(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION SEPT. 18-20, 2026) — And so THE PLANET tries once again to set the agenda with a serious, little-discussed issue, hoping against hope that it may stimulate and daresay even advance public discussion and therefore awareness. That’s asking much from any live, responsive comment line for any blog. Nonetheless, we have enough sprinkling of intelligent, even sophisticated readers to entertain a certain cow-jumps-over-the-moon-type hope.

THE PLANET speaks of money. Lucre remains ever-so popular as both the source of pleasure and distress in life, and it is coin of the realm in any deliberation wishing to gather interest. Yes. Pun intended. Let’s get at it.

Do you want to know the quickest way to go broke? Easy. Follow the way of Bitchfield under its brainless politics by taxing to death what remains of its shrinking number of honorable, income generating middle class citizens while do all in your power to encourage the influx of the “gimme groups” that expect that Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski owe them a living. Of course, in the Land of Lumpy, Voltron, Dumpster, and a feckless school committee, officials only know how to take their lead from the incompetent matriarchy of the state led by its gub-ner, Maura Healey.

An “openly gay” mayor following on a leash his “openly lesbian” governess. Isn’t diversity grand, equity lovely, and inclusion a delight?

Between 2021 and 2023, IRA data show that almost 13,000 so-called “high earners” (making $1 million or more per year) beat the bushes out of Taxachusetts. They fled to common sense, elsewhere. The loss, in countless billions, shrank the private dollars that drive employment and enterprise. Relative to state population, this puts the Bay State at #1 of the 50 states in driving out private capital.

Not coincidentally but synchronistically, in 2021 the Commonwealth, in its infinite bow to the loon left, added a new 4% surtax on earners who made north of $1 million annually. Healey and her banshees not only kept that foolish measure in place but squashed a proposal that would have cut the income tax for all earners, from 5% to 4%.

Bog forbid.

Since 2023, for which data is not available but by all reasonable indicators, THE PLANET feels safe in declaring that the hemorrhaging of private capital has only increased. More than half of those who left in the three years on record, according to the Mass Opportunity Alliance, went to Florida. One quarter went to New Hampshire.

Not content at this damage to We The People, the Healey Administration is looking into a nebulous “wealth tax.” Presumably, such a levy would be for those who don’t make a million+ a year but who pull down what the socialists would define as “wealthy.”

Ouch. They’re coming for you.

Looks like we’re in for another Massachusetts Miracle.
