That’s asking much from any live, responsive comment line for any blog. Nonetheless, we have enough sprinkling of intelligent, even sophisticated readers to entertain a certain cow-jumps-over-the-moon-type hope.
THE PLANET speaks of money. Lucre remains ever-so popular as both the source of pleasure and distress in life, and it is coin of the realm in any deliberation wishing to gather interest. Yes. Pun intended. Let’s get at it.
Do you want to know the quickest way to go broke? Easy. Follow the way of Bitchfield under its brainless politics by taxing to death what remains of its shrinking number of honorable, income generating middle class citizens while do all in your power to encourage the influx of the “gimme groups” that expect that Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski owe them a living. Of course, in the Land of Lumpy, Voltron, Dumpster, and a feckless school committee, officials only know how to take their lead from the incompetent matriarchy of the state led by its gub-ner, Maura Healey.
An “openly gay” mayor following on a leash his “openly lesbian” governess. Isn’t diversity grand, equity lovely, and inclusion a delight?

Between 2021 and 2023, IRA data show that almost 13,000 so-called “high earners” (making $1 million or more per year) beat the bushes out of Taxachusetts. They fled to common sense, elsewhere. The loss, in countless billions, shrank the private dollars that drive employment and enterprise. Relative to state population, this puts the Bay State at #1 of the 50 states in driving out private capital.
Not coincidentally but synchronistically, in 2021 the Commonwealth, in its infinite bow to the loon left, added a new 4% surtax on earners who made north of $1 million annually. Healey and her banshees not only kept that foolish measure in place but squashed a proposal that would have cut the income tax for all earners, from 5% to 4%.
Bog forbid.
Since 2023, for which data is not available but by all reasonable indicators, THE PLANET feels safe in declaring that the hemorrhaging of private capital has only increased. More than half of those who left in the three years on record, according to the Mass Opportunity Alliance, went to Florida. One quarter went to New Hampshire.
Not content at this damage to We The People, the Healey Administration is looking into a nebulous “wealth tax.” Presumably, such a levy would be for those who don’t make a million+ a year but who pull down what the socialists would define as “wealthy.”
Ouch. They’re coming for you.

Pittsfield (Massachusetts) over-taxes its businesses, spends tens of millions of dollars per fiscal year MORE than its peer small cities such as Fitchburg and Westfield, which leads to residential tax and fee payers with excessive local tax bills to an institutionally corrupt City Hall that pays many of its public employees 6-figures public pay plus perks for life.
Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski know all too well that: “Earl and the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics pounds, pummels, pulverizes, punishes people’s purses”.
In Boston’s one-party state government, the Governor, Maura Healey, and state lawmakers never seem to have enough taxpayer dollars. For close to the past 20 years, state aid to local government has NOT increased with inflation. Similar to Pittsfield, many state employees earn 6-figures public pay plus perks for life.
Some of the registered lobbyists in the Boston Statehouse report 7-figures earnings per year, while many others are taking in 6-figures. Boston’s BIG businesses receive lucrative tax breaks. If one is a political insider in Massachusetts, then one is set for life.
My belief is that the political insiders are only in it for themselves. They don’t even care anymore about the common people who are struggling to survive in the tough economy. I believe that it gives the political insiders more power when the rest of us suffer.
We live in an era of extreme economic inequality. The wealthy favor fiscally conservative states such as Florida and New Hampshire that allow them to keep more of their money for themselves. The conservatives say the progressives want socialism. I see it as a lose-lose situation.
What happened to middle-class families? What happened to small business?
The real answer is that in the mid-2020’s, one either WINS or LOSES. The problem is that the same group of political insiders and wealthy people always win, while the rest of us always lose. We used to be the land of opportunity, but now we are the land of predetermined outcomes.
While Pittsfield is not in immediate fiscal insolvency, the postindustrial small city is grappling with a severe structural deficit: A systemic imbalance where fixed costs grow at a much faster rate than local revenues and state aid. The current pace of city spending cannot be sustained without a fundamental restructuring of the city’s economic base or aggressive cuts to services. There have been NO efforts to significantly cut city spending in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, despite the outcries for changes from local taxpayers.
For decades, Pittsfield has had to deal with economic flight due to the city’s distressed economy with little to no living wage jobs. Many thousands of people have moved away. Countless living wage jobs have been lost with little to no hope of business growth in the future. Without economic growth in the business sector, Pittsfield has to always raise local taxes and fees on residential taxpayers whereby many of them live on fixed-incomes.
Pittsfield is a small postindustrial city in decline. Its commercial tax base, lack of new industries, and demographic declines means that Pittsfield City Hall needs a miracle to stay fiscally solvent over the long-term.
Pittsfield’s long-term economic and demographic decline are primarily due to the collapse of its dominant manufacturing base (GE), subsequent environmental contamination (PCBs), and slow adaptation to a modern service economy. Pittsfield’s distressed economy is still stuck in the past that does not exist anymore in 2026.
After the post-WW2 GE era, Pittsfield lost over a quarter of its population over subsequent decades as residents moved away to find work. Downtown Pittsfield’s North Street has between 15 to 25 empty storefronts, is called “Social Services Alley”, and is known a place that people avoid.
When people, taxpayers, small businesses, community advocacy groups, and others work for progress in Pittsfield, they run into the state and local politicians who lack institutional transparency to the public and the press alike. I take it further by stating that the state and local politicians in Pittsfield and Massachusetts alike use retribution towards anyone who questions or challenges their political power.
The bureaucracy in Pittsfield and Massachusetts alike is the biggest problem to restructuring distressed small cities. The state and local politicians are not changing the system of government. They are not doing anything of value for the common people who they are supposed to be serving in the government. I take it further by stating that they are actually doing DISSERVICES to the common people.
Blogger Dan Valenti posted on his blog that due to Governor Maura Healey’s policies, Massachusetts is losing its wealthy residents and big businesses to other states such as Florida and New Hampshire. I posted that the political insiders and their politically-connected businesses that donate money to their campaign coffers are all set for life in Massachusetts. I stated that it is the worst of both worlds of economic flight out of Massachusetts and the conservatives claiming that the Democrats want Socialism. Like the Republicans, the Democrats really want MONEY and POWER for life.
Trying to change Pittsfield and Massachusetts alike is comparative to a person pushing a rock up a big hill only for it to always roll back down over and over again. Anything could happen due to the X-factor of random chance, but one has to understand that the political insiders and their supporters only want to be set for life with 6-figure or higher salaries to pensions for life. None of the above paragraphs matter to them so long as they can always cash in for life.

