PLANET VALENTI NEWS AND COMMENTARY

ADD 1 FRIDAY 6/19: At 9 a.m., THE PLANET received this from the Pittsfield Police Department:

On Thursday June 18th 2026 at approximately 8:09pm, multiple Pittsfield Police Department (PPD) officers responded to an area at the intersection of Pleasure Avenue and Tyler Street for a reported shooting. Dispatch was alerted by both a multiple-round ShotSpotter activation as well as 911 callers. Responding officers located two men who had sustained gunshot wounds and both were transported to Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) by Emergency Medical Services personnel.

One victim, a 38-year-old Pittsfield resident, was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and was later released. The second shooting victim, a 29-year-old Pittsfield man, died from his injuries at BMC despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff. This incident is currently under investigation by members of the Pittsfield Police Department in conjunction with personnel from the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office and other assisting agencies. At this time investigators believe that the shooting was a targeted act. Anyone who wishes to report information is asked to contact the Pittsfield Police Department at 413-448-9700. Information can also be provided anonymously by texting PITTIP and your message to TIP411 (847411.) No further information will be provided at this time.

———- ooo ———-

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION JUNE 19-21, 2026) — You don’t need THE PLANET to know that Bitchfield public schools are mired in a deep muddy that makes the LeBrea tarpits look like hippety-hop to the barber shop. Drugs, sexual predation, classroom chaos, incompetent administration, and more have brought public education to a new low, scraped clean through the bottom in corruption’s endless Backrooms.

This has been a Mayor Lumpy-Queen Latifah-Sochol Cummittee coproduction, with one billion bucks — BILLION — spent in a decade on this flop. It makes all-time movie busts Heaven’s Gate and Waterworld look like Jaws and Star Wars. Think of it: a billion dollars to run the schools into the ground.

Some highlights:

  • Former administrators such as the one who allegedly showed her poontang to students and as “punishment” got six-figure non-disclosure agreement.
  • Led by a shaky Lumpy, the Bitchfield Sochol Cummittee has kept the lid on the “independent” report on the PHS scandals. Even the redacted one. Nothing to see there, folks.
  • Accused drug pedlar Da Dancin’ Dean. We hear he’s singing like a canary to get a plea.
  • Supt. Queen Latifah and Lumpy are so terrified of the angry villagers that they were mighty scarce during the recent plethora of graduations. Presence by noted absence seems like admission of guilt.

Amidst all this, one wonders what the sheepskins mean that those fresh-faced young people ended up with after four years of Romper Room. Ask colleges and business owners in The Dreaded Private Sector about the worth of local high school diplomas. They’ll give you an earful, like the general manager at one of the city’s large supermarkets, who told THE PLANET, “They can’t do simple math, they can’t follow simple instructions, and they’re unreliable. We just can’t get the help.”

Speaking of young people, THE PLANET’s recent assignment at 29 Palms Marine Corps Combat Training Center showed us a crop we would be proud to employ. We can’t get into the details of our work for the Marines, but we were around combat units that knew how to solve complex problems, could think both strategically and tactically, could follow and issue orders, and showed absolute reliability. All we can say is “Hoo-rah!”

THE PLANET at work, 29 Palms Marine Combat Training Base.

———- 000 ———-

Now that voters canned MCAS in 2024, the masterminds at the K-12 Statewide Graduation Council have come up with final recommendations about getting quality back into public schools. Remember, though, that these same kind of geniuses gave us Ed Reform and MCAS in 1993.

How’d that work out?

The Healey Administration talked up the report as if Charlton Heston himself had come down from Mt. Sinai with stone tablets. Of course, the local daily known as the Boring Broadsheet wrote about it with gushing praise. Happy days are here again, according the to the BB.

THE PLANET, however, won’t give such safe quarter to what has been for 33 years the enemy of local control and quality education.

The state recommends four requirements for graduation:

  1. Completion of the statewide MassCore curriculum.
  2. End-of-course testing assessments designed, administered, and graded not locally but by the state. This further erodes any whiff of local control over schools.
  3. Plans for the future through the MyCAP (My Career and Academic Plan) online portal.
  4. What’s called a “capstone” project or a portfolio.

“We’ve spent the last 18 months listening to students, families, educators, and employers about what young people need to succeed,” Gov. Healey said. “These recommendation raise the bar while expanding opportunity, helping ensure every student has access to the coursework, real-world experiences, and skills they need to build a successful future.”

Right.

The state said as much back in 1993 then did little more than continue to throw money at a problem that simply wouldn’t go away.

