PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, WEDNESDAY AUG. 30, 2023) — If all goes well, this post will be published today. While THE PLANET enjoys hiatus status, we have added the “activate and publish” function to the responsibilities of our Army of Robots (AOR).

Yes, the appearance of this post is proof. In our absence, the AOR has handled the task of publishing this column. It doesn’t sound like much, but it is nothing short of amazing.

In our absence, the army been performing well in its usual roles of security, monitoring, moderation, and system updates. The AOR still needs THE PLANET to actually write the stuff, but no doubt some day soon that will be automated as well. Even now, our backstage arrangements include a type of artificial intelligence (AI) based on algorithms designed by the techies.

AI’s handling of the Comment Line has been nothing short of flawless.

Just a few years ago, this would have been the realm of science fiction.

By way of update, our next  post will be published on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

The Comment Line is open.

PEDA is 25 years old. That is a little over 4 years longer than Smitty Pignatelli has been in Boston. I don’t know which one is the bigger debacle. PEDA has millions of dollars in always increasing unfunded liabilities. Smitty Pignatelli and his fellow corrupt career politicians in Boston are still sitting on over $7.22 billion in surplus state cash. PEDA is polluted with GE’s PCBs. Boston is corrupt and secretive, and the fictional Massachusetts State Representative Sellout Shakedown gives away tens of billions of dollars in state tax breaks every two years to his wealthy campaign donors. The only thing that is worse than PEDA and Smitty Pignatelli is Jimmy Ruberto’s Rolodex!

Unfortunately, that has nothing to do with running a 200 million dollar budget in a city of mostly senior and lower income people with poor schools, too much crime and homelessness.

One only has to look at the results of the TYER administration to see how little lawn signs and bullshit have to do with running a city. And any fool can put up lawns signs and knock on doors and get money from special interests looking for favors down the line.

What the city needs is someone who actually cares and I do not see Krol as that person by a long shot.

Shark. When I see lawn signs and hear bs I know that the resident living at the site of the lawn sign is either a gobsig or a low intelligence individual. It is certain that these type individuals have no idea as to what it takes to run the city. In a sense they are dangerous. If they do vote it is with their eyes closed. They are the impediment to good democracy. THERE IS AMPLE MEDIA COVERAGE for a candidate to get their view points out to the informed citizens of our city. The uninformed can lead us to doom as was the case when secretary tyer was voted in as mayor. We all know how that turned out. Listen to the candidates for public office. It is easy to spot who is a lawn sign and full of bs. In the mayor’s race I have identified two who fit the bill. The intelligent know who I am speaking of. Do you know. Your answer will tell you if you are a lawn sign or a B-l-sh-t-r. Are you harmless or dangerous? Let’s all vote using our intelligence. I will have a few lawn signs but I certainly am not a lawn sign or a bull–s-it-r

Is anyone surprised to see this article? Did anyone NOT expect a major hit job on the blue collar candidate? Did the tone of the article suggest someone was enjoying writing it? Chuckling perhaps? Does the article suggest some deep desparation that Karen could actually pull off an upset over the highly backed special interest candidates Krol or Marchetti?

We knew this kind of crap would be coming down the pike as we got closer to the election and there will be more of it. These are the kind of people we are dealing with and so I will be spreading the word further and further as to why we need an outsider candidate and not the embedded type which have done so much damage already.

An article about something that did happen is how two guys, with no community support, got signs up everywhere in a day. That’s interesting. What’s the mechanism?

If/when Karen Kalinowsky is a would-be Mayor of Pittsfield politics, she could use the “I was given incorrect information” card when the shit hits the fan. Let us not forget that Karen Kalinowsky’s whole campaign for Mayor of Pittsfield politics is based on her being outgoing Mayor Linda Tyer’s biggest critic. Karen Kalinowsky says that she will “budget by necessity”, but I wonder if she thinks it is necessary for her to collect her city public plus perks which would be on top of the mayoral salary of $115,725 per fiscal year 2024 with annual public pay raises built in over the next couple of fiscal years. If/when she would step down from the mayor’s office, Karen Kalinowsky would double her city pension. Karen Kalinowsky makes state public pensioner and greedy registered lobbyist Dan Bosley blush due to her own greed-ball schemes to enrich herself at the public trough.

Even the founder of the Weather Channel, John Coleman, knew it was BS and even called “climate change” a hoax.

Let me guess, in your world the Ayatollah John Kerry knows more about the climate and weather, than a veteran meteorologist who developed The Weather Cahnnel.

Why, because a D-after his name Prof?

You are aware most scientists will back up the cause and/or entity who is funding their research? If not, funding dries up and those scientists with their PhD’s will be finding new employment in another career field.