Gasoline prices have been trickling up and are about to reach the spiking stage. Diesel fuel outpacing truckers ability to pay for it and they are about to go on a major strike shutting down the country. Everything you buy gets brought in by truck and the higher costs are passed on in EVERYTHING you buy. If you think food is expensive now wait a few weeks.
American based oil companies begged to be allowed to drill on Federal lands and environmentally delicate areas. And now they brag about America being “energy independent”. But as diesel fuel prices spike out of the reach of American truckers these same oil companies are shipping most of their American drilled diesel fuel overseas where they can get premium prices. And they are fighting congress about keeping it in America during the crisis because they only care about their bottom line. There is talk of gasoline shortages, long lines at the gas pump and rationing. And what about heating oil with winter not so far away?
Some airlines are already cancelling flights in December due to anticipated shortages of jet fuel and say it will be continuing into the next spring with prices in the meantime going up significantly.
Andy city, town, state or federal official that is not making drastic budget cuts TODAY is making the situation much worse. We are in the exponential phase of this crisis.
We got plenty of oil, unfortunately the communist environmentalists have prevented any refineries from being built to handle the light crude we put out. It has to get sent out to foreign countries to be refined.

Kushner’s Affinity Partners now has approximately $4.6 billion under management, with almost all of the funds coming from Saudi, UAE and Qatari partners. Last year I reported on all of the known deals where Affinity Partners had invested over $1 billion, including an obscure deal with former WeWork founder Adam Neumann. While Kushner was building his investment business, he also launched the nonprofit Abraham Accords Peace Institute, where Cassidy Luna, the Chief of Staff for Affinity Partners is listed as the Treasurer and Director on the most recent tax filing.

