PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY JUNE 1, 2020) — It wasn’t enough that the coronavirus put the World’s No. 1 economy into the shredder. Now we have what’s left — Left — being further pulverized by the “protests” following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis, MN police. If these are protests, THE PLANET will lead the NFL in rushing next year.

Cities whose populaces have no more connection to Minneapolis than The Sphinx has to a sphincter nonetheless have seen their “citizens” use Floyd’s death as the excuse to exercise the worst impulses that reside in the human heart. The residue after the “protesters” have finished with the burning, looting, and vandalism isn’t so much the char of burned-out buildings. It’s more  the residue of scum, the human tar that upchucks from souls who chose to drink their own poison and see themselves as eternal “victims.”

The good news, though, is that the “protesters,” whose deprivations as children left them with a blank check for mindless violence and destruction, have knocked COVID-19 off the front pages and out of the headlines. Because it’s not the mainstream media’s topic du jour, we can now declare the virus over. Hallelujah, brothers and sisters! The forest pine fell in an empty forest. No heard it, so it didn’t fall.

Imagine that: A pandemic cured by reverse-racist rioting! What a country! How else could 400 lost souls pointlessly gather in Park Square Saturday sitting and standing shoulder to shoulder, neck to neck, with guaranteed immunity? Or as PLANET correspondent KERMIT said, they had they “We Are The World Moment.”

From The Boring Broadsheet:

Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington, who came with her young son, was feeling a similar sentiment. “It’s actually comforting to be here together on this afternoon,” she said. In an interview as she walked toward the park, Mayor Linda Tyer said she wanted to be with the community. “I’m just still in utter heartbreak over what happened to George Floyd. It’s important, in my heart, to stand here with the people in our city and in our county and express solidarity in our demand for justice. Look at what they’ve been able to pull off in a short time,” she said of event organizers. As the park filled, the noise level rose. “It’s good to see all the horns beeping,” said Barry Clairmont, Tyer’s husband. “People get it.”

No, Barry. People DON’T “get it.” It would only be “good” if folks followed your wife’s order on social distancing and stayed away from the “look-at-me, 15-minutes-of-fame” demonstrations. You guys feeling all smug and self-righteous do this while your city falls apart … what a picture. After it’s over, the limousine liberals retreat to the gated communities, the sincere-but-gullible go back to their hovels, and the dish runs away with the spoon.

In Syracuse, NY, mayor Ben Walsh issued a curfew from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. to keep the city safe. County executive followed, giving orders for all citizens in Onondaga County to be off the streets during those same hours. That’s leadership. In Pittsfield, the mayor and other officials gave the crowds their Binkies.

In Atlanta, mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said “This is not a protest. This is chaos.” In Pittsfield, our D.A. and mayor sang an off-key “Kumbaya” while on the West Side and Morningside, shots rang out, junkies shot up, drug lords profited, gimme-girls spent their welfare checks, bums littered North Street, and The Kapanskis worried about paying their taxes while both of them were out of work from the virus.

———- ooo ———-

The reaction and overreaction to Floyd’s death illustrates once again that as a species, humanity has progressed in reverse, kind of like an Army getting its butt kicked and announcing retreat as an “advance to the rear.” Our euphemisms have always sugar-coated the realities we can’t bear to face, as Eric Blair pointed out in “Politics and the English Language.” The market didn’t tank. It experienced a “sustained equity retreat.” Street gangs and thug-scum aren’t destroying decency. They’re “protesting.”

THE PLANET says “Bull.”

We made the point on The Weekend Edition, and it bears repeating. Human beings can’t handle freedom, but we express outrage when governments turn authoritarian. Politically, governmentally, and most of all historically, authoritarian has been the ONLY organizational set-up that has worked. Granted, it does not work forever, but it at least provides the framework to limit the invariable human tendency to turn freedom into license. Authority provides the only workable foundation for civilization and society.

This happens, of course, only in groups, and what is society — our communities, villages, towns, cities — but gatherings of folks who have profited from the species-old wisdom that survival, continuance with some form of prosperity and security, can only be achieved via The Social Contract? Alone, we can’t build communities. Together we can. That’s also how we destroy them.

That pact, however, has proven of little interest to the selfish “protesters, who have exchanged their COVID face masks for pink pussy hats.

Let the world go insane. THE PLANET shall remain “That Individual,” which are the two words we want on our tombstone.

It also worked out good for Antifa that many people are wearing masks. I agree with Bill Bennett that we can’t just throw up our hands and say, “Let’s let the looting and burning mobs take over the streets”. We can’t say “Oh well you win some and you lose some”. We need to take back the streets of our country from the violence or it will get much worse.

We have a First Amendment right to peacefully assemble. The demonstrations at Park Square were just that.

That right is only taken away when the act of doing so tramples on the given rights of others. Since no one was there by force, it is assumed that the peaceful assembly is legal and therefore permitted under the US Constitution.

We still have rights people! Let’s not forget that.

All the Democrats mocked the hairdressers who just wanted to go to work. What a world.

An internal memo from the mayor of Pittsfield, Massachusetts obtained by WAMC says state police have been deployed to the city to head off what they say is the threat of violent Antifa protestors.
In a June 1st email to city councilors, Mayor Linda Tyer says “a large contingent” of state police are situated at the city’s Second Street Emergency Operations Center.
She says the move is part of a broader effort by state police to increase their presence throughout the commonwealth’s rural communities.
While no specifics are mentioned in the email, Tyer says the state police strategy is supposedly in response to the threat of “Antifa interference” spreading outside of metropolitan areas as protests continue following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
According to the email, state law enforcement think the thinly defined leftist group – one President Trump blames as the cause of violence at protests – intends to spread into rural America in the next week.
“I can’t speak to Antifa as a group but I do know that there is information about a number of groups who have been known to disrupt peaceful protests,” said Tyer.

Hrmmm. Not heard in Albany or elsewhere in NYS. Or other parts of MA. Sounds like CYA.

Sounds like Tyer is afraid to speak out against Antifa. She’s afraid of offending her moonbat supporters.

She is embarrassed for organizing the protest so she wants to find a reason to justify it to halt the ridicule. NYS sheriff didn’t get the same message that MA staties gave out.

Exactly what are they going to loot in Pittsfield?
They gonna steal the mayors Crayolas? They gonna steal some of her pegging toys for Barry?
I bet ANTIFA could walk down the middle of north street loot and steal and the place would look better.

Thank you. It’s a bad joke and another example of them trying to ingratiate themselves into the crisis.
