(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, MONDAY OCT. 4, 2021) — Why aren’t there more Democrats like former West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, now a senator from the Mountain State?

Manchin says he won’t support pairing his party’s irresponsible $3.5 trillion plan for new “gimme group” spending with a bipartisan $1.2 trillion spending authorization for America’s infrastructure. He advocates separating the two, passing the infrastructure bill and then the social services deal, which he says must be limited to $1.5 trillion. Without Manchin’s support, Dems lose their 50-50 edge over the Republicans, with the Vice President holding the deciding vote.

The radical left in the House, however, demands the “gimme” spending and infrastructure to be joined at the hip. It’s a form of blackmail to see that their ruinous spending gets passed — under duress, not that it bothers them. General Accounting Office analysts say the $3.5T will actually cost $5.5T, once “administrative and other associated costs” are factored in.

Ah, a trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon we’ll be talking real money (nod to Everett Dirksen).

Manchin didn’t mince words in pointing out the hypocrisy: [“I’ve”] never been a liberal in any way, shape, or form.” He said that if Americans want more reckless spending, the kind advocated by the banshees known as The Squad, the should elect more extremist libs, who love Big Government not because it works (it doesn’t) but because it buys them votes (cheap at any price).

The Senate has already passed the infrastructure spending, a rare example of bipartisan cooperation, but the House has been the hang up. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, VP Kamala Harris (the Senate tiebreaker), and the shrills on The Squad continue to steer the party to the left extreme, where the marching orders are to pass the multitrillion dollar package for the “Gimme Groups” … or else. They don’t care about the best interests of Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski. They only want to play for the cheap seats. Sen. Mitch Mcconnell nailed it when he said Democrat leaders were “letting the radical left run Capitol Hill.”

Meanwhile Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders ate more of his own, blasting Manchin and Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Feel the Bern knifed the two moderate Democrats for having the gall to say the the liberal spending plan was reckless, especially considering the debt-limit crisis. America’s only in debt for $28.5 trillion.

While this meller-drama wheezes through the halls of capital hill, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen questioned the usefulness of a debt ceiling. She’s got a point. Why bother with a spending limit when Congress considers that limit to be abstract and theoretical. In reality, the “debt limit” simply provides Capitol Hill cover, making it look like these slime balls actually think of We The People’s money as something they must safeguard.

Why not adopt Yellen’s suggestion and get rid of the debt ceiling altogether? This would eliminate the all-too-frequent and fake gnashing of teeth on Capitol Hill, a charade exercised for political purposes. Invariably, Congress reaches an 11th hour “solution” that they think makes them look like heroes.

Another consideration in wiping out the debt-ceiling limit can be found in the very crisis it was designed to eliminate, that is, holding the reins on US debt obligations.  In addition to regulating the country’s money supply, Treasury’s business is paying the country’s bills. Those bills originate in Congress. In other words, every bill received by Treasury has already been approved in Congress. The debt limit doesn’t limit debt or control spending. It limits the country’s ability to pay what it owes.

The third rail in all this, one that you NEVER hear government officials talk about, is to REDUCE SPENDING. The only ones who have to apply that remedy to debt avoidance and bill paying are those eternal stalwarts, of who government officials, elected and otherwise, see as suckers: Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski.

You see this dynamic played out on a smaller scale every year in Tyerville. Each year, Pittsfield’s tax base shrinks but the idiots in the corner office, the council, and the school committee approve sizable increases in spending.

They. Don’t. Care. About. You.

Theyonlycareaboutthemselves.

It’s not cryptocurrency.

It’s cryptic-currency, also known as “funny money.”

And cheer up, because you get to pay for them to play.
