Dan Bosley is said to collect up to two Massachusetts state pensions plus public perks, which is on top of his greed-ball lobbyist salary. I have a blog post that sarcastically says that Massachusetts should pay their taxes to Dan Bosley instead of to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts because it would be more direct and cut out the middleman.

Why is it O.K. for Dan Bosley to receive so many financial benefits from the state taxpayers of Massachusetts, but he is against homeless families having a roof over their heads in a building on the MCLA campus? When I look up hypocrisy and a man who lives his life by double standards, I see a picture of Dan Bosley standing on the word “GREED”!

In closing, I do NOT understand why the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) publishes Dan Bosley’s op-eds and letters hypocritically criticizing other politicians who do not line his own pockets with money without the aforementioned facts about Dan Bosley’s public record in Boston.

Happy Earth Day (It would be nice if you, Dan Bosley, lived in the real world),

Jonathan A. Melle

Dan Bosley is correct in arguing against housing homeless and illegal immigrants on the campus of MCLA. Forcing migrants into the already economically suffering North Adams area would be a huge strain on their local social service agencies. Bosley is correct in arguing that the migrants should be accommodated in cities with a population of over 100,000 where their local economy would have more opportunities for assimilation.

I would encourage all Western MA citizens to read Dan Bosley’s article in today’s Berkshire Eagle. It is very well written and I completely agree with Bosley’s points.

Hello Dan Bosley,

There are two responses to my blog post open letter to you today on Planet Valenti.

I was surprised that the aforementioned two blog posts are in your favor. I guess that your public record in Boston of being all about the Almighty Dollar by serving the special interests didn’t factor into your opposition to providing housing to homeless families in North Adams, Massachusetts.

I have long believed that there should be no such thing as homelessness in the U.S.A. (and beyond). Rather, I believe that the government should invest in the people it serves. Instead, the government only does DISSERVICES to the common people, and in return, the career politicians enrich themselves and their wealthy campaign donors at the public trough.

I, Jon Melle, must stand alone in my belief that the government has a moral obligation to end homelessness and invest in people so that the underclass has a chance for social mobility into the middle class in their distressed lives. You, Dan Bosley, unfortunately stand among the people in your belief that families may be at risk of being homeless, and that greedy lobbyists like yourself come before the people who need social services the most.

This just in. GB police have concluded the investigation into racial slurs and swastikas being carved into the sand at lake Mansfield.

After reviewing cameras from Bard College at Simons Rock, three African American students have been identified as the culprits.
They were seen on video walking in that direction and seen coming back to campus with what looked like a child’s plastic toy shovel.
The shovel has been recovered and it matches the toy set left at the beach for children to play with.

I know why she was never charged. It’s the same reason why people with no discernible work ethic or job skills are given horshesh!t created positions like, Cultural Competency Coach.

Then are allowed to spend taxpayer money on fruitless “North Carolina black teacher recruiting” trips and then taking your family and friends on an all expense (taxpayer) paid African junket.

Good point! That’s the first persuasive argument for the hate crime designation.

In laws and social policies, for every benefit promised, there is an equal detriment imposed elsewhere. EG: higher wages (at the point of diminishing margins) benefit the employeed, reduce hours for others. In the case of Hate Crime legislation, the status permits an aggressive approach, but also elevates the acts making them more popular, especially where the perpetrators know that they will not be charged whether it’s a hoax or not.

There are damages, though not to a specific individual. The hoax is designed to elicit suspicion and retribution (via the police) against white folk who presumably would make those marks. It is also designed to inflame jews who are expected to be reactive to nazi-hoaxes.

So, it’s a ‘hate crime’ if you will, or maybe we should go back to the better days when crimes were treated as just crimes, without bonus points for the targets.

Writing in sand is definitely not a criminal act. It doesn’t matter what is etched in. It’s not a crime no matter what.

Was it wet cement?

”Hate crime”, any criminal act coupled with overt actions motivated by bigotry and bias including, but not limited to, a threatened, attempted or completed overt act motivated at least in part by racial, religious, ethnic, handicap, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation prejudice, or which otherwise deprives another person of his constitutional rights by threats, intimidation or coercion, or which seek to interfere with or disrupt a person’s exercise of constitutional rights through harassment or intimidation.

Re: If Sara Bengualid Goldstein only knew about greed-ball Dan Bosley’s inequitable politics

Sara Bengualid Goldstein wrote an op-ed in the MetroWest Daily News publicly advocating for the Massachusetts State Legislature to make funding for free school meals for all students a permanent public policy. But if Sara Bengualid Goldstein only knew about greed-ball Dan Bosley’s inequitable politics then she would understand why it is still a temporary policy.

I have studied greed-ball Dan Bosley for decades of my adult life. He is a retired North Adams State Representative who ran for Berkshire County Sheriff to try to double his state pension, but he lost the 2010 election to Tom Bowler. While Dan Bosley retired from Beacon Hill, like most state lawmakers in Boston, Dan Bosley never left Beacon Hill. Dan Bosley, who has residences in both North Adams and Boston, collects his public state pension plus public perks, and on top of that, Dan Bosley earns a 6-figure salary as a registered lobbyist on Beacon Hill.

Dan Bosley supports (voluntary) regressive taxation schemes such as the multibillion-dollar Massachusetts State Lottery and the like because he makes money when the low- to moderate-income common people pay more and more of their limited financial resources in state taxes so that he is able to lobby for millions of dollars in additional tax breaks for the wealthy top 1 percent. When Dan Bosley was a State Rep. many years ago now, he sponsored a secretive rider to state legislation to give big businesses in and around Boston billions of dollars in state tax breaks. While “The Bosley Amendment” failed, it still is the single largest state tax break proposal in the history of state government in Massachusetts.

Dan Bosley is being praised during this rainy “April Showers” Spring weekend for opposing a proposed homeless shelter for around 50 homeless families in Massachusetts that would be in a building on the MCLA campus in North Adams. I seem to stand alone in criticizing Dan Bosley’s op-ed in the Dirty Bird (Berkshire Eagle) rag (newspaper). I believe that the government, including Beacon Hill, should use their limited public funds to Invest in People, while Dan Bosley sees my belief in ending homelessness and hunger as an obstacle to his greedy pursuit of the Almighty Dollar.
