ICE AND AUDITS

(FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, THE WEEKEND EDITION AUG. 7-9, 2026) — It’s a puzzling question, especially as it concerns a political party that once championed ordinary Americans: Why would politicians favor illegal aliens, many of them criminals, over law-abiding citizens? In the Commonwealth, THE PLANET realizes, this is a rhetorical question.
For the answer, you’d have to ask Democrats such as the “openly lesbian” Maura Healey. She’s the governor of Massachusetts, presiding over a matriarchy of loon-libs otherwise known as Democrat Socialists of America (DSA). They believe in abolishing private property, unless it’s their own, and a redistribution of capital, except for their lucre.
Gov. Healey just signed legislation that limits Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials from doing their job. Rather, Healey, her shrill harem, and cowed state lawmakers passed a law that prevents local law enforcement from working with ICE and DHS officials. Instead, the dizzy amazons want Bay State communities to allow aliens criminals to continue their mayhem. If somehow they are apprehended, they are to be released back into the communities to continue their crimes. They do so fully supported (food, shelter, clothing, EBT cards, etc. etc. etc.) by taxpayers.
The new law goes into effect immediately, filed as it was as an emergency preamble.
DHS, in a statement issued to media after Healy’s act, said that “seven of the top 10 safest citizens in the United States cooperate with ICE. Instead of working with us, Massachusetts lawmakers are choosing to RELEASE violent criminals from their jails directly back into our communities to perpetrate more crimes and create more victims. Sanctuary politicians must stop putting politics above public safety.”
In Massachusetts? With our socialist branches of government? In Berkshire County? With our impotent back benchers to the General Court?
No way.

The most cogent analysis of the Bitchfield audit committee’s stupid decision to go with Scanlon for an upcoming dusting of the books was supplied by former Ward 2 city councilor Charles Kronick. Sir Chaz sent this into THE PLANET’s comment line. We republish it here (a) in case you missed it and (b) to give it the greater visibility it deserves.
| The question of the auditor remains as simple today as when I was there in ’23. The Commonwealth states that auditors should be cycled out after 2 years, max 5 (needs confirmation). It is more than a suggestion, it is a best practice. Amuso is therefore incorrect when she says this time its ok to continue contracting with Scanlon. It can never be acceptable for a deliberating body to violate a best practice, anymore than it is for a bookkeeper do do so on the job.
Engaging Scanlon for any auditing function, given their unimpeded 20 year run, violates professional best practices. That every member who voted for them and selected them know this best practice from our debating the firm’s renewal makes me doubt their ethical qualification to vote on the matter. The practice of limiting auditing terms makes unnecessary consideration of: cost, ethical impairment of Scanlon, or any other argument that would otherwise be considered. Kalinowski missed her opportunity and was fooled by the usual pressures and irrelevant arguments the admin gobs over all of their requests, and that blunder should chew on her. She preferably would have voted “no” on the entire slate and requested 5 more candidates. Cunningham saw the real argument and he got it right. |
LUMPY
As you may recall, THE PLANET bet the house, the farm, and the lower 40 that after the grueling, laborious nationwide search, the audit committee would come up with Scanlon and some other company to serve as a token “bum of the month.” Scanlon’s only been cooking the city’s books for two decades. Of course, the committee was only following pressure from Lumpy, Voltron, and Dumpster, who were relaying orders from their Masters.
Yeah, and The Kapanskis are expected to believe Scanlon will be able to come in with a fresh set of eyes, looking to ferret out any “irregularities.”
It’s not all bad, though. Our bet won us a genuine “Peter G. Arlos, County Treasurer” Swiss Army knife.