———- ooo ———-

Naturally, the Mass. Teachers Association called the recommendations “outdated” and a “top-down approach to policymaking.” The MTA claims the new plan “does not respect the professionalism of educators.”

Hearing that, THE PLANET might reconsider our views. We’ve learned after a generation of being FORCED to join the union in order to do our professorial work that anything the MTA is against, we are for.

Here’s the kicker. Instead of immediate implementation to a program that’s been in the works for a year and a half, the new standards won’t go into effect until the 2031-32 school year.

Why put off today what you can’t do for five years?

Have a great weekend, everybody.

Public Education is a government system of social stratification based mostly on economic class and social status that produces young adults who face a life in the underclass, working-class, or if they are able and willing to succeed in a career, the middle-class family structure.

The problem with public education is it is a bureaucracy that is really about social control. Children and young adults alike have to endure decades of their lives dealing with negative reinforcements that produces bullies, indoctrinated rote so-called thinking, and and adult educators that support corrupt public unions for their own financial benefit that cost taxpayers billions of dollars per academic year.

The last thing public education wants to do is have the masses of Have-NOTS understand that the bureaucracy is using them to serve the inequitable interests of the financial, corporate and ruling elites that produce an Oligarchy whereby all but a gain in net income of an average of one-dime per working hour per year every year since the early-1970’s have gone to the super wealthy – Trickle down economics is a LIE.

To be clear, children go to public schools and they experience social conflicts. Why? The answer is that social conflicts are a “divide and conquer” tactic to keep the masses of Have-NOTS from questioning the authoritarian-structured bureaucratic system.

I am in my early-50’s in mid-2026. I have given years of thought in my life whereby I am always reacting to the bureaucratic system that socially stratifies society. I see myself as a survivor, while others have written that I see myself as a victim. Others have written that I am “Marxist Melle”.

All I want is for everyone to have a chance in life. I believe in the “Big 3” needs that support middle-class families and strong communities, which are Housing, Healthcare, and EDUCATION. If “Jon Melle” writing about these subjects makes me look like I am acting like a victim or a Marxist, then so be it. That is how I see the FAILED system of government in the 21st Century.

JM, you write this, “I believe in the “Big 3” needs that support middle-class families and strong communities, which are Housing, Healthcare, and EDUCATION,” and then question why people (including myself) have called you “Marxist Melle.”

What you described is Communism, or Marxism.

The US government should not provide deadbeats, lay-abouts, and illegal aliens, free healthcare and housing. This is where an education and gainful employment come into play.

The US Government does mandate by law, that all US Citizens are entitled to a free education. It’s your choice what you want to do with that education.

Learn the 3 R’s and better your chances to succeed in life. Or, f*ck around in class and worrying about posting TikTok videos of your new dance moves, instead of learning grammar, and be destined to a life of government assistance?

With that high school education, a person then has many choices: college, the US Military, work, or live at home with mommy and daddy and do nothing and bitch about the world.

If you disagree that your describing Communism, I’d love to hear your counter argument that it’s not.

**Keep in mind, I also want to know where you would come up with the finances for these free houses and health care programs for all. Houses, and building them, certainly isn’t cheap.

My counter-argument is that there is NO system of government that actually works in practice.

Capitalism has many failures. The large underclass population is a systemic injustice; there should NOT be an underclass population in the first place. The working-class population is always falling behind with excessive negative income (debts). The middle-class population has been shrinking in numbers since the early-1970’s. The upper middle-class population is always at risk of losing their class and status. The wealthy are a small number of the entire population. The super-wealthy receive almost all of the gains in net income for over the past one-half century.

Socialism is also flawed because it has acute financial limits and high taxes. Socialism often leads to a few winners, while most of the population is dependent on the government. Socialism is vulnerable to falling to authoritarianism, Communism, and a weak overall economy.

Communism is flawed because it relies on Utopian visions that never materialize in the real world of over 300,000 years of human nature and behavior that never changes with the times. Communism has seen the most mass deaths of hundreds of millions of innocent people in modern history. Communism equals VIOLENCE. Any person who lived under a Communist system HATES Communism.

Authoritarianism, including public education, is flawed because it is a system of social control of the population that has no FREEDOM because they have to follow the rules of the bureaucracy that uses the “Divide and Conquer” tactics to hold all of the MONEY and POWER. Donald Trump is heavily criticized for modeling his presidential administration based on Authoritarianism.