Governor Hokul is refusing to allow illegal immigrants to be spread throughout New York and the liberal globalist media is spreading the lie that New York conservative neighborhoods don’t want to take in the migrants. Would Hokul be protecting conservatives? It’s more of the media trying to fool the public. Hokul is protecting wealthy Democrats who are all for this invasion of illegal immigrants as long as it doesn’t upset their neighborhoods. Mayor Eric Adams is saying these immigrants need to be spread throughout New York and the country. He is singing a different tune than when Florida and Texas were taking in all the immigrants. That was OK and nobody in the Northeast thought we even had a problem with the illegal immigrant invasion until Abbott and DeSantos started busing them to sanctuary cities in the Northeast. Total hypocrisy.
Governor Maura Healey is calling in the National Guard for Massachusetts to help with the invasion.

Big cities are quietly shipping many to cities like Pittsfield. I cannot fathom the mindset of people who think this immigration horde is going to work out well for anybody involved.

In controlled moderation everyone wins. But an uncontrolled free flow of people needing and draining food, housing, education and medical resources is asinine. And if the people promoting and allowing it think they will somehow not have their lives negatively effect they will soon find out otherwise.
After Covid their was a shortage of people in the medical field, education, law enforcement, and other key jobs.
The camels back is breaking as we speak.

The Pittsfield mayoral candidates need to be asked about this issue. How will the candidates handle the state sending more and more illegal immigrants to Pittsfield? How will local schools deal with the fact that many of these immigrants do not speak English and none have been vaccinated for any diseases? People went crazy about making sure kids were vaccinated for COVID before attending school, but now immigrants are not being tested for any diseases. What about an already poor local housing situation and the impact of having more and more people pouring in? The boring broadsheet is, of course, totally ignoring and hiding the situation.

So the City of Pits Administration is at it again. Seems like slimy Bike Lane Morales has taken it upon himself to decide that many of the streets that were on the list to be paved this year are too fat. He has decided to thin them out, some examples are Ann Drive, California Avenue and Lakeway Drive. Evidently, he and his Mama Linda decided this would slow traffic down. Can’t help but wonder if the Ward Councilors and Councilors at Large were aware of these change to the roads and if so why were taxpayers not notified of these changes to their streets and front lawns? Seems like some type of communication should have been sent out. Also, does Morales have the authority to make these changes without a traffic study? How many more streets is this Administration going to be allowed to screw up?

Kinda hard to get inside thse peoples heads. Big road changes on West street against the wishes of the area residents but narrow roads elsewhere.

By the way. A large group of people walk daily on Ann drive to get exercise. WTF

Letter: Marchetti provides leadership, vision for Pittsfield

To the editor:
I am honored to support Pete Marchetti for mayor.
Over the last 35 years, Pete has demonstrated true dedication and love for our city through his work in the banking industry, his unparalleled time spent as a volunteer for numerous community organizations and his nearly two decades of service on the Pittsfield City Council, the last eight as City Council president.
While I served on the Pittsfield School Committee, Pete worked to ensure that the School Committee was an important part of the budget formulation process in cooperation with the City Council. Each January, we would be included in the city’s annual midyear financial review and audit analysis, providing us with a solid understanding of our position. In 2016 and 2017, we faced two particularly difficult budget years due to the city’s taxing limitations. Thanks in large part to Pete’s leadership and creative ways to find solutions, we were able to craft budgets which protected essential services for children and minimized staff layoffs. Pete remains a strong advocate of increasing the equity of our share of Chapter 70 funding from the state, providing more dollars locally for critical services.
Over the next four years, the city of Pittsfield will see the beginnings of major projects that will change the infrastructure of our city — the redevelopment of Wahconah Park; the design of a new police station; badly needed attention toward Pittsfield High School and Crosby, Conte and Morningside schools; and the redevelopment work on Site 9 of the William Stanley Business Park. It will be vital to have a mayor who possesses strong leadership skills, fiscal acumen and the ability to work with project stakeholders as we see these visions come to fruition. I strongly believe Pete is the best person to help see these dreams of a better Pittsfield to becoming reality.
Please join me Sept. 19 in supporting Pete Marchetti for mayor of Pittsfield.

It is also public record that he sat by and did nothing to curb the wild careening spending spree that Tyer took off on. He never said no. He never asked why. He simply let himself be led around like a puppy by the mayor totally abandoning his elected role of representing the taxpayers. I find all the pomp and circumstance and baby kissing he is doing now insulting and embarrassing.

THIS is public record! You know it and he knows it and most of the city knows it.

School administrators for starters. How many assistants does a school principle need in reality? How many assistants does the mayor have? Does the city really need all the vehicles it has that it needs to maintain and insure? How much money is spent on plants and botanical decor around the city. Seems way excessive to me. For starters.

Bottom line is that if you had a forensic audit there would be a laundry list of recommended cuts. Why is the current administration so terrified of a deep audit when every other business with a 200 million dollar budget does one periodically? It is a critical tool for diligent operation as any CEO knows.

There should be a question on the ballot so the people could decide if they want such an audit. Should not be up to administrators running the budget.