How much credit card debt do Americans have? Americans’ total credit card balance is $1.263 trillion as of the second quarter of 2026, according to the latest consumer debt data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York

. That’s up from $1.242 trillion in Q1 2026, but still lower than Q4 2025’s $1.277 trillion, which marked the highest balance since the New York Fed began tracking the data in 1999.
It’s common for credit card debt to rise in the second quarter of the year. The last time card debt decreased in Q2 was in 2020, early in the pandemic. (Before that, it hadn’t happened since 2012.)
With this quarter’s increase, credit card balances have risen by $493 billion since Q1 2021, when credit card debt bottomed out at $770 billion during the pandemic. That’s a 64% increase. Americans’ credit card debt is $336 billion higher than the pre-pandemic record set in Q4 2019, when balances stood at $927 billion. (That’s a 36% increase.) Credit card balances have historically grown in the second, third and fourth quarters of the year, though future borrowing trends will depend on factors including interest rates, inflation and broader economic conditions.
Current balances are more than double the $478 billion recorded in Q1 1999, more than 25 years ago.

So these are the PPS taxpayer paid adults that are teaching our children. Almost as bad as the “scohol” road painting. Not one teacher or administrator noticed that misspelling? But then again as a resident of that neighborhood it has amazed me how many Allendale teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators can’t read the One Way sign on the school driveway. Guess this sign does not pertain to them. This neighborhood also contends with parents driving 65 in a 30mph zone because their kiddies need to get to school. Every morning and afternoon, California Avenue and Connecticult Avenue turns into the Lebanon Valley racetrack of Pittsfield. May I remind you Morales with Lumpy’s backing narrowed California Avenue, making it very dangerous. Never see a cruiser, but the City could certainly make money every morning on speeding tickets. Just a matter of time someone get’s hurt. Feel sorry for my neighbors that live directly by Allendale School. God help them if they ever need emergency help or have a fire, there is no way a fire truck or ambulance could make it down the road.
When I see all the pickup lines each day I can’t help to think do any of these parents work? Some of them sit parked in their vehicles for two hours before the release time, playing on their phones. They don’t have anything better to do? Also, why can’t these kids ride the bus. Taxpayers are paying for these buses and drivers, is there a reason kids won’t use the bus? Buses go by my home with only 4 or 5 kids. Why? Have the highly paid City workers ever look into why?
This Administration of course will not address these issues as usual.
Some years ago the city decided that every kid should have his or her own laptop and that the taxpayers were going to pay for them. Just how many were lost, stolen and misused we will never know for sure but the supplemental budget for replacement was substantial.
Perhaps now the taxpayers should fund E-bikes for each child and let them find their own way to school and these parents could stay home and play video games from the luxury of their living rooms. But, in Pittsfield, we may find out that the city is actually subsidizing the gas the parents are using to pick up their kids. And no one would be surprised.
But excellent question as to how or why all these parents are free to hang out in front of the school for so long. And I wonder how many of them take the kid home and make sure they do their homework. Or not.
I love watching the videos of dumocRAT communists (socialists) “leaders” giving the middle finger to business leaders and “the wealthy,” and then crying a few months later, as they watch those same people pack up and move away.
NY Gov Kathy Kuckold pled with people to go to FL and bring back “people who want to write a check for our generous social programs.”

Seattle’s version of Bitchfield’s Mayor Lumpy, Katie Wilson, giggled like a little school girl and stated, “bye,” and burst into laughter when asked what her response was to business leaders threatening to leave Seattle, not wanting to pay a tax on top of another tax, to “fund Seattle’s progressive social programs.”
A few months later and a few thousand less jobs later, Katie Wilson is now crying about people not wanting to fund their fraud….errr, I mean social programs.

BREAKING: The US is considering a ban on US diesel exports, with Senate Majority Leader John Thune telling reporters that “if we have the supply in this country and we’re exporting it right now that might be one way of getting at it.”
The US is the world’s largest diesel exporter, at around 1.7 million barrels per day, mostly to Latin America and Europe, and Russia, the second largest, has already halted exports. A US ban would take the last large diesel exporter off a market where diesel in Germany has already reached €2.80 a liter this morning.

Maybe we should make a law that restricts oil exports when the strategic reserve reaches a trigger point.
The media makes a big deal out of they should be allowed all access because they police whoever is in power. We know that’s not true because CNN, Politico, the New York Times and other far left news media only police one side. We have heard very little about all the good things that President Trump has done while the media mainly focuses on the Iran war and food prices. The food prices were skyrocketing during the Biden years, but the media hushed that up. Nobody was even allowed to whisper it. Unlike what I hear from snippets of conversations around Pittsfield, it’s not the wealthy who put President Trump back in office, it’s the working class who were sick of being told that their problems didn’t exist. Just enjoy the open borders and the high food prices and be quiet was the message from the Biden administration.