Fascism and Totalitarianism is flawed because it is a system of tyranny that strips away our legal rights in favor of one man’s will to rule by fear, violence, and persecution.

To illustrate, when “Jon Melle” writes about the past over 30 years of being persecuted by “LUCIFORO”, I am seen as a mentally ill man who is told to NOT be a VICTIM and the like. But I see myself as a persecuted person at the hands of my Enemy #1’s delusional EVIL quest to be Pittsfield/Boston’s millionaire who we are supposed to FEAR so that Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior hopes to be the all powerful Son of a BITCH-field.

I am happy that we live in a democracy whereby “Jon Melle” is able to write political email letters, post, and blog about it all.

“Communist China” is as of today, the most forward thinking, best educated, best healthcare, modern, and has the most updated infrastructure in the world. Do they spy on every citizen? Yes. Does America spy on every citizen? Yes. EVERY ONE.

The difference is that America is 40 TRILLION dollars in debt, has the worst educational system in the free world, the most crime, the most people in jail, the most homeless and bad getting worse healthcare.

And while foreign tourists are now avoiding America as a place to visit due to its hostile government, China is one of, if not the most desired place to go.

So Markus, I expect you to start off your reply saying that I am a communist sympathizer, but see if you can add a little substance to that shallow narrow minded regurgitation.

My reply is, be glad you live in a country that supports free speech, unlike your utopia China.

Wow, you are truly a sad individual. TDS has driven you to the point you are trying to post an argument, in which you favor China over America?

And then on top of it, using “tourism” as the deciding factor?

Donald Trump had driven you to hate America, and now you favor China. It seems to fit a pattern.

Let’s see, it’s been:

Ukraine
Venezuela
Iran
Cuba
*China is the current TDS flavor of the month.

They also fund their great success on slave labor run in death camps and by mass subjugation and exploitation of other nations throughout Asia, the MIddle East, and Africa. The CCP further exploited the opportunities provided by first Carter and then made permanent China policy by Clinton to extract all our manufacturing and raw materials to their shores.

I heartily suggest that they go the last step and extract you and your colleagues as well.

It’s a tax on people who believe that it’s sensible to give the state a dollar for 20 cents back. Like TFB said in encouraging the City to go into debt for the Taconic: “We pay millions of dollars to Boston; here’s our opportunity to get some pennies back.”

She was trying to say that the cost of the Taconic compares to pennies compared to what is generally accounted for, but I like her honesty. At least she gets it.

It is not poverty that is the trap. It is growing up dependent on government providing everything for you, even if by today’s standards, that keeps you in “poverty”

Got stopped at the light in front of phs recently. A girl with a backpack comes across from the side opposite the school and heads up the school steps to the building. And, hard to miss, is that she is wearing very short shorts with a bit of her bare butt cheeks catching a little sunshine.

Perhaps the superintendent might want to tighten up the dress code, unless there is pole dancing classes, as such landscapes might be distracting to one trying to do algebra calculations.

Or maybe they are trying to improve the absentee rate, which I understand is appalling even for Pittsfield.

After reading your post Gimme, I had to chime in.

That young lady you mentioned in your post is in step 3 of her future, as a pole-dancer or an OnlyFans nude model.

Step 4 is when she reaches “The Sheppard’s Pie” level. To achieve that level, you must be a degenerate, pedophile, or both, and enjoy sharing your pu$$y pictures with all-especially juvenile black males.

Bitchfield Pubic Scohol’s, Da Dancin’ Dean, Lavonte Wiggins, is a perfect example of this four-step plan, with a trip to the penitentiary almost all but assured.

Billions spent yet the students can’t do basic math or follow simple instructions, but ask them about their genders, pronouns, and the far left agenda and you will get an earful. This is what the schools have been pushing instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic. The Mass. I believe democRATS have purposely dumbed down ejubacation purposely, in an effort to keep their flock dumb and obedient.

How else would the democRATS be able to pull off January 6, couldn’t find the J6 pipe bomber, an illegal alien invasion of the country, giving US tax dollars to illegal aliens via: gift cards, cell phone, rent, medical coverage, living expenses; leaving billions of dollars of military grade weapons in an Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, just to touch the tip of the ice burg, and their only answer is “Orange Man bad.”

Oh, I can’t leave out Meanwhile’s tried and true, “the Epstein files.”

This goes back to my original post and the heart of Dan’s post.

When asked by multiple posters on The Planet why the Autopen Administration didn’t go after President Trump with this “Epstein evidence,” considering the democRATS tried to assassinate him and charge him with the Lindbergh kidnapping, he gives a nonsensical answer about Trump raising the cost of gas, living, and anything else to try and divert away from the original question.