Name on thing that your buddy Peter has done for the taxpayers. He has spent 8 years helping Linda Tyer spend money and screw up the city. Just what has he done to warrant our votes? From what I have heard so far from debates he is just going to be an extension of what we all have been suffering for 8 years. What does he plan to change?

Marchetti killed Kalinowsky’s bike lane petition. He has all those years of experience but he didn’t use that experience to help a colleague. He didn’t use it to help the public. That question was never going on the ballot on his watch. Peter doesn’t care about public opinion and that’s what you can expect from him as mayor.

Absolutely! Which is why door number 3 has Karen Kalinoswsky who is more grass roots and in touch with the people as citizens and taxpayers. Krol and Marchetti represent special interest projects which is the driver behind the ball busting tax increases. A vote for either of them is asking for a continuation of zero oversight and a runaway spending train. Seriously!!!

Joe Biden is going to Florida today to see the hurricane damage. We can only hope he avoids making insensitive remarks like those he made in Maui.
Maui has over 2,000 children still missing from destroyed Lahaina.  All are assumed to be dead at this time. The media will not put the official death toll out especially of the missing children.  The homes of the rich and famous were not damaged in Maui.  Maui residents are fearful of greedy developers trying to turn Maui into a playground for the wealthy. Their fears are not unfounded as just days after the horrific fires, the developers were trying to buy them out even as they were still in shock. Many locals distrust all government now and some believe the fires were allowed to burn intentionally because just too many things went wrong from no warnings or water and the electricity not turned off.

What kind of a person goes out and breaks his or her wedding vows? This is something I contemplate when I vote because I think it’s relevant. What kind of a person gives themselves permission to cheat? What activates that justification system? Ego? Entitlement? Insecurity? What kind of person does not care if he or she hurts his or her spouse and/or children or another family? What makes them think the rules don’t apply to them? How do they justify their behavior? And if the rules don’t apply, what kind of elected official will they be? Just asking.

Wonder if Tyer will give her pal Bike Lane Morales a big raise or bonus now that he seems to have become a psychoanalyst of Pittsfield taxpayers brains. He is now claiming that thinning out major roads will affect our brains and make us all drive slower. Wow! In these neighborhoods where he had taken it upon himself to redesign the streets did it ever occur to this well paid brainiac that there are no sidewalks, residents of these streets need to walk in the smaller streets many with dogs and baby carriages? Some of these streets serve schools, and believe it or not Morales, some kids still have to walk to school.

Does he and the mayor really think we are all that stupid. The main reason for the speeding, constant traffic accidents, blowing stops signs and traffic signals is the complete lack of traffic enforcement in Pittsfield. Whomever is voted in for Mayor needs to put a stop to the Police Department spending their days and nights doing well being checks for the Brien Center so that the police officers can do the job that they applied for, and we are paying taxes for. Let the Brien Center hire someone to check on these people. There is no reason that the speed limits on streets such as Merrill Road, Dalton Avenue, Williams Street and West Street should be over 65 mph. Acting Chief Dawley needs to address this lack of enforcement, and if he can’t seem to make this fix, then the State Police should be called in to perform the service. Enough is enough!

Agree, and these police officers do not even direct traffic they are either shooting the breeze with workers or staring at their cell phones, there is absolutely no supervision watching over these detail workers. I also feel that our officers should not be having to perform crossing guard duties during their shifts. Either send a teacher or paraprofessional out to help cross the kids, or better yet send one of the highly over paid employees from the Mercer School office. The school department certainly has enough budgeted monies and an over inflated work force.

I like all of the comments after this article including this one:

“This is the future they want for us. They want us living week to week, literally, not even having an apartment leased, and certainly not owning a house or a car. They don’t even want us to have a job. They want us working ‘gigs’ with no certainty of employment, renting a place to live week to week, no car so we are dependent on transportation systems they control thus controlling where we can live and work- and at what pay, and if we are allowed to stay in one place it will be an act of ‘benevolence’ by some politician referred to as a ‘public servant’ who will have the same power to have you tossed out of your home as they will have to allow you to stay.
Healey has as much power over these working Americans as any Communist in China or Cuba. That’s not how America is supposed to work.”

This person really gets it.

Voters in New Ashford are soon going to be voting as to whether they want their town to spend $55,000 for a new fire truck. A necessity no less. What a concept that their government would be asking the taxpayers if they felt comfortable making such a large expenditure.

In Pittsfield, if the mayor wakes up some morning and has the urge to spend 10 million dollars of taxpayer money on a feel good project benefitting mostly special interest folk, she just does it. Maybe she runs it by the bought and paid for puppet council, maybe not. Maybe Pittsfield could get something in its charter similar to this. Or maybe, put it explicitly in the oath of office for city councilors to provide legitimate oversight of such expenditures?

Oversight??? .WTF is that asks councilor Marchetti???? Oh my, says Persip. Why ever would we need to question the mayor??? Councilor White says, I think we can trust the mayor and she really does not need us cluttering up her thought process. Leave the mayor alone fer Gods sake.