Intelligent people use fact-based arguments.

Morons, aka-democRATS ignore facts and rely simply on emotion as the basis of their arguments: “fighting for democracy,” “It’s racist/Islamophobic/homophobic”, and the best, “No Kings.”

Great new entertainment in the City of Shitsfield. Last week it was take your family to the Boys & Girls Club on Melville Street, but, becareful not to get stabbed. Last night take your family to the new Arcade and then out for ice cream, you can witness a drive by shooting killing one and injurying another. The police department states these are “targeted attacks”. Has the police department ever heard of mis-fires or ricoshet bullets? What if a stray bullet hit a little child waiting to get their ice cream cone? Do they think the taxpayers are stupid? What a ignorant comment to put in a press release.

Worse of all the taxpayers never hear one word out of the Mayor or City Councilors about the out of control crime in the City, especially in broad daylight. Mary Jane and Joe Kapanski work for their hard-earned money, dutifully pay taxes in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, and then they read about a politically connected hack in Boston who may receive a large public pay raise of $36,000 that would add to his already 6-figure public pay plus perks for life.

The measure was recently passed by the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, and it needs to be voted on in the Massachusetts State Senate chamber, and then signed into state law by Governor Maura Healey.

https://www.wbur.org/news/2026/06/18/massachusetts-lawmakers-suffolk-register-deeds-salary-budget-proposal

It must be so nice to loved by the likes of career politicians such as State Representatives John Barrett III, Tricia Farley-Bouvier, and Leigh Davis, and so on.

If the career politicians would like to give me an extra $36,000 public pay raise per year, then by all means, vote for the “Jon Melle” public pay raise plus public perks for life fund.

Massachusetts politics is a one political party state that benefits the political hacks.

The Berkshire Eagle, June 20, 2026

To the editor: I am writing in response to the June 18 article “Pittsfield works to address stench wafting from the city’s wastewater treatment plant.”

We have a serious problem with our city water. In the last few years, our current commissioner of public works has allowed our water system to get out of control. I do not think he is qualified to solve the problem. All he has done is allowed our water taxes to rise with no apparent reason other than his inability to deal with the problem. The end result is senior citizens living on limited Social Security trying to budget with a water tax bill of almost $200 a quarter trying to solve a wastewater system problem with unjustly high water taxes. That is not our problem to solve. Ask the people who live on Holmes Road next to the treatment plant; they will tell you it stinks, literally.

I believe it is time for someone to wake up the mayor and alert him that we have a serious water problem with an unqualified person addressing it. I believe it’s time to get a qualified public works commissioner to do the job.

Thank you for your anticipated consideration.

Paul Pizzuto, Pittsfield

To late they got your money. Now contingencies will increase that. You had a water objector. You dismissed it. Ricardo couldn’t park a car.

Per population North Adams leads Berkshire County, Pittsfield a close second. Something to Shoot for. Side note to the Berkshire Eagle, Gay Pride doesn’t save lives. Just saying.

The best argument against the now defunct omnibus Gun Control Bill of 2023 (date uncertain) was from a gay man who says he warded off an attack of homophobic youths who preparing to ambush him in a parking structure by showing his sidearm.

He addressed a Congressional committee public hearing for the 2014 gun bill. He described being followed by a group of youths uttering slurs and preparing to ambush him in an indoor public parking lot. When cornered. he exposed his firearm causing them to move on.

To JP point, gay pride didn’t save him, but Sam Colt did.

The current incidents you would think at least would call for a press conference from the Mayor and Chief of Police. Or do we even do those any more ?

It doesn’t quite fit the democRATS “white supremacy is the nations greatest threat,” narrative is why. We all know this.

The leading cause of death for a young b/m 16-35, is gun violence by another black male.

But I’m sure OB and the DEI office will craft another PRIDE celebration instead.

Broken Windows theory is the ONLY thing that will cure this problem. Tossing money has been tried repeatedly and FAILED EVERY TIME.

Since there’s no release of names of those who committed the murders from a press conference, police or local media, Let me guess, were any of the people who committed the murders in Bitchfield named “twenty to life” ? It seems like the most common name parents of those involved here in Bitchfield are naming their
children.

Some cat is on Facebook all the time and instagram telling us people are dropping like flies. Where’s your buddy on this? The police chief has no energy looks to be cashing out and nobody likes. This could get interesting. Harrington is actually looking good in all of this. And she was bad.

The City of Lumpsville Administration only cares about the Pride Parade, they couldn’t be bothered by addressing the crime in the City.

Re: My reply post about LUCIFORO was edited out completely on the blog named PlanetValenti.com

Hello blogger Dan Valenti,

There are two negative reply posts to my post(s) that mentioned LUCIFORO that were edited out completely on the blog named PlanetValenti.com.

I see it as a double standard due to the fact that for many years now, you have made Andrea Harrington the scapegoat for Pittsfield’s high rate of violent crimes and related crimes.

The evidenced and research based statistics state that since at least the year 1980, violent crime in Pittsfield (Mass.) has more than doubled the statewide average. BUT, Andrea Harrington’s one 4-year term only spanned the years 2019 – 2022. What about the at least other 41.5 years? Why only Andrea Harrington? What about all of the other D.A.’s, Chief(s) of Police, and so on?

YET, you blamed her for Pittsfield’s close to at least the past 45.5 years of failures to use evidenced and research based social services methods to reduce violent crimes and related crimes that would have spared Pittsfield from decades of preventable traumas.

While Governor (misguided) Maura Healey took her current seat in 2023, she was the one who made hundreds of millions of dollars in state funding cuts to social services programs that otherwise help poor and other people with high needs from turning to criminal behavior. Ironically (misguided) Maura Healey was an Attorney General prior to being the first elected woman Governor of Massachusetts; Jane Swift was the first woman Governor of Massachusetts, of course.

Ironically, my Enemy #1 has the same spelling first name as the aforementioned Andrea Harrington. BUT because Pittsfield, along with Boston, is set in The Twilight Zone, Andrea Francesco Nuciforo Junior walks on water in Pittsfield and Boston.

One post stated that I am viewed as a would-be murderer of LUCIFORO, while omitting that he was the one who conspiratorially and directly threatened me since I was 20 years of age in the Spring 1996 because he HATED my dad, Bob (who will turn 82 next month), who he had a political family based vendetta against for historical reasons I do not fully understand, but it had something to do with Nuciforo’s now late-Aunt named Anne Everest Wojtkowski, who was Pittsfield’s first woman Mayor, along as a career college professor at Berkshire Community College many years ago now.

To be clear, Nuciforo hated my dad, Bob, who was a Berkshire County Commissioner from 1997 – mid-2000, and he and his network of abusive bullies took it out on me with NO remorse whatsoever. Nuciforo used me as the bait to try to hurt my father. Like I said, Pittsfield is set in The Twilight Zone, especially when one is called “JON MELLE”.

Posts have said that my writings about LUCIFORO are related to my mental illness(es). Posts have said that I blame LUCIFORO for everything that went wrong in my life of close to 51 years of age.

When I write my replies to the negative posts, more often than not, they are edited out completely on the blog named PlanetValenti.com. I am voiceless in Pittsfield and Boston, while LUCIFORO gets to write the narrative that he is the epitome of success, while I am a delusional middle-aged man who supposedly plays the VICTIM CARD because I believe that I am a persecuted person at the hands of my Enemy #1 for over the past over 30 years of my adult life.

I have taken your side when the likes of Earl and the 2-Pete’s Pittsfield politics refuse to speak with you, who I have written is the BEST journalist in the beautiful Berkshires. I have written that your blog is AWESOME because it stands for FREE SPEECH, which Pittsfield’ sitting Mayor, Peter Marchetti, publicly infers he HATES, along with him publicly saying that he HATES social media commentary, which he says is all “doom and gloom” about Pittsfield.

I hope that you will continue to blog about our native hometown of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I actually agree with a lot of what you have to say, especially about the fictional Kapanski family who are mistreated by the corrupt career politicians as their ATM, doormat, and worse (a toilet that they shit on). Power to the little guy(s) in Pittsfield and beyond!

Best wishes,

Jon Melle

Jon…Dan is not perfect for you. He has allegiances even if he knows there scum. Bottom line is you don’t quit and are obsessed with one or two people. One is dead… Carm and one lives in your head daily. Your problem isn’t that you have a good narrative but your repetition has become to obsolete and at some point you need to explore other solutions.

Your obsession has drifted to long on here. Give us Solutions !

How are the test scores in Pittsfield? How do they compare with other cities of roughly the same size?

They have a category of their own. It is called Level Five with a caveat that it would be level two but there is none. (currently)

How about a comparison to see if there are any other schools that have as many dropouts, or opt outs or absenteeism as Pittsfield, Ma?
